Platinum ****** et Management, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for "Platinum International Brands Fund". A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The fund returned over 4% in the quarter but lost 14% over the past year, primarily due to the dominance of tech stocks amid an AI investment boom. Consumer-focused sectors underperformed due to weak sentiment and challenges such as high interest rates and rising oil prices, which have contributed to record-low consumer confidence. However, the fund's holdings remain fundamentally strong, with top holdings averaging 13% sales growth and 19% profit growth. The letter noted that positive developments include resumed job growth, reduced oil prices, and easing fiscal policy, which potentially enhance consumer sentiment. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Platinum International Brands Fund highlighted Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) as a notable contributor. Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. On July 28, 2026, Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) closed at $840.85 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $387.29 billion. Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) posted a one-month return of -15.19%, and its shares gained 93.69% over the past 52 weeks.
Platinum International Brands Fund stated the following regarding Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) (+36%) was another strong performer, shrugging off a 14% fall in profit. Steel is a key input and tariffs hurt; management is working on remedies, but they will take time. Beneath the surface, demand is heating up. Cat's engines and turbines power locomotives, ships, oil rigs, gas pipelines and now datacentres, a source of demand as ferocious as it is price-insensitive. Add a mining and energy complex emerging from a decade of underinvestment and a depressed construction sector turning the corner and the prospects look bright."
Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) is not on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds Heading Into 2026. According to our database, 87 hedge fund portfolios held Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) at the end of the first quarter, up from 86 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of Caterpillar Inc. "Birkenstock Holding plc (NYSE:BIRK) (+23%) was among our strongest contributors over the past quarter. The German sandal-maker, with two and a half centuries of heritage, keeps finding fresh ways to grow as a capable management team burnishes the brand, opens new product lines and expands overseas. It earns a 24% operating margin and a 40% return on capital and grew profits 25% on a year ago. Any private owner would be content with these numbers. The CEO, who bought millions of euros in stock this year, and the board, which recently launched a substantial buyback, plainly agree."

"I exited the MarineMax, Inc. (NYSE:HZO) position during the period. While I continue to respect management and believe the company owns attractive marina and waterfront **** ets, I concluded that capital could earn higher long-term returns in Vox Royalty and RCI Hospitality. The sale was driven by opportunity cost and increasing conviction in those investments rather than a deterioration in MarineMax's underlying business."

Ace River Capital stated the following regarding RCI Hospitality Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:RICK) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"The investment thesis for RCI Hospitality Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:RICK) has strengthened. The market remains focused on the New York litigation overhang while overlooking the company's normalized free cash flow generation, valuable owned real estate, and long record of disciplined capital allocation. I believe the current valuation materially understates intrinsic value even under conservative ****** umptions. Continued share repurchases and intelligent capital allocation should enhance long term per-share value, while eventual resolution of the New York matter has the potential to remove a meaningful overhang. Cascading risks linked to the highly volatile geopolitical landscape are driving demand for insurance products that safeguard day-to-day business operations, according to a GlobalData poll. Meanwhile, the availability of insurance products to protect against such impacts remains compromised as insurers struggle to adapt to the rapidly changing risk landscape.
According to a poll conducted by GlobalData on Verdict Media sites in Q2 2026 —which garnered 107 responses from industry insiders—supply chain insurance (41.1%) is the product set to see the highest demand due to geopolitical tensions. The second most sought-after product is cyber insurance, commanding 20.6% of responses.
Businesses overwhelmingly view the fallout of geopolitical tensions through the lens of indirect operational disruption, seeking products that safeguard daily commercial operations. In contrast, demand for specialist transport and direct **** et protection is lower. This highlights that organisations are deeply concerned about trade route blockages, state-sponsored cyberattacks, and collateral revenue losses that can have a cascading effect on operations, thus threatening day-to-day business continuity.
Ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe are creating specific trade bottlenecks such as in the Suez Canal and Strait of Hormuz, leading to widespread shipping reroutes, while alternative maritime corridors are emerging. Meanwhile, the US's shift toward economic nationalism—marked by sudden tariff hikes, export restrictions, and sanctions—is pressuring international trade supply networks.
Although demand exists, paradoxically, insurance capacity is compromised as many insurers pull products from the market fearing that the risks are unquantifiable. This highlights a key challenge for the industry, whereby only insurers with the most risk appetite are willing to adapt their underwriting strategies and product offerings. This requires providers to tighten policy wordings and exclusions around tariffs and sanctions, as well as stress-test products to avoid catastrophic losses from a single event. In addition, real-time geospatial tracking is gradually gaining traction for more accurately **** sing risks and improving underwriting.

Canadian travel to the U.S. dropped about one-quarter in 2025 compared to the previous year, a new report shows.
The U.S. has been the primary destination for Canadian international travel due to proximity and warmer weather, according to a report released July 22 by Canada's national statistics agency. In all, Canadian residents have returned from the U.S. 25.4% less in 2025 compared to the previous year.
Though Canada has historically been one of the U.S.' closest allies, Trump has imposed tariffs on goods from the northern neighbor and teased making it the 51st state of America. He recently reignited the trade tensions, announcing a 50% retaliatory tariff on a range of goods scheduled to go into effect Aug. 19.
"Following the change in the U.S. administration in early 2025 and the implementation of America First policies, Canadian travel sentiment shifted abruptly," the report states. The authors found the return crossings in early 2026 stayed at levels similar to late 2025, indicating a persistent sentiment shift.

