The Lakers have been pursuing ***** inga since the beginning of the offseason, and at one point it appeared they were well-positioned to get a deal done. However, ***** inga was not interested in Los Angeles' initial contract offer.
"The Lakers could've signed him to a 2 year, $20M deal. He was not interested in that. I've heard he's been looking for closer to $20M AAV... There's a gap," Lakers insider Jovan Buha said.

On Wednesday, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko, alongside quarterback Marcel Reed, safety Marcus Ratcliffe, and linebacker Daymion Sanford, spoke to the local and national media during SEC Media Days, and after suffering what looked like a serious lower-body injury during the Maroon & White Game, Daymion Sanford, who is entering his senior season, has already graduated from his walking boot after undergoing surgery this summer.
On track to potentially return to the field earlier than expected, Sanford stated on Wednesday that he is already running again, while his recovery was "more of a mindset thing" the required plenty of patience without affecting his return timeline, while steadfast support from Mike Elko, and knowing that the Aggie linebacker rotation is in good shape with transfer Ray Coney and rising sophomore Noah Mikhail leading the way before he returns.
"I think it's going to be pretty difficult," Sanford stated. "But it's more of a mindset thing that I've learned throughout this process. You have to celebrate the small wins every day and make yourself feel good. So I've been celebrating the small wins, like being able to walk again, being able to get out of the brace, being able to run, stuff like that."
During the first portion of his Q&A with the local Aggie media, Sanford was asked which defensive player on the roster is under the radar entering the 2026 season, and while a long list of returning players could have been named, Sanford chose Illinois transfer defensive tackle Angelo McCullom, who reportedly hit a new bench press personal record of 470 pounds.
While North Carolina transfer defensive tackle CJ Mims is expected to start at nose tackle, McCullom, who appeared in 12 games at nose tackle last season, recording 19 tackles and 2 sacks, will serve as his primary backup. Per Pro Football Focus, McCullom finished the year with a solid 70.3 run defense grade.

The Chargers made a roster move ahead of the start of their training camp.
The NFL's transaction report for Friday shows that they placed offensive tackle Isaiah World on the non-football injury list.
World signed with the Chargers after going undrafted out of Oregon. He tore his ACL during the team's college football playoff loss to Indiana, so it may be some time before he's ready to get back on the field.
World played three seasons at Nevada before transferring to Oregon. He started 14 games at left tackle during his only season with the Ducks.
Chargers rookies reported to training camp this week. They will have their full squad in camp on July 28 with their first practice set for the next day.

The Los Angeles Rams revealed their new alternate uniforms on Thursday, displaying two looks that are throwbacks to the past. One pays homage to the 1950s teams in Los Angeles, and the other is a nod to the "Fearsome Foursome."
Inspiring a new generation with a look back to the past, here are three observations of the uniforms.
When I first saw the all-white uniform, it conjured images of snowy Chicago and how the Rams' white road uniforms blended in so nicely with the snow. It's a sleek look that would look amazing, should the Rams once again be forced to go on the road in the postseason.
What really takes it over the top is the white horns. An homage to the past, the way the white pops off the blue really shows off the entire look.
As the all-white jersey pays respect to the Rams before the NFL-AFL merger, the current defensive line took a picture honoring the original foursome that defined the look in the 60s and 70s. The current crop of fans may not have been able to enjoy watching the likes of Merlin Olsen, Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy, and Rosey Grier dominate in their time, but Myles Garrett, Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske, Byron Young, and potentially Aaron Donald should be able to emulate that feeling this season.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett is still angling for a new contract, but he won't be a holdout. Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur confirmed in a press conference on Thursday that Brissett will be practicing with the rest of the team.
"Still ongoing. It's been productive between us and his team," LaFleur said of negotiations on a potential extension.
Brissett is set to be the team's starting quarterback this fall, but is reportedly aiming for an extension that will pay him like one. As a result, the veteran QB skipped the Cardinals' offseason workouts and optional practices while conversations were ongoing.
At the time, LaFleur downplayed Brissett's decision to miss OTAs. Brissett later made it to mandatory minicamp in June; skipping that camp or full-team training camp, which started on Thursday, would have made him a holdout.
Under Brissett's current deal, the veteran QB is set to make $4.88 million in base salary, with $1.5 million guaranteed and $2 million in potential incentives, per Spotrac. That makes him one of the lowest-paid starting quarterbacks in the league by far — below even rookie Los Angeles Rams backup Ty Simpson in annual salary, per Over the Cap.

Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with Manu Kone’s representatives over personal terms, per Corriere dello Sport.
The Red Devils have completed the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.

