Trump signed the legislation into law on Friday, the White House said.
LONDON -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday thanked President Donald Trump for signing into law a bill championed by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, which allows for the expansion of sanctions on Russia related to Moscow's ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Trump signed the bill on Friday, the White House said in a statement, after the legislation passed both the House and Senate with strong bipartisan backing. The legislation "authorizes and expands statutory sanctions, tariffs and prohibitions on Russia and extends existing sanctions on Iran," the White House said.
The bill's passage came about two months after Graham died suddenly following a tear in his aorta. Graham had long been an advocate of U.S. support for Kyiv and more stringent measures on Russia and the regime headed by President Vladimir Putin. In 2024, Russia's state financial monitoring agency added Graham to its list of alleged "terrorists and extremists."
In a post to Telegram on Friday night, Zelenskyy thanked Trump for signing what he called "critically important legislation," extending his thanks to "all the senators and members of the House of Representatives who supported it."

Property and casualty insurer Progressive (NYSE: PGR) is probably best known for selling auto insurance. That's a highly competitive segment of the industry, but the company has proven its chops, reporting a strong combined ratio of 87.3% in the second quarter of 2026. Is the roughly 10% pullback from the 52-week high, and about 25% drawdown from 2025's peak, as of this writing, enough to make the stock a buy? Probably not if you are a value investor.
The combined ratio is a measure of profitability in the insurance sector, with numbers below 100% indicating that a company is earning more from premiums than it costs to support those premiums and cover claims. Progressive has a strong history of running its business well on this front. Basically, it is a good business. But paying too much for a good business can turn it into a bad investment, as Benjamin Graham was fond of saying (Graham notably helped train Warren Buffett).

So the real question here is whether the drawdowns noted above were sufficient to make Progressive's valuation attractive. The answer there isn't clean cut. For example, the price-to-sales ratio of 1.4x is in the middle of the historical range of roughly 0.5x to 2.2x. If anything, the P/S ratio is kind of toward the high side. The same general story holds with the price-to-book ratio. So these two metrics hint at a stock that isn't expensive, but it also isn't trading at bargain-basement prices.
The price-to-earnings ratio is a bit more positive, with the 11.1x P/E toward the lower end of its historical range. And the average insurance company has a P/E ratio of around 11.8x, so this makes Progressive look reasonably priced. Only Progressive's P/B ratio is 3.7x compared to the industry average of 1.7x, so the broader industry comparison still isn't a clear-cut win.

The fate of Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour is suddenly uncertain after all of the British singer's remaining opening acts quit in solidarity with the rapper Macklemore, who was dropped from the remaining North American dates over pro-Palestinian comments.
Hours after Sheeran released a statement saying it was the promoter's decision to remove Macklemore from the tour and not his, the rest of his supporting acts — Irish singer Aaron Rowe, Danish pop band Lukas Graham and songwriter Finneas — as well as Sheeran's house band, Beoga, announced that they were pulling out in protest.
"Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed," Finneas, the brother of Billie Eilish, wrote in a note posted to Instagram. "I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people."
The Irish artists cited their country's history of oppression in their decisions to drop out.
"I don't take the decision lightly. Ed has been a friend to me and has changed my life, I could never thank him enough for this," Rowe wrote in his own Instagram post. "But as Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation. I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children."

First-inning runs alone won't get you over the line most of the time. Stopping at a pair of early solo shots—at least until the ninth inning—the Dodgers' offense left a lot to be desired in a 4-3 loss to the Marlins, as Tyler Glasnow went through plenty of issues in his shortest regular start of the season (4+ IP). The hard-throwing right-hander walked four and seldom looked in rhythm.
Beginning with a bang, the Dodgers made a statement against Tyler Phillips in the first, taking a 2-0 lead with back-to-back long ****** from Mookie Betts and Max Muncy—the one from Betts had special value, given it represented the 10,000th home run in Los Angeles Dodgers history. The problem is that this so-called statement was left at that, with the offense failing to record another hit in Phillips' three-plus innings of work, pitching with a short leash.
By the time Phillips was removed from the game in the fourth, the Marlins had already taken the lead courtesy of a three-run second against Glasnow. Josue De Paula came back from down in the count to earn a walk against Phillips in the fourth, enough for the Marlins to make the call to the bullpen and bring in left-hander Cade Gibson to retire Hunter Feduccia.
The Dodgers trailed at this early point because Tyler Glasnow seemed to be swimming against the tide for the better part of this one, meshing small periods of dominance with worrisome rallies. After squeezing his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, Glasnow coughed up three runs in the second. The damage started with a two-run shot from Graham Pauley and later on with three straight singles, the last one an RBI knock from Otto Lopez.
It then looked like Glasnow would figure things out with clean innings in the third and fourth, including striking out the side in the latter, but that calmness was short-lived. Walking the first two batters of the fifth, Glasnow was removed, recording just 12 outs and leaving quite a mess for Jack Dreyer, who did himself no favors by loading the bases with an 0-2 HBP. In what felt like a pivotal inning for the Dodgers to remain in this game, they caught all the breaks—an errant throw from Mookie Betts on a routine grounder was snagged by Alex Freeland, preventing multiple runners from scoring, and in the following at-bat, Kyle Tucker flashed the leather with a smooth sliding grab to keep everyone at their stations. With one out, Dreyer induced a timely double play as Agustin Ramírez absolutely smoked a groundball right at Betts. And just like that, the score was at a still manageable 4-2 deficit.

