The nest egg needed to support a comfortable retirement varies widely by state.
Couples receiving dividend income may need a smaller nest egg, but those payments can fluctuate and aren't guaranteed.
Monthly dividends totaling $500 to $2,000 can shrink the required invested nest egg by $150,000 to $600,000.
Building a stream of dividend income is a common retirement strategy, giving couples regular cash flow that can help cover expenses without requiring them to sell as much of their portfolio.
An Investopedia ****** ysis found that a typical American couple age 65 or older needs about $1.16 million saved for a comfortable retirement after accounting for roughly $37,700 a year in Social Security. Across the 50 states and Washington, D.C., that figure ranges from about $800,000 to nearly $1.33 million.

A Michigan retiree couple needs roughly $927,000 invested at a 4% withdrawal rate, versus $1.07 million in Florida.
Florida homeowners pay $8,471 yearly for insurance versus $2,415 in Michigan, a $6,000 gap that requires $151,000 in extra savings.
Michigan exempts Social Security and offers married couples a $128,080 retirement deduction, potentially zeroing state tax on a $37,000 IRA withdrawal.

Retiring to a lake town in Michigan or Wisconsin often raises questions about snow and winter conditions compared with a move to Florida. Winter is one factor in that comparison, but the rest of the picture gets mentioned less often: insurance, taxes, housing, and summers. This piece runs the numbers for a couple at full retirement age.

Pat McAfee has found himself in the centre of another media storm following his debacle surrounding his recent visit to the University of Utah.
The ESPN presenter has admitted his visit to Utah made him feel uncomfortable with both the university and its students providing him with a hostile atmosphere. In the days since, McAfee has used his platforms to call out his visit as his worst experience yet on College GameDay.
McAfee's comments following the visit have even seen some of his ESPN colleagues criticise him for the manner in which he has handled his frustrations. The public figure has a huge online following and he has used that to call out the University of Utah.
One ESPN colleague in particular has taken to her social media platform to hit back at McAfee suggesting that he needs to grow some thicker skin.
Earlier in the week, McAfee shared some of the direct messages he had been receiving since his visit to Utah Clearly, the messages he has received are not particularly nice but one of his ESPN colleagues has suggested that female sports reporters face worse.

Angelique S. Chengelis, Connor Earegood, John Niyo, and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Saturday's Michigan-Rutgers game at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey (12:30 p.m., Big Ten Network/94.7 FM).
▶ Angelique S. Chengelis: Rutgers coach Greg Schiano has always been tied to defense, but the Scarlet Knights have struggled defensively this season and ranks 128th in scoring. That could make this the "get-right" game for Michigan's offense, which is sorely in need of a confidence-building performance, especially from the run game and offensive line. Michigan's No. 3-ranked defense likely won't have the challenge it was expecting now that Rutgers QB Dylan Lonergan has been ruled out. He left last week's game at Northwestern in the first quarter because of a hit to the head and backup AJ Surace has struggled with six touchdowns against five interceptions this season. Michigan's defensive backs were expected to have their hands full facing 6-foot-6 receiver KJ Duff, but he is "doubtful" for the game, according to the Big Ten availability report. Pick: Michigan, 31-10
▶ Connor Earegood: Rejoice, Jason Beck. You're going to save your job this week. This Michigan offense may be wasting one of the nation's best defenses, but it will get an important tune-up against Rutgers. You know, the Rutgers team that lost to UMass, which is 1-3 in Mid-American Conference play. Oh, Rutgahs. Its availability report suggests some key starters will not play. Its starting QB is hurt, its star receiver is doubtful. A one-read quarterback could probably pick its defense apart at full strength. That's a good opponent for a true freshman in Tommy Carr to face in his second career start, after the **** er of the unknown wore off last week and showed you that maybe, just maybe, it isn't the guy under center who's the problem but rather the guy calling his plays. If Beck takes some inspiration from the Michigan Stadium videoboard and runs the ball between the tackles from time to time, Michigan should roll to an easy win. If it's another stinker, it will make for an interesting crowd in next week's rivalry game. Pick: Michigan, 34-7
▶ John Niyo: If Rutgers can't cure Michigan's offensive woes, nothing will. Greg Schiano's days appear numbered in Piscataway, and the statistical numbers make it obvious why: Rutgers ranks 128th nationally in scoring defense and has given up 161 points in four Big Ten games thus far. Of course, that's more points than the Wolverines have scored in seven games this season. But this defense should be the cure Michigan's inefficient run game needs, and no matter who's playing quarterback, there'll be opportunities to create explosive plays in the pass game. In four Big Ten games, Rutgers already has given up 15 plays of 30-plus yards. Pick: Michigan, 34-16
▶ Bob Wojnowski: There's no such thing as a breather for the Wolverines, with six of their seven games decided on the final possession. Last week's OT loss to Indiana wa

