Pierre Sage insisted Ismaila Sarr needs time to "digest" his failed move to Liverpool and revealed that Jean-Philippe Mateta will be out for at least three weeks.
Sarr and Mateta have both been linked with moves away from the club this summer, and are currently both injured.
The winger has not played this season because of a hip injury, while the French forward has been out with a hamstring injury. Sage gave an update on both players.
"Like every bad situation, time does the job and we need time for that," he said on Sarr. "He needs time too. First of all he needs to recover because he was and is injured. He is our player and we are happy with that.
"Sarr has to digest it for sure because it's a dream for a lot of players to play with this kind of club [Liverpool]. He had a good opportunity but in the end it didn't work. If he wants to continue, you have to have a good season with us as he did last year. We know he needs time"

Norwich City head coach Philippe Clement was frustrated with the 1-0 defeat at Stoke, but said the performance promised better days ahead.
He told BBC Radio Norfolk: "It's a crazy game to lose the three points.
"My team did a lot of things really well. I don't think I can ask more [in terms of] mentality and the will to win. You saw until the last dying seconds that the team went to win this game fully.
"We had also by far the most possession, by far the most chances. But the goalkeeper had an amazing day today, and a few blocks from them also. It's about working more on the ruthlessness.
"But to play an away game so dominantly, I think it's a really good step. If my team keeps on playing like this, we will take a lot of points this season."

While some of us may get embarrassed by our family at our graduation, this wasn't the case for Belgium's Prince Gabriel.
The Belgian royal, who is second in line to the throne, received his degree in Social and Military Sciences from the Royal Military Academy. He was joined by his parents, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, with both Philippe and Gabriel wearing their military uniforms.
Gabriel's older sister, Princess Elisabeth, was also at the ceremony, and while she didn't initially join Gabriel's photos, when they locked eyes, Gabriel invited his sister to join the family.

Equinor hopes that the Petroleum Exploration License 90 (PEL 90) offshore Namibia could hold a big discovery similar to those TotalEnergies and Galp have made in recent years in the same Orange basin, Philippe Mathieu, Executive Vice President, Exploration & Production International, at Equinor, told reporters on the sidelines of an energy conference in Norway's city of Stavanger.
A week ago, the Norwegian oil and gas major entered the Namibian exploration rush by signing an agreement with Harmattan Energy Limited, a Chevron subsidiary in Namibia, to buy a 17.4% participating interest in Petroleum Exploration License 90 (PEL 90) in the Orange Basin offshore Namibia.
The deal with the U.S. supermajor marks Equinor's entry into Namibia, and the license provides access to a drill-ready prospect scheduled for testing in 2026, the Norwegian company said last week.
"This transaction aligns with our strategy to strengthen and replenish our international portfolio through focused and disciplined growth," Mathieu said last week.

That is significant for a number of reasons.
It means if Crystal Palace are to recoup any money in transfer fees for the striker before he is eligible to sign a Bosman pre-contract with an overseas club in January, then this window provides their last opportunity to do so.
That fact will not be lost on those at Selhurst Park and there is a view from some at the club that they should look to sever ties in the coming days.

The Under-20 Women's World Cup will take place in Poland from 5 to 27 September. We are still waiting to see whether UEFA will boycott the tournament as part of the ongoing dispute between UEFA and FIFA. The BBC has confirmed that the French Football Federation (FFF) will take part. There has been no indication from The FA, although the England squad is preparing for the tournament with a friendly away to Portugal Under-20s this week.
As a reminder, the tournament is not part of the FIFA international calendar. That means there is no compulsory release of players, so clubs can prevent their players from attending. Emma Hayes recently hinted at the issue in relation to the United States youth national teams.
"I consider the Under-20 event the biggest platform for young players to play in," Hayes said in an exclusive interview with ESPN. "I keep thinking about so many of our players that, whether they miss the Under-17, how critical it is for them to come through the Under-20s."
France manager Philippe Joly made a similar point. "I've already picked my squad in my head, I've already decided in my head, but there may be a slight difference between what I want to do and what the clubs will allow me to do. First, we will draw up a provisional squad of 55 players and talk to their clubs to see if they would be willing to let their players take part. It's a crucial stage for knowing whether or not we'll have all our greatest ****** ets at our disposal."

It's been a quick leap for Bayern Munich youngster Maycon Cardozo. The former Bayern World Squad talent made his way through the youth ranks, from the U-17s to U-19s to FC Bayern II. Now, on the back of a strong preseason performance, Cardozo — who has already made his debut for Vincent Kompany in the spring — is on the cusp of the Bayern senior team.

Despite the hosts being down to 10 men, FC Twente were unable to capitalise and will now drop down a competition.