After their first day off in September on Thursday, the Brewers will continue their stretch of NL Central foes as they'll host the Reds for three games in Milwaukee, the second time they'll see Cincinnati in the last two weeks, as the Reds took two of three in Cincy last weekend. The Brewers are coming off of a sweep of the Cubs to balloon their NL Central lead to 10 games over the rest of the pack, sitting at 91-56 with 15 games left. The Reds, who sit in last place, are 69-77 after being swept by the Dodgers to begin the week.
Since the last time these teams met, the Reds have activated right-hander Graham Ashcraft and third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes from the IL, with left-hander Sam Moll designated for ******* ignment and utility man Edwin Arroyo optioned to Triple-A Louisville in the corresponding moves. The Brewers have only lost Grant Anderson, who was placed on the 15-day IL with biceps tendinitis. He was replaced on the active roster by Brandon Sproat, though Sproat was demoted once again on Thursday, with the corresponding move expected to be a recall of right-hander Garrett Stallings to shore up the bullpen. Jake Bauers is also continuing to deal with a variety of lower-body injuries, and the Brewers have opted to focus on managing the injuries rather than putting him on the IL.
Just to remind you of what these two teams bring to the table offensively and on the mound, here's a quick rundown of both squads.

It's been a tough week for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as he prepares to make his team debut this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tagovailoa was named the starting QB for Week 1, but head coach Kevin Stefanski wouldn't commit to him beyond the season opener.
While it's clear that Tagovailoa needs to play well to keep the job, those around the NFL have strong doubts about his ability to do so. Former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin roasted Tua during his NBC broadcast debut on Wednesday evening.
"It's less about Aaron for me and it's more about the quarterback on the other side," Tomlin said of Tagovailoa. "His last visit to Pittsburgh didn't go well. I was in the stadium that day. They lost. He got benched. So I think it's going to be a good day for Mike McCarthy, Patrick Graham, and the Pittsburgh Steelers and company."
Tagovailoa went 22-for-28 for 253 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a 28-15 loss in his last game against Pittsburgh. The Dolphins benched him the following week and his time in Miami came to an end shortly after.
Unfortunately, it gets worse for Tagovailoa. NBC insider Mike Florio reported that Tagovailoa is in danger of potentially being released once he is benched in Atlanta.

Brandon Graham is retiring from the NFL again, officially ending one of the most accomplished and beloved careers in Philadelphia Eagles history.
Graham announced his retirement Tuesday after 16 seasons, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic. The 38-year-old spent his entire career with Philadelphia, becoming a two-time Super Bowl champion and the longest-tenured player in franchise history . Graham retired following the Eagles' Super Bowl win over the Patriots after 15 seasons in the NFL, but Philadelphia convinced him to return from retirement last October. He recorded three sacks and eight tackles in nine games and played a handful of snaps on the interior to help replace an injured Jalen Carter.
His two-sack performance against the Las Vegas Raiders made him the oldest player in Eagles history to record a sack.
Philadelphia released Graham in June in what was described as a procedural move, leaving open the possibility of another return. Graham expressed interest in playing a 17th season and participating in a full training camp, but the Eagles entered September with a younger and deeper group of edge defenders.
The No. 13 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Graham appeared in 215 regular-season games and recorded 79.5 sacks and 128 tackles for loss. His career required patience after early injuries and criticism, but he eventually developed into one of the franchise's most dependable defenders and respected leaders.

