Packers safety Javon Bullard got a 15-yard penalty for the hit that knocked Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray out of Sunday's game. Vikings right tackle Brian O'Neill thinks Bullard should have gotten more than that.
O'Neill shoved Bullard after that hit, but after the game he said he wishes he had been more aggressive toward the opponent who just gave his quarterback a concussion.
"It was so bang, bang," O'Neill said, via ESPN. "You don't want to freak out if you're wrong. I was probably wrong to not freak out more than that. So I kind of wish I took a shot at him."
Bullard easily could have been ejected for the hit, and he'll surely at least be fined by the NFL, if not suspended. But he escaped the Vikings dishing out any justice on the field, something that O'Neill regrets about Sunday's game.

The Arizona Cardinals will face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday in their season opener. While the two teams don't face each other often, there are some familiat faces for both teams.
There are two Chargers players who were Cardinals players previously one on Arizona's roster who used to play for the Chargers.
Jefferson has had such an interesting career. He entered the league in 2013 with the Cardinals as a rookie free agent. He played four seasons for the Cardinals. He is now in his third season with the Chargers after he was retired for a season. In 2025, he had a career-high four interceptions and seven pass breakups.
Tomlinson played for the Cardinals last season. He signed a two-year contract after he was cut by the Cleveland Browns. He played in all 17 games and had 26 tackles, a sack and a tipped pass. He was released in the offseason and signed with the Chargers.
Fehoko is in his second season with the Cardinals and played two years for the Chargers before that. His career-high in catches and yards (six for 106) came in 2024 with the Chargers, and he scored his only NFL touchdown in 2023 with the Chargers.

The Detroit Lions are entering the 2026 NFL season with a new offensive coordinator leading the way. Drew Petzing, who's been with the Arizona Cardinals for a while before this Lions gig, is now calling the shots on offense.
But even with change, Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta should still be able to thrive. That's exactly what ESPN's Dan Graziano is predicting will happen in 2026. But in a way that would be a bit of a surprise.
Instead of St. Brown leading the offense like normal, he's predicting that Williams will wind up as the Lions' leading receiver this upcoming season. If this came true, it would be a huge surprise considering what the Lions' passing attack has looked like in recent years.
"Don't be surprised if ... Jameson Williams is the team's leading receiver," Graziano writes. "No disrespect to Amon-Ra St. Brown, one of the most consistent pass catchers in the entire league. But I think this Lions offense is going to hum this season, and Williams is the player poised to take the biggest leap."

Conor McMenamin says his short-lived move to Coleraine "was not meant to be" after his shock deadline day return to Glentoran.
The 31-year-old joined the Bannsiders in June on a long-term deal from St Mirren but has now made an unexpected return to the Glens for his second spell at the club.
McMenamin scored 39 goals in 80 appearances for the east Belfast side before he moved to the Buddies in 2023.
"Before I went to Coleraine, Glentoran wasn't an option and, as soon as I found out that they were this time around, I said to my agent to get it done quick," McMenamin told BBC Sport NI's Stephen Watson.

Monday afternoon, a day after having officially announced all their cuts, the Raiders made another move. The team announced that WR Dont'e Thornton will head to injured reserve.
Thornton has been injured through much of camp and for several weeks now head coach Klint Kubiak has said he expects Thornton to return soon. First he expected he would be back during the preseason, and then on Friday, he said this about the second-year receiver.
"He's still working to come back from an injury, working really hard at it too. And that's part of football, injuries are part of football, and he's straining to get better to get back on the field."
Thornton's exact injury is not known. They certainly haven't known the severity of it up to this point. But it seems like this was the plan yesterday when he made the roster.
With the roster cuts, the one unexpected one was LB Segun Olubi. The special teams maven was the one player on my 53-man roster projection who was cut. And now we see why. Because the plan was to then turn around and sign him back. Only a risk if Olubi wanted to go elsewhere because he wasn't subject to waivers as a vested veteran.

Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi said he was "not angry" and there was "no panic" after his side's second loss in two games - but it was a depressingly familiar story for the club's fans.

Denise Gomes may have punched her ticket to a UFC women's strawweight ***** le shot earlier this morning (Sat., Aug. 29, 2026) at UFC Shanghai LIVE on Paramount+ from inside the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China, after stifling former UFC ***** le challenger Yan Xiaonan with a powerful first-round knockout (head kick and punches).
This co-main event matchup may not have jumped off the paper for many fight fans, but it always had the potential to deliver fireworks. That's because Yan is one of the most seasoned vets on the 115-pound roster and Gomes is one of the most vicious finishers. It was a recipe for disaster and one strawweight was going to end up on the losing end. Unfortunately for Yan, that was her in front of her own home crowd.
While Yan had her moments in the first round it was all about Gomes and her ability to land hard shots at almost every turn. Yan did well to stay busy and prevent Gomes from really pulling ahead, but that all changed when Gomes unleashed a head kick with 15 seconds left on the clock. It landed flush, cracked Yan, and allowed Gomes to land a few follow-up punches to earn the knockout stoppage.

Carlos Ulberg is disappointed he can't compete, but won't rush his recovery.
The UFC light heavyweight champion has been on the sidelines since winning the ***** le at UFC 327. Ulberg (14-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) tore his ACL in his victory over Jiri Prochazka, making for a bittersweet crowning moment.
After undergoing a successful surgery on his right knee, Ulberg has been focused on his recovery. He is currently aiming for a return to action in early 2027.
"It sucks to be on the sidelines watching the guys," Ulberg told reporters during a news conference in Shanghai, China, ahead of UFC Fight Night 286. "I'm still in the gym watching the guys and also doing my rehab. I'd much prefer to be in the gym, having a push and pull with the boys – but I'm a working man, and I'm doing everything to make sure that as the champion, I get myself back on the mats. I'm ready to get myself healthy again so that I can come and defend my ***** le early next year."
Right now, Ulberg wants to ensure this time on the sidelines is his only time out of the game. He doesn't want to rush back and risk re-injuring his surgically repaired knee, which would cause more problems for the light heavyweight ***** le picture.

