Three academy players scored their first goals for Athletic Club's senior side inside four minutes as Edin Terzić's team beat Prat 6-1 in the Copa del Rey. The late burst came from substitutes in a side rotated with the Basque derby in mind.
On Thursday 29 October, Athletic met Prat in the Copa del Rey round of 128. The tie was played at the Estadi La Feixa Llarga in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Its closing stages belonged to Athletic's academy.

Let's start where it ended: The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Red Wings 4-1 at Little Caesars Arena in their ugliest performance of the season.
The Hawks fell to 0-5 on the road and 4-9-0 overall and cap their two-game trip against the 9-4-1 Boston Bruins on Saturday in a Halloween matinee. It was their fifth straight game scoring two goals or fewer.
But the chaos of the day started hours earlier when Red Wings coach Todd McLellan announced that center Dylan Larkin would not play.
Larkin had told the Red Wings he no longer wanted to play for the organization and reiterated his trade demand. The team suspended him without pay Thursday, costing him $41,000 per day in salary and drawing ire from Red Wings fans who already were upset with the former captain.

After an early 3-1 Ducks lead, the Buffalo Sabres scored six consecutive goals, including a Thompson hat trick, to extend Anaheim's home woes and hold off the Ducks, 7-6, on Thursday at Honda Center.
Anaheim (5-7-1, 11 points) has now lost seven of its last eight games and have started just 1-4-1 at home. Ducks have allowed 21 goals in their last four games, 29 goals in their last six games and 36 in the last eight games. Anaheim is 1-6-1 in that stretch.
Mikael Granlund and Cutter Gauthier opened the scoring on a five-on-three power play, and Roger McQueen netted his first career NHL goal later in the third period.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Logan Cooley completed a hat trick against his hometown team with a second left, Mikhail Sergachev scored at 3:27 of overtime and the Utah Mammoth stunned the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 on Thursday night.
After Ben Kindel put Pittsburgh ahead 3-2 with 25 seconds left, Cooley — playing his third NHL game in Pittsburgh — batted the puck in from the left side of the net for sixth goal in four games and seventh of the season.
Cooley became the third Pittsburgh native with a hat trick against the Penguins, joining Brandon Saad and R.J. Umberger. At age 5, Cooley took part in Sidney Crosby's first Little Penguins Learn to Play Hockey program.
Cooley scored for the first time in seven games against Pittsburgh. He had two first-period goals to give the Mammoth an early 2-0 lead, and scored in the third for his third career hat trick.

Florida State soccer beat Duke, 2-1, on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Seminole Soccer Complex for the program's 500th win.
It's a critical win for the Seminoles (8-2-3) as the program currently sits just outside of the top six in the ACC standings. Those six programs make the ACC tournament. With results elsewhere in the league, FSU sits in eighth place, level on points with Miami, which it faces on Sunday, and one point behind Louisville in sixth.
First-half goals from Shaniel Buckley and Tanner Strickland put the Seminoles ahead in the opening 15 minutes. Both goals came within minutes of each other.
Moments after a Kate Ockene save forced a Duke corner kick, Buckley dribbled the length of the field before she calmly slotted her finish home past Blue Devil keeper Molly Vapensky in the 10th minute.
In the 13th minute, Strikland was first to react to a corner kick fired into the box, and her volleyed strike deflected off a Duke defender and into the net to double the lead. The Seminoles remained in control for much of the half, but errant communication between Ockene and Bridget Mutipula gifted the Blue Devils a goal.

Penn State has not won a Big Ten game yet this year. The schedule to start the year has turned out to be a lot tougher than most people probably thought going in. Given the turnover at the top, what was expected of Penn State by fans coming into this season?
I predicted a 9-3 season. Some others on our site were at least mentioning the word playoff in the offseason. Personally, I thought Penn State would have enough experience with Matt Campbell's system considering that there would be so much continuity with so many players making the move from Iowa State. A lot of that optimism was tied to the schedule. Unlike 2025 where Penn State jumped right into the deep end with a showdown against Oregon in conference play, this year seemed like it would give some runway for the Lions to work things out before a Whiteout matchup against USC. That seemed to be the plan until halftime of the Wisconsin game. From that 17-0 lead against the Badgers, the Lions have struggled mightily.
Three of the four Big Ten losses have come by 8 or fewer points. Is this a situation where Penn State may be 0-4 but they could very easily be 3-1? I guess the crux of my question is, is Penn State better than their record reflects?
I think it should be at least 1-3. The Wisconsin loss was egregious. Penn State led from the start. They could never quite put away the Badgers, had to settle for field goals, committed a brutal turnover, and then allowed a couple of long conversions in the loss. This team isn't as talented as last year's Penn State team, but there are some similarities. They've had second half leads in three of the four losses, just as last year's Penn State team lost fourth quarter/overtime leads to Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, and Northwestern.

