Ryan Reynolds is already something of a modern-day Renaissance man, being a highly successful actor, billionaire business mogul, and global soccer magnate. He could soon add watchmaker to his ever-growing list of ***** les, too.
"I'm about to start horology class," the actor shared in an Instagram story on Sunday. "Trying to learn how to take watches apart and back together again. For no reason other than curiosity and a love of this strange mashup of art and engineering."

The UCLA Bruins brought in Bob Chesney to elevate the football program to a point where the team is competing at the highest level. A great way to move towards that is to become the best team in the city that you're in.
UCLA football certainly hasn't been better than USC since the turn of the century, and it's been even worse for the Bruins since the turn of the century. USC will be good again this year but Lincoln Riley has been even better off of the field, landing several top-of-the-line recruiting classes.
So when might Chesney and the Bruins be able to compete consistently against USC? Maybe pretty soon. Trojans Wire writer Matt Zemek voiced his belief that things can change quickly in the world of college football.
"When UCLA kicked USC up and down the field in 2023, we all saw why that happened. D'Anton Lynn's UCLA defense swarmed USC's tissue-soft offensive line and blew up the Trojans' backfield again and again. UCLA was the far more physical team that day. The Bruins were physical with USC last season and were therefore able to push the Trojans even though they had far less talent," Zemek said. "UCLA under Bob Chesney should be able to play with the physicality needed to beat USC. Given that Chesney has recruited well and shows promise as someone who can develop his players, that's all UCLA really needs to match and then exceed USC. It all goes back to Chesney being half as good for UCLA as Curt Cignetti has been for Indiana. If Chesney is even remotely close to the Cignetti standard, UCLA will run LA barring a Lincoln Riley renaissance in which his offenses start putting up 55 points a game the way he did at Oklahoma."
Cignetti may be the best coach in the sport but Chesney even earning comparisons to the reigning national champion head coach is a good sign in Westwood.

Experts are increasingly bullish on the potential of nuclear energy. Multiple Wall Street companies are predicting a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity for investors.
"After decades of underinvestment, a convergence of generational technological breakthroughs, intensifying geopolitical competition, and the need for clean, dense, reliable power are positioning nuclear energy for a renaissance," predicts Goldman Sachs.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Analysts at Goldman Sachs are particularly excited about relatively new forms of nuclear power, including small modular reactors, or SMRs.
"[H]yperscalers have ... helped lead investment in the commercialization of next-generation nuclear power, namely small modular reactors (SMRs) and fusion energy," the bank's ******* ysts conclude. "These technologies, long brushed off as too far from commercialization, are now drawing significant public and private sector support."

Over the past few years, Wall Street has fallen back in love with nuclear power. And it's easy to see why.
AI is driving a surge in electricity demand, prompting governments to extend the lives of existing reactors and encouraging big tech to secure nuclear power for data centers. As a result, we've seen a run-up on uranium miners, reactor developers, and nuclear fuel companies.
Continue »
That said, you don't have to pile into the same nuclear stocks as everyone else to benefit from this trend. In fact, I would even argue there's a much easier, safer way to profit from the continued rise in electricity demand while still getting exposure to the nuclear energy renaissance.
Hyperscale data centers can require hundreds of megawatts of electricity, with some campuses eventually consuming more than 1 gigawatt on their own. To put that in perspective, that's enough to power roughly 750,000 U.S. homes, or every single home in the state of Maine.

On a tough night at the very start of a new season, against a dogged Dundee, it was a familiar name that helped Celtic usher in victory.
No, not Benjamin Nygren - last season's top scorer and the man who nodded in the winner to kickstart the Scottish Premiership defence - but Kieran Tierney, the man who crossed the ball for the Swede to head in.
The left-back has arguably been Celtic's best player since the return of Martin O'Neill in January, but his renaissance has gone a little under the radar.
Perhaps that's because we expect so much from the man who once fetched Celtic a reported £25m in a move to ***** nal.
Regardless, he still registered 12 ***** ists last season, the most of any Celtic player, and scored six goals from defence.

