Neither Galatasaray nor Fenerbahce have yet been able to close a deal for Rafael Leao, and now, there is a growing feeling from outlets in Italy that the Portugal international could end up staying on with the Rossoneri heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
Milan have been looking to sell Leao this summer: The 26-year-old has spent the last seven seasons in San Siro and has himself made it clear on several occasions this summer that he feels now is the right time to move on and try something new.
However, as things stand, Milan have not yet been able to find a buyer that will satisfy both the club's and the player's demands.
Leao has previously spoken about his ambition to play in either the Premier League or LaLiga, but thus far, the only real interest has come from Turkey, where both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have had discussions over a potential deal.

The 2026 summer tour of Canada is over for Marquette men's basketball, and I can happily report that the Golden Eagles went 3-0 on their three game set in Vancouver. They wrapped up the series with a 102-65 victory over Fraser Valley on Saturday afternoon.

Joe Root has hailed incoming England Test coach Stephen Fleming as a major reason behind his enthusiasm for leading the side again, saying the former New Zealand captain's vision has left him excited about the team's future.
England confirmed Fleming as their new Test coach earlier this week after parting ways with Brendon McCullum last month. The 53-year-old will officially begin his tenure later this year.
Root returned as England captain during the second Test against New Zealand in June after Ben Stokes was removed from the role following a nightclub brawl incident after the series opener. Although Stokes was later cleared and returned to play his final Test, Root retained the captaincy, marking his second stint as England's Test skipper.
Speaking about his first interactions with Fleming, Root said the conversations immediately convinced him that the pair shared a similar outlook.
"I've admired him from afar, first as a player and recently as a coach. To get the chance to work together is going to be great fun. Once I'd spoken to Stephen about it and saw his energy and excitement for it, and saw we're very aligned on it, I got excited very quickly. Hopefully, we can work and build on a lot of the good things that have happened over the last four years," Root told BBC Sport.
Root also paid tribute to McCullum and Stokes, crediting the former leadership duo for transforming England's Test setup and changing his own perspective on the game.
"I think Brendon and Ben did a brilliant job, in many ways, of turning things around and getting us in a position where hopefully now we can carry that forward in a slightly different way. Hopefully, we can work and build on a lot of the good things that have happened over the last four years.
"The last four years have been the most fun I've had in professional cricket, and a big part of that was down to the way they [McCullum and Stokes] got me to see the game.
"Clearly, the last little while is probably what's fresh in everyone's mind, but you're looking at a four-year period where we did a lot of amazing things. I've taken a lot from that, and I feel it will be a big part of how I want to approach things moving forward as a leader of this team," he added.
England's next Test ***** ignment is a three-match home series against Pakistan, beginning on August 19 at Headingley. The New York Giants wrapped up their fourth consecutive day of workouts at their 2026 training camp in West Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
How did it go?
"Great day," head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after practice. "Very pleased with the effort. We'll have a day off tomorrow. We'll be back at it on Monday, so that's our schedule. Happy with where we're at."
The Giants will take Sunday off and hit the ground again in full pads on Monday. Harbaugh said don't expect too many changes. His practices thus far have been described as "relentless" and fast-paced.
"It'll be a very similar practice. It'll just change the tempo of the period," Harbaugh said. "Without the pads, you're not wrapping. We're not going to be tackling to the ground on Monday. We'll be doing what we call wrap and release. We're trying to stop the ball carrier if we can on defense and get the pads behind us on offense, things like that. I'm sure inside will be a little more physical than it is out here without the shoulder pads. It just ramps up just a little bit. But other than that, everything will be exactly the same."

