As the Seattle Seahawks prepare for their preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, we at Seahawks Wire wanted to resume a tradition of ours. It's high time we took another trip... Behind Enemy Lines.
Every week, I reach out to my colleagues in the NFL Wires Network to get a better idea of the opponent Seattle will be facing. Up first will be John Dillon, who is the lead writer over at our sister site Chiefs Wire. We'll be reaching out to Dillon later in the year because the Seahawks will host the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. But for the time being, we're still in the preseason. I asked Dillon four questions about Kansas City at this stage, and his answers are below.
"Walker missed practice on August 25 due to injury, and I fear that his time in Kansas City may end up being defined by his availability rather than his ability to produce — it is my understanding that this was the case in Seattle before the Super Bowl run. Either way, Walker figures to be a key contributor to the Chiefs' offense this season and is still on track to be Kansas City's starting running back in Week 1. If he stays healthy, I expect the Chiefs to commit to giving him ample touches in the running game, which could make him a top performer in fantasy football."
"Andy Reid has always seemed to struggle with his running backs, but I think he has a chance to finally break that trend with Walker. Given that Patrick Mahomes is returning from a serious knee injury on a seemingly rushed timeline, it seems likely that Reid will commit to a more straightforward North-South running game with Walker in the backfield. Plays that don't require any complex footwork or extra movement from the quarterback. It also seems probable that Reid will turn away from some of the run-pass option action that has characterized Chiefs football for so long now. Ultimately, the acquisition of Walker is a hedge against Mahomes' injury and Kansas City's ability (or inability, as it were) to establish a viable air attack in the two-time MVP's absence."
"Rookie wide receiver Cyrus Allen has generated a ton of hype in training camp and has looked like a capable prospect during the Chiefs' two preseason losses. In terms of a lesser-known standout, though, I think third-year defensive back Jaden Hicks is the player to watch. PHOENIX (AP) — Two Phoenix police officers were fired and arrested after an unreported traffic stop in which they ******* aulted a man and woman and shocked them with a Taser, the police chief said.
Officers Antonio Felix and Luis Vasquez were arrested on charges including aggravated ******* ault and kidnapping, police chief Matt Giordano said at a news conference Saturday.
"Detectives have confirmed that the two former officers physically ******* aulted both the man and woman during the traffic stop," Giordano said. "The investigation also shows that a Taser was used on the victims during the stop."
The officers did not report the Aug. 5 traffic stop and did not activate their body-worn cameras, police said.
"There is no video evidence, but we established what we believe is probable cause that these crimes were committed," Giordano said, adding there was no indication that the officers knew the victims.

Today was the much-anticipated debut of Mariners pitching prospect Kade Anderson, but it was a more familiar face who stole the show. Randy Arozarena bookeneded the game with a pair of homers, peppering in a dramatic home run robbery and a clutch infield single, to deliver the Mariners an improbable 5-4 win, meanwhile racking up one of the highest WPAs I've ever seen for a position player in a single game: 1.08. It's not Brandon Crawford's seven-hit game from 2016, but it's gotta be up there. Arozarena, in his free agency year, is having his best season by wRC+ as a big-league regular: 138 before today's game is factored in. He's been the most valuable Mariner in 2026 offensively, and has contributed to more than his fair share of wins while the rest of the team has struggled through injury and doldrums. He's also been the author of more than his fair share of miscues, some outfield defense that at times looks indifferent, and an occasional inattention (like missing the team photo) that makes you wonder what planet Randy is living on.
The answer: Planet Randy. It's Randy's planet. And like Taylor Swift, he makes the rules. We now know why third-year linebacker Ty'Anthony Smith was dismissed from Texas Longhorns football on Friday evening. After Saturday's team scrimmage, UT coach Steve Sarkisian says it was for "conduct detrimental to the team."
Smith played in 28 games over the past two seasons, making one start in 2025. He finished last season with 60 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
His two interceptions in the Longhorns 41-27 Cheez-It Citrus Bowl win over Michigan in January seemingly set Jasper, TX product as a probable starter in 2026. But new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp typically values size more than speed in his 4-3 system and it was becoming evident Smith would not be a starter to begin the season.
After Saturday's scrimmage, Steve Sarkisian addressed the situation.

The Indiana Fever could be shorthanded against the New York Liberty on Saturday as Aliyah Boston has joined Caitlin Clark on the injury report. Clark has been on the injury report since the first week of the 2026 WNBA season because of a lingering back issue. She has been listed as probable before nearly every game.
Boston has made occasional appearances while managing a right lower leg injury. She returned to the injury list on Friday, listed as questionable. With the Fever playing for the second time in less than 48 hours on Saturday and then visiting Chicago for a back-to-back on Sunday, it seems the All-Star center may not suit up for the Fever in New York.

The Indiana Fever guard was listed as probable before being cleared to face the Dallas Wings. The Minnesota Lynx listed rookie phenom Olivia Miles as "probable" for Friday's matchup against the Washington Mystics after she was injured during the team's Wednesday game.
WNBA teams are required to submit a pregame status report at least 24 hours prior to tipoff. "Probable" typically indicates a 75% chance that a player will appear in the game, as opposed to "questionable" or "doubtful."
Lynx star Napheesa Collier, however, is listed as out for "rest" against the Mystics, which comes as the final stop on a four-game road trip. It will be Collier's first missed game since she made her season debut on July 22 after undergoing two ankle surgeries this offseason.