3 reasons why Orioles might trade Adley Rutschman by 2026 MLB deadline originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Baltimore Orioles are in an interesting spot as a franchise, because on one hand, they're still in the postseason hunt, while on the other reveals a chance to be major sellers and land a haul to shake up their current core.
There's been plenty of attention on Taylor Ward in the outfield as a trade target, but catcher Adley Rutschman, even on the injured list, is receiving significant interest. But, will the Orioles trade their fan favorite All-Star catcher?
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel, there are three good reasons why a trade of Rutschman has a real chance of happening this season.
"Rutschman's renaissance this season has come at a great time for Baltimore: He's a free agent after next season, Baltimore has Samuel Basallo locked up long term, and there's almost no chance of the sides coming together on a long-term deal," Passan and McDaniel write.

Columbia Threadneedle Investments, an investment management company, released its "Columbia Seligman Global Technology Fund" second quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. During the quarter, the Fund's Institutional Class shares returned 50.34%, outperforming the MSCI World Information Technology Index's 33.65% gain. Stock selection in semiconductors, technology hardware and software, together with an off-benchmark electrical equipment allocation, supported relative performance, while exposure to financials, consumer discretionary and healthcare detracted. Technology stocks rallied as concerns over the Iran conflict eased and AI infrastructure spending boosted demand for semiconductors, memory, networking, servers and power solutions. The Fund expects AI and data-centre investment to remain strong, supported by broadening earnings growth and improving software bookings, cloud consumption and customer spending. However, geopolitical uncertainty, higher interest rates and heavy AI investment could pressure valuations and free cash flow. The strategy holds 50–75 technology companies across market capitalisations and uses bottom-up GARP research to identify misunderstood and undervalued businesses in the technology industry. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Columbia Seligman Global Technology Fund highlighted Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD). Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is a leading semiconductor company that designs and manufactures of AI accelerators, microprocessors, and graphics processing units. On July 27, 2026, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) closed at $494.95 per share. One-month return of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) was -14.80% and its shares gained 178.94% over the past 52 weeks. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) has a market capitalization of about $807.07 billion.
Columbia Seligman Global Technology Fund stated the following regarding Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"The fund did not own some of the larger central processing unit (CPU) companies such as Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) and the server CPU opportunity is having a renaissance driven by agentic AI. This lack of exposure ultimately detracted from performance, as the companies' share prices moved sharply higher during the quarter."
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) ranks 20 on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds Heading Into 2026. According to our database, 134 hedge fund portfolios held Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) at the end of the first quarter, up from 132 in the previous quarter. A message of gratitude earned Oprah Winfrey a special gift from Queen Bey.
She told the story on the Are You Okay? web series, explaining how it all happened.
"I went to the Beyoncé Renaissance concert," Winfrey said in a clip posted to social media Monday. "I was so blown away. I wrote her a fan letter. She obviously liked the fan letter because she then sent me one of the hats from Renaissance. Beyoncé sent me a hat!"
She continued, breaking into a dance, "I sent her a letter and she sent me a hat! I sent her a letter and she sent me a hat!"
Oprah previously praised Beyoncé's Renaissance show on Instagram, writing alongside a clip of Bey onstage, "I have never in my life experienced something as transcendent as beyonce's Renaissance Tour."