Most people know the general gist of Maycon Cardozo's rise through the ranks of Bayern Munich so far, but it is worth repeating how rapidly the pint sized magician has overcome every challenge thus far. Picked as part of the 2024 Bayern World Squad edition, the Brazilian impressed the likes of Roy Makaay and his fellow World Squad coaches so much that they unanimously agreed to recommend Bayern to sign the youngster from the Sports Thai Bavaria Academy in Thailand. He duly joined the U17s in January 2025, moved up to the U-19s in the summer, made it to the U-23s by January 2026 and made his first team debut under Vincent Kompany in March 2026 in a 4-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Now two 2026/27 preseason games are gone and Cardozo has passed his next challenge. Moved all over the pitch to unfamiliar positions, including on the right flank against Rottach-Egern, he nevertheless impressed. Nor are just his performances on the pitch impressive, multiple coaches have been impressed by the youngster's work ethic. Bildreports (as captured by iMiaSanMia) that Cardozo has an outside chance at a role with the first team for the 2026/27 season:

It seems like the conference realignment talks never truly end, and more often than not, the Tulane Green Wave is a team that is brought up for a potential big move.
The Green Wave has found success in the American Conference in recent years, and there's never been a better time to make the jump to a bigger conference. While the Pac-12 seems the most likely right now due to the fact that it is actively rebranding and finding new members, it's not the most logical choice for Tulane: the majority of its programs are located on the West Coast or Pacific Northwest.
Rather, what would happen if the Green Wave made a jump to a Power Four conference? The team was part of the Southeastern Conference long ago, but it might be too ambitious to consider a return to that league, especially since it recently added the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. The Atlantic Coast Conference, however, seems like a more feasible landing spot. The Olive Green and Sky Blue is already in decently close proximity to some of the conference's core schools, and on a university level, it aligns well academically.
Football is the obvious moneymaker, and Tulane has made history in recent seasons. The team took down the eventual ACC Champion Duke Blue Devils early in the 2025 season and ended the year with its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. If its current trajectory continues, then the program has what it takes to compete with many of the ACC's teams.
Of course, it's important to remember that every sport should be taken into consideration when there is a possibility to make a big jump. Tulane has a storied tradition in college baseball, but the team would likely struggle a bit more against a loaded field in the ACC. Both basketball programs would also take a hit. Most of the the other sports in Uptown would probably fare about as well as they have thus far, but a few programs would likely have to align with other conferences to have enough quality league opponents; the beach volleyball and bowling programs are currently members of Conference USA due to this issue.

Were it not for Brian Rolapp's disinclination to even mention LIV Golf, you'd be forgiven for thinking the PGA Tour's CEO had spent the past week trolling his opposite number with a carpet bombing campaign of upbeat commercial announcements.
On Monday, the Tour said that Sompo, an insurance company, will sponsor an event next season and an elite Championship Series tournament starting in 2028. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Travelers will level up to the same tier. Wednesday brought news that Sentry will underwrite another of the silk-stocking stops. On Thursday, the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard was added to the public list of tournaments comprising the Tour's premier schedule. (Friday was seemingly a day of rest for sales and marketing folks at the GloHo.) Each announced tournament has a $20 million purse, though total fees incurred by sponsors run closer to $30 million.
By comparison, LIV Golf's CEO, Scott O'Neil was silent since he had no good news to share and presumably little enthusiasm for addressing damaging speculation swirling around his business. One claim — amplified by his own players — is that the team finale scheduled for August 27 to 30 in Michigan will be canceled. Then came a cautionary rumor that it might happen after all, despite no build-out having commenced at the venue. A report followed that LIV is on the cusp of signing investors to keep it afloat into 2027, an infusion pegged at $250-$300 million, or about a quarter of what the Saudis have been torching annually for the past few years. Lastly, there was renewed anticipation of a bankruptcy filing as a step toward realigning the league's financial obligations.
No wonder the PGA Tour was so eager to position itself as surging in the right direction just as its antagonist is battling the narrative that it's in a death spiral. Whether both circuits remain on their respective trajectories is another matter.

