New Canaan girls soccer forward and All-American Clare Greisen is out for the season, New Canaan coach Rich Hickson confirmed Tuesday.
The news was first reported by the New England Soccer Journal, which stated that Greisen "was shut down for the fall season in late August because of an injury." Hickson didn't disclose the nature of the injury, but did say it was not ACL-related.
Greisen is not the only future Division I player and 2025 GametimeCT First Team All-State selection out for this season.
Amity striker Maggie Kershnar suffered an ACL injury and won't play this year, Amity coach Owen Quigley said. Kershnar is committed to play at UConn beginning in 2027.
Greisen, a two-time GametimeCT All-State First Team selection, was named an All-American last season. She has committed to play soccer at Northwestern University in the Big Ten Conference.

PG&E Corp (NYSE:PCG) shares fell more than 19% after California lawmakers advanced wildfire legislation that stopped short of the liability protections utility investors had been seeking.
The amended Senate Bill 492 excludes a proposal from Governor Gavin Newsom that would have blocked insurance companies from suing utilities over wildfire-related claims, raising fresh concerns about Pacific Gas and Electric Company's exposure to future disasters.
PG&E said the legislation, amended by the California Legislature, would make some progress on wildfire risk reduction and recovery but would not provide the sustainable solution the state needs.
"Specifically, the bill does not adequately address the financing risks created by California's current wildfire liability framework," the company said in a statement. "As a result, it falls short of creating the long-term durability needed to attract affordable investment to support a safer, more reliable energy system and help keep costs down for customers."
The company pointed to an April report from the California Earthquake Authority, which found that existing funding mechanisms are not sufficient. PG&E said SB 492 does not adequately address those concerns.

October live cattle (LEV26) futures on Friday fell $1.20 to $211.725 and for the week were down $6.20. November feeder cattle (GFX26) futures lost $1.55 to $309.925 and on the week lost $6.325. The cattle futures markets have seen steady technical selling over the past four weeks as both markets remain trapped in price downtrends on the daily bar charts.
Cattle traders this week will digest the implications of President Donald Trump's administration trying to bring down the price of beef at the meat counter. Trump Friday said on social media that his administration will seek changes to allow farmers and ranchers to slaughter and process their own products in response to calls to loosen the grip of the big companies that dominate U.S. meat processing. "I am authorizing legal documents to be drawn in order to allow Farmers and Ranchers to be given the right to PROCESS THEIR OWN FOOD," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "This should move quickly." The southern U.S. border reopening and Trump's move to allow tariff-free beef imports aimed at lowering beef prices have weighed on cattle markets recently, pushing live and feeder futures near nine-month lows.

With roots dating back to 1868, Scotts Miracle-Gro (SMG) faces a future that hinges on getting a nonchalant Gen Z crowd to pay to fertilize their lawns, just like their proud green-lawn-owning parents.
New CEO Nate Baxter realizes the hill to climb is steep and chock-full of roadblocks, such as more people buying Astroturf for lawns or putting stones where grass once lived — and needing water to do so.
"So our core consumer that has been with us for decades. They're homeowners or renters who care about their lawn. They are dedicated. And they care about weeds — they don't want them. They want the perfect lawn story," Baxter said in a new episode of the Power Players with Brian Sozzi podcast (watch above; listen in below). "What we are seeing with the next generation of consumer is a real interest in going natural. They don't mind an occasional dandelion in their lawn."
Baxter said Scotts has released new fertilizer in recyclable paper bags and all-natural lawn food to cater to this finicky crowd. He promises a push into products that could help people connect with the health of their lawn's soil.