After Cameron Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies fell to the Golden State Warriors in the 2026 NBA Summer League championship, fans were curious to know who would take home tournament MVP honors.
Although ESPN named Boozer their MVP of the tournament, NBA voters didn't quite see it the same way, awarding Boozer's rival, Yaxel Lendeborg, with the trophy. However, Boozer was recognized as one of the top players throughout the summer, being named to the 2026 NBA Summer League First Team. Boozer was joined by Lendeborg, Caleb Wilson, Brayden Burries and Meleek Thomas, the only second-rounder to make the first team.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has decided to use her platform to speak out on a hot-button political issue, and predictably, it has sparked widespread outrage from fans.
During a recent interview with ESPN, Cunningham spoke out against transgender women competing in women’s sport, eliciting quite a strong response from fans and media.
During a recent interview with ESPN, Cunningham was asked about the “MAGA Barbie” nickname she has recently been given. While Cunningham says that label is a projection, given that she is a white girl from Missouri, she did go on to speak out on how to “protect women’s sports.”
“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,'” she told ESPN. “I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
Despite these comments, Cunningham claims that she is “very much in the middle” when it comes to her political beliefs.

The last time South Carolina football welcomed Tennessee to Williams-Brice Stadium, the Gamecocks scored so many touchdowns they ran out of fireworks.
The 63-38 victory over the Vols is a major highlight from the last five seasons under coach Shane Beamer but that was four years ago.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins will need to produce under center in 2026. Fernando Mendoza's presence in Las Vegas takes some pressure off of Cousins for next season, though in the event that the latter is named the starting QB, he will still carry major expectations on the year.
According to CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles, Cousins is one of four quarterbacks who face defining seasons in 2026 with their respective new teams.
Before the injury, Cousins was somewhat like Sam Darnold, whom Klint Kubiak really did well with last year. Can he still be somewhat similar to that, even if a step down? … They'll (the Raiders) hope Tyler Linderbaum helps elevate the unit as a whole, but Cousins behind an iffy line is a scary proposition. Expect a heavy dose of Bowers. Cousins found a good connection with Pitts last year; he'll feed his standout tight end.
Cousins is looking to bounce back from injuries that slowed him down for the last two years. The Raiders have an improved roster for next season, particularly on offense, with an upgraded offensive line and more depth in the backfield. The 37-year-old Cousins is expected to orchestrate that unit and be a mentor to Mendoza regardless of who gets the start in Week 1.
With the different ways that Cousins will be looked at to make an impact on the team in 2026 and set the tone for the franchise, he approaches a year that carries major implications for himself and the Raiders.

I would love to think that by the time the summer window closes and the music eventually stops, the homegrown goalkeeper finds himself at a club at which he can begin to, if not make up for lost time — because he’s still young and boasts potential in spades — yet certainly relaunch a career that although still in its relatively early stages at senior level, is undoubtedly in need of a pick-me-up.

I hope every MLB fan gets used to Bobby Witt Jr. in the All-Star Game. This is already Witt’s third All-Star Game, and Witt just turned 26 last month. The Kansas City Royals record for most All-Star selections is George Brett with 13; Salvador Perez is second with nine. After that, multiple Royals are tied with five selections, and it seems at least that Witt is on track to move into third place as soon as 2028.
Joining Witt is Michael Wacha, making his second All-Star appearance. Wacha’s first All-Star Game? All the way back in 2015, when he was but a wee 23-year-old with the St. Louis Cardinals.

LAS VEGAS -- The Philadelphia 76ers were aggressive at the outset of free agency as President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey and the front office are in the process of building a roster that can take down the champion New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference.
The first signing the team made was by bringing in Dean Wade in free agency. After seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wade signed a deal with the Sixers after averaging 5.8 points and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 36.2% from deep on 3.3 attempts. He is a low-usage player, 9.9% in the 2025-26 season, and that is going to be a huge factor for how coach Nick Nurse uses him in his system.
"That part of it is really important," Nurse said of Wade's low usage. "I think we do need, with all this, somebody's got to be out there that's just an opportunity scorer, right? There's something there. They get it. Boom, they do it. And if they're not? If none of those opportunities are there, they don't really care, and they keep still doing all the other stuff, right? That's him."
With the Sixers having higher usage players such as Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Joel Embiid, they need somebody like Wade who doesn't need the ball and can find his opportunities within the offensive ecosystem. Obviously, the ball will be in the other four's hands more often than not. That gives Wade the opportunity to find catch-and-shoot 3s or cut to the basket for layups. Those types of opportunities will be extremely important.
A big thing Nurse likes about Wade is his ability to do many other things out on the floor. He is an underrated defender for this group, and while he isn't some lockdown defender, he can take on guards, wings, and bigs, and not blink an eye.

The San Francisco Giants are likely to sell at this year's trade deadline.
They have a few players who could be switching teams in the next few weeks, including Matt Chapman, Jung Hoo Lee, and Luis Arraez.
Due to his expiring contract, Arraez is the most likely Giants player to be traded. He's also having a great defensive season at second base, which makes him more valuable.

England downed Norway to secure a place in the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup last night, and who else but Jude Bellingham would help seal the win.
Both of England’s goals on the night were scored by Real Madrid’s in-form sensation as he demolished Norway’s defence with his smart movements and adept finishing. Further, his work rate off the ball was inspiring and he also helped add to the transitional threat.