Braves make no-brainer $24M Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies decision to keep core intact for 2027 originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Atlanta Braves have another important offseason ahead of them and need to navigate it correctly, as there are still several areas where the team needs to improve. Not only will they have free agency decisions to make, but they will also need to determine which players to bring back before allowing others to test the market.
Atlanta didn't end the season the way it wanted to, losing two consecutive home games to the Los Angeles Dodgers. One of the players who had the toughest time was Ronald Acuña Jr., who was booed by fans. Despite all of that, he made it clear that he wanted to stay in Atlanta.
"I want to stay here, that hasn't changed. But I can't control that," Acuña told the media.
The futures of Ozzie Albies and Acuña are in the Braves' hands, as the team recently had to make decisions on both players. Each had a club option for 2027, and Sports Illustrated's Harrison Smajovits believed exercising them should be an easy decision for Atlanta.

Collin ***** ton has already made his mark on the Los Angeles Lakers in just four games with them this season. He's averaging 12 points in 17.8 minutes a game this season, but his impact has gone beyond his numbers.
He has been an igniter for them off the bench thanks to his ability to get buckets, handle the ball, create pace and get others involved. He has also sparked them defensively with his relentless pressure on the ball and his willingness to shadow opposing ball-handlers up and down the court. The guard has helped force turnovers, even when he hasn't been credited with a steal.
Coach JJ Redick said after Sunday's 132-123 win over the Utah Jazz that ***** ton has a "level of insanity" to him that helps the team. ***** ton explained after Wednesday's 16-point victory over the Los Angeles Clippers that he takes on a special mindset when he is on the court.
"Honestly, I would say when I step into one of those lines, it's us against them," ***** ton said. "I'm going to be doing whatever my team needs. For me, I feel like I turn into a different person when it's time to go. And I think my teammates know that. So they try to talk to me a little bit, but they know I'm in the zone and ready to go to war. And that's how I look at it. Whenever I step into those lines, it's wartime."
Off the court, ***** ton seems like an easy-going man who radiates a positive attitude of gratitude. On the court, he is ultra-aggressive, and that type of on-court attitude can be very contagious. This season's Lakers roster boasts several players who have a can-do spirit and seem willing to embrace their specific roles for the good of the team.

The Golden State Warriors seem to have landed a gem with the No. 11 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Yaxel Lendeborg has put his name among some of the greatest rookies of all-time with his first-week performance.
After an 0-3 start, the Warriors have won back-to-back games and Lendeborg has filled his role tremendously.
Yes, he's playing alongside a guy named Stephen Curry, who's been unstoppable the past two games − his 44-point night following a perfect shooting night. Still, Curry can't do it alone and with injuries to Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody, Golden State needs players to step up. Lendeborg has so far.
The 24-year-old rookie has averaged 22.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 4.0 ***** ists over his first five games.

WATERBURY - Holy Cross High football senior star wide receiver Dae'Sean Graves will need to wait at least one more week to claim his second state record of the season.
Graves caught five passes for 113 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown, in Holy Cross' 56-8 win over WCA on Thursday night at Ray Snyder Sr. Field. The Crusaders improved to 6-1 with their sixth straight win, while the Spartans fell to 1-6.
Graves' touchdown added to his state record. He has 52 touchdown receptions for his career. The UConn commit tied and broke Southington great Alex Jamele's career record for touchdown receptions last week in a 52-13 win at Crosby.
Graves needs five more catches at Woodland on Friday, Nov. 6 (6:30 p.m.) to tie East Catholic great Joey Montalvo's career receptions record of 226. Six catches will give Graves the state record. He didn't play in the second half of Thursday's game.
Graves will need several more games to break Montalvo's career receiving-yards record of 3,871. He is 529 yards away from tying the mark.

Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka among players included in latest injury report before Falcons game appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is showing signs of progress in his recovery, although his status for Sunday's Week 8 clash with the Atlanta Falcons remains up in the air.
Egbuka was a limited participant in Thursday's practice as he continued to work through the NFL's concussion protocol. One encouraging sign was his return to a regular practice jersey after previously wearing a non-contact one. The development suggests he is making progress, though he still needs medical clearance before returning to game action.
The rookie has been out since sustaining a concussion and a foot injury in the Buccaneers' Week 6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. During the fourth quarter, Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen delivered a hit that brought his shoulder into Egbuka's helmet as the receiver tried to make a play on an incomplete pass. The injuries forced him to sit out Tampa Bay's Week 7 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Ferrari had a perfectly good explanation for Austin qualifying ready before the cars were back in the garage: the straights. Lewis Hamilton said rivals keep accelerating where the Ferrari lifts, and he put the Red Bull Ford power unit's advantage at roughly three to four tenths a lap, while admitting he hadn't seen the data that weekend. It is a tidy story. It is also only half of what the official timing sheet says.
Here is the awkward detail: Charles Leclerc's quickest lap of the weekend came in Q2, not Q3. He went 1:34.198 to top the second session, then 1:34.267 in the shootout. Had he simply repeated the Q2 lap, it would have been quicker than every Q3 time except Kimi Antonelli's pole lap of 1:34.035. A straight-line deficit doesn't switch on between sessions, so something else changed in Q3.
Lining up each driver's Q2 and Q3 laps is revealing. Hamilton found 0.522s between sessions and still ended up fifth, 0.276s off pole. Isack Hadjar found 0.637s. Max Verstappen found 0.257s and Antonelli 0.243s. Leclerc found nothing; he went backwards by 0.069s and finished fourth, 0.232s adrift.
Leclerc's own explanation was the track cooling down and the tyres not coming up to temperature cleanly in Q3. Fred Vasseur said Ferrari was in the pole fight until the final corner. Those aren't the words of a team that was out-powered by half a second down the straights. They describe a team that left time in the final sector on a one-lap run where the window for the tyres is narrow.
To be clear, Hamilton's straight-line complaint can be true at the same time. A car that gives away a few tenths in a straight line needs everything else to be perfect on a qualifying lap, and Ferrari's margin for a slightly cold tyre is thinner than it looks. That is my read, not something either driver said, but it fits the numbers: Ferrari looked like pole contenders in Q2 and a fraction short in Q3 because the margin vanished the moment the tyres weren't ideal.

Layne Riggs remained firmly in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship contention Friday, finishing eighth in the Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway. The Front Row Motorsports driver started ninth, led six laps and competed near the front throughout much of the afternoon. Riggs demonstrated impressive speed early, finishing fifth in Stage 1 before improving to second in Stage 2.
His No. 34 Ford continued running among the leaders during the final stage, allowing him to challenge Kaden Honeycutt and several other championship contenders. Riggs appeared positioned for a potential victory when he restarted on the outside of the front row alongside Sammy Smith in overtime.
He received a push from Honeycutt, but the outside lane struggled to maintain momentum against the inside line. As Ty Majeski moved ahead of Riggs, Honeycutt eventually found an opportunity to pass his championship rival. Riggs slipped backward during the final-lap battle and finished eighth, earning 44 points through his finishing position and stage performances.
He remains second in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Chase standings with 2,328 points. However, Riggs now trails Honeycutt by 43 points with only Martinsville and Homestead-Miami remaining. Riggs will need to outscore his rival significantly to keep his championship hopes alive.

Kim Kardashian is dealing with a health issue that "really hits home."
During the Thursday, October 29, episode of The Kardashians, the 46-year-old reality star revealed that she needs surgery to address "irregularities" in her esophagus following her esophagitis diagnosis.
"So I've seen a couple of doctors, and it's been heavy on my mind lately," Kim said in the confessional, according to People. "I haven't really told too many people about this, just because I think it's something that really hits home for me and I just don't really wanna go there."
Kim's father, Robert Kardashian, died of esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.
"With my dad having passed away from esophagus cancer, hopefully I can just take medication and this will go away," Kim continued.

