Barcelona star Alejandro Balde remains outside the plans of head coach Hansi Flick as things stand. This comes with the Spaniard having been knocked well down the left-back pecking order in Catalunya's capital.
Defender Balde was of course heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
After it was widely reported that the Spaniard had been made available for the right price, Premier League giants Manchester United were hotly tipped as a potential landing spot.
In the end, Balde stayed put, eager to fight for his place in the plans of long-time employers Barca. But as alluded to above, as of this moment, the 22-year-old has not managed to win back the trust of his manager.
As per a report from Diario Sport, following the breakout of youngster Xavi Espart, and permanent signing of João Cancelo:

In a recent appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, former All-Pro and current Thursday Night Football **** yst Andrew Whitworth said the Denver Broncos are on an upward trajectory heading into 2026
Whitworth acknowledged what could have been in the 2025 Super Bowl, while looking forward to Denver's 2026 season, especially against the Seattle Seahawks, a game which Whitworth will attend as part of the TNF crew.
"That's another one," Whitworth said of the Broncos-Seahawks matchup in Week 6. "I still think that's a game that could have been last year's Super Bowl, but it also could be this year's. Both those teams have the potential to be there again."
The big game against Seattle will be a pivotal one for the Broncos; it is the final game of a brutal six-game opening stretch; however, it will be potentially the best-looking game of the season, as both squads will wear their beautiful throwback uniforms.
Whitworth complimented the Broncos for their moves in the 2026 offseason, showing they can be contenders once again.

The first time Sean Mannion stood in front of the Eagles offensive players, the new coordinator delivered a clear message about where the group needed to begin.
"He got up there and said, 'Our foundation is outside zone," Eagles right tackle Jordan Mailata said Friday. "Everything is going to start from that.'"
After an offseason full of intrigue about what the Eagles' revamped offense will look like under Sean Mannion, things are starting to come into better focus in the closing days before the season opener against the Washington Commanders.
Much of the discourse and scrutiny from afar has come around the pass game. Jalen Hurts' interception tally became a topic of conversation during training camp as Mannion installed the new system, and the questions about how the former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach could get the best out of Hurts has been central over the last few months, as well.
But Mannion's eyes are fixed on what he refers to as, "the engine."

Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto has confirmed Kieran Trippier and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde could both return for Sunday's Championship clash with Sheffield United.
Neither is ready to start at Bramall Lane, but the pair have returned to training and could be named among the substitutes.
Trippier has been sidelined for almost a month with a knee injury, while Bellegarde is yet to feature this season because of a hamstring problem.
"Kieran Trippier has started training but is not fit enough to start the game," Peixoto said. "We are going to see if he has the capacity to go with us and take some minutes.
"Bellegarde is the second week with us and is better. He can be an option for the game."

The Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers are ready to renew their annual rivalry, this time with both team's kicking off their season in Melbourne, Australia. While the location has many excited about the game, along with the rivalry's intensity, these three storylines are ones to watch.
This is a multi-layered question due to Kyle Shanahan's offensive brilliance, along with how his scheme has populated the league. The immediate questions revolve around the Rams' defense and whether they have the tools to contain Shanahan's zone-blocking scheme. On top of that, do they have the ability to stop Shanahan's layered passing attack, in which he uses short underneath passes to open up the rest of the field?
Schematics aside, the Seahawks and Cardinals also utilize Shanahan's offensive scheme, as their offensive play-callers are ex-Shanahan ****** istants.
Then, we have to account for Shanahan's tactical brilliance. If I'm Shanahan, I'm using the early portions of the game to figure out how the Rams match up against San Francisco's multi-tight end personnel, and once Chris Shula deploys multiple linebackers, the 49ers should use a fast-tempo offense to take advantage of the Rams' linebackers having to cover ****** e while depleting their energy, with the Rams being unable to substitute.
Shanahan has tricks like that in his bag to control the pen. Is Shula finally wise enough not to fall for it?

Merlin Polzin led his new-look Hamburg side out for their first home league fixture at the Volksparkstadion on Sunday afternoon, hosting a Mainz team with a familiar feel to them.
As Nicolai Remberg and Nadiem Amiri led their teams onto the pitch, Hamburg's Nordtribüne paid a touching tribute to the late Kevin Keegan with a wonderful choreo before kick-off. The Englishman, revered in the Hanseatic City after his exploits in the late 70s, sadly passed away in July.
Hamburg suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Borussia Dortmund on the opening day, and Polzin saw fit to make four changes to the starting XI that turned out in the Ruhrgebiet. A busy deadline day saw three new arrivals at the Volksparkstadion, with David Møller Wolfe and Zakaria El Ouahdi thrown straight in for their debuts; Fabio Vieira, meanwhile, began on the bench.
The visitors made two changes themselves to their starting XI that drew 0-0 at home to newly promoted Paderborn last weekend, with Kacper Potulski and Stefan Posch replacing Dominik Kohr and Danny Da Costa in defence.
Urs Fischer's side made the stronger start to the game, with a mistake from Jordan Torunarigha allowing Sheraldo Becker to force a good save from Daniel Heuer Fernandes within the first ten minutes. Moments later, Mainz worked a good opportunity from a corner for Amiri to strike at goal, though the German international sliced his effort wide.