Peyton Bonds has been drafted in the third round of the MLB draft by the team that two of his ancestors played for, the San Francisco Giants. With his drafting, Bonds will have the opportunity to continue his family’s legacy not just in MLB but in the Bay Area, as both his father, Bobby Bonds II, and his uncle, Barry Bonds, spent much of their careers playing for the Giants. Barry currently holds the MLB record for home runs in a career.
Bonds was taken with the 90th overall pick.
Last season for Rutgers, Bonds recorded 50 hits in 142 at-bats along with 6 home runs. He also recorded 31 total runs and 29 RBI’s last season.
Many scouting reports say that he has a good power-hitting build at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, and that he has a good bat speed and good exit velocity, likely just needing a few tweaks to be a good power hitter at the major league level.
However, many reports also talk about his good skill in the field. Last season, Bonds recorded 80 put-outs and a .976 fielding percentage.

A brawl broke out at Oracle Park in San Francisco after a game between the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies on Thursday, July 9. The incident took place just after 9:45 p.m. PT.
San Francisco police officers who were working the game responded to reports of a fight involving multiple people, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Several people were detained. and four were arrested and booked into the San Francisco County Jail.
Video shared on social media showed people at the game exchanging punches in the lower bowl of Oracle Park while nearby spectators tried to intervene.
The arrested individuals range in age from 21 to 29. One was charged with suspicion of ******* ault and public intoxication, while the other three were arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and disturbing the peace.
In a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle Friday, July 10, a Giants spokesperson said arrests were made after stadium security contacted police ******* igned to the ballpark. The team said everyone involved will be banned from the stadium.

The French star came through Manchester United’s academy but, after just seven matches for the senior team, left for Juventus in 2012.
He made an incredible return to the club in 2016 and spent six years at Manchester United before departing again in 2022 for Juventus.
Pogba was shockingly banned from football for four years after failing a drugs test, but on appeal, the punishment was reduced to 18 months and he signed for AS Monaco last summer.
Sadly, injury and fitness issues have continued to plague the player, and he only managed to make six appearances and play a paltry total of 115 minutes all season.

The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday that Cuban alleges Dumont has engaged in "adversarial business practices" as part of a bid to move the franchise approximately 10 miles north of downtown Dallas, to the former site of a local mall. Both a Mavericks spokeswoman and Cuban declined to comment on the allegations when contacted by The **** ociated Press.
The billionaire businessman divested his majority stake in the Mavericks in 2023, selling it to the families of Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont, Adelson's son-in-law.
Cuban claims he had an agreement to continue overseeing basketball operations, but alleges Dumont instead granted former general manager Nico Harrison full control of the team's basketball decisions.
The newspaper further reported that Cuban stated in the filing he was unaware of Harrison's plan to trade superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025 until it was too late to intervene. That trade reportedly backfired on the Mavericks, leading to Harrison's dismissal in November following the team's sluggish start to the 2025-26 season.

Almost four months after winning the T20 World Cup, India have decided to move on from two key figures of the squad that defended the **** le at home. While Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the men's senior selection committee, held a press conference explaining the move regarding SKY, much was left to the imagination and interpretation when Samson was excluded from the Shreyas Iyer-led squad for Zimbabwe.

Not long ago, Samson was the toast of the nation for his knocks in the business end of the multi-nation tournament but the selectors have been wary of the inconsistency on either side of those outings. The opener only made the World Cup XI because the left-handed top-order struggled against off-spin. He repaid the faith, but the frustrating pattern of inconsistency returned even in the IPL and subsequent international fixtures. Add to this a red-hot Vaibhav Sooryavanshi making life uncomfortable for the decision-makers.

Samson was the coaching set-up's original choice and received backing in the press conferences, but the other crucial stakeholders in Indian cricket were not willing to make Sooryavanshi wait in the wings. The argument was simple: "How can you make him carry drinks? The whole argument of 'he will learn' sounds so kiddish right now. You don't make him learn by carrying towels and drinks. You throw him in the deep end to swim when he is riding high on confidence," explains a well-placed source.

Someone had to make way, and the options were Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Samson. While the southpaws have managed to stay amongst the runs, consistency has never been Samson's friend. Whether this sends the right message to the team and players is a separate discussion, but this move was purely aimed at giving Sooryavanshi the rope he has earned, even if it comes at the cost of snapping it for someone else.

Prabhsimran Singh's maiden international call-up sends another message. Even if Kishan, Sharma, or Sooryavanshi have failures or inconsistent outings, Prabhsimran is ready to grab his chance, and it could well be a tough road back for the experienced Samson. While he hasn't been the only player missing from the squad playing in England, he is the only one-format player left out. Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel have also missed the cut. Initially, there were suggestions to send a second-string side to Zimbabwe, under a new captain, but this did not translate into anything meaningful.
There are murmurs that the regular support staff might skip the Zimbabwe tour. While TimesofIndia.com couldn't confirm, discussions have occurred because the turnaround time between the ODIs against England and the Zimbabwe series is very less. It remains to be seen whether the Gambhir-led support staff boards the flight or if the Indian cricket board sends coaches from the CoE panel.