Just one third (36%) of the nation's wealthiest citizens — those with at least $1 million in investable ***** ets — consider themselves wealthy, according to Northwestern Mutual's 2025 Planning and Progress study.
Further, nearly half (49%) of American millionaires say their financial planning needs improvement, citing the possibility of outliving their savings, the impact of taxes in retirement, and potential long-term care needs as their top financial concerns.
This gap may be surprising, but it highlights how rising costs, longer lifespans, and shifting expectations have redefined what it means to feel rich in modern America.

Texas A&M took care of business in Week 7, earning its second shutout win of the season after defeating The Citadel 41-0 behind 264 rushing yards and three touchdowns from sophomore RB Jamarion Morrow. With freshman back KJ Edwards adding 116 rushing yards, the Aggie offense needs to keep a "ground and pound" approach, especially if redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed remains the starter.
On defense, Texas A&M didn't have to do much, as the Bulldogs barely attempted to throw the ball, running 47 times for 140 yards, resulting in a one-dimensional attack that didn't require defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill to scheme up pressure, just needing to stop the run and tackle in ******* e, which was accomplished.
The SEC experienced its most chaotic week in what feels like a decade-plus, as No. 1 Georgia, No. 7 Texas, and Texas A&M's next opponent, Alabama, lost at home and on the road, resulting in a seismic shift in the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25.
As I stated above, Texas A&M will head to Tuscaloosa for the first time since the 2022 season to face Alabama, and after an impressive start to the year against bad defenses, sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell has passed for just 185 yards against Georgia (loss) and 147 yards and an interception during Saturday's loss at Tennessee.
Still, expectations are that the former five-star prospect will rebound at home against Texas A&M's respectable but beatable defense, especially given the Aggies' pass-rush issues. The Aggies enter the week as 15.5-point underdogs, and ESPN FPI gives Texas A&M a 16.5% chance to defeat Alabama (83.5%).

Bengaluru: For Tilak Varma, the number next to his name on the team sheet matters far less than the one on the scoreboard at the end of the match.
The India T20I vice-captain has seen his role evolve considerably in recent months, moving from the top order to the finisher's role as the team continues to fine-tune its combinations. While adapting to different batting positions is rarely straightforward, the 23-year-old has embraced the challenge and put the team's needs ahead of personal preference.
Having begun his T20I career near the top of the order, Tilak now often finds himself walking in at No. 5 or 6. With Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opening, Ishan Kishan firmly established at No. 3 and skipper Shreyas Iyer occupying the next slot, opportunities higher up the order have become limited.
Rather than viewing it as a setback, Tilak sees it as another responsibility to master.
"Ishan is batting brilliantly at No. 3. So, for me, there is no option but to bat at 5 and 6 and do the job for the team. I am mentally prepared for that role and in the last few games, I have won matches from there. So, I am pretty confident," Tilak said after the rain-hit series decider against the West Indies in Bengaluru on Saturday.
The left-hander admitted that the transition from a top-order batter to a finisher has not been without its challenges.
"It's not easy to change from No. 3 to No. 5 or 6. It is slightly challenging. But I have been working on how I can finish games, and I love finishing games for the country," he said.
The demands of batting in the lower middle order are vastly different from those of a top-order role. There is little time to settle in, and the emphasis is on making an immediate impact rather than constructing an innings. Tilak said he has consciously altered his preparation to meet those demands.
"I have been working on it in the nets. Otherwise, it becomes tough. When you go in as a finisher and a slower ball comes into your arc, you need to be ready to hit it for six. In T20 cricket, if you bat at No. 5 or 6, you generally get only five or six overs, so I have had to change my approach."
Fortunately for Tilak, batting down the order is not entirely new territory.
"I batted lower down the order in my childhood as well. I have shots all around the ground and I am confident in my ability to adapt. Whether it is No. 3 or No. 5, I believe I have the technique to fit into any role for the team if I prepare well," he said.

