Energy Vault has entered into a commercial agreement to deliver 1.25GW of integrated power infrastructure for a hyperscaler artificial intelligence (AI) data centre project in Texas, US.
The deal involves the deployment of grid-forming power conversion systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and AI infrastructure control software to support high-performance computing needs.
Energy Vault stated that this platform will combine several elements, including dispatchable power generation, intelligent BESS, inverter systems, and advanced software controls, into a single package designed specifically for hyperscaler AI campuses.
The system is intended to provide off-grid power and enable data centre compute capacity to come online more quickly than would be possible through traditional utility interconnections. Deployments are set to begin within the next four to 12 months.
According to the company, this approach supports a rapid speed-to-power timeline that does not rely on existing utility connections.

Hezly Rivera rallied perfectly on Sunday to claim her second straight U.S. women's gymnastics ****** le.
Rivera, after starting the final day of competition in fourth, ended up beating the field by more than a full point in Phoenix to win her second consecutive national ****** le. It was then her floor routine, where she earned a 14.300, that finally sent her into the lead.
Rivera made her Olympics debut at the Paris games last summer, where she helped the Americans win gold as a team for the third time in the past four competitions. She also defended her beam ****** le this weekend.
Claire Pease finished in second at 110.800 while claiming the uneven bars ****** le, and Charleigh Bullock, 16, came in third at 110.550. Pease was tied for the lead after the opening day with Skye Blakely. But Blakely, who won silver on bars, fell three times on Sunday to drop down to seventh. Two-time gold medalist Jade Carey finished in fifth, and won her third U.S. vault ****** le in the process.

Alessandro de Tullio went flag-to-flag from pole to claim a dominant Indy NXT victory at Portland International Raceway.
The Argentine led all 35 laps in the No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing entry to win by 2.169 seconds around the 12-turn, 1.964-mile natural road course. It marked de Tullio's second win of the season.
"Yeah, it wasn't easy," de Tullio said. "I had to take care of the tires; there was quite a bit of deg there towards the end. I went for the fastest lap at the end, but I didn't get it by almost nothing. But yeah, it was a good race, the start was a bit gnarly with Lochie (Hughes). He really charged into Turn 1, but we were able to hold that off. We were able to get a good restart after the safety car. The car was great. I can't thank the whole team enough."
The Andretti Global duo of Hughes and Max Taylor finished second and third, respectively. Tymek Kucharczyk, driving the #71 entry for HMD Motorsports, finished fourth. Jacob Abel, making his first series appearance since finishing runner-up in the 2024 championship, completed the top five.
The championship picture took another turn as Enzo Fittipaldi (HMD Motorsports) and Nikita Johnson (Cape Motorsports Powered by ECR) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. As a result, Fittipaldi vaulted back into the championship lead, holding a one point lead over Johnson (476-475) with three rounds to go. PHOENIX — After Shilese Jones did a meet and greet at the USA Gymnastics national congress and trade show, she sat down and was asked what the last two years have been like.
Jones started with June 28, 2024, the first day of the Olympic Trials for the Paris Games.
Jones, a World Championships all-around silver and bronze medalist in 2022 and 2023, hoped to make her first Olympic team. She was set to return to competition at trials after missing the U.S. Championships four weeks earlier with a right shoulder injury.
But in warm-ups, minutes before trials began, she injured her left knee on a vault landing.
"It all happened so fast, right?" she said Saturday after her booth appearance for gymnastics apparel company Sylvia P. "That last touch right before competing, it all was wild. I'm over here doing a Kerri Strug moment, pretty much. I knew something was incredibly wrong, right? But I was like, 'I'm still going to give it all I got.'"

PHOENIX — Olympic bronze medalist Fred Richard has a new ****** le.
Richard handily won his first all-around ****** le at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships Saturday, Aug. 8. His two-day combined score of 170.015 was two points ahead of Tokyo Olympian Shane Wiskus. Up-and-comer Danila Leykin was third, at 167.001 points.
Richard was all but ****** ured of winning the ****** le after Leykin botched his floor routine, the second event of the night. Richard just needed to be clean the rest of the night, which he was, putting up solid scores on every event. After landing his vault, his final event, Richard threw his arms wide and roared, a huge grin on his face.
Richard didn't lock his spot on the U.S. team for the world championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands — he also needed to finish in the top three on three or more events and only did that on floor exercise — but is all but ****** ured of being on the five-man team that will be announced later Saturday.
Though Richard is a three-time NCAA all-around champion, a U.S. ****** le had eluded him. He was third in 2023, and the runner-up the last two years. With defending champion Asher Hong injured and three-time U.S. champion Brody Malone taking the year off, however, Richard was the heavy favorite coming into the meet.