MLB Trade Rumors | Charlie Wright: The Yankees rearranged their planned starters for this weekend's series in Philadelphia. Cam Schlittler was **** ped up to start Friday on normal rest, with Will Warren pushed back to Sunday. Warren appeared in relief Wednesday to help provide some coverage during a doubleheader. With Max Fried back in the rotation and Carlos Rodón on the comeback trail, Warren's recent usage suggests his spot in the rotation could be in jeopardy.
MLB.com | Thomas Harrigan: The Yankees have gotten virtually no offensive production from the catcher position this season. With the trade deadline looming, expect them to pursue an upgrade. The most likely candidate is Minnesota's Ryan Jeffers, a righty bat who's a free agent after the season. The Athletics' Shea Langeliers and Colorado's Hunter Goodman are higher-upside plays with more years of club control, but there's no guarantee either will be moved. The Mets' Francisco Alvarez and Baltimore's Adley Rutschman loom as longshots, with Cincinnati's Tyler Stephenson and Minnesota's Victor Caratini less exciting backup plans should the rest fall through.
NJ.com | James Mertz: Paul Blackburn has broken out with the Yankees this year after moving to the bullpen full-time, posting a 2.00 ERA in 35 outings. He attributes the career renaissance in part with the consistency the Yankees have provided. The veteran contrasts that with his tenure with the Mets, who constantly shuttled him between the rotation and the bullpen. "I felt like we were just playing a video game," he said of his time across town, during which he posted a 6.00 ERA in 12 games.
CBS Sports | Rotowire Staff: Luis Gil faced live batters on Friday for the first time since early May, throwing BP. He's been on the minor-league IL, working back from right shoulder inflammation. The former Rookie of the Year was disastrous in four starts early this year and has no guaranteed role upon his return.

Former Ohio State basketball star Jae'Sean Tate is returning to Houston. The Rockets announced the re-signing of the former Buckeye forward to a one-year deal on Thursday. According to Hoops Hype's Michael Scotto, the contract is worth $3.07 million with a partial guarantee of $1.04 million.
Tate is entering his seventh year with the Rockets after banking the odds and finding his way to Houston after first playing in Europe. He was signed to an NBA contract in 2020 and quickly became a starter who could do a little bit of everything for the Rockets, even making the All-NBA Rookie First Team, becoming only the second non-NBA-drafted player to do so.
Tate has averaged 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 ***** ists during his six years with Houston, but those numbers are dragged down a bit by last season's 2.8 points per contest in limited action. He may be on the tail end of his career, but he has been a mainstay in Houston longer than any other player on the team. Hopefully, this coming season will see a bit of a renaissance, being paired with former Ohio State all-time leading scorer and star guard Bruce Thornton.
Tate becomes only the 15th player in Rockets' history to play at least seven seasons with the club. We wish Tate success and the chance to get a contract beyond this next season.

A venue fit for royalty served as the backdrop for Meghan Markle's 2019 baby shower. On a snowy February day, the year before she and Prince Harry stepped back as senior members of the royal family, the **** ss of Sussex was showered with love by friends at New York's luxurious The Mark Hotel.
The 16-story neo-Italian Renaissance, landmark building, located on the corner of 77th Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan, was designed by architects Schwartz & Gross in 1926. The property offers 106 rooms, 44 suites and three penthouses.

Ludvig Åberg’s U.K. fortnight didn’t get off to the best of starts.
Prior to last week’s Genesis Scottish Open, Åberg had to replace his driver shaft and launch monitor after both were damaged on his travel overseas.
Åberg flew from Boston to his native Sweden following the Travelers Championship, though his bags, including his golf bags, didn’t join him for three days. When they finally arrived, Åberg discovered the damage.
“When I pulled it out my driver was snapped in half,” Åberg said during an on-course interview on Tuesday at Royal Birkdale. “My Foresight, the [GC] Quad that I use, was cracked in half.”
Åberg missed the cut last Friday at Renaissance Club and enters this week’s Open Championship without a top-10 finish since his T-4 at the PGA Championship. However, Åberg has been solid in recent majors, currently riding a streak of four straight top-25s in those biggest events since missing back-to-back cuts, at last year’s PGA and U.S. Open.

Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler, who ended his cut streak last week at The Renaissance Club, will try and defend his ******* le from last season. He's a significant favorite alongside Rory McIlroy, who is coming off a top-10 finish at the Scottish Open but hasn't won The Open in more than a decade.
But as always, links golf is a completely different animal. The Claret Jug is anybody's to grab this week.