WS Amati Global Innovation Fund, managed by a UK-based equity management firm from AMAti Global Investors, released its second quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter is available to download here. Financial market performance in the second quarter was dominated by geopolitical conflict and enthusiasm for AI. Significant investments across all elements of AI resulted in exceptional growth for related companies, ranging from chip producers to companies constructing data centres. The fund outperformed the MSCI ACWI benchmark due to its diversified exposure beyond headline AI firms, with semiconductor and equipment suppliers being major contributors. At the same time, software and IT services faced investor skepticism due to fears of automation despite long-term potential. The firm is confident in the innovation frontiers to capture long-term growth opportunities in automation, semiconductors, and advanced technologies. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, WS Amati Global Innovation Fund highlighted Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB). Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB), a technology services company that provides digital transformation, AI, and software development solutions, detracted from the Fund's performance during the quarter. On July 24, 2026, Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) closed at $31.30 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $1.35 billion. Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) posted a one-month return of 9.72%, while its shares lost 64.62% over the past 52 weeks.
WS Amati Global Innovation Fund stated the following regarding Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Although both companies weighed on performance, the largest single detractor was Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB), the US listed IT services and digital engineering business. It too was a casualty of the excessive extrapolation we believe investors are currently making and we have been gently adding on weakness to all three names."
Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) is not on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds Heading Into 2026. According to our database, 25 hedge fund portfolios held Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) at the end of the first quarter, compared to 33 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock.

In its Q2 2026 investor letter, WS Amati Global Innovation Fund highlighted Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK). Autodesk, Inc. WS Amati Global Innovation Fund stated the following regarding Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Equity markets in their enthusiasm for the AI opportunity have written off many companies which we are confident have many years of demand growth ahead. Specialist software providers into often highly regulated industries will be extremely difficult to replicate and there is little incentive for users to do so. Companies such as PTC and Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) are often foundational for the clients that use them, and they are embracing AI to improve their offering and the efficiency of their customers. The way their businesses are effectively being written off in the minds of investors creates a very attractive investment opportunity in our view, and our 3-5 year time horizon gives plenty of runway for a more balanced view to ******* ert itself."

Kia Corporation announced a 2.3% rise in net profits to KRW 2,327.8 trillion (US$ 1.59 billion) for the second quarter of 2026, up from KRW 2,268.2 trillion a year earlier, with US import tariffs and higher sales incentives offset by record global vehicle deliveries. Operating profits fell by 4.9% to KRW 2,628.5 trillion.
The South Korean automaker reported a 12.6% increase in global sales revenues to a record KRW 33,037.0 trillion in the three-month period, while global wholesale deliveries rose by 4.5% to 851,639 vehicles – including 154,816 units in South Korea and 696,823 units overseas. The company was not affected by the component shortages that held back Hyundai Motor's second-quarter results.
Sales of electrified vehicles jumped 60% to 296,000 units, accounting for 35% of Kia's global sales, driven by strong hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) sales in the US and higher battery electric vehicle (BEV) demand in South Korea and Europe. Total HEV retail sales rose by 61% to 178,000 units, helped by the launch of the new Telluride and Seltos models, with sales in the US surging by 152% to 66,000 units, while total BEV retail sales surged by 88% to 110,000 units.
Kia said it expects solid business results in the second half of 2026 to enable it to meet its full-year guidance, "supported by competitive new model offerings and sustained BEV and HEV demand." The company is targeting 3.35 million global vehicle sales in 2026, supported by the launch of new BEV models in Europe and a recovery in Middle Eastern demand.
In the US, Kia said that its plans to expand production capacity of the Telluride SUV, including hybrid variants, and the ramp up of deliveries of the Sportage hybrid produced at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) will help enhance profitability.