Santos FC fought hard and applied plenty of pressure early in the derby, but could not overturn Palmeiras' large advantage. After a 0-0 draw this Wednesday (2) at Vila Belmiro, they are out of the 2026 Copa do Brasil. Peixe did try to break through and created chances, but their rivals knew how to protect the result after winning the first leg of the quarterfinals 3-0 on the 26th at Nubank Parque in São Paulo, thus securing a place in the semifinals.
Out of the national knockout tournament, coach Cuca's squad now shifts focus to the 2026 Brazilian Championship. Riding high after beating Corinthians 1-0 last Sunday (30) at Neo Química Arena, Alvinegro Praiano now aims to climb even higher in the table and move away from the danger zone.
This Sunday (6), Santos FC visits Internacional at Beira-Rio Stadium at 4 p.m. for the 26th round of the Brasileirão. If they can win in Porto Alegre, Peixe could open up as much as a seven-point gap from the relegation zone and start dreaming of bigger things in the national competition.

The match – Driven by the "fire corridor" on arrival and by a roaring Vila Belmiro, Santos came out on top of Palmeiras. Just 4 minutes in, Igor Vinicius reached the edge of the box and struck with his left foot, forcing a save from Carlos Miguel.

After being awarded no players off the NFL's waiver wire on Monday, the Denver Broncos have reached agreements with 17 players to join their practice squad.
Two notable players not on the list are Justin Joly (a fifth-round draft pick) and cornerback Reese Taylor. Both players were claimed off the waiver wire by the Miami Dolphins after being cut by Denver on Sunday. Also not on the list is linebacker Taurean York, who was among the team's notable undrafted free agent signings this spring.
Note that these 17 reported signings have not yet been confirmed/announced by the team, so it's still possible that any of these players could still fall through.

Manchester United started the Premier League season off on the wrong foot, and star midfielder Bruno Fernandes spent all week thinking about how to make sure the Red Devils would bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Hull City.
"I hate losing," he said.
It showed.
Fernandes scored three of the first four goals for Manchester United in a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town, bagging a hat trick that vaults him to the top of the Premier League scoring chart two weeks in. More importantly, it helped Man United avoid defeat and delight the home fans at Old Trafford.
"Obviously it was a huge week and to end with a win at home today was massive," Fernandes told the BBC after the match.

Robert Andrich's future at Bayer Leverkusen has taken a surprising turn.
The 31-year-old midfielder had recently emerged as a clear candidate to leave the club after new head coach Carles Martínez made it clear that Andrich would initially have only a minor role in his midfield plans. Leverkusen had therefore encouraged the former Germany international to look for a new club.
However, just days before the transfer window closes, a U-turn now appears to be underway.
Following Bayer's surprising 3-2 defeat at newly promoted SV Elversberg on Saturday, sporting CEO Simon Rolfes indicated that he expects Andrich to stay.
"I ***** ume that he will stay," Rolfes said after the disappointing Bundesliga opener.

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell put together another strong start on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers. The 33-year-old veteran completed five innings of work, allowing just one run and striking out 10 hitters.
Unfortunately, the Dodgers offense was nonexistent once again and they fell 2-1 with Tigers rookie Kevin McGonigle walking Los Angeles off in the ninth inning.
MORE: Dodgers make an announcement on Roki Sasaki's injury during Braves game
Snell has dominated since returning from a three-month absence after undergoing surgery on his right elbow, yet he did have a bit of a hiccup in the third inning, allowing the first three baserunners to reach and a run to cross.
He escaped the jam, but in the middle of doing so Snell motioned to both catcher Ben Rortvedt and the home plate umpire during an at-bat.

It took some time for it to come together, but the full NASCAR Cup Series schedule for 2027 is officially set in stone. Next year's schedule sees minor tweaks compared to 2026, including a revamp of how the 2027 Chase will look.
Among the adjustments include the Wheatley Vodka Clash exhibition race to start the season. Previously at Bowman-Gray Stadium, the Clash will return to the Daytona International Speedway for the first time since 2021 and first time on the oval configuration since 2020.
Dover Motor Speedway returns to the schedule as a points-paying race in 2027 after hosting the All-Star Race in 2026. The $1 million All-Star exhibition returns to North Wilkesboro Speedway after the North Carolina short track was the site for the event from 2023-2025.
North Wilkesboro loses its points-paying race in 2027 after hosting one this season for the first time since 1996.
The Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway moves out of the Chase and will be the regular-season finale in 2027. World Wide Technology Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway also move out of the Chase in 2027 to points-paying races in August.