Tom Kim captured the biggest victory of his PGA Tour career Sunday, winning the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
With weather delays forcing part of the field to complete the third round Sunday morning, players faced a busy final day before Kim emerged atop the leaderboard.
The 24-year-old fired a bogey-free, 6-under 64 in the final round to finish at 17-under for the tournament, securing his fourth PGA Tour victory. Kim made just one bogey over the weekend as he continued his return to top form.
After finishing 108th in the FedEx Cup standings last season, Kim has enjoyed a strong resurgence in 2026 and now sits 32nd in the standings heading into next week's final major championship.
Min Woo Lee finished alone in second place at 15-under. Keita Nakajima, Johnny Keefer, Matt Fitzpatrick and Robert MacIntyre tied for third at 13-under.

Had golf fans been told that Scottie Scheffler would continue his run of either missing the cut or finishing in the top 10 at the Scottish Open this year, they would have likely ******* umed that the world number one had enjoyed another impressive week in a strange season.
It had been nearly four years since Scheffler had missed a cut on the PGA Tour. And while he had flirted with taking the weekend off at the Genesis Invitational and the Memorial Tournament earlier this year, it was a seismic shock when he finished his second round at The Renaissance Club at level par.
It is far from ideal preparation as he gears up to defend The Open Championship next week at Royal Birkdale.
But it is not the first time that Scottie Scheffler has gone into the final major of the year having missed the cut in North Berwick.
Scheffler enjoyed a rapid rise between his first two appearances at The Open Championship.

The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open is far from over.
Dense fog rolled over the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, on Saturday, forcing two separate suspensions in play. Most players in contention will have to return to the golf course early Sunday morning, as the second round resumes at 7 a.m. local time (2 a.m. ET). Then, the final round will commence.
World No. 4 Matt Fitzpatrick was tied at the top of the leaderboard with Michael Thorbjornsen when play was suspended Saturday, but there are dozens still within striking distance, including defending champ Chris Gotterup, reigning U.S. Open champ Wyndham Clark and crowd-favorite Robert MacIntyre, who's looking to win his native national open for the second time in three years.
You won't want to miss the action Sunday. Check out the TV and streaming schedule for the final round of the 2026 Genesis Scottish Open.

NORTH BERWICK, SCOTLAND - JULY 08: Scottie Scheffler of the United States plays a shot prior to the Genesis Scottish Open 2025 at The Renaissance Club on July 08, 2025 in North Berwick, Scotland. (Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images)
You have to go back to 2022 to find the last time world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler missed a cut. That remarkable run came to an end Friday at the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, snapping a streak of 78 consecutive made cuts on the PGA Tour.
Outside of Tiger Woods' PGA Tour record of 142 consecutive made cuts, Scheffler's streak was the longest among active players and one of the most remarkable displays of consistency in the modern era.
Scheffler carded a 2-over 72 in the second round to finish two shots outside the cut line. After opening with a 2-under 68 on Thursday, he began Friday just three shots off the lead and appeared well positioned heading into the weekend. But a sluggish start quickly derailed his round, as bogeys on two of his first three holes dropped him behind the cut line. Despite settling in over the remainder of the day, he was unable to recover.
"Got off to a poor start and after that, I didn't really hit it close enough to give myself a bunch of looks," Scheffler said. "That's how you shoot over par."

July 10 (UPI) -- Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler was even par through two rounds at the 2026 Scottish Open and is on track to miss is first cut in nearly four years.
Scheffler, who was 2-under through his first 18 holes, carded a 2-over 72 on Friday at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick. The projected cut is 2-under.
"I got off to a poor start," Scheffler told reporters. "Then, after that, I just didn't really hit it close enough to give myself a bunch of looks. That's how you shoot over par."
Scheffler made two birdies and four bogeys over his final 18 holes of the tournament. He made four birdies, including a run of three-consecutive, and two bogies in Thursday's opening round.
He is set to miss the cut at a tournament for the first time since the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship. His streak snapped at 78 consecutive made cuts.