Ohio State will travel to Southern California to take on USC for the first time since the Trojans joined the Big Ten on Saturday. It's a pivotal game for both teams, with USC needing a win to stay within arm's reach of the conference ****** le and stay in the running for a College Football Playoff spot. The Buckeyes have those goals also in mind but more in the driver's seat, a place they'd rather not relinquish.

Harpeth Hall outlasted Christ Presbyterian Academy, 2-1, to capture the 2026 TSSAA girls soccer state championship in Division II-AA at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga on Oct. 29.
It's the first championship for Harpeth Hall since 2021 and the program's third overall, including its 2013 ******* le. It was the Honeybears' first state tournament appearance since 2024 and first state championship appearance since 2023.
Harpeth Hall upset three-time defending state champion Baylor, 1-0, in the semifinals on Oct. 28 to advance to the championship.
Alexa Sarb and Olivia Grace Akatue scored Harpeth Hall's two goals. But it was CPA's Livi Langan that opened the scoring with a goal 7:31 into the game. That came off a CPA corner kick 30 seconds earlier as CPA chased its first state ******* le since 2018.
Harpeth Hall (17-8-4) would slowly build momentum after giving up that opening goal, taking four of the next five shots in the game before Akatue's equalizer in the 27th minute off an ******* ist from Sarb.

As Alex Ovechkin makes his retirement tour, the Nashville Predators are the latest team to give him a parting gift.
Ovehckin, 41, announced on Oct. 5 that will be his last season in the NHL.
The Predators gave Ovechkin a black custom Gibson guitar, complete with an inscription on the pick guard which reads "Alex Ovechkin No. 8." and has Predators and Capitals team logos.
The caption reads "A Music City gift for the "Gr8"... Congrats to Alex Ovechkin on an incredible career!"
Ovechkin's first NHL season came in 2005-06, more than a year after he was selected No. 1 overall at the 2004 NHL Draft. The NHL lockout in 2004-05 delayed Ovechkin's arrival, but it was worth the wait. He scored 52 goals as a 20-year-old, winning the Calder Trophy (rookie of the year) easily.

The guy who sent it there, Kirill Kaprizov, leads the NHL with 10 goals in nine games and makes $17 million a season. There wasn't much Talbot could've done, even with an unobstructed view of Kaprizov's shot, but the veteran backstop wore it anyway.
"Yeah, I think I gave him a little bit too much [to shoot at]," Talbot said. "He put it in a great spot, but the other four guys are doing their job. That's my guy. I've got to make that save."
Talbot's answer plus his impressive ability to remain solid into his upper 30s is how he became the first goalie in NHL history to play and win games for nine separate franchises during his Blue Jackets debut Oct. 9 in a victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Henderson was a surprise signing at Chelsea in the summer, with the veteran arriving from Brentford on a free transfer.

The under-13s were the second Meninos da Vila team to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the Campeonato Paulista! They beat RB Bragantino again, this time 5–1 at CT Rei Pelé, with two goals from Davi Lucas and one each from Guilherme Henrique, Enzo Donizete and Kauan Lisboa!
Having won the first leg 1–0, they advanced 6–1 on aggregate and now await their next opponents.
At under-14 level, another win and another qualification for the Meninos da Vila! The team thrashed EC São Bernardo 5–0 at CT Rei Pelé on Sunday afternoon (18) to secure a place in the quarterfinals! Peixe advanced 6–0 on aggregate!
Felipe Rafael scored twice, with Kauan Basile, Phelipe Thomas and Madson Matos also finding the net for Peixe.
The team now also awaits confirmation from the FPF to find out who their next opponents will be!