The Boston Beer Company, Inc. (NYSE:SAM) reported its second-quarter financial results on July 23, delivering a modest upside on earnings per share despite ongoing top-line volume pressures. The company reported GAAP diluted EPS of $4.96, topping Wall Street consensus estimates of $4.83, while non-GAAP diluted EPS came in at $3.65. The EPS beat was primarily driven by gross margin expansion, reaching 50.4%, up 60 basis points year-over-year, and a $1.31 per-share after-tax benefit from a favorable adjustment in supplier litigation.
The company's net revenue for the quarter was roughly in line with expectations at $568.3 million, down 3.3% year-over-year. Depletions fell 6%, which, while negative, came in better than the Street's fear of a 9% decline. Shipment volume was approximately 2.0 million barrels, down 4.5%. Crucially, management maintained its full-year non-GAAP EPS guidance of $8.50 to $10.50.
Following the report, Wall Street ******* ysts adjusted their outlooks. On July 24, Roth Capital lowered its price target on Boston Beer to $295 from $315 while keeping a Buy rating on the shares. The firm noted that while major components of guidance were unchanged, commentary on the earnings call suggested that if current trends persist, full-year results would land toward the lower end of the guided range. On the same day, Deutsche Bank lowered its price target to $176 from $187 and maintained a Hold rating on the shares.
This mix of resilient operational execution and volume headwinds brings up a key question: Is The Boston Beer Company, Inc. (NYSE:SAM)'s margin recovery and balance sheet strength enough to navigate persistent category challenges?
Optimistic investors emphasize Boston Beer's low leverage and durable financial flexibility as foundational strengths. With minimal debt, $265.5 million in cash, and a sizable equity base, the company maintains the financial headroom to fund working capital, capital expenditures, and share repurchases. This strong balance sheet allows Boston Beer to absorb macroeconomic shocks, tariffs, or litigation without forced deleveraging, preserving strategic optionality over both short- and long-term horizons.

A federal appeals court has upheld a ruling that halted President Donald Trump's executive order to create a federal list of eligible voters and limit delivery of mail ballots only to people on that list.
The ruling over the weekend rejected the Trump administration's effort to move forward with the mail-in voting restrictions in 23 U.S. states that sued ahead of November's midterm elections.
Also, the Trump administration has acknowledged in court documents that it canceled $7.6 billion in grants for hundreds of clean energy projects "based solely on the political identity of the grant recipient's state" — in this case, 16 states that voted for Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
Here's the latest:
Speaking to workers at a GM facility in Milford, Michigan, Trump touted steep tariffs that he says have protected the U.S. auto industry and revived production in the United States.

LONDON, July 24 (Reuters) - Renewed hostilities in the Gulf have revived stagflation talk, dimming hopes the interim deal between the U.S. and Iran had come in time for the world economy to avoid elevated inflation alongside stagnant economic growth.
Instead, oil prices are back at $100, European gas prices ‌are set for their biggest monthly jump since March and government borrowing costs are at multi-year highs on inflation angst as tensions escalate once more.
Trade frictions are adding ‌to the uncertainty facing consumers, businesses and investors. The U.S. on Friday imposed new tariffs of 10% and 12.5% on goods from 60 trading partners, including the European Union and China, likely raising prices further.
"Stagflation risk has been very much there for each economy since March, in different ways," said Alessia Berardi, head of global macroeconomics, Amundi Investment Institute.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks drifted to a mixed finish on Wall Street Friday as oil prices slipped for the first time in a week.
Every major index lost ground overall for the week amid increasing pressure from a sharp escalation in the U.S. war with Iran. Investors are also contending with new tariffs from the Trump administration and worries about the economy suffering under the weight of stubborn inflation.
The S&P 500 barely budged in a day of uneventful trading. It rose 3.68 points, or less than 0.1%, to 7,411.98. The index notched its second consecutive losing week, which hasn't happened since March.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 235.60 points, or 0.5%, to 51,947.25.
The Nasdaq fell 161.87 points, or 0.6%, to 24,975.82. It was weighed down by sharp losses from several big tech stocks.

ZURICH, July 24 (Reuters) - Switzerland takes note of the announced additional U.S. tariffs but ‌rejects allegations underlying the forced labour investigation, ‌the government said on Friday.
With tariffs of up to 12.5% on Swiss imports, effective July 24, the United States is still adhering to a joint statement of November 2025, the Swiss statement added.
The decision ‌to impose tariffs on Swiss imports based on allegedly insufficient measures against forced labour is neither understandable nor justified, Swiss business **** ociation Economiesuisse said.
"There is no evidence that Swiss supply chains are being used to smuggle goods produced through forced ‌labour into the U.S. market," the group added, calling allegations of forced labor unfounded.
"Forced labour is already prohibited in Switzerland under constitutional, civil and criminal law."

For Anne-Laure Descours, the question fashion observers should be asking isn't why so many brands destroy unsold merchandise but why they produce enough overstock to make it necessary in the first place.
"If you plan better and produce the right amounts of goods, you'd be less exposed to mass destruction," the Hong Kong-based supply chain veteran said.

Accenture's labour-intensive consulting framework and Intuit's legacy software franchise. Because these structural debates will take considerable time to resolve, the near-term visibility on earnings durability has diminished. VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Prime Minister Mark Carney said Thursday that Canada is intensifying negotiations with the United States to reach a comprehensive trade deal but is prepared to respond should President Donald Trump's threat of 50% tariffs on Canadian goods go into effect.
The new tariffs, announced by Trump on Monday, are scheduled to come into effect Aug. 19.
"If these tariffs, or other measures come into force, there's a full range of things that we can do in that regard," Ca rney said after meeting with Canada's premiers and territorial leaders in Charletown, Prince Edward Island.
Carney said "everything's on the table" if an agreement can't be reached before the tariffs kick in.
"We don't need to respond in advance," he said. "In fact, I think it would be counterproductive at this stage to respond in advance."