Scottie Scheffler will miss the cut for the first time in nearly four years after carding a second-round score of 2-over 72 on Friday, July 10 at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick during the Scottish Open.
The world's top-ranked golfer found little rhythm in his second round, an unusual sight for Scheffler, who has dominated leaderboards.
At the Scottish Open, only the top 65 golfers and ties advance to the weekend. Scheffler, after carding four bogeys in a turbulent second round, slipped to a tie for 88th. His chances of playing into the weekend ultimately vanished with a missed 6-foot par putt on the 18th, leaving him at even-par 142 after two rounds, well short of the projected cut line that is projected at 2 under.
"Just felt like I wasn't hitting it close enough to give myself enough opportunities," Scheffler said, according to the ******* ociated Press. "I think that's really kind of what it comes down to."

The Renaissance Club hosts second-round action of the Genesis Scottish Open on Friday, with a loaded field of players vying for the top prize from a $9 million purse.
Chris Gotterup is looking to become the first player to successfully defend the Scottish Open crown, Gotterup, who is also going for back-to-back wins after capturing the John Deere Classic last weekend, shot an opening round 2-under 68.
He trails a crowded leaderboard that features Rory McIlory, who was runner-up to Gotterup last year but has won at Renaissance Club before. McIlory shares part of the lead after carding a 65 on Thursday.

Rory McIlroy claimed a share of the early lead after an opening-round 65 at the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club. Starting at the 10th, the 2023 champion's first nine was a mixed bag which began and ended with bogeys but had three birdies in between as he turned at one under.
But the 601-yard first played to his strengths as a 352-yard drive was followed by a four-iron to inside 19 feet for an eagle.
That should have kick-started a charge but he missed a three-foot birdie attempt at the par-3 third and a 14-footer at the next.
But he was on in two at the 575-yard seventh and two-putted from 61 feet to get to 4 under, tied the lead with a 16-foot putt from the fringe at the next and saved par with a brilliant, back-spinning bunker shot at the last.
"I thought for the most part, I played well. I felt like I drove the ball particularly well, and I started to see that at Shinnecock a couple weeks ago," said McIlroy. "It's a continuation of putting the ball in play and then once I do that I feel like I can attack courses and I can set up scoring opportunities.

NORTH BERWICK, Scotland (AP) — Rory McIlroy began getting into the mood for the final major of the year by taking advantage of the par 5s at The Renaissance Club for a 5-under 65, giving him a four-way share of the lead among the early starters Thursday in the Genesis Scottish Open.
Patrick Cantlay made a little noise in an otherwise quiet year for the American with five birdies in 10 holes and then a collection of tough par saves at the end that felt just as valuable. He also was at 65, along with Tom Kim and Bernd Wiesberger.
Brooks Koepka was among those one shot behind.
Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, was among those playing in the afternoon on a glorious summer day along the Firth of Forth.
McIlroy holed an 18-foot eagle putt on the par-5 first hole — he started his round on No. 10 — to go along with a pair of birdies on the other two par 5s at The Renaissance Club. That made his round and his scorecard feel a little better.

Rory McIlroy has urged the PGA Tour to "be careful" with the future of the Scottish Open when it introduces its two-tier format in 2028.
Under the new system, the schedules for the Championship - which will contain the PGA Tour's leading players - and the second-tier Challenger series will run concurrently.
Championship players will not be able to feature in Challenger events and vice versa, although anyone who wins two Challenger events in the same season will gain immediate promotion to the Championship.
The Scottish Open would not qualify for Championship status so, while 14 of the world's top 20 are competing at this week's tournament at Renaissance Club, many of those big-name players could be ineligible to play in the tournament from 2028 under the new rules.
Bob MacIntyre, Scotland's leading player, called for "exceptions" to be made for his home Open when the new schedule is implemented.