Andvari **** ociates, an investment management firm, released its first-quarter 2025 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Andvari's portfolio has performed strongly in the quarter, highlighted by Constellation Software's 19.9% revenue growth and its plans to spend on acquisitions in 2026. The company is also focusing on AI tools to enhance productivity and customer relationships. However, the AI sector is experiencing extreme hype, leading to a growing disconnect between valuations and future cash flows. Predictions suggest the AI investment phase may decline in 1-3 years, despite current high demand for AI infrastructure, which is expected to attract significant competition. Concerns about overbuilding and risky financial behaviors, like Oracle's downgraded credit rating amid a $90-$95 billion AI cloud investment, reflect potential pitfalls. Andvari has minimized exposure to this sector, aiming to protect and grow **** ets through disciplined investments in stable industries despite recent underperformance during the AI boom. Andvari ******* ociates, an investment management firm, released its first-quarter 2025 investor letter. Andvari has minimized exposure to this sector, aiming to protect and grow ******* ets through disciplined investments in stable industries despite recent underperformance during the AI boom. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Andvari ******* ociates highlighted NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA). NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is a leading data center-scale AI infrastructure company operating through Compute & Networking and Graphics segments. On August 28, 2026, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock closed at $217.55 per share. The one-month return of NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) was 5.28%, and its shares gained 24.90% over the past 52 weeks. NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) has a market capitalization of $5.25 trillion.
Andvari ******* ociates stated the following regarding NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Another reason why I am increasingly cautious here is I've begun to see more examples of circular financing among the companies involved with the AI investment boom. For example, when NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) invested in OpenAI in late 2025, it was reported most of the money would be used to lease Nvidia chips. Also, some companies like Nvidia and Anthropic have invested directly into special purpose vehicles (SPVs), which in turn use that money to buy hardware from those exact same hardware makers. Then there are AI companies like Anthropic who have begun to use massive SPVs, backed by private equity firms, to borrow billions to buy chips and servers. The AI company then leases the chips from the SPV and thus the debt can stay on its own balance sheet. I've also read that some Nvidia customers are using Nvidia chips as collateral for loans to buy even more chips. This is the same type of behavior that eventually got many telecom and tech companies into huge trouble during the dot com bubble of the 1990s."

Shein stock tumbled more than 10% in gray-market trading on Monday, the day before it was set to begin trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, a sign of tepid investor enthusiasm heading into the listing. Futu Securities, Bright Smart, and Phillip Securities — three of Hong Kong's major brokerages — each quoted the stock down more than 10% shortly after gray-market trading got underway, according to Reuters.
At Futu, which leads Hong Kong's retail brokerage market by trading volume, the shares were last quoted near HK$42. Brokerages quote gray-market prices for a stock before it begins official trading on an exchange.
According to Reuters, citing unnamed sources, Shein priced its shares at HK$48.56 apiece, raising $1.7 billion and pegging its valuation at roughly $26.5 billion. The official pricing announcement is due later on Monday, with trading set to begin Tuesday under stock code 00625.
Bevis Ho, a senior ****** yst at Futu Securities, said the move signals "caution among both retail and institutional investors," explaining that right now "investors see greater potential in AI and robotics themes than in fast fashion."
Shein's current market value amounts to just over one-quarter of the roughly $100 billion it commanded at its private-market high in 2022, with the steep decline tied to tariff and duty changes across the U.S. and Europe that have eroded the core economics of its business.

The future is bright, and the future is now for Indiana Fever writes Robin Lundberg, as he believes the current crop of WNBA stars led by Caitlin Clark will bring plenty of success in Team USA's campaign in Berlin for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup.
With plenty of firepower in coach Kara Lawson's side, many feel that the time has come for the passing of the baton from the likes of Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi a decade ago to Clark and Angel Reese as they lead the charge for Team USA.
In a video posted on X on Sunday, Lindberg shared his thoughts on the "new era" of women's basketball in the country and how it will give more hope for the growth of the sport.
"Anytime you get this changing of the guard, in real time for Team USA, that is reason for increased interest," Lindberg said. "Being representative of this new era, it's nice to see that for Team USA."
He also pointed out that the trio of Clark, Angel Reese, and Paige Bueckers will surely turn a lot of heads once the tournament starts on Friday.

Renewed military conflict in the Middle East and growing bets that the Fed will soon raise rates are weighing on precious metal prices this morning.
It's been over a month since the U.S. took military action against Iran, but the U.S. attacks on Iranian rocket launchers marked the first escalation since July, fueling higher oil prices (BZ=F) and inflation concerns, and pushing gold prices lower.
On Friday, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the Fed's Jackson Hole summit didn't provide much forward guidance as expected, but it did reiterate the Fed's close focus on its mandate to keep prices low.