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have had their share of strife over the past 10 days, dealing with another pitching injury and the fallout of having one of their best players ghost the team during a playoff race.
Rookie Ryan Waldschmidt changed the mood in a hurry on Tuesday night.
The 23-year-old entered the game as a pinch hitter with two outs in the ninth and smashed a two-run, game-winning homer to stun the Chicago Cubs 5-4. It was the team's 40th comeback win of the season, which leads the big leagues.
The D-backs trailed 4-0 after seven innings on Tuesday before scoring three runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth.
"I think they have the mentality that they're just a bunch of dogs and they're not going to stop," manager Torey Lovullo said. "They're going to keep getting after it every single day and that's just ingrained in them. They have a great makeup.

Alejandro Balde's future at FC Barcelona has been generating plenty of speculation throughout the summer transfer window.
As already reported, the coaching staff led by manager Hansi Flick had doubts about the 22-year-old. But the player and his representatives insisted that he had no intention of leaving the La Liga champions.
However, with the transfer window approaching its final stretch, the situation has flipped completely as the La Masia graduate has changed their stance.
Indeed, Balde has accepted that a departure is now very much a possibility after the signing of Joao Cancelo earler this week.

After Friday night, Anderson's ranking and Trinity's status as an unranked team will be up for debate as Trinity rolled to a 59-13 victory.

It has been reported for a while that BYU was the frontrunner to land Michigan State transfer Jaxon Kohler, and now it is official, as he committed to the Cougars on Thursday, according to On3's Joe Tipton.
Kohler had a Zoom meeting with Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff on Wednesday, but BYU ultimately won out.
The decision makes sense for Kohler, as he could not return to Michigan State because the Spartans had a full roster. Instead, he decided to return to his home state of Utah and become a Cougar.
Pope previously recruited Kohler out of high school when he was at BYU, but Michigan State ultimately won out. Pope tried to recruit him again this offseason, but he was unsuccessful in landing the 6-foot-10, 245-pound forward.
Kentucky fans likely will not have to worry too much about playing against Kohler or BYU, as the most likely way the two teams would meet would be during the NCAA Tournament.

Rickie Fowler has the distinction of being this week's "Bubble Boy" as he enters the BMW Championship, the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Fowler, 37, will tee off at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis at No. 30 in the season-long points standings, and only the top 30 advance to East Lake in Atlanta for the Tour Championship.
A lot is riding on the line for the 50-man field this week. While making the BMW Championship came with a big carrot — entry into all of the signature events next season — making the FedEx Cup finale offers its own set of rewards. The field will be whittled down to 30, all of whom will qualify for next year's men's majors. All 30 also get a two-year PGA Tour exemption.

The Tour also will pay out nearly $100 million in FedEx Cup bonus money after this week. Scheffler already is a mathematical lock to be No. 1 after the BMW and collect another $22 million. Abdul Rehman opened the scoring for Pakistan after three minutes with some brilliant aerial work along the baseline.
Wales, however, rallied in the second quarter, taking full advantage of a yellow card for Sufyan Khan.
Gareth Furlong's penalty corner was powerfully converted and Rhys Bradshaw gave Wales the lead 30 seconds later.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Hernández pitched the final three innings of Saturday's loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, giving the other six Dodgers relief pitchers a full day of rest amid a time of heavy usage. The Dodgers on Sunday recalled Kyle Hurt from Triple-A Oklahoma City, adding a fresh arm to the bullpen, with Justin Wrobleski placed on the 15-day injured list with left forearm inflammation.
Manger Dave Roberts on Saturday said Hurt was on his way, and because Hurt was just optioned on Monday he would need to replace an injured pitcher in order to be activated before his 15 days were up.
"We have some guys that are ailing," Roberts said Saturday evening.
Wrobleski is closing in on a professional career high in innings and though his innings were going to be reduced anyway by moving to the bullpen once Tyler Glasnow returns from the injured list, this allows Wrobleski to truly rest for at least two weeks. The left-hander has allowed 11 home runs in his last four starts, with 20 runs (19 earned) given up in 19 2/3 innings during that stretch.
Glasnow will make one more rehab start this coming Thursday, expected to pitch five innings and around 75 pitches, before returning to the Dodgers rotation after that. Because of upcoming off days on August 20 and 24, the Dodgers can get by with five starters all on at least five days rest until Glasnow returns.

The Big Ten Network football crew made a stop at Michigan State this past week as part of their annual fall preseason camp tour to each program. Following the visit, longtime Big Ten Network **** yst Dave Revsine had some very positive things to share about the Spartans.
Revsine took to social media following the tour stop at Michigan State's practice to state the Spartans are "more ready to compete than some might be anticipating." He went on to add that the blueprint for success this season at Michigan State is obvious to him: play great defense, run the ball effectively, get smart quarterback play from new starter Alessio Milivojevic and "win in the margins."

Michigan State enters the upcoming season with low expectations at the national level, and even among those that cover the Big Ten. The Spartans were picked to finish No. 16 out of 18 teams in the media preseason poll and enter the fall with a wins total of 4.5. So the more optimistic opinion and view from Revsine is certainly interesting and helps further my opinion of the Spartans contending for a bowl game this fall.