Major League Baseball has a balance problem.
No, not the $338 million payroll gap between the Dodgers and the Marlins. The conversation about the financial haves and have-nots should be held on another, much colder day. If that’s your cup of tea, the impending work stoppage this winter will provide ample time for such discussions.
The more relevant (though admittedly less important) example of unevenness impacting MLB is the glaring disparity in quality between the American League and the National League. On the diamond, the NL has absolutely clobbered the AL this season, notching a .554 interleague winning percentage as of Wednesday. The NL has nine teams over .500; the AL has six. The NL has five teams with a run differential better than plus-40; the AL has one.
Next week, that discrepancy will be on full display as the leagues square off in Philadelphia for the 96th annual All-Star Game. The National League roster is chock-full of stars, both established and ascendent. Multiple worthy characters — JJ Wetherholt, Brice Turang, Michael Harris II, Zack Wheeler — couldn’t crack the roster. The American League, meanwhile, is scrambling to fill a void caused by injuries, underperformance and an interleague exodus.
That’s not to say the junior circuit is devoid of talent. Junior Caminero is billboard material. Bobby Witt Jr., even in the midst of a down year at the plate, might be the third-most valuable player in baseball. Nick Kurtz is an imposing slugger with star-scraping power. Yordan Álvarez is reestablishing himself as the most feared at-bat in the game. Mike Trout has turned back the clock to deliver a wonderful renaissance.

Robert MacIntyre has suggested that he is pleased to have been drawn with Rory McIlroy and Chris Gotterup for the opening two rounds of the Scottish Open, but joked that he may have one problem with his group.
MacIntyre is going to be one of the favourites to win this week at The Renaissance Club. The highlight of his career to date came with his victory at the same venue back in 2024.
Of course, the Scot will also have the majority of the crowd on his side this week at North Berwick. But perhaps there may be some divided loyalties among those who follow his group on Thursday and Friday.
The previous three winners of the event have been put together, with Rory McIlroy and Chris Gotterup also returning to the scene of a previous triumph.
McIlroy produced one of the most iconic shots of his career on his way to winning in 2023. Meanwhile, Gotterup won a lot of admirers with the way he edged the battle with the Northern Irishman 12 months ago.

The PGA Tour has specific events on their calendar which are combined with other entities. The upcoming Genesis Scottish Open, which is also a DP World Tour event, would be a perfect example of these types of events.
The Scottish Open is one of the non-major events where you will see the majority of the game’s best players, whether they are on the PGA or LIV Golf Tours. The Scottish Open isn’t just a full field event, but is also considered the final run-up to the Open Championship, the fourth and final major tournament of the season.
Let’s take a look at the details of the upcoming Scottish Open:

The PGA Tour are co-sanctioning the Genesis Scottish Open this week alongside the DP World Tour.
Rahm will be making his first appearance at the Scottish Open since 2022, and he is obviously heading to Renaissance Club with the intention of winning.
Jon Rahm left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf way back in December 2023, after he was offered a staggering $500 million signing-on fee.
As a result of his move, the 31-year-old Spaniard was immediately banned from playing in any PGA Tour event.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President JD Vance on Thursday said the Watergate scandal that brought down President Richard Nixon would have been a blip in today's news cycle, and he drew parallels between Nixon and President Donald Trump — arguing that both were targeted by "deep state" forces.
Vance described his admiration for Nixon during a conversation at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California. Widely expected to be a presidential contender in 2028, Vance spoke at the library while promoting his new book, "Communion."
After talking about the book and his faith journey, Vance shifted to Nixon, saying the legacy of the 37th president is "enjoying a bit of a renaissance."
"If Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be like a 12-hour news story. The idea that it would have taken down a presidency is crazy," Vance said.
He went on: "If you look at the story of how the deep state took down Richard Nixon, it's not all that different from what the same groups of people, the same institutions tried to do to Donald Trump in the first Trump administration."
