Elijah Bieniemy, son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was arrested and faces three felony charges in relation to the alleged shooting of his mother.
Mia Bieniemy, Eric's wife, was shot in their family home on Sunday, July 26. Loudoun County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting in Ashburn, Virginia, where an adult female was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for serious injuries. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said on Monday, July 27, Mia Bieniemy was in stable condition following the incident.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III was ranked No. 9 overall in Sports Illustrated's rankings of the top 10 running backs for the 2026 season.
"Walker earned PFF's highest rushing grade in 2025 at 91.4, and also hauled in 31 receptions for 202 receiving yards—a positive for coach Andy Reid, who's known for using his running backs in the passing game," Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick said of Kansas City's new bell cow.
Walker rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2025 and was an impactful player for the Seattle Seahawks in the lead-up to their victory in Super Bowl LX earlier this year. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid started the day with incredible news during his press conference, revealing Patrick Mahomes was cleared to be a full participant in practice. After Mahomes tore his ACL and MCL against the Los Angeles Chargers in December, the normal timeline for recovery would force the three-time Super Bowl MVP to miss the start of the 2026 NFL season.
However, starting Week 1 against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football seems to be in play. "I feel stronger than I've ever felt, as far as strength and lifting [weights]," Mahomes told reporters. "I feel amazing."
"I'm excited just to be able to play football," he continued. "I've been seeing cinderblock walls rehabbing every single day in Kansas City. Now, to be on that practice field with my teammates, it's going to be a lot of fun."

One NFC scout compared University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning -- the nephew of Peyton Manning -- to current Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones.
ESPN NFL draft ******* yst Jordan Reid recently spoke with numerous talent evaluators, discussing the 2027 draft class, which has a lot of hype.
So, naturally, when discussing the quarterbacks, Manning's name came up. However, in the scout's comparison to Jones, that wasn't the most glowing comparison.
"Everyone's falling in love with the future vision of the player, and he simply hasn't shown anything close to that right now," an NFC scout told Reid. "I see Daniel Jones when I watch him -- a good, not great, prospect."
As Reid wrote, last season was a "tale of two seasons" for Manning, who, after a slow start, began to turn this around, with his "field vision and mechanics" improving.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been cleared to return to full practice as he recovers from tearing knee ligaments late last season.
The three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback is "extremely optimistic" about lining up for the first game of regular season in September, said his coach Andy Reid.
"Right now he's been cleared to go ahead and participate fully" in practice, Reid told reporters Friday at the team's Missouri pre-season training camp.
The 30-year-old star, a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, led the Chiefs to five Super Bowls in six seasons and three crowns.
A disappointing season for the Chiefs last year was capped in December when Mahomes tore left knee ligaments, requiring surgery for the first major injury in his nine-year NFL career.

On Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs unofficially opened training camp as quarterbacks, rookies and select veterans arrived at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
Head coach Andy Reid began his opening remarks with a rundown of the team's initial injury situation.
At the start of camp, injured players can be played on the Active/Physically-Unable-to-Perform list (PUP). This gives players time to work back to health before being activated to practice. Players remaining on the list at the end of camp can be kept on the Reserve/PUP list to start the season — but they are then ruled out for the first four games of the season.
Starting in Week 5, teams have five weeks to open a 21-day practice window to the return to the active roster before the players are moved to season-ending injured reserve.
Once a player practices in training camp, he is no longer eligible for the PUP list.

I try to keep my fandom just behind that of Andy Reid, that of Patrick Mahomes, and that of Chris Jones because I'm not out there sweating, I'm not out there bleeding, I'm not," said Stonestreet. "I haven't been in the weight room since I was 18." I didn't play college ball and go through the trials and tribulations of getting drafted and all that. A former cornerback at Sacramento State and Idaho, McDonald played under Eck for one season with the Vandals in 2006. The latter served as Idaho's tight ends coach and run game coordinator at the time.

