Teenage striker Fynn Schenten of 1. FC Köln is set to continue his development in the Netherlands with Roda JC Kerkrade. As previously reported, the season-long loan contains no purchase option, reflecting Köln's belief that the 18-year-old remains a long-term first-team prospect. Schenten joined the club at the age of eight and progressed through every academy level at the Geißbockheim before helping Köln win the German under-19 championship.
He signed a professional contract through 2030 in January and has already made seven Bundesliga appearances. The move should provide regular senior minutes before Schenten returns to challenge for a permanent place in Köln's attack.
Raised in Bonn, Schenten joined Köln's academy at eight and progressed through every youth team. Last season, he scored six goals in five UEFA Youth League matches, including against Inter Milan before a record sellout crowd at the RheinEnergieStadion. "One of our goals is to integrate as many players as possible from the FC Academy into the professional team," Köln technical director Lukas Berg noted in a club statement. In Roda Kerkrade, we've found a suitable club where he'll be close to home, yet still have the opportunity to take the next steps in his development."

As expected, Zinédine Zidane has been appointed coach of the French men' national team in succession of Didier Deschamps, the French Football Federation (FFF) has said.
FFF president Philippe Diallo named Zidane "a legend of French football" in a news conference and said that Zidane has signed a contract until 2030.
Zidane, 54, won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 as a player of a team captained by Deschamps. His only coaching experience are two terms at Real Madrid 2016-2018 and 2019-2021 during which he won three Champions Leagues and two LaLigas.
"I've said it many times: there's nothing bigger than the French national team. So it's a pleasure and, of course, a great honour to become coach of this French national team. But it's also a responsibility," Zidane said in a federation statement.
The three-time World Player of the Year had long been considered the top contender to take over from Deschamps who stepped down after 14 years in charge after the recent World Cup.

Eintracht Frankfurt's previously reported signing of Brazilian centre back Otávio has been officially confirmed. Almost all reliable German footballing media sources confirm that the Bundesliga club has paid €4.5m to secure the 20-year-old's services. Otávio's new contract in Hessen runs through 2031. It's no secret how badly Bayern Munich wanted to sign Nick Woltemade, but there was a ceiling to what they were willing to pay in order to get him. Apparently, that ceiling was offensive to VfB Stuttgart chairman Alexander Wehrle.
According to a report from Goal, Wehrle took a "swipe" at Bayern Munich during the club's annual general meeting, addressing both transfer negotiations and fan support.
Speaking to club members, Wehrle revisited the high-profile transfer saga involving the striker. Despite rumors that Woltemade had previously settled on personal terms with the Bavarian giants, Bayern's valuation peaked at €60 million, considerably less than the selling price. Stuttgart held firm on their evaluation of at least €75 million for the attacker before eventually reaching an agreement with Newcastle United, who met, and exceeded, their asking price. Wehrle dismissed any notion that Stuttgart was acting out of spite towards Bayern, explaining that the financial proposal from Munich amounted to little more than "a ****** er pretzel."

Jack Draper has pulled out of this week's Mubadala DC Open with an arm injury, tournament officials have announced.
It is the latest setback for the 24-year-old, who has been dogged by fitness issues throughout the year and missed the first three grand slam events.
The former world No 4, who has now fallen to a ranking of 147, had been due to play American Alex Michelsen in the first round.
A statement on X read: "Jack Draper has withdrawn from the tournament with a left arm injury. He will be replaced in the draw by lucky loser Mackenzie McDonald."
It is understood that Draper has withdrawn to focus on next month's ATP Tour events in Montreal and Cincinnati, although he would need a wild card in both, and the US Open, for which he would probably need to qualify.

Former women's basketball coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton says she has reached a settlement with the University of Virginia after her sudden firing on April 5, a week after leading the Cavaliers to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.
Details of the settlement were not made public. Agugua-Hamilton shared a statement about it on her Instagram account after the ****** ociated Press published a story about the settlement.

According to a copy of Agugua-Hamilton's contract obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Virginia owed her a sizable buyout if she was terminated without cause. The contract stipulates that Virginia would have to pay her the remaining amount of her base salary, 80% of supplemental compensation, 80% of royalties and any bonuses earned, but not yet received. According to the figures outlined in her contract — which ran through the 2027-28 season — Agugua-Hamilton would have been owed about $1.3 million.

The New York Giants on Monday announced the extent of a massive renovation project at their East Rutherford, N.J. headquarters.
In a statement released by the team, the Giants say the renovations will "expand and transform their team headquarters, anchored by a new and modern football-focused facility designed to elevate player performance, preparation, and recovery."
Work began several months ago, and is expected to be completed in advance of the 2028 season.
"This is a significant investment in the future of our football operation," said Giants President and CEO John Mara in a statement released by the team. "We believe it is our responsibility to provide our players, coaches, and staff with the resources and environment they need to succeed. As the game continues to evolve, we must continue to evolve with it. This project reflects our commitment to our people and to building a foundation that will support the New York Giants for years to come."
The project will include approximately 93,500 square feet of new construction and 46,000 square feet of renovations.

