The Championship season is on the horizon, and while Cardiff City are yet to make any new additions to their squad, boss Brian Barry-Murphy has committed his future to the club.
Barry-Murphy, 44, signed an extended contract until 2029 this week ahead of leading the Bluebirds back into the second tier following promotion as League One runners-up.
The Irishman said after Cardiff's pre-season opener against FC Midtjylland that he had "never felt anything other than support" from owner Vincent Tan.

A New Orleans Saints fan favorite is heading elsewhere. Taysom Hill, the do-it-all athlete who played everything from quarterback to special teams, announced Wednesday night he's leaving the Saints after nine seasons.
Hill developed into one of the NFL's most exciting and unique players under longtime Saints coach Sean Payton, making starts at quarterback, tight end and fullback while also playing snaps at wide receiver and running back. He finishes his Saints career 7-2 as a starting QB, and over 118 games he recorded 2,426 and 12 touchdowns passing plus 3,585 yards and 45 touchdowns rushing and receiving.
Kellen Moore took over the Saints in 2025 and Hill's role diminished significantly, so this move doesn't come at a complete shock.
In a statement shared on social media, Hill thanked New Orleans for its support and said he's "still working through what comes next" in regard to his career.
"I had always heard, 'If you love New Orleans, New Orleans will love you back,'" Hill's statement read. "That could not have been more true. You exceeded every expectation I had of what it would be like to live and play in a city. It's always interesting to see what Notre Dame football players do after their playing careers are over, and for one former running back, it's teaching the profession to high school athletes.
Tony Jones Jr. played a big role during his time in South Bend from 2016-2019, scoring 12 touchdowns while rushing for 1,481-yards with 273-yards receiving and two more scores. With Roberto De Zerbi naming a stronger side than the one he selected against Auckland FC, Spurs started on the front foot and looked much the better side, without being able to convert that dominance into goals, with an excellent Mathys Tel free kick Spurs' lone goal. Following Sydney FC equalizing in the second half, the match went to penalties where Spurs held their nerve to win the shootout 2-4, with Joe Lacey hitting the post and Martin Dubravka saving Alexandar Popovic's attempt.
Here's a deep dive into a few things I took away from Spurs' latest preseason fixture.
In preseason, it's always hard to determine tactically what exactly is due to managerial instructions, the opposition, the players on the pitch, or a combination of all three. What was clear though was that Spurs were very much operating in an asymmetrical nature in a variation to their typical 4-2-3-1.

City have jetted off for their pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Seoul, but Enzo Maresca is yet to name the new club captain.