Talk about arriving in Test cricket with a bang. Just minutes after Manav Suthar bowled debutant Keshara Nuwantha to seal India's emphatic 165-run win over Sri Lanka in the first Test at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, heavy rain lashed the venue.
By then, however, the damage had been done, with the young left-arm spinner delivering a performance for the ages.
Suthar ripped through Sri Lanka's lower order in a sensational spell. In the 76th over, he bowled a three-wicket maiden, dismissing the resolute Sonal Dinusha (84; 128b, 8x4, 1x6), who was caught at leg slip by Dhruv Jurel, before removing Prabhat Jayasuriya for a duck off the very next ball. Colombia's state-controlled oil company Ecopetrol (NYSE: EC) has completed its roughly $1.2 billion acquisition of a controlling 51% stake in Brazil's Brava Energia, significantly expanding its position in one of Latin America's most important oil-producing markets.
The deal combines approximately 25% of Brava's shares acquired through a voluntary tender offer with another 26% purchased under an agreement reached with existing shareholders in April. Ecopetrol had offered R$23 per share in the tender and said earlier this month that the auction had been successfully completed.
The acquisition gives Ecopetrol control of a sizeable portfolio of Brazilian offshore and onshore **** ets. Brava produced an average of around 78,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) during the first half of 2026, rising to approximately 84,400 boed in June.

Miami running back Jordan Lyle was estimated to be driving 130 mph while attempting to flee a traffic stop in South Florida last month, according to a probable cause affidavit released on Tuesday, via the Miami Herald.
Lyle was arrested last week on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding law enforcement, each of which are felony complaints in Florida. He is also facing a misdemeanor complaint of reckless driving.
He turned himself into the Sunrise Police Department on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued. He was then released on bond that same day.
According to the report, Lyle was spotted driving north on the Sawgrass Expressway shortly after 7 p.m. on July 10 and was clocked by an officer driving 92 mph. The speed limit in the area is just 65 mph. When the officer tried to pull Lyle over, Lyle allegedly sped up and got to as fast as 130 mph while making "rapid, abrupt and unsafe lane changes to maneuver between vehicles." At one point, Lyle allegedly made a U-turn from a through lane after exiting the expressway.
Eventually, the officer turned off his lights and sirens and let him go to avoid further danger. An investigation later determined that the car was registered to Lyle, and it was linked to him via his parents' home surveillance system. Indiana Fever fans held their collective breaths on Friday night during the team's 98-87 win over the Dallas Wings: With under a minute to go in the second quarter, she appeared to be limping after stepping on the foot of Wings forward Alysha Clark. She headed back to the locker room despite the fact that the quarter wasn't over.
But Clark returned for the third quarter and finished out the game with an incredible stat line (see below). She had come into the game probable with a back injury as well.

ARDMORE, Pa. – Having just finished 36 holes of stroke play at this 126th U.S. Amateur in 2 over par, Luke Poulter walked out of the scoring tent behind Merion's 18th hole on Tuesday afternoon and exclaimed, "I'm going to need a miracle."
His caddie has seen miracles around this place before.
Florida head coach J.C. Deacon, who is on the bag for his star rising senior, reached the semifinals of the 2005 U.S. Amateur at Merion before his opponent, Dillon Dougherty, won each of the last two holes with improbable shots that still get Deacon emotional thinking about them.

An improbable story is playing out on the offensive line at Chiefs training camp.
Kahlil Benson started 12 games at right tackle for Indiana during their run to the national ******* le last year, but went undrafted in April. He earned a roster spot with the Chiefs after a tryout at their rookie minicamp and has impressed enough to take all the first-team reps at right tackle over the last two days of practice.
Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star notes that Benson has taken the majority of those reps since camp opened and he's now got an inside track to join left tackle Josh Simmons as a starter up front.
"I think Kahlil is doing a great job. I think he's a very physical player. I think he should just add on to that," Simmons said, via Brett Kennedy of KQTV. "I think you can't really teach effort. I mean that's what he's giving out there, so that's really all I'm telling him right now is keep doing that effort."
Jaylon Moore was expected to be the top choice at right tackle in Kansas City this season, but Benson now has momentum and continued success in the preseason could make him one of the league's unlikeliest starters in Week 1.

As Indiana eyes a season sweep of the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces, the Fever released its day-before injury report.
Like usual, Caitlin Clark is listed on the Fever's day-before injury report as probable (back). Clark hasn't missed a game since being sidelined for the Fever's July 9 contest at the Phoenix Mercury. That was the second game of a back-to-back.
The three-time WNBA All-Star has seen her minutes start to ramp up of late, too. Clark has logged at least 33 minutes in each of the Fever's last three games.
The 6-foot guard has missed four games due to injury or rest this season, beginning with her May 20 absence against the Portland Fire.
Fever center Aliyah Boston joins Clark on the day-before injury report as probable (right lower leg). Indiana announced that center Damiris Dantas had undergone successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus in her left knee.

Well, let's start with the good feelings. There was a sentimental feeling percolating around the Yard well before tonight's game, with a team Hall of Fame induction ceremony that saw former O's slugger Chris Davis, 1983 World Series Champion Storm Davis, and late scout Jim Russo all get their green jackets. Both Storm and Chris were in attendance, along with lots of their former teammates, including, to give short pre-game remarks and stop by the MASN booth to chat about their favorite memories.
It was cool to learn that Storm Davis actually served as a mentor to a young Ben McDonald, then a rookie pitcher, now a MASN ****** yst, but I was especially sentimental about Davis's reminiscences, which covered the especially sweet 2012-16 years, when the O's led the AL in wins. Dishing about some of his favorite memories, Davis named several that brought up memories. There was his 2013 home opener grand slam:

And, my favorite, the ludicrously improbable homer he hit off ambidextrous sinker-baller Pat Venditte, a tentative one-handed half-swing that somehow made it into the stands. Davis described it earlier this week: "The home run vs Pat Venditte where I literally ****** out, one handed, I heard he tore up the video room on the visitor side after that… I'm like, I don't know either dude. Like I don't know what I'm doing." Amazing!
