The wife of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was shot multiple times in the family's Virginia home on Sunday night, ESPN's Nate Taylor reports.
Mia Bieniemy was hospitalized with "serious injuries," ESPN reported Monday, citing police. Eric was with the Chiefs in Missouri earlier Sunday as the team practiced on its second day of training camp.
The Chiefs released a statement Monday morning confirming they are "aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy's family" but did not offer any additional details. Pass-game coordinator Joe Bleymaier will be serving as the Chiefs' interim offensive coordinator while Bieniemy is away from the team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hired a new offensive coordinator every offseason since 2023. Former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson is the next coach up, taking over for Josh Grizzard after an 8-9 season in which the offense averaged 5.2 yards per play, the lowest over the past three seasons and a full yard less than what they enjoyed under current Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen in 2024.

Stoke City goalkeeper Viktor Johansson says he is hungrier than ever to get back playing for the Championship club.
The 27-year-old was part of the Sweden squad at the World Cup but did not make an appearance as Graham Potter's side reached the last 32, where they were beaten by France.
Johansson missed four months of last season after dislocating his shoulder against Sheffield United in December, only returning for the final game of the campaign at Bristol City, before agreeing a new four-year deal with the Potters in May.
"This is probably one of the first years in my career that it felt like coming home - I missed it so much during the off-season and my family missed it as well," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

Barcelona are not interested in a deal to sign ******* nal and Liverpool target Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spanish champions have been linked with a move to sign Barcola in recent days, as the club seek an attacking addition. Barcelona have bid for Julian Alvarez, of Atletico Madrid, without success and remain keen to add another goalscorer to their ranks.

In recent days, Lazio emerged as one of the player's suitors, reportedly offering to take him on loan for €2 million with an option to buy for €18 million, which would turn into an obligation if they qualify for Europe. Although Gennaro Gattuso prefers to sign a natural attacking midfielder for his 4-2-3-1 formation, Il Messaggero believes he is an admirer of the versatile New York native.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile are also facing stiff competition from the Premier League, as Leeds United and Ipswich Town are both keeping tabs on the situation. This would be a return to England for Musah, who spent his formative years at ****** nal.

Nebraska baseball transfer Zach Bates was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the MLB draft. He was taken with the 613th overall selection.
Bates previously played baseball at Illinois. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors as a reliever in 2025. He recorded a 2-2 record with a 2.83 ERA in 23 relief appearances.
He missed the 2026 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He should be available sooner rather than later. He is expected to begin his throwing program come the fall, with February being a targeted return timeframe. This was reported by Husker247's Michael Bruntz this week.
Nebraska baseball had a successful draft. Junior right-hander Ty Horn was taken 94th overall by the Cincinnati Reds. Redshirt sophomore Carson Jasa was selected 98th overall by the Chicago Cubs. Kuminga is undoubtedly the Lakers' top free agent target. According to Heavy's Sean Deveney, the ex-Golden State Warriors NBA champion could find himself securing a three-year deal or better with Los Angeles via sign-and-trade (Jarred Vanderbilt and a 2032 pick swap would have to be featured in the deal, but the Lakers might have to locate another team willing to take Vanderbilt off their hands, per The Stein Line's Jake Fischer).

Head coach Brian Barry-Murphy says he has felt "nothing other than support" from Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan as the Bluebirds prepare to return to the Championship.
Cardiff are yet to bring in any new signings since they won promotion from League One last season, although they have landed goalkeeper Nathan Trott on a permanent basis after he impressed while on loan in 2025-26.
Despite the lack of business, Barry-Murphy was keen to emphasise Tan's commitment to Cardiff after his side were beaten 6-0 in their opening pre-season friendly by FC Midtjylland on Saturday.
Barry-Murphy spent four weeks in Malaysia with Tan and his family during the summer, an experience he says offered a valuable insight into the Cardiff owner and his ambitions for the club.
"It was a privilege for me to visit Malaysia and learn a lot about the history of the country, the history of Vincent and what he and his people stand for," the Irishman said.

The Cubs finished up the first day of the MLB Draft by selecting Northwestern State (LA) right-handed pitcher Dylan Marionneaux win the fourth round. The junior right-hander went 4-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 14 starts with the Demons of the Southland Conference. He struck out 81 and walked 18 in 84.2 innings. Marionneaux was named to the first-team Southland Conference All-Conference team this year. He had committed to transferring to Alabama for his senior season before the Cubs drafted him. That’s about all I know about him.
So this one is a head-scratcher, although the Cubs almost certainly drafted Marionneaux because he’s willing to sign for a below-slot bonus that would allow the Cubs to give an big above-slot bonus to one of many high school players still on board for Sunday. Marionneaux is not listed on any of the published lists of draft prospects, and Baseball America covers the top 500 prospects.
Even if Marionneaux is a “signability” pick for another, better player later on, there must have been something that they liked about him anyways. Certainly his control numbers look good. And sometimes these signability players end up surprising everyone. Riley Martin was a fifth-year senior the Cubs drafted out Quincy University in 2021 who signed for $1000. But before he got hurt, Martin was looking like he was going to be an important part of the Cubs bullpen this year.
Last year’s third-round pick, Dominick Reid, and their fifth-round pick, Kade Snell, weren’t quite so out of the blue as Marionneaux is, but they were below slot picks that allowed them to draft high schoolers Kaleb Wing and Josiah Hartshorn, who are now two of the Cubs top propsects.
If you’re looking at high school players still on the board in the fifth round, there’s right-hander Joseph Contreras, son of former All-Star pitcher José Contreras, two-way player Archer Horn, right-hander Savion Sims, outfielder Blake Bowen and others.