The 27-year-old who was the first Arab-American woman to compete in the top level of stockcar racing has more than 5.8 million combined followers across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and YouTube.
After being the only woman to race full-time in NASCAR last season, fans haven't heard much from her on the track this year. Due to her part-time schedule with Rackley W.A.R., Breidinger hasn't gotten behind the wheel of the No. 27 Chevrolet in the Craftsman Truck Series since the May 15 race at Dover — the race that wound up being Kyle Busch's last win before his shocking death.
But Breidinger has quietly been working on her racecraft. She's getting back to her roots this year and returned to racing late-models, winning a competition at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway on July 11. Days later, she was in New York City, stunting on the red carpet at the ESPYs — a display of how she's able to successfully balance her on-track aspirations with her modeling career.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Reid Detmers had another stellar start out of the All-Star Break on Wednesday against the St. Louis Cardinals, but he was facing a different kind of foe while battling it out with the Cardinals: the summer sun.
It was a hot one at game time and Detmers was at the mercy of the Wednesday afternoon sun the entire time on the mound. While he more or less cruised through the Cardinals lineup for most of his start, fatigue started to set in as his velocity steadily dropped the entire game, going from 94.1 MPH on his first fastball of the game to just 91.9 on his last.
"It was just hot. The first couple innings felt really good and then the longer I stayed out there, obviously the more tired I got," Detmers said. "But, I didn't really feel like my stuff felt bad. Just the velo's down a little bit. Stuff felt really good actually."
That last fastball was also the one that caused him the most trouble considering that JJ Wentworth took it for a ride for his 15th home run of the season, a solo shot that broke a scoreless tie and put the Cardinals ahead 1-0 in the top of the sixth.
After that, manager Kurt Suzuki from the game to finish what was otherwise an outstanding start with Detmers going 5.1 innings pitched with just one earned run, two hits and two walks allowed while striking out six.

The free agent imbalance can be tied to the trade market, since wise managers are consistently balancing all methods to improve their roster. It may be a good time to trade hitters for pitchers, as managers can quickly fill the vacated hitting spot with one of the players mentioned in this most recent waiver wire article. With this plan in mind, here are some pitchers to target on the trade market.
Bryan Woo, SP, Mariners: Although it's normal for Seattle pitchers to fare best when working at their pitcher-friendly home park, the splits for Woo this season are eye-popping. The right-hander has pitched like a Cy Young winner at T-Mobile Park (2.20 ERA) and a minor leaguer on the road (6.28 ERA). Some of the gap stems from a superior strikeout rate at home, but much of the problem lies in BABIP gap of over 100 points. Woo entered the season with a reasonable ERA gap of 1.09 between his home and road marks, and the expectation here is that he will find better success in his road starts during the second half. If that happens, he will be a top-10 pitcher who can currently be acquired for a reasonable return.
Reid Detmers, SP/RP, Angels: After enjoying a dazzling five-start stretch (1.36 ERA, 0.55 WHIP, 39:5 K:BB ratio) from late May to the middle of June, Detmers allowed exactly five earned runs in three of his final four first-half outings. Such is life for the inconsistent southpaw, who opened the second half by striking out seven Tigers over six shutout innings. Managers who already have a strong pitching staff may wish to avoid such an inconsistent hurler, but those who need to swing for the fences this summer should make a buy-low acquisition on Detmers, who has terrific swing-and-miss skills (10.2 K/9 rate) and a notable gap between his 4.16 ERA and 3.27 xERA.

The Philadelphia Phillies have the 11th-best starting pitcher ERA in baseball this year, but that is being carried by the top of their rotation.
The team has a 7.33 ERA from its fifth rotation spot and is 5-20 in games not started by Cristopher Sánchez, Zack Wheeler, Jesús Luzardo or Aaron Nola. If they want to win the National League, they need another arm, and according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Jim Salisbury, they know that.
"The Phillies are actively looking to trade for a back-end starting pitcher," wrote Salisbury on Monday. "If they can't pull off a deal before Saturday, they could bring up 32-year-old right-hander Brian Keller from Triple A. Keller has pitched in the Red Sox and Yankees organizations. He spent time in ****** an, had Tommy John surgery, and signed a minor-league deal with the Phillies in May. He has allowed just two runs in his last four starts while going six innings in three of them."
Luckily for the Phillies, there is no shortage of starting pitching available this summer. Freddy Peralta, Reid Detmers and Jose Soriano could all be on the move. However, if the Phillies are looking for a back-end starter, they may not be looking to overpay. They could target a team like the Seattle Mariners or Milwaukee Brewers, who may be willing to deal from their depth.

PHOENIX (AP) — Video footage of two Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents tackling a man at the airport in Las Vegas drew public outrage and criticism from elected officials.
One video posted on social media showed a man yelling and crying on the ground in Terminal 3 at Harry Reid International Airport on Monday when a man and a masked woman, both in plainclothes, tried to control, handcuff and detain him. When the pair realized they were being filmed, they walked away, leaving the man with a handcuff attached to one arm.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police found no outstanding warrants for the man, removed his handcuffs and notified ICE.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, ICE officers on Monday did not proceed with the arrest at the Las Vegas airport of Phu Nguyen, a 57-year-old citizen of Australia who overstayed his visa. ICE arrested him at his flight departing the Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security said.
"ICE is continuing to act with impunity — instilling fear in our communities and scaring tourists, which hurts our tourism economy," Democratic U.S. Senator for Nevada Jacky Rosen said in a statement. "Enough is enough. ICE must follow the same commonsense guardrails as other law enforcement agencies."