Packers' Jordan Love highlights what offense needs to reach its full potential appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers have had some ups and downs this season. More recently, it's been more ups than downs. Jordan Love and the Packers picked up a big win on Sunday Night Football over the Dallas Cowboys. However, even this win wasn't without some pain points.
The Packers offense has been under some real scrutiny this season. Green Bay has had some big moments offensively. In other times, though, they've looked either sluggish at best or straight bad at worst. After Sunday's win, Love spoke about what needs to happen for this offense to find consistent success.
"I still think there's so much more out there for us as an offense, and once we get that run game really going and solidified, it'll help a lot of areas," the Green Bay signal-caller said, via Packer Dispatch writer Zach Jacobson.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye completed 18 of 32 passes for 235 yards with three touchdowns in a Week 6 win over the New York Jets. He added 24 yards on four rushing attempts.
SOURCE: USA TODAY
Why It Matters: Maye now has 10 touchdown passes against one interception with 878 yards in the last three games. He had one TD pass and six picks in the first three games. It's safe to say that Maye has regained his status as a QB1 and is looking like the quarterback who led the Patriots to the Super Bowl last season. He needs to be locked into lineups in Week 7, even on a short week with a visit to Chicago coming on Thursday.

Calls for Mike McDaniels' job are only getting louder.
This time, though, Jim Harbaugh wasn't as strong in his defense of his offensive coordinator.
Harbaugh, after the Los Angeles Chargers fell 22-6 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, said that they are going to "have to address everything, and especially offensively." The loss knocked them to 0-6 on the season, which marks their worst start since 2000. Coincidentally, Harbaugh was on that Chargers team as a player that finished 1-15 that season.
And when asked about McDaniel directly and if he was going to keep calling plays, Harbaugh said they were "going to look at everything."
"The job I'm doing, it starts with me. We'll watch this and get with our offensive coaches," Harbaugh said, via ESPN. "I see the effort, I see the work being put in in the meetings, on the practice field, and to get that to translate to the field is what's necessary. Feel bad for our players, our team, our coaches, our fans. And [offense] needs to be addressed."

Marco Sturm is giving the Boston Bruins' younger players a chance to prove themselves, and Matt Poitras is taking full advantage of it.
Poitras signed a one-year, two-way deal on the day training camp opened, and one day later told reporters that he needs to "prove to everybody that I can be in the lineup every night." It was not all smooth sailing, though. He suffered a lower-body injury during training camp and missed the first three regular-season games before playing in the last six.
Ahead of his first game, Sturm said he was looking to "see [Poitras'] strengths, and I think just being smart, and skate." Six games later, Sturm is happy with what he's seen out of the 22-year-old center.
"Yeah, he's been solid, and that's all I'm asking for," Sturm said of Poitras after Saturday's game in Los Angeles. "I'm not asking for big points and goals, whatever. No, I want him to just do [his] job, and the rest will come automatically."
In his first five games of the season, Poitras centered the fourth line. He skated alongside Tanner Jeannot and Mark Kastelic, but with Pavel Zacha sidelined by an upper-body injury, Poitras moved into a top-six role.

A TikTok video posted by ciearratati, which has amassed close to 815,000 views and 3,364 comments, describes a woman's preference for high-maintenance friendships. She explained that she believes real friendships are supposed to involve that level of closeness. Ciearra said her friends' needs and concerns are never too much for her to handle, and she would much rather have close, familiar friendships than distant ones.
Ciearra began by saying that once she considers someone a friend, they're never too high-maintenance for her because she will make time for them if they need to talk or video chat. Even if she just met someone the day before and they want to see her again, she doesn't mind because, in her view, that's what friends are for.
She said, "No, you're not acting like I'm your boyfriend. No, it's not too high-maintenance. No, I don't feel like you're smothering me." Ciearra continued by explaining that this level of closeness is exactly what she wants in a friendship because she thrives on the connection she has with the people she considers friends.
She explained, "This is literally what I want. I literally want to do life with human beings." She went on to say that she doesn't consider a friendship one where you barely see each other throughout the year. Instead, she believes real friends should naturally see each other more often, and she said she actually looks forward to spending time with her friends.
Ciearra stated, "No, I don't want to see you every quarter of the year. I wanna see you way more than that, actually. Why are we doing quarterly meetings? What is this, a business or a friendship?" Ciearra believes many people view real friendships as "high-maintenance" because they are used to giving and accepting the bare minimum.