GREENSBORO, NC — Davis Thompson vaulted up the Wyndham Championship leaderboard Saturday with a 5-under 65 and put himself just outside the FedEx Playoff bubble.
But it was an albatross on the fifth hole and a broken driver on the 14th that defined his moving day at Sedgefield Country Club.
After four pars to open his round, Thompson hit an 8-iron 186-yards into the par-5 fifth that rolled onto the back of the green, took an adventurous ride on the Donald Ross green and found the cup for a 2.
"Kind of got off to a slow start and then, you know, making an albatross usually helps get things going," Thompson said.
It was the second double eagle of Thompson's career, he claims, the other coming on the 16th at Bay Hill during a Palmer Cup event while at the University of Georgia. He has never recorded a hole-in-one on the PGA Tour, but said he wouldn't trade one for an albatross.

Shhh. Don't say anything. Don't jinx it. But…there's a chance that the Orioles could end today tied for an AL Wild Card spot.
It's hard to believe such a thing could be true, after all the trials and tribulations and the often foolish play we've witnessed from the 2026 Orioles. But if they win this afternoon and the Guardians lose to the Mets, then the O's would vault ahead of Cleveland and move into a tie with the idle Rangers for the third wild card spot. Even while still being under .500. Wild stuff.
But first things first: the O's need to take care of business against the Angels, the worst team in baseball. The Birds have done so in the first two games of the series, even if their hitting performance wasn't quite as potent as we'd like. But their pitching has been stellar, with Cade Povich and Trevor Rogers each delivering quality starts and a patched-together back of the bullpen locking things down late. It helps that the Angels can't really hit, but let's not pick nits.
Today the O's have their most reliable starter, Brandon Young, on the mound as they try for the sweep. As a reminder, the Orioles are a whopping 15-3 in Young's starts this season. The right-hander passed the 100-inning mark in his last start and carries an 8-2 record and 3.31 ERA. The Angels will be facing him for the first time in his career.
On paper, the Birds would appear to have the pitching advantage with Young taking on Ryan Johnson, a rookie righty with a 7.63 ERA. Johnson has been absolutely dreadful against every team he's faced…except the Orioles. Back in June, Johnson faced the Birds in Anaheim and dominated them for six shutout, one-hit innings, striking out eight. It was by far the best outing of Johnson's career, and the only time he's ever pitched more than five innings. The O's offense was absolutely pathetic in that game. It wasn't the first or last time the Orioles had been shut down by a pitcher with a sky-high ERA. Hopefully we won't see a repeat performance today.

There were several moves made by the Phillies today, helping us end our long suffering discussion about what they should do and what they shouldn't do. Let's grade them all.
Phillies acquire Luis Arraez, Caleb Kilian from the Giants for Ramon Marquez, Marty Gair
Obviously the doozy of the deals that were completed, there are several layers to this one. First off, addressing their gaping offensive need with a player like Arraez is a solid fit for them. Currently running a 120 wRC+ in San Francisco, he'll be added to a lineup that truly needs what he does at the plate. Arraez's knack for contact hitting and not striking out (a 4.5 K%!!!) is an antithesis to a lineup that is 24th in baseball with a 23.6% strikeout rate. That's probably the greatest ***** et that he can provide the lineup as he doesn't really walk much, something that would be preferable considering that he will likely be batting at or near the top of the lineup. His Savant page has several blue shades in categories one wouldn't really want to be blue in, but there is also the preternatural ability Arraez has at the plate that simply cannot be quantified. He is a player with the skillset of a bygone era, but has made it work all these years he's been in the majors.
You know about the offense. It's the defense.
Some how, some way, Arraez has vaulted himself to the top of the league as a defensive second baseman, a year after he was forced to move his way down the defensive spectrum in San Diego to first base. His work with legendary infield coach Ron Washington with Giants has to be considered the sole reason for this turnaround as Washington has done this with many, many players wherever he has coached. The question is: do you believe in it? With the reports that Arraez will be playing second base with the Phillies, that will force the team into making decisions that will shift at least two players to a new position, creating the chance that the defense will go from an absolute liability to something close to a natural disaster.