Brandon Graham's first retirement was a brief one, but he says the second one will be a lasting exit from the football field.
Graham said at an event on Tuesday, via Rob Kuestner of NBC Philadelphia, that he is "officially done" playing football. Graham retired after the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans in February 2025, but the defensive end returned to the team in October and played in 10 games for the team.
Graham spent his entire NFL career with the Eagles. The 2010 first-round pick has the franchise record with 215 regular season appearances and he played in 13 playoff games, including both of the franchise's Super Bowl wins.
Graham had 495 tackles, 79.5 sacks, 23 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries in those 215 regular season games. He added 21 tackles, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in the playoffs. One of those forced fumbles came against Tom Brady late in the fourth quarter of Philadelphia's Super Bowl LII win.

Jacksonville Beach native Miles Russell seemingly has his singles match and possibly a U.S. draw in the Walker Cup in hand with two holes to play against Connor Graham of Scotland on Sept. 6, at the Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland.
Graham, a junior at Texas Tech and a first-team All-Big 12 player last year, had other ideas.
Graham birdied the last two holes while the 17-year-old Russell, playing in his first Walker Cup, went bogey-par. The ensuing halve opened the door for Josh Hill to beat Russell's doubles partner Tyler Watts 1-up with an up-and-down from a greenside bunker and clinch the Cup for Great Britain/Ireland,13.5-12.5 victory.
The victory ended a five-match winning streak for the Americans. GB/I won seven of the 10 singles matches to rally from a three-point deficit after the Americans swept the morning foursomes.
Had Russell pulled out the victory, the U.S. would have at least retained the Walker Cup with a 13-13 tie. If Watts had won his match, the U.S. would have won outright.

Florida's 66-21 victory over Florida Atlantic was an offensive showcase for the Gators, but the same couldn't necessarily be said for the defense.
Despite the lopsided final score, Florida's defense had its share of struggles throughout the night. FAU quarterback Caden Veltkamp threw for 276 yards, while the Owls added another 120 yards on the ground.
The Gators also had trouble containing Kelby Vasin, who finished with 10 receptions for 92 yards and was a consistent, reliable target for Veltkamp.
There is plenty for Florida to clean up defensively before it faces more talented competition, but one player who consistently made his presence felt was linebacker Myles Graham. Throughout all of the defensive deficiencies, he still showed up and caused havoc against FAU, earning him defensive player of the game.
The junior finished with 10 total tackles, including four solo stops and six **** isted tackles. He also recorded half a sack and half a tackle for loss, constantly finding himself around the football.

Another "award-winning sports agronomist" with extensive experience installing pro and college surfaces, but who requested anonymity for apparent fear of Big Sod, said that it was "the worst sod I've seen in the NFL in my career. I can't even imagine how that could have happened."
Added Tony ***** , sports management professor at Baldwin Wallace University and former Cleveland Browns ***** istant head groundskeeper: "[N]atural turf is safer in a perfect setting. But if you have the situation like you have in Buffalo — and I went back and watched the film — you cannot tell me that field was safer than the artificial turf they just left. . . . Meyer Shank Racing has confirmed that Mick Schumacher will join the team for the 2027 IndyCar season. After Indianapolis 500 champion Felix Rosenqvist left MSR for Arrow McLaren, MSR has decided that Schumacher will be his replacement.
Schumacher is out the door at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing after RLL agreed to sell one of its three charters to Dreyer & Reinbold Racing ahead of the 2027 season. With Graham Rahal and Louis Foster already under contract at RLL, Schumacher was the odd man out after just one season with the team. Now he'll become Marcus Armstrong's teammate at MSR.
"I'm super excited to be working with everyone at Meyer Shank Racing and really excited to be joining such an ambitious team," Schumacher said in a news release. "It's going to be a special journey to start working with MSR. I am looking forward to what more I can learn from the team. They've had some really great success, and of course, going to an Indy 500-winning team is awesome.
"It will be great to start meeting everyone on the team and working with MSR's partners. I'm really just excited to begin working toward 2027 together and really start thinking about how we can create a great partnership together."
Schumacher will pilot MSR's No. 66 Honda, which Armstrong has driven for the past two years. When Armstrong signed a multiyear extension with the team in July, MSR announced that he'd switch to Rosenqvist's car, the No. 60 Honda.

