New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel doesn't have any regrets about his decision to rest the starters during the three-game preseason slate.
However, it was clear that the team showed rust in Wednesday's 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Vrabel opted to use the preseason to focus on the roster depth and preserve the health of the starters.
That's a decision that he continued to defend after the disappointing loss in the season opener.
"Playing the backups for the Eagles or the Colts for eight plays, I don't think was going to prepare us for what we saw last night," Vrabel told media members. "I thought we handled the environment; I thought we did. I know the execution wasn't good enough, but the line of scrimmage, penalties, the operation, those things gave us a chance. Some other things didn't give us a chance."

It's also a sign that the team is comfortable giving Kaelon black touches. Kyle Shanahan said this past offseason that he regrets not involving more running backs last season. It means you're taking Christian McCaffrey off the field, so it's understandable. Still, the goal is to keep McCaffrey fresh for the last stretch of the season.
With Watkins inactive, Mike Evans, De'Zhaun Stribling, Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing, and KhaDarel Hodge are the wideouts. If Samuel's role is more underneath, we'll see whether that means Cowing has a role as the receiver who stretches the field for the offense.

Chubb played seven of his eight seasons in Cleveland, where he compiled the third-most rushing yards (6,843) and rushing touchdowns (51) in franchise history.
A major knee injury in 2023 kind of derailed Chubb's career and forced him to retire earlier than he might have otherwise. Despite this though, he walks away from the football field with no regrets.
"I say this to all my brothers still on the field, still in the heat of it: There's a life waiting for you after football, too. And health is the real wealth," Chubb said regarding retirement. That's the conclusion from a new Teachers Insurance and Annuity ****** ociation of America (TIAA) study.
TIAA found that 76% of American retirees regret not starting to save earlier in their lives, while nearly the same amount (71%) wish they'd put away more money overall (1). The report also cited a "striking gap" between retirement and reality, and that variable can bring severe savings shortages to the table. Regrets were particularly common among younger retirees, with the average study respondent saying they left the workforce at age 57.

Ron Howard has spoken about the "regret" he has over his brother's addiction.
The filmmaker, 72, has told how his younger brother Clint, now 67, began experimenting with drugs and alcohol as a young adult.
"I had been really strictly controlled as a kid. My parents must have been worried about kidnapping and other things," Howard said in an interview on In Depth with Graham Bensinger.
"So I pushed mom and dad. To give him more freedom and more flexibility. And even when Clint was starting to smoke pot and things like that... I wasn't using any drugs, but I had really good friends who were and were highly functional and socially responsible about it. And I just I said, 'You know, this is not, it's not a nightmare. This is changing times, relax,' " he continued.
He revealed that in hindsight, he felt like "a voice kind of telling them to back off as parents," adding if they hadn't been so lenient, "they might have been able to do something." He admitted, "And so those are regrets that I have."

"If I knew then what I know now about who Epstein really was, I never would have accepted an initial meeting with him. It was a mistake to deal with him, and I regret it," Ruemmler said, according to prepared remarks provided to CNN. Reporting from CNN's KFILE detailed the extent of her relationship with Epstein, including that she was among a small group of advisers to help him ward off legal and reputational risk during the final years of his life.

As his trade to the Miami Heat was finalized on Monday, Antetokounmpo posted a video on YouTube in which he discussed his mixed emotions with former Bucks broadcaster Jim Paschke. He posted a shorter video on social media bidding farewell to Milwaukee.
“I’m scared that the grass is not always greener. … People love me here,” Antetokounmpo said in the interview with Paschke, which lasted nearly 37 minutes. “People respect me here. People allow me to be myself here in the city. And I’m scared that I might never find that ever again.”