CHICAGO -- For decades, Michigan football was synonymous with doing things the right way, having never been subject to any NCAA investigations or penalties. There was little in the way of coaches doing the wrong thing, but the changeover from Gary Moeller to Lloyd Carr showed that the Wolverines weren't fully impervious to that. But the past four years have seen black eye after black eye -- some deserved, some debatably so.
From 'burgergate' to 'signgate' to Sherrone Moore's firing, it seems that cameras and the NCAA have been set up outside of Schembechler Hall for some time now. Thus, after Moore's dismissal for having an inappropriate relationship with his ****** istant, Paige Shiver, the program hired Kyle Whittingham from Utah, who's known for running a tight, clean ship.
And Whittingham said in his Big Ten media days press conference that the team is ready to put the past in the past and go forth with a clean record.
"They're hungry and ready to get back into a season and get into some football again," Whittingham said. "They've been through a lot the last four or five years, but hopefully we can put the drama to bed and just get back to being student-athletes and having a great college experience."
Whittingham noted in the same press conference that he hopes that with the most recent calamity, Moore's indiscretions, football can again be the main focus in Ann Arbor. The players are eager to showcase their capability, and he doesn't want the shadows of the past to haunt the program any further.

Two days into training camp for the Atlanta Falcons, and we're no closer to knowing who will start at quarterback Week 1 than we were back in March, when Atlanta signed Tua Tagovailoa to compete with Michael Penix Jr. for the job.
Tagovailoa was absent on Day 1 due to a reported back injury, while Penix remains limited to 7-on-7s and individual drills until he is fully cleared. The script was flipped on Day 2, with Penix getting a scheduled rest day and Tua returning for individual drills.
Thus far, undrafted rookie Jack Strand has gotten the majority of first-team reps. Looking ahead, the QB1 competition will likely have to be settled during the team's three preseason games.
Penix's injury status doesn't bode well for his long-term future in Atlanta. Tagovailoa's injury may keep the QB race close for now but if Penix doesn't get back soon, it will be hard for him to ever catch up. One anonymous NFC exec told ESPN:
"Penix being hurt isn't just a bad break for him," one NFC personnel executive said. "He was hurt all the time in college, and that was one of the big concerns."

As we are all well aware of, it has been an interesting summer for Juventus and their new CEO, Giovanni Carnevali. The transfer window has been one that has been slow to develop, but it's also one in which the majority of the Bianconeri's signings thus far have been ones in which we haven't really seen coming. The Federal Reserve's July policymaking meeting ended with no interest-rate hikes nor forward guidance but with a boatload of Fed speak and word salad.
Kevin Warsh insisted the Fed will still be able to lower inflation to its 2% target — a measure it has missed for five years — but didn't say how.
He also wants U.S. households, businesses and investors to continue to be patient with the central bank.

RC Lens goalkeeper Hervé Koffi (29) is reportedly set to join Union Saint-Gilloise, according to La DH. The move is expected to take the form of a loan with an option to buy.
Having already been on loan last season, the Burkinabé goalkeeper enjoyed a top-class campaign with SCO Angers, where he established himself as one of Ligue 1's very best goalkeepers. Back at Lens this summer, however, the Dobo-Dioulasso native is not expected to stay there for long, as he appears to be blocked by competition from Robin Risser (21).
In Belgium, Koffi will thus return to a league he knows well, having previously played for Royal Excel Mouscron in 2020-21, then for Royal Charleroi SC from 2021 to 2024. With the Unionists, the 29-year-old goalkeeper will also have the opportunity to experience the Champions League, as he faces the daunting task of replacing Kjell Scherpen (26), who moved this summer to Ipswich Town, newly promoted to the Premier League.

Bob McElligott has broken his silence after the Columbus Blue Jackets decided not to renew his contract.
The move ends his 17-year run as the team's radio play-by-play voice. Columbus announced that all games will be simulcast across television and radio beginning in the 2026-27 NHL season.
McElligott confirmed the news in a heartfelt post on X. He wrote, "As some of you have heard, I learned today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have decided to simulcast their TV broadcast, and my contract as the team's radio play-by-play announcer will not be renewed."