Aon plc (NYSE:AON) has agreed to acquire USI Insurance Services from KKR and other shareholders for $17 billion in cash, making it one of the largest insurance-brokerage acquisitions in recent years. USI generates roughly $3 billion in annual revenue, has more than 10,500 employees, and operates nearly 200 offices across the U.S.
The strategic focus is clear: Aon wants to significantly strengthen its position in the U.S. middle-market insurance segment, which Aon estimates at more than $40 billion and more than one-third of U.S. commercial P&C premiums. The acquisition also expands Aon's exposure to the excess & surplus (E&S) market, one of the faster-growing parts of commercial insurance. The deal builds on Aon's $13 billion acquisition of NFP in 2024, giving the company another major middle-market platform. Aon expects the USI transaction to generate approximately $395 million of annual run-rate net adjusted EBITDA synergies and become accretive to adjusted EPS in 2028.
The market's initial reaction was negative. Aon shares fell roughly 6% in early trading, reflecting investor concerns about the size of the transaction, leverage, and the time required for the deal to become earnings accretive.

The biggest positive is that Aon plc (NYSE:AON) is buying into a large and attractive part of the insurance market. USI gives Aon considerably more scale among middle-market customers, while adding capabilities in employee benefits, P&C, personal risk and retirement services. This could allow Aon to sell more products to existing customers and use USI's relationships to cross-sell Aon's broader services.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Graham Pauley homered and tripled to drive in four runs, Kyle Stowers also went deep, and the Miami Marlins rolled past the Kansas City Royals 6-3 on Tuesday night.
Tyler Phillips (4-6) threw five innings of one-hit ball for the Marlins, striking out four and walking two. Three relievers combined to give up five hits with two strikeouts, with Tyler Zuber finishing off the ninth.
Pauley, recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of the game — his fifth call-up of the year — hit his second major league homer of the season in the second, a two-run shot to right.
Stowers added a 412-footer to right in the fifth to make it a three-run game.
Pauley's first triple of the season drove in two more and sent Royals starter Randy Dobnak (2-3) to the dugout in the seventh. Javier Sanoja got Pauley across with a single to make it 6-0.

Baseball has a way of humbling you, regressing your performance to the mean wherever the mean may be and however you may be skirting it. The Baseball Gods are equally jealous and impish. In other words, the other shoe always drops. Though Randy Dobnak's peripherals and underlying stats have flashed danger throughout his Kansas City tenure, his luck ran out and his magic evaporated—on Harry Potter night at the ballpark, no less—during a 6-3 loss to the Miami Marlins.
Entering tonight, Dobnak had a 1.92 ERA but a 4.55 expected ERA. He wasn't striking guys out, and he wasn't allowing any home runs. Unfortunately, Dobnak gave up a pair of looong home runs. The first one was to third baseman Graham Pauley in the second inning, a two-run shot:

Dobnak wobbled through the next few innings before giving up another big ol blast to designated hitter Kyle Stowers, his 17th of the year.

Over the last few recruiting cycles, Notre Dame has become a place that attracts former NFL and college players son's, both legacy's and non.
Larry Fitzgerald, an NFL Hall of Famer, who went to Pittsburgh has his son enrolled, as do multiple former Irish players like the Flanigan family. There could be another football legacy to play in South Bend, and one that might be like the Fitzgerald's as former Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram is a big fan of Notre Dame.
He recently said on "The Triple Option" podcast that 9 legacy's on the current roster and 15 during his time, and his son, Mark Ingram III could potentially be playing for Freeman. Ingram said that with him at the helm, the Irish are "right there at the top" of his list of coaches that he wants to play for.
Ingram won the Heisman Trophy in 2009 with Alabama, went on the be a first-round NFL draft selection and played in the NFL for twelve years before retiring following the 2022 season. It is still a few more years until Ingraham's son is ready to be recruited, and if Freeman is still in South Bend, there's a good chance that he ends up playing for Notre Dame.

T.J. Watt is coming off one of the worst performances of his NFL career, which subsequently resulted in the Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher tumbling down ESPN's top 100 players prediction for the 2026 season.
In ESPN's new top 100 players list, Watt saw his ranking tumble 54 spots from last year to No. 65 for the 2026 season. Honestly, this could still be viewed as a compliment considering how his 2025 season played out.
"Watt's production has dipped since he led the league with 19 sacks in 2023, but part of the reason he dropped off in 2025 is a freak situation where he suffered a partially collapsed a lung during dry needling treatment," ESPN's Brooke Pryor wrote. "He is fully healthy entering his 10th season and has vowed to be open to moving around in Graham's system -- something he admitted he was too stubborn to do under the previous regime."
It's true that Watt is going to be moving around the defensive line a lot more in 2026, but he's no doubt at his best when coming off the left side. That was until offenses found a way to neutralize his presence, leaving the Steelers, and Watt, with no choice but to shake things up in 2026.