Florida baseball will look to maintain several program streaks heading into the 2026 MLB Draft.
Dating back to the inaugural year of the MLB Draft in 1965, the Gators have seen 231 individuals combine for 261 draft selections, including 20 first-round picks. During Florida head coach Kevin O'Sullivan's tenure, UF has had 116 draft selections and 14 first-round picks.
Excluding the COVID-shortened, five-round MLB Draft in 2020, at least one Gator has been selected every year since 1997, and since 1998 every drafted has featured multiple UF players taken. Notably, Florida has registered at least four draft picks in 16 of the 17 years.
In the last three years, Florida has had at least five players chosen in the draft.
Here's a look at the Florida players and signees who were picked on July 11 and July 12.

There have been a few times at Norway's World Cup base in North Carolina when Erling Haaland has noticed kids playing football nearby, often in a World Cup shirt or a club like Manchester City. In other words, they'd know who he was, they just didn't know he was there.

The golf architecture team of Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner have signed on to restore Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda, a seaside course originally designed by C.B. Macdonald with collaborator Seth Raynor and opened in 1921. The course work will follow a clubhouse renovation and upgrade, with the course slated to close for the restoration in the fall of 2027.
Mid Ocean was the only course Macdonald, a famed Golden Age architect, designed outside the United States. Mid Ocean, which accepts limited non-member play, ranks No. 6 on the 2026 Golfweek’s Best list of top courses in the Caribbean, Mexico, South America and the Atlantic islands. It also ranks among the top 100 courses outside the United States.
"C.B. Macdonald is on my personal Mount Rushmore of golf architects, so it’s an honor to have the opportunity to work on another of his courses," Hanse – who also restored Macdonald’s designs at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, The Creek Club and Yale Golf Course – said in a media release announcing the project. "He only built 10 or 12 golf courses, depending on how many you credit to him. The fact that we now have a significant opportunity at Mid Ocean Club means the world to us.
"Every single golf course C.B. Macdonald worked on was impactful, not only from the standpoint of that particular club, but in the world of golf course architecture."
Macdonald pioneered the use of template holes in his designs, using the concepts of great holes abroad to recreate strategic demands with “ideal holes.” One particular template in play at Mid Ocean – the Cape Hole design at No. 5, a par 4 that launches off an elevated tee then curves around a lake – was described by Hanse as “one of the greatest holes in the world.”

For nearly 100 years, the Americans have been also-rans at best and ne'er-do-wells most of the time. But what would be the nation's legacy on the world's greatest stage if MLB's great athletes had grown up on a soccer pitch instead of a baseball diamond?
It is reasonable to ***** ume that MLB greats Ty Cobb, Mickey Mantle, Mike Trout, Jackie Robinson and Rickey Henderson would be as revered as Pele, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Franz Beckenbauer or Diego Maradona.

Chris MacFarland was busy on July 1, adding three players in his first free agency day as Nashville Predators general manager.
After adding forwards Ross Colton, Jack Drury, Nils Hoglander, and Adam Edstrom in June, MacFarland added center Mavrik Bourque, defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin and winger Alex Kerfoot when free agency opened. The Predators now have seven new faces in the locker room headed into the 2026-27 season.
But while MacFarland made the Predators deeper and more talented, he has invited a new problem. With at least 26 players under contract for next season, how do you get down to 23 by opening night?
"It's going to require some tough decisions," MacFarland told reporters at Bridgestone Arena on July 1. "Moving some players that maybe you wouldn't normally look to move in order to improve key areas of the ice."