It's strange knowing what we know now, but on this day in 1999, German international Thomas Helmer completed his move to Sunderland. The 34-year-old central defender had only weeks prior been in the Bayern Munich squad that were beaten by Manchester United in the Champions League final.
He'd also played in two World Cups for his country, and Peter Reid stated he'd bring "invaluable experience" to his squad.

According to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, exceptional coaching and the return of Patrick Mahomes could help the Kansas City Chiefs win their division in 2026.
"Reid and Spags are among the best at what they do," Patra said of the Chiefs' legendary coaching duo in a recent article. "Any holes on the roster can be covered by coaching. Last year, seven of the Chiefs' eight losses with Mahomes under center were by one score. With the QB projected to return healthy and an easier schedule, Kansas City has the makings of a return to power."
The acquisition of Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III and the tentative return of Rashee Rice for an entire 17-game season should help buoy Reid's offense when Mahomes returns. Rookie additions — including first-round picks Mansoor Delane and Peter Woods — are expected to play a key role in Spagnuolo's new-look Chiefs defense as Kansas City seeks another Super Bowl berth.

The Cubs finished up the first day of the MLB Draft by selecting Northwestern State (LA) right-handed pitcher Dylan Marionneaux win the fourth round. The junior right-hander went 4-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 14 starts with the Demons of the Southland Conference. He struck out 81 and walked 18 in 84.2 innings. Marionneaux was named to the first-team Southland Conference All-Conference team this year. He had committed to transferring to Alabama for his senior season before the Cubs drafted him. That’s about all I know about him.
So this one is a head-scratcher, although the Cubs almost certainly drafted Marionneaux because he’s willing to sign for a below-slot bonus that would allow the Cubs to give an big above-slot bonus to one of many high school players still on board for Sunday. Marionneaux is not listed on any of the published lists of draft prospects, and Baseball America covers the top 500 prospects.
Even if Marionneaux is a “signability” pick for another, better player later on, there must have been something that they liked about him anyways. Certainly his control numbers look good. And sometimes these signability players end up surprising everyone. Riley Martin was a fifth-year senior the Cubs drafted out Quincy University in 2021 who signed for $1000. But before he got hurt, Martin was looking like he was going to be an important part of the Cubs bullpen this year.
Last year’s third-round pick, Dominick Reid, and their fifth-round pick, Kade Snell, weren’t quite so out of the blue as Marionneaux is, but they were below slot picks that allowed them to draft high schoolers Kaleb Wing and Josiah Hartshorn, who are now two of the Cubs top propsects.
If you’re looking at high school players still on the board in the fifth round, there’s right-hander Joseph Contreras, son of former All-Star pitcher José Contreras, two-way player Archer Horn, right-hander Savion Sims, outfielder Blake Bowen and others.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are moving on from a declining former Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks forward after two seasons with the franchise.
On Friday, Minnesota completed a monster four-team LaMelo Ball-centered deal to send the 31-year-old veteran to the Brooklyn Nets.
“The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has acquired guards LaMelo Ball and Josh Green from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for forward Naz Reid, a 2033 first-round pick, three second-round picks, and three future first-round pick swaps,” the franchise’s press release stated.
“As part of the four-team deal, which includes the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls, the Timberwolves will receive the draft rights to guard Isaiah Evans from the Nets in exchange for forward Julius Randle and the draft rights to forward Joshua Jefferson.”

LONDON/HONG KONG, July 10 (Reuters) - Fast-fashion retailer Shein won approval for its long-awaited Hong Kong IPO on Friday, a notice posted on the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) website showed, clearing the way for a listing after failed attempts in New York and London.
Shein, a fast-growing e-commerce giant, would be the highest-profile retailer to list in ‌years, as many consumer brands have delayed initial public offerings due to weak investor sentiment and subdued spending by lower- to middle-income shoppers.
Founded by Chinese-born entrepreneur Sky Xu in 2012, Shein has ‌waited a year for the green light from Beijing for its IPO, which had to be cleared by the highest levels of the ruling Communist Party, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter.
Beijing views Shein as politically sensitive and has been cautious about endorsing a listing after controversies including a ******* doll scandal in France and reports of poor labour practices at its supplier factories in China, the source said.