The biggest question regarding the New York Giants heading into 2026 has been whether their defense can rise above its dismal performances in 2024 and 2025.
It was a bit of a surprise when the Giants hired former Tennessee ******* ans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson when names like Jim Leonard or Wink Martindale were being bandied about. However, Wilson is both familiar with the "Ravens" style of defense and has a history of producing excellent secondaries.
One of the prime concerns regarding the Giants' roster was their defensive secondary. In particular, those on the outside were concerned about the cornerback position opposite Paulson Adebo. It was widely expected that Greg Newsome II would be the starting corner opposite Adebo, with rookie Colton Hood rotating in and eventually supplanting him.
Instead, the Giants have rotated their starting corners with Adebo, Newsome, Deonte Banks, and Hood all getting reps with the starters.
"Right now, I see a bunch of young men trying to get better," Wilson said. "Every day they're going out there and they're competing against our offense. You've seen them in the games that we had in the preseason and in the preseason practice. They're coming out there and trying to detail their work. Right now, everybody's fighting to play, and I like where they're all at."

Detroit worked out free-agent cornerbacks Shaun Jolly and Eric Scott Jr. on Tuesday, according to the NFL transaction wire. The tryouts come during the final week of training camp as the Lions continue evaluating the depth behind their established players in the secondary.
Neither player was immediately signed following the workouts.
Still, both bring different profiles to Allen Park.

After 34 years and more than 5,500 episodes anchoring sports television's longest-running program, SportsCenter, Linda Cohn decided it was time for something different. Earlier this year, Cohn was celebrated in a daylong presentation during her return to Bristol, Connecticut. Memories, tributes and a highlight package or two were included, all with a focus on the impact and legacy Cohn left on so many over her three decades of service to the network.
In the days that followed, Cohn got right back to work. The project wasn't another network or a return to her earlier days in radio. Instead, the National Sports Media Hall of Famer launched a YouTube channel dedicated to providing content that embraced the newfound freedom she gained by leaving the halls of the worldwide leader.
"The stuff that I have strong opinions on is the stuff I haven't been allowed to say," said Cohn. "The stuff that's usually trending and hot topics are the things I tend to want to discuss the most. That's the stuff that I had the gag order on every year I was with ESPN and weren't allowed to talk about."
Twice per week, Cohn now hosts The Linda Cohn Show from her palatial estate in Los Angeles. The topics can range from sports to pop culture. The opinions are her own, written and presented from the heart. Cohn has never lost her passion for sports, but she also never had a platform to truly choose and discuss her personal feelings on subject matter at length.
That's why it made all the sense in the world for Cohn to immediately enter the digital content ******* e following her ESPN departure.

Liverpool left St James' Park with a point, and a fresh question. Who is the club's first-choice penalty taker now?
The late spot-kick was the defining moment of a tense afternoon against Newcastle. For most of the game, the home crowd had focused on Alexander Isak, booing him relentlessly. That made the final seconds particularly intriguing. If Liverpool were going to get one chance to save the match, many expected the £125m striker might take it.
He did not.
Instead, Dominik Szoboszlai stepped forward and smashed the penalty past Lukas Hornicek. Clean strike, no drama, no argument once the ball hit the net. Liverpool had their draw, and Newcastle had escaped the scenario they had feared all afternoon.
This is where the discussion starts. Mohamed Salah had been Liverpool's regular penalty taker until his summer exit, and that role is now open. Isak has the profile and status to claim it. Szoboszlai has the technique and, after this, the evidence.

The final few spots on the Detroit Lions' 53-man roster probably won't be decided by who catches the most passes or records the most tackles during the preseason.
They may be decided by Dave Fipp.
Detroit's special teams coordinator offered several revealing comments this week about how the Lions evaluate players near the bottom of the roster. With cutdown day approaching, Fipp's observations provide clues about the competitions at linebacker, running back and wide receiver, while also showing why some apparent roster bubble players may have more security than their offensive or defensive roles suggest.
Special teams isn't simply a tiebreaker for Detroit. For certain players, it's the reason they're on the roster at all.
Fipp's most important comment wasn't about one particular player. It was about how NFL roster construction has changed.

At the height of his WWE career, Adam Copeland (FKA Edge) had the perfect dance partner in John Cena. When the latter retired from professional wrestling in 2025, Copeland was a member of the AEW roster, causing the world to miss out on the two legendary rivals colliding one final time.
That didn't mean there wasn't some openness to the idea, though — at least on one side. Copeland, who's currently one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions with his longtime friend and fellow wrestling legend Christian Cage, revealed Tuesday on "The Ariel Helwani Show" that a Cena match was entirely possible. He fully believes AEW founder Tony Khan would have allowed the groundbreaking crossover dream match.
It all came down to WWE being willing to play ball.
"Here's what I realized: They could link [doors] to each other. One place doesn't want it to. So, OK," Copeland told Uncrowned.
"Absolutely [Khan would have allowed it]. I truly believe that. Because he knows what it would have meant to a very large segment of the wrestling fans. And that's important."