Since June, the Kentucky Republican's health has been a source of widespread speculation and interest. He has missed 38 roll call votes in the Senate, including on key measures such as the annual defense policy bill and ending the Iran war, as well as high-profile confirmation hearings for crucial Trump nominees like Todd Blanche, who is awaiting a vote to become the next attorney general.
All summer his office has provided only limited updates on his condition. But in a statement July 27, McConnell, 84, said he was still having "intense physical therapy" and wouldn't be able to travel to western Kentucky for the annual Fancy Farm picnic, a marquee political event in the state.
"As always, I appreciate all of your continued well wishes, and I'm looking forward to getting back to the Senate and to Kentucky soon," he said.
The Office of the Attending Physician, which provides medical services and guidance to members of Congress, said the lifelong effects of McConnell's bout with childhood polio continue to be a "significant factor in his mobility." Doctors visit with him every day.

For most of this summer, Real Madrid have consistently been reported to be looking to sign a new player for the right wing position. England's Gabriel Langton was conscious and talking after being rushed to hospirtal after a horror fall during the men's team gymnastics final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Langton, 19, landed on his head after coming off the horizontal bar, bringing the action inside the arena to a halt. He received medical treatment on the floor for several minutes before taken away on a stretcher wearing a head brace.
Langton was conscious, moving and speaking with doctors, team officials said.

BEIRUT (AP) — Kozo Okamoto, the ***** anese militant who took part in a deadly attack on Tel Aviv's airport more than five decades ago, died Thursday in Beirut, the Palestinian group that had been protecting him said. He was 78.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a faction that is the second-largest group in the Palestine Liberation Organization, said that Okamoto had been ill for a long time.
Okamoto, who made rare public appearances since he settled in Lebanon after being released from Israel, was known within the PFLP as Ahmad al-Yabani, or Ahmad the ***** anese.
The PFLP said in its statement that Okamoto's journey was "marked by immense sacrifices spanning for decades on the battlefields of struggle in support of the Palestinian cause." The Palestinian group added that Okamoto "never compromised nor faltered but remained steadfast to his principles."
Okamoto had served 12 years in an Israeli lockup for a May 30, 1972 attack on the international airport outside Tel Aviv that was thought to be carried out by members of the ***** anese Red Army guerrilla group in a joint operation with the PFLP.

It is the second straight year Sinner and Djokovic have skipped the tournament.
Sinner has played only one tournament (his successful Wimbledon ******* le defense) since his cramp-induced crashout at Roland-Garros in May. He didn't cite a specific injury or health reason for the withdrawal:
"After carefully considering all the factors together with my team, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from Montreal," Sinner explained in a statement. "It is never easy to miss such an important event, but we believe this is the right decision to prioritise my health. I'm disappointed not to be there, but I look forward to returning to Montreal in the future."

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts relayed when Edwin Diaz will return now that his rehabilitation ***** ignment is winding down and made a definetive statement on his status for the current series against Diaz's former team, the New York Mets.
Diaz is working himself back from elbow surgery to remove loose bodies in his right elbow, something that he believes played a big role in his struggles before hitting the injured list.
He made two horrible relief appearances against the Rockies and Rangers, and in between the outings, Diaz took an odd break of more than a week.
However, it was the Rockies' performance that was the last straw before the Dodgers took Diaz in for a deep scan on his right arm and found that he needed surgery.

To the dismay of advisors and fixed income investors, the words "clear" and "overt" seem to have left the Federal Reserve's lexicon. However, there are avenues for investors looking for the combination of elevated income and reduced rate risk.
The WisdomTree Interest Rate Hedged High Yield Bond Fund (HYZD) is one of the ETF's that accomplishes those objectives. The $260.2 million HYZD, tracks the WisdomTree U.S. High Yield Corporate Bond, Zero Duration Index. It could be a valuable tool as new Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh scrutinizes the central bank's data inputs, balance sheet, and commentary on rates.
"In terms of forward guidance, investors have already witnessed the Chairman's plans where the goal is to essentially remove this form of communication to the markets," observed WisdomTree. "Some clear-cut examples were the scaled back, just the facts, Greenspan-esque, June FOMC policy statement as well as Warsh's non-participation in the dot plot. The balance sheet question will take longer to resolve, but the examination of the data the Fed uses to set policy deserves some attention."
HYZD turns 13 years old in December. It carries a 30-day SEC yield of 6% and an effective duration of 0.30 years. For many investors, that high yield and low duration would be enough. No further examination required. However, it is worth digging deeper into HYZD.
