When the Los Angeles Lakers landed Luka Doncic in a stunning trade with the Dallas Mavericks in February 2025, it was like they had won the Powerball jackpot. Doncic was just 25 years of age at the time, and it reset their entire timeline at a point when it looked like their opportunities to win another NBA championship with LeBron James and Anthony Davis had run out.
Doncic averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 **** ists a game last season, and he may be just beginning the prime of his career. He is a nightmare for opposing defenses in the NBA, and in the mind of Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey, he would also be a nightmare for one of the biggest villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Maxey was asked in a video for Complex which NBA player could defeat Thanos in a game of one-on-one, and he said it would be Doncic.
"Probably Luka. Luka just ain't scared of nothing, you know what I mean? I can see Luka on an island, one-on-oneing Thanos…I think Luka can step back pretty much anybody. I don't think Thanos would scare him at all."
Indeed, Doncic's step-back 3-pointer likely gives many an NBA player bad dreams at night and is very difficult to defend. His superpower on the basketball court seems to be his ability to accelerate, then come to an abrupt stop and go backwards in the reverse direction. It is the type of motion that seems to put his defenders in cement, so to speak, and allows him to gain enough separation to get off a jump shot.

(NEXSTAR) – The Powerball jackpot has, once again, reached the $1 billion mark after no ticket was able to match the winning numbers drawn earlier this week.
Hours after the drawing Monday night, game officials estimated the jackpot at $975 million, but further review ******* ped the grand prize up to the rare estimated value of $1 billion with a cash value of $422.3 million.
The current jackpot now ranks as the eighth-largest in Powerball history, just $80 million away from tying for the No. 7 spot:
$2.04 billion: Nov. 7, 2022; California
$1.817 billion: Dec. 24, 2025; Arkansas

A United States Postal Service employee was arrested last week for allegedly stealing a winning Pick 4 Florida lottery ticket that was sent through the mail and claiming the prize, according to the state's lottery.
The Florida Lottery Division of Security and the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General launched a joint investigation after a Florida Lottery player reported that a winning ticket she had sent through the mail never reached its intended destination, the Florida Lottery said in a statement Friday.
Investigators learned the ticket was redeemed on July 19 at a Florida Lottery office in Miami by Lakaysha Lockhart, who was later identified as a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier, officials said.
Powerball ticket sales begin Tuesday in the United Kingdom
Lockhart was arrested on July 23 and later admitted to stealing the ticket and redeeming it, according to the Florida Lottery.

The Powerball jackpot climbed to $526 million with a cash value of $233.5 million ahead of the Saturday, July 18, drawing.
Since launching in 1992, Powerball jackpots have been hit more than 400 times. Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin rank among the states with the most jackpot-winning tickets.
Though no one took home the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday, one person from Louisiana took home $2 million. The last time someone won Powerball's top prize was on May 2; on that night, two players split a $20 million prize.
Here is what you need to know about Saturday night's Powerball drawing.

Who among us could use a spare half a billion dollars? In this economy? Even with inflation, that’s a lot of dough.
The Powerball jackpot is once again climbing it small island owning levels of jackpots with the Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, prize of $546 million. That means some lucky winner could win a $255 million cash prize if they choose a one-time payout.
To win Powerball, players have to buy a ticket matching all five numbers and the Powerball — the odds of winning were 1 in 292,201,338 — and have the option to select a one-time cash payout worth $826.4 million instead of annual payments.