Khaby Lame turned a simple comedy concept into a global creator business. The Senegalese-born Italian star built his following by silently mocking complicated life-hack videos. His signature facial expressions and palms-up gesture became instantly recognizable. Lame has more than 160 million TikTok followers and was ranked among the world's highest-earning creators in 2025. Forbes estimated his earnings at $20 million that year. But what is Khaby Lame's net worth?
Lame's rise started after he lost his factory job during Italy's COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. TikTok gave him an audience, but brand partnerships turned that attention into money. Forbes Africa further reports that Lame has worked with brands including Hugo Boss, Airbnb and Binance. His business now stretches beyond TikTok, making Khaby Lame's net worth a bigger creator-economy story.
Yes, but the $975 million headline needs context. In January 2026, Rich Sparkle Holdings announced its acquisition of Step Distinctive Limited, a company tied to Lame's brand. According to Forbes Africa, Lame owned 49% of Step Distinctive before the transaction.
The deal involved Rich Sparkle shares rather than a straightforward cash payment. Forbes Africa also reported that Lame's stake reached a paper value of $6.6 billion when Rich Sparkle's stock surged.
That figure did not mean Lame suddenly had $6.6 billion in cash. Forbes also raised concerns about Rich Sparkle's small public float and the difficulty of using its stock price to measure Lame's actual wealth.

Princess Eugenie's close ties with Meghan Markle have reportedly raised concerns that she could potentially be a "double agent." The daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson is known to be close to both the Waleses and the Sussexes. Hence, sources claim that some palace insiders believe she cannot keep one foot in both camps and may eventually have to choose a side.
Princess Eugenie may need to decide whether she is on Meghan Markle's side or not. The 36-year-old shares a good bond with Meghan and Prince Harry, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton. Now that Meghan and Harry are back in Britain for an extended stay, people are eager to see how their bond with Eugenie develops.
However, a source told Woman's Day that Meghan and Eugenie haven't seen much of each other recently. The reason, according to the source, is that both women are extremely busy. However, the source noted that it could also be a conscious decision on Eugenie's part. They reportedly believe that she may want to distance herself from Meghan.
After the large-scale controversy last year, Eugenie's parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, were asked to leave the Royal Lodge. In fact, Andrew was even stripped of his ****** les. However, the ****** les of Eugenie and Princess Beatrice remained intact. Keeping that in mind, the source said that the growing consensus is that Eugenie wants to maintain friendly ties with the royals. If she is seen spending too much time with Meghan, it may not be a good look for her.
The source continued that palace insiders feel she "can't continue to have the best of both worlds." The insider added, "If she wants to stay on decent terms with the likes of William and Kate then she can't be seen as this double agent type of figure." Hence, they believe that she now needs to pick a side.

WASHINGTON — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers appears to be breaking with President Donald Trump on another key issue less than a month before Election Day.
"Drinking a Labatt and watching the Red Wings, man, it just doesn't get any more Michigan than that," Rogers said in a new ad released Oct. 7. "Here in Michigan, we know that Canada is not our enemy. We need to end this tariff war now."
The statement marks the second time in recent weeks that Rogers spoke out — without criticizing Trump by name — against one of the president's unpopular initiatives. This time, Rogers is calling for an end to Trump's widespread trade war against Canada, America's second-biggest trading partner, while drinking a Canadian beer that's banned from import under the president's latest trade restrictions.
The Republican Senate nominee also split with Trump on the Iran war in late September, saying it "needs to end and end quickly."
Rogers' public shift on tariffs comes amid mounting opposition in Michigan to Trump's tariffs and GOP concerns that voters will reject their candidates up and down the ballot for failing to address cost-of-living concerns. Election Day is Nov. 3, though more than 200,000 Michiganians have already cast absentee ballots.