Hunter Dobbins was entrusted with the starting duties of game 2 of the day/night doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers and did a great job of limiting their offense to minimal damage in the early innings. The St. Louis Cardinals offense did not make a significant appearance in the game and the 7th inning was a disaster – again.
The Brewers didn’t make a dent in Hunter Dobbins outing until Cooper Pratt tripled to lead off the top of the 3rd inning. He would score 2 batters later when Christian Yelich grounded out to Masyn Winn giving Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.
More trouble would arrive in the top of the 5th inning as walks would come back to haunt Hunter Dobbins. He walked Sanchez to start the Brewers 5th. After Frelick flied out, Dobbins then walked Pratt. Ortiz singled to right to load the bases. Hunter was able to strike out Christian Yelich, but one of Milwaukee’s top prospects who was just called up to the majors Luis Lara smacked his first major league hit into right field after a diving JJ Wetherholt scoring 2 and increasing the Brewers lead to 3-0. Hunter Dobbins would complete 5 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 earned runs while striking out 4 and walking 3.
Jared Shuster, who was just called up today from Memphis, entered the game in the top of the 6th inning with one runner on. He walked Jake Bauers, the first batter he faced, to give the Brewers runners on first and second with no outs, but struck out Sanchez. Shuster was also able to coax a flyout to center from Jackson Chourio for the second out. He got out of the inning when Cooper Pratt grounded into a force out to end the Milwaukee 6th.
The Cardinals bats were extremely quiet for the first 5 innings with the exception of Jordan Walker. He had one of the only St. Louis hits in the early innings and hammered an 86 mph changeup for another single with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning. He would cross home plate shortly after thanks to a jolt that Nelson Velázquez put into a 93 mph four-seam fastball from Brewers pitcher Gasser as it sailed into the plants above the left field wall reducing the Milwaukee lead to 3-2.

The Philadelphia 76ers made a number of big moves in free agency with the additions of Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons, and Ariel Hukporti. All three of the free agency moves, along with the blockbuster trade to acquire Jaylen Brown, should allow the Sixers to climb the ladder in the East and seriously contend with the defending champion New York Knicks.
Simons, especially, feels like a player who can seriously stabilize the bench unit. He averaged 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 **** ists while shooting 44% from the floor and 38.5% from deep. He averaged 6.9 attempts per night split between the Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics.
After playing 55 games in 2025-26, the recruiting process for the Sixers started with Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Jameer Nelson who put in a call to Simons' family.
"Obviously, taking a few calls from different teams, and my agent told me, I got a call from Jameer—Jameer called my parents," Simons said via Zoom on Tuesday. "I talked to Nick (Nurse), and I just felt like at the time that was probably the best fit for me when it comes to positional need, and kind of wanting to go out there and compete for a championship. I think it was the best opportunity for me to do that."
Simons will lead the bench unit and be the main backup guard to Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, but he will certainly play in lineups with either player. There will be combinations with Simons and Maxey as well as Simons and Edgecombe. The whole point of having a guy like him is his ability to help with the ball-handling as well as being that guy who can put the ball in the basket in the blink of an eye.

Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold cleared waivers on Monday, making him a free agent who is eligible to sign with another team in the NFL.

Arnold, 23, was released by the Lions on June 29 after he was arrested in connection to an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred in February.
Arnold posted a $1 million bond and was released from the Hillsborough County Jail on June 30 after a judge denied the prosecution’s motion to keep him detained without bail.
The prosecution also pushed for Arnold to have a GPS tether, an effort denied by Chief Judge Christopher Sabella after Arnold’s defense argued a tether would interfere with his ability to play football.

The Three Lions made it into the World Cup quarter-finals in a nerve-shredding battle against Mexico. After the final whistle, there was no stopping them. The team celebrated the triumph extensively with the fans. The English may not have the Yellow Wall, but they do have Wonderwall. The Oasis classic was once again belted out at full volume.
No wonder Harry Kane's voice was even more shot in the interview afterwards than the penalty spot from which Kylian Mbappé fired France into the quarter-finals against Paraguay.
"Sorry, I've lost my voice, I've been singing the whole time, I can't really talk," Kane apologized to the BBC reporter - but then the captain still croaked on: "It's unbelievable. A crazy game. My God, we fought so hard. Unbelievable, the team, everything, it's just unbelievable."
This spontaneous loss of voice, complete with such wonderful voice cracks, was surely helped along by this heartwarming meeting with England legend Peter Crouch.
England have definitely caught the wave of euphoria. Let's see whether Thomas Tuchel's team can end this journey with the golden trophy in their luggage.

The Los Angeles Lakers are once again attempting to wash their hands of Dalton Knecht.
Los Angeles traded the former No. 17 overall pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams midway through the 2024-25 season, but the Lakers rescinded the deal at the last second. After Knecht reportedly met with Los Angeles’ front office this past January to make a formal trade request, the Lakers sought a deal that worked for all parties.
They ultimately failed to get it done, extending Knecht’s Lakers stint for at least a few more months. Fast forward to early July, and Los Angeles is making another valiant effort to send the Tennessee product packing.
In a trade idea crafted by Lakers insider Jovan Buha, Los Angeles would finally cut ties with Knecht in favor of a Luka Doncic reunion with a 29-year-old Slam Dunk champion.

It wouldn't be a surprise to see the Patriots explore the possibility of bringing in a veteran tight end to boost the competition at the position in training camp.
