Jennifer Garner opened up about how a career rejection led her to Alias. The 54-year-old, best known for playing Sydney Bristow in the action-thriller series, once auditioned for The West Wing but was turned down.
Garner appeared on Aspire With Emma Grede on August 25. During the interview, she opened up about nearly landing a role on The West Wing but lost the part. She said, "I always think back to this audition for The West Wing. It was for a new role, and God, I wanted it so badly. And I got down, and I tested for it. When I didn't get it, I had to go to the desert. It was my first time in Palm Springs by myself, and I just sat there for a couple of days."
Garner also reflected on her career after separating from Ben Affleck in 2015. She described, "I panicked when I was first out of my marriage and realized I had taken such a step back in my work, and suddenly I realized, like, 'I don't know how long I'll be able to work.'" She admitted that she became concerned about her financial future after stepping back from acting. She said she needed to find work that allowed her to support her children.
Although losing the role was difficult, Garner's next big break came just two weeks later. She was offered Alias. J.J. Abrams created the ABC series, which ran for five seasons between 2001 and 2006. The actress starred alongside Ron Rifkin, Victor Garber, Michael Vartan, Bradley Cooper, Merrin Dungey, Carl Lumbly, Kevin Weisman, and Greg Grunberg. Her performance earned Garner a 2002 Golden Globe win and four Emmy nominations. As Alias grew in popularity, Garner landed major film roles. She appeared in Daredevil and Elektra before starring in 13 Going on 30.

In what might be the last publication of a revealing look at the credit conditions in the trucking industry, the quarterly earnings of bank BMO released Tuesday showed the stronger freight market impacting its numbers.

"I'm grateful that I'm alive," she said.
The tumor was discovered after Philipps did a Prenuvo MRI scan. She did it despite her doctors saying it wasn't needed because she was young and did not have any symptoms but she felt the need to do it anyway.
The day before the scan was scheduled, Philipps' friend and former "Dawson's Creek" co-star James Van Der Beek lost his battle with cancer and the day after the scan she was set to meet with "Cupertino" creators Michelle and Robert King. She wondered if because of all that if she should just cancel the scan but a conversation with her ex-husband Marc Silverstein convinced her to stick it out.

Despite strong sales and growing momentum, Hyundai (005380.KS) CEO Carlos Munoz is going on the offensive in the US.
Hyundai revealed at its 2026 CEO Investor Day today that it will build more of its cars on US soil and pack American showrooms with new hybrids and its first extended-range EV, the centerpiece of its most aggressive product push in its history. New trucks and even a mid-size Toyota Tacoma competitor are coming too.
Munoz is betting on localized US production and that a wave of in-demand hybrids can lift profits and rev sales even as the overall US car market sits in neutral.
"Our fundamentals have never been stronger. Hyundai Motor Group is the third-largest automotive group and the second-most profitable, which gives us the ability to invest while others are pulling back," Muñoz said in a presentation. The company is bringing "more than 100 new models to market by 2030 with multiple powertrain options" while "raising our operating margin above 9 percent."
Of particular importance is the upcoming Santa Fe midsize SUV EREV [Extended Range Electric Vehicle], due in the first half of 2027 and built at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama. It pairs a battery with an onboard charger for more than 600 miles of range.

One who is generating a lot more attention in recent weeks is defensive lineman Aeneas Peebles. The flashes have been difficult to miss. Whether it's disrupting plays in practice, creating pressure in preseason games, or earning praise from his coaches, Peebles has steadily worked his way into the conversation as one of Baltimore's more intriguing depth pieces along the defensive front.
Head coach Jesse Minter recently pointed to the playmaking instincts that keep showing up on tape. Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver echoed that, offering an even more revealing ****** sment. During a recent conversation with reporters, Weaver was asked about Peebles' development and what he has seen from the young defensive lineman.