Elon Musk's net worth once again topped the $1 trillion mark this week—and few people have had a closer look at the forces behind his success than his former deputy Linda Yaccarino.
The 30-year media veteran was tapped as CEO of then-Twitter in 2023, stepping in as Musk was remaking the social platform from the ground up, and she got a firsthand look at the philosophy driving his companies, from Tesla to **** eX: Move fast, rethink everything, and don't wait for tomorrow.
"The reason his companies are singular in what they deliver is because of the insatiable sense of urgency. There's not a deadline for a project or to ship something, a product—it's now," Yaccarino told Fortune.
That mindset, she said, changes how you approach virtually any challenge. Rather than simply working toward a deadline, it forces you to strip a project down to its most essential pieces and figure out what actually needs to happen to succeed.
"A lot of people talk about first principles, but that's what it forces you to do," Yaccarino added.

Deciding how much to withdraw from your retirement accounts means finding a balance between enjoying life and making your money last. Taking too little leaves you with unused savings, while taking too much risks running out of money later. Taxes also affect how much you can actually spend. To help you create a retirement budget, let's break down the example of a 67-year-old with $870,000 in a 401(k), $120,000 in an IRA and $26,400 annually from Social Security. Here's what a withdrawal plan could look based on two rates.
A financial advisor can help you create a withdrawal strategy that balances your lifestyle needs, tax impacts and long-term retirement goals.
A 401(k) and a traditional IRA are both retirement accounts funded with pre-tax dollars. Contributions are deducted from your taxable income, allowing you to grow savings faster because the money enters the account before taxes. In retirement, however, all withdrawals are taxed as ordinary income. This includes both the money you contributed and the investment earnings.
This is different from a Roth IRA, which is funded with after-tax dollars. You do not receive an upfront tax deduction for contributions. The benefit comes later: withdrawals in retirement are tax-free, including both contributions and earnings.

Following Paris Fashion Week, where Rosalía was spotted front row at Dior and served up several street-style moments, the singer was back in New York, just weeks after wrapping her Lux Tour.
TheStewartofNY/GC Images
I'm sure this Erdem Spring 2027 dress needs no introduction after Sienna Miller and Troye Sivan wore similar versions to the War New York premiere and the VMAs, respectively.
What you will immediately notice is that, like Sienna's, Rosalía's dress fits closer to the body than the version we saw on the runway. I prefer this fit, as the shape feels better defined.
What I find most intriguing is how naturally this look connects to her Lux Tour wardrobe. The soft peach satin, corsage and sweeping feathers have a romantic quality that fits naturally alongside the more dramatic pieces she wore on stage, even though this is a street-style look rather than a performance costume. It also continues the ballet-inspired thread we saw with her Yasmina Atta look in June.

There's zero chance that Halle Berry and ex-husband Olivier Martinez will reach a compromise amid their battle over 13-year-old son Maceo, a source tells Star.
"The hatred between these two is off the charts," reveals the source. "There's years and years of ugly history."
On Thursday, October 1, People reported that the Unfaithful actor, 60, was granted a temporary restraining order against the Oscar-winning actress, 60, as well as modified visitation after he accused her of physically abusing Maceo.
"Olivier's accusing Halle of being dangerous and saying he needs to protect their son from her, which is something she vehemently denies," reveals the source. "She's furious and says all Olivier is doing is trying to alienate her son from her."
In documents obtained by Star, the Monster's Ball actress asked that their former custody agreement, which grants her 50/50 custody and tie-breaking authority, be reinstated and that Martinez be forced to attend court-ordered therapy sessions.

Henry Phipps built Bessemer Trust in 1907 to professionally manage irrevocable trusts for his five children, and this structure is one that estate lawyers still replicate today.
The 2026 GST exemption hits $15 million per person, letting dynasty trust ******* ets skip transfer taxes across grandchildren and beyond.
Trusts hit the 37% federal tax rate on retained income above just $16,000, compared to $640,600 for individual filers, which makes professional trustees essential.
Building a portfolio and living off one are two completely different skills, and almost ******* ody teaches the second. This problem is what The Definitive Guide to Retirement Income helps, and it is free today. Read more here. (Sponsor)
Henry Phipps co-founded Carnegie Steel with Andrew Carnegie, then spent decades deciding what to do with the money. In 1907, he formed Bessemer Trust as a family office with a staff devoted solely to his family's affairs, and he set up trusts for his five children. The trusts came with professionals hired to run them, and that's the part worth studying. An estate lawyer can still build a modern version, usually called a dynasty trust. Whether a family needs one depends mostly on the size of its estate.
