The decisive stage of the 2026 CONMEBOL Sudamericana quarterfinals is about to begin! This Tuesday (8), at 9:30 p.m., in Buenos Aires, Tricolor will face Boca Juniors (ARG) in the first leg.

Tonight's match will mark the reunion between the Brazilians and Argentines after nearly 19 years: the last game took place on September 26, 2007, and ended in a 1-0 win for São Paulo at MorumBIS in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana. The teams have already faced each other seven times at La Bombonera, with two wins for São Paulo, one draw, and four wins for the home side. Tricolor won on October 10, 1995, by 3-2, in the Supercopa, and on January 25, 1961, by 5-1, in the South American Octagonal.

After a 1-1 draw in regular time — including a goal conceded at 96' after VAR intervention — Tricolor came out on top in the penalty shootout.
Lucho Acosta blasted his effort over, but the Tricolor idol saved two spot-kicks to secure a 5-4 win.
Qualification that came after going down to 10 men, frustration in stoppage time, and a turnaround in the shootout.

There was a time when São Paulo was a model of organization and victories, both domestically and internationally.
Not for nothing, the club became known as "Sovereign."
But the current reality is very different. And sad for Tricolor fans.
Three-time winners of both the Libertadores and the Club World Cup, São Paulo now languish in 13th place in the Brasileirão with 27 points and have to settle for competing in the Copa Sudamericana.
The Paulista Tricolor, in fact, host Bolívar at MorumBIS this Tuesday (18) at 9:30 p.m. (Brasília time), needing a win to reach the quarterfinals (first leg: 1-1).

Inspired by the strength and resilience of the lotus flower, the new kit celebrates the athletes' leading role and marks another groundbreaking chapter in the partnership between New Balance and the club
New Balance and São Paulo Futebol Clube unveiled this Monday (17) the new third kit for the women's team for the 2026 season. For the first time in its history, the club will have an exclusive third kit for the women's team, in a launch that reinforces the players' prominence and marks another exclusive project by New Balance with São Paulo.
The new kit is part of the club's 2026 collection, which begins the countdown to the Tricolor's centenary and celebrates the so-called Tricolor DNA, a concept ***** ociated with the pioneering spirit and forward-thinking approach that are part of São Paulo's history. For the women's third shirt, New Balance sought to translate these elements through its own visual language, drawing inspiration from the lotus flower, a symbol of strength, resilience, and the ability to bloom even in the most challenging conditions.
The choice of the lotus flower is reflected both in the campaign's narrative and in the kit's visual design. In a lilac tone, the shirt features floral elements applied as a watermark throughout the piece. A subtle gradient at the bottom adds depth to the look and highlights the presence of these graphics in a refined way that is fully integrated into the fabric.
The result is a piece that combines a contemporary aesthetic with symbols that reinforce the identity of the women's team. Details include the São Paulo crest in 3D TPU with a glossy finish, featuring the inscription Tricolor DNA inside, as well as the New Balance logo, also in 3D TPU. The collar, made with layered fabric and ribbing, and the cuff in contrasting fabric complete the design. Made from 100% recycled polyester, the new kit is designed for comfort and performance, using breathable fabrics with NB Dry technology on the front and sleeves, helping absorb and quickly evaporate sweat during sports activities.

On August 17, 1975, São Paulo beat Portuguesa 3-0 on penalties, after a 1-1 aggregate score over two deciding matches, and won the 1975 Campeonato Paulista, the 11th in the club's history.
The story of that **** le, however, begins a little more than nine months earlier, when Tricolor, on November 10, 1974, at Pacaembu, lost 2-1 to Palmeiras in a match from that season's Paulistão. The scoreline, seemingly irrelevant in the long run, would mark the start of a streak that São Paulo fans have never seen repeated to this day: 47 matches unbeaten.
From November 13, 1974, to August 3, 1975, São Paulo did not know defeat. There were 36 wins and 11 draws, with 39 of those matches counting for the Campeonato Paulista (either from 1974 — eight matches — or from 1975 — 31 clashes).
It was in the midst of this fine run that the Tricolor, coached by Jose Poy, began its 1975 Paulistão campaign. The tournament had one of the most controversial and complicated sets of rules of all time, with changes made during the competition itself.
It was contested by 19 teams in two stages, with the winners of each stage playing for the **** le in two final matches, unless one team won both stages. So far, so good. However, while the first stage was decided simply in a round-robin format, the second…

After a 1-1 draw with Coritiba this Saturday (15) at MorumBIS, in a match valid for the 23rd round of the Brasileirão, defensive midfielder Pablo Maia spoke in the mixed zone.
"It's hard to talk. I think we have to be more focused throughout the whole game, not just for part of it. I think we have to stay alert, stay focused, and give our best every single minute. We had a first half in which we managed to impose what the coach told us to do. So I think we have to work on this point of concentration from the beginning to the end of the game," he said.
The player also praised the fans' support and asked them to show up for the match against Bolívar-BOL next Tuesday (18) in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana.
"Starting tomorrow, we have to switch gears because we have a very important game on Tuesday, here at MorumBIS, with the support of our fans. Today they supported us, and I hope they support us again on Tuesday so that we can give our best together with them," he concluded.
Tricolor's next challenge will be against Bolívar-BOL on Tuesday (18) at 9:30 p.m., once again at MorumBIS, in the second leg of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana round of 16. In the Brasileirão, São Paulo return to the field against Chapecoense on Sunday (23) at 6:30 p.m. at Arena Condá, in Chapecó (SC).

