Ted Danson has revealed he will "apologise for the rest of (his) life" for doing a roast of Whoopi Goldberg in Blackface.
During an appearance on an episode of the podcast Who's With Me?, Danson expressed his enduring regret over the 1993 incident.
The Cheers actor had been romantically involved with Goldberg at the time, and took part in a private event at the New York Friars Club that included jokes about the couple's ***** life and racial slurs.
The roast sparked a backlash from the crowd attending, as well as New York City's first Black mayor, David N. ***** ins, and Danson remains horrified at his behaviour.
"I need to and want to apologise for the rest of my life because somebody today can go on the internet and go, 'What the f**k? Wow, I feel betrayed, I feel angry.' And I did that," the 78-year-old actor shared.
Danson went on to reveal that his romance with Goldberg had been fizzling out at the time, and he had attempted to remove himself from the roast. However, the star claimed he had to go ahead with the appearance because the Friars Club had "sold so many tickets".

Anna Faris may have added a glitzy touch to her sartorial agenda at the red carpet premiere of Scary Movie on June 3, but all eyes were on her son, Jack Pratt, who posed beside her.
The actress wore a black sequin halter neck-dress that featured a figure-hugging silhouette and daring cutouts on the sides to expose her sculpted abs. Anna's icy-blonde locks were swept back into an elegant updo while her makeup oozed soft glam, courtesy of a smoky eye and a glossy lip.
Meanwhile, Jack looked sweet dressed in a sleek black suit that was layered over a crisp white shirt and styled with white sneakers. He also wore a pair of tinted-framed glasses. The pair were also joined on the carpet by Anna's husband, Michael Barrett, and his daughter Margot Barrett.
Anna and Chris Pratt first met back in 2007 when they starred together in the rom-com Take Me Home Tonight. The pair got engaged the following year before tying the knot in 2009 with a ceremony in Indonesia. The former couple welcomed Jack, 13, in 2012 before they separated in 2017.
Chris and Anna cited "irreconcilable differences" at the time and filed for joint custody of their son. As part of their divorce agreement, the former couple agreed to live within five miles of each other for five years to make sure their co-parenting dynamic was not disruptive for their son.

Odessa A'zion is a hugger. The 25-year-old springs from a sofa on the rooftop terrace of the Chopard Suite at the Hôtel Martinez for a welcome embrace amid a dizzying 24 hours at the Cannes Film Festival. The night before, A'zion made her Cannes debut by hitting the Palais red carpet to face a crush of photographers while standing alongside actor Connor Swindells, French legend Isabelle Huppert and Chopard's Caroline Scheufele. They then made their way to Carlton Beach for a late night Chopard Trophy ceremony during which A'zion and Swindells were honored by Huppert as next-generation talents in front of Demi Moore, Chloe Zhao, Stellan Skarsgard, Ruth Negga, James Franco, Riley Keough, Nicky Hilton, Xavier Dolan and others. A'zion gave a speech — describing the experience as "really weird, crazy and surreal" — stayed for dessert and ducked out for a cameo at the hottest party in Cannes for her I Love LA co-star Jordan Firstman's directorial debut Club Kid. Then it was time for bed to get few hours of rest ahead of a full day of Chopard press to honor the occasion, accessorized by sparkling diamonds and a breathtaking view of the French Riviera over her shoulder. Post hug, The Hollywood Reporter spent 20 minutes with the Marty Supreme star to talk about her Cannes adventure, how Josh Safdie's film changed her life, what she learned from the backlash surrounding her Deep Cuts casting and why she's fiercely protective of her personal life.

Not many things, from deadly snakes to big cats, unnerved the late Steve Irwin, but when it came to the "naughty parrot," the wildlife expert would get slightly nervous, according to his wife.
"You might not know this, but the only animal that made Steve a little nervous was the naughty parrot!" Irwin's wife, Terri Irwin, wrote in a May 30 post on Instagram alongside a photo of her late husband and a red parrot. "Every parrot tried to get in a quick bite before Steve could react!"
Irwin, who was popularly known as the "crocodile hunter" for his abilities to capture and safely secure problem crocs, died on Sept. 4, 2006, after a stingray struck him in the heart as he was working on the underwater film "Ocean’s Deadliest" in Australia. He was 44. The famed conversationalist is survived by his wife, Terri Irwin, and two children, Robert Irwin, "Dancing With the Stars" Season 34 winner, and Bindi Irwin, who is also a "Dancing With the Stars" winner.
Robert Irwin is a wildlife conservationist, television presenter, zookeeper and the son of the late Steve Irwin, famously known as "The Crocodile Hunter." On Sept. 16, he made his debut on "Dancing with the Stars."