Detroit — The highest-ranked player at the Rocket Classic went low on Friday.
Cameron Young, No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking, came out blazing in the second round and shot a 9-under 61 to tie the course record and vault to the top of the leaderboard halfway through the final playing of the PGA Tour tournament at Detroit Golf Club.
Young opened with a first-nine 28, or 7 under, on the strength of six birdies in a row at one point. He even birdied the long, tough, par-4 17th, which yielded only five birdies in Round 1. Already a member of the exclusive 59 Club, he had thoughts of a double dip there until he grinded his way through the second nine, before rolling in a 20-footer for one more birdie at the par-4 eighth hole.
Young missed a 17-footer for birdie on his last hole, but it still was a clean, bogey-free card and Young, 29, who already has won twice this season including at The Players Championship, was at 10 under at the halfway point of the tournament. He was one shot ahead of first-round leader Peter Malnati.

The Boston Celtics have not had a fun offseason. He's even burned the C's in the playoffs before, albeit not in the last several years.

Stevens knew the risk of sending Brown to a rival, in-division team like the 76ers. And he also knew that James was a free agent, as the 22-time All-Star announced his plans to leave the Lakers on Tuesday, June 30.

Established in 1918 in Kentucky, Fort Knox was a key military installation for the U.S. through both World Wars and the Vietnam War. The Fort Knox Bullion Depository was added years later, holding much of the U.S. gold reserves beginning in 1937. Today it holds about 147.3 million ounces, worth about $608 billion, according to the U.S. Mint.

Joey Volchko’s professional baseball journey officially began Saturday after the former Redwood High School standout was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the third round with the 77th overall pick of the 2026 MLB Draft.
The White Sox, who owned the No. 1 overall pick, opened the draft by selecting UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky before adding Volchko later on. Volchko's pick value is approximatly $1.09 million.
The selection makes Volchko one of the highest-drafted players in Redwood High School history and continues the school’s growing list of professional talent. Hunter Bryan was selected by the Texas Rangers with the 925th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, while Sam Bower was taken by the San Francisco Giants in the 12th round (356th overall) in 2022 out of Saint Mary’s College.
Volchko entered the draft as the No. 68 overall prospect, according to MLB.com, after a breakout junior season at Georgia that vaulted him into early-round consideration.
The 6-foot-4 right-hander originally emerged as one of the nation's premier high school prospects at Redwood in 2023. Armed with a fastball that reached 96 mph, Volchko dominated as a senior, posting a 0.59 ERA with 135 strikeouts over 59 innings. He also starred at the plate, batting .442 with eight home runs, eight doubles and 38 RBIs while helping lead Redwood to the CIF-Central Section Division 1 semifinals.

The 2026 MLB Draft is here, and it will be a busy two days for FSU's coaching staff.
The Seminoles had a historic showing in last year's draft, setting a new program record with 11 players drafted. It was also the second straight year they had a first-round pick, with the Athletics taking Jamie Arnold with the No. 11 overall pick.
While it is unlikely FSU will match that number, they have several players who are set to hear their name called and start their professional journey. The entire weekend rotation could be drafted, with Wes Mendes having a shot to be taken in the first round, while Trey Beard and Bryson Moore both showed enough with solid junior seasons.
Perhaps the biggest name to watch is Myles Bailey, who was having a sensational sophomore season before an ankle injury cut it short. He has shown plenty in his time at Tallahassee, but with multiple seasons of eligibility remaining, he can afford to be selective and has a shot to return for a third season at FSU.
FSU's high school commits are also eligible to be taken, and several of them have seemingly done enough to entice MLB teams. Infielder Landon Thome is one of the best left-handed hitters in the class and has vaulted himself into first-round consideration, which would likely cause him to sign. Pitcher Kaden Waetcher is the other commit who could hear his name called early and elect to forego college.

Meta Platforms (META) stock edged higher Tuesday morning, approaching a test of a key technical level. Shares have had a good start to the month, as investors size up the tech giant's reported plan to launch a public cloud service.
Meta stock jumped 8.5% in trading on July 1, after Bloomberg reported that the Facebook parent company is forming a business that would rent its "excess computing power" to outside customers. Meta is yet to comment on the report. But such a move would vault the social media company into a cloud market led by Amazon (AMZN), Microsoft (MSFT) and Alphabet (GOOGL).
While Meta pulled back in the final trading day before Independence Day weekend, shares gained another 2.5% on Monday. On the stock market today, Meta stock is ahead a fraction at 602.50 premarket.
Shares were trading just below Meta's 50-day moving average. While Meta briefly climbed above its 50-day line on Wednesday, the stock has not been able to sustain a rally ahead of that level since late April, according to IBD MarketSurge.
Analysts are still sizing up the plans while looking for further detail from the company. Meta is expected to report second-quarter earnings later this month.
