This Saturday (22), Fluminense came from behind to beat Remo 2-1 at the Maracanã, in the 24th round of the 2026 Brasileirão.
After the match, president Matheus Montenegro gave a brief statement to announce that Marcão has been officially confirmed as coach of the Tricolor team through the end of 2026.
"Fluminense is not going to the market looking for another coach because we have a lot of trust not only in Marcão, but in the club's entire coaching staff. And we're going together. We're going all the way. We're staying strong and expecting great things for ourselves this year."
A member of Fluminense's permanent coaching staff, Marcão took charge of the team on an interim basis after Argentine coach Luis Zubeldía was dismissed.
The Tricolor idol and former defensive midfielder made his debut with a 3-2 win over Palmeiras last Saturday (15), and then led the team in the "Battle of Mendoza," which secured Flu a place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Conmebol Libertadores.