"Like an owl that flew far in search of a home, I found a place for my heart to live." And Tricolor is Calleri's home, as he has renewed his contract with the club until December 31, 2028, with an option to extend it through the end of 2029 based on a sporting target — his previous deal was valid until December 31, 2026.
Champion of the 2023 Copa do Brasil and the 2024 Supercopa do Brasil, Jonathan Calleri has built a journey marked by goals and countless demonstrations of love for São Paulo across his two spells at the club.
"I'm very happy and very grateful to the São Paulo fans. I'm very happy to stay with you for two more years. I hope to bring great joy to our supporters," celebrated the 32-year-old Argentine center forward.
After a short spell in 2016, when he was a semifinalist and top scorer in the CONMEBOL Libertadores with nine goals, the striker returned in August 2021 to reaffirm his connection with the São Paulo fans.
Calleri has made 262 appearances for Tricolor, with 91 goals and 30 ****** ists, and has racked up a number of scoring marks: São Paulo's top scorer this season (12 goals so far), São Paulo's all-time top scorer in the CONMEBOL Libertadores (14 goals), MorumBIS' highest-scoring foreign player (54 goals), the highest-scoring foreign player in the Brazilian Championship (47 goals), and the highest-scoring foreign player in knockout matches (14 goals). He is also the club's second-highest foreign scorer overall (91 goals), third-highest scorer in international competitions (17 goals), and fourth-highest scorer for Tricolor in the 21st century (91 goals).

At nearly 4,000 meters above sea level in La Paz, Bolivia, São Paulo drew 1-1 with Bolívar on Tuesday (11) in the first leg of the 2026 Conmebol Sudamericana round of 16.
Highlights coming up shortly
Tricolor Paulista positioned themselves well on the pitch and opened the scoring through Arboleda in the first half.
It was the Ecuadorian center-back's first goal after leaving the club midway through the season, only to be brought back into the squad after being backed by director Rafinha.
However, despite a solid first half, São Paulo could not withstand the opposition's pressure.

Over nearly 150 years of football in Brazil, the phrase "There are things that only happen to Botafogo" has become a kind of "intangible national heritage."
But the current situation at São Paulo Futebol Clube is quickly moving toward replacing Glorioso in the country's folklore.
Simply put, hours before the match against Bolívia, in the first leg of the Conmebol Sudamericana 2026 round of 16, the bus that was supposed to be used by the Tricolor squad was seized with 86.5 kg of marijuana on board!
The bus company that had been hired provided another vehicle for the São Paulo delegation, which was not even informed of the police incident.
But folklore quickly catches on with the people.

Fluminense take the field this Tuesday (11) at the Maracanã at 7 p.m. (Brasília time) to face Independiente Rivadavia in the first leg of the 2026 Conmebol Libertadores Round of 16.
The return leg will be next Tuesday (18) at Estádio Malvinas Argentinas, at the same time.
Also, because they had the worst overall campaign in the group stage, the Tricolor das Laranjeiras will always play the second leg away from home through the semifinals.
The 2026 Libertadores final — once again a single-match final — is scheduled for November 28 at Estadio Centenario in Uruguay.

Grêmio is still looking in the market to sign a center-back to partner Gustavo Martins, following the departure of Viery, who was sold to Fiorentina.
According to ge, the coaching staff believes that veteran Kannemann, at 35, does not have the physical condition to cope with an intense marathon of matches.
The Tricolor's problem is its financial limitations when it comes to investing in a replacement. The club has a strict wage cap and wants to avoid major spending on the purchase of economic rights.
The names of Argentines Matías Moreno and Nicolás Valentini, both linked to Fiorentina, have emerged as alternatives for the position.
Talks for Moreno, however, have not progressed. The player prefers to remain in European football, and the Italian club is demanding a permanent transfer, which rules out the loan model sought by the Gaúchos.

São Paulo and Corinthians were each punished by FIFA with a transfer ban this Tuesday, according to ge.
As a result, Tricolor is temporarily prohibited from registering new players. In Timão's case, this is the fourth accumulated transfer ban (three from FIFA and one from the CBF).
In São Paulo's case, the sanction stems from the delayed payment of 1.05 million euros (around R$ 6.08 million) to Lazio, of Italy, related to the first installment for the signing of midfielder Marcos Antônio.
The measure directly affects the team's planning. Although defensive midfielder Newton was registered with the CBF in time, the recently announced Aurélio Buta and Victor Sá still do not have legal clearance to play. The punishment also prevents the completion and registration of center-back Domingos Duarte's signing.
In Corinthians' case, the new transfer ban is related to the non-payment for defensive midfielder Charles to Midtjylland, of Denmark, in 2024.
