"OVER-RATED!" We've all heard the chant from the college football student sections as they look to heckle a visiting player or team. Sometimes, it's simply inaccurate and only serves to motivate the party in question, but other times, it's just correct.
Whether it be prior performance, name recognition, or splashy offseason "gets," some teams end up with a much higher public perception than their actual ability level, and end up, dare we say, overrated.
Here are the top-4 overrated teams heading into the 2026 season. Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.

Texas A&M's 2026 season opener vs. Missouri State is just two weeks away, and after 11 preseason practices, the Aggies' revamped roster, including 17 transfer portal additions, will replace 15 outgoing starters and over 20 offseason departures, which, on paper, looks like a rebuild to the naked eye.
However, among the 15 starters who have left the program, quarterback Marcel Reed, who is entering his second full starting season, is well equipped to match his career-high 3,169 passing yards and 25 touchdowns last season, but needs to cut down on his turnover issues after throwing 12 interceptions, which was also a career high.
Reed's numbers were nearly identical to Texas starting quarterback Arch Manning last season, but the national perception that the Aggie signal caller has not improved as a passer, despite his 2025 numbers, was on full display in the SEC Coaches All-SEC Football Team, as Reed failed to make the first, second, or third teams.
Still, the Tennessee native is completely focused on proving the rest of his doubters wrong, starting with Missouri State, who just announced its starting quarterback for the season opener on Sept. 5, as senior Skyler Locklear will return under center after passing for 1,418 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions during the 2025 season.
Texas A&M's defense, which now includes Northwestern transfer Edge Anto Saka and one of the deepest secondaries in the country, will have its hands full against Locklear and the rest of the Missouri State offense, hoping to score early to have any shot at keeping things close after halftime. This will be Skyler Locklear's first season with the program after transferring from UTEP.

When it was revealed on Tuesday that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) had actually sold about 38% of Liverpool to 1892 Holdings, there was certainly an element of confusion.
On Friday, the understanding was that the Jeff Bezos-backed consortium had purchased about a third of Liverpool, and BBC Sport was informed that speculation placing the investment in the range of approximately 30% to one-third was "directionally accurate".
So why was a different figure reported just four days later?
FSG's policy is not to publicly disclose precise ownership stakes, but with numbers circulating from various outlets before the official announcement on Friday, the Boston-based conglomerate was keen to give some sense of scale and indicate that what was being reported was in the right territory, rather than simply referring to it as a 'minority investment'.
When it was confirmed the minority stake purchased was closer to 40% there was a perception that the club were downplaying the investment.

Nevertheless, Beverley believes that media narratives played a big role in the generally negative public perception of Westbrook, which forced the future Hall of Famer to call it quits instead. "I'm going to be honest. I felt like he had a lot of game left. I feel like he played really well last season. I think the media killed his game. I'm going to be honest. I think the media is so strong that it allowed fans to call him names and have opinions about his game, which also forced team owners, GMs, and presidents to look at him a certain way," Beverley said on the newest episode of his The Pat Bev Show.

Reggie Morris Jr. won't just remember the way Russell Westbrook changed basketball. Even after Westbrook's retirement, his former high school coach chooses to see the way the former Lawndale Leuzinger star is changing the city that raised him. That's even more important than the NBA record 209 triple-doubles. "I believe that his impact on this community," Morris said, "is far greater than his basketball impact." — 8/18/2026 Los Angeles Times
Even during the season, Westbrook made himself available to players on his EYBL teams as often as possible, visiting between playoff runs or at least supporting them through social media. "They feel his presence when he's there, and he's hands-on in the situation," Morris said. "He's not just giving money; he's trying to help the kids, give them a different aspect or a different take on what he knows and give it back to them." — 8/18/2026 Los Angeles Times
"He didn't back down from anybody," said Morris, now the director of Westbrook's Team Why Not EYBL team and the boys' basketball head coach at Redondo Union. "He was fearless. He was relentless. There's never really been a player quite like him. I would say he kind of has, like, a Charles Barkley, a young Charles Barkley spirit, where he was just passionate and fiery. He wasn't PC. He wore his emotions on his sleeves, and he didn't really apologize to anyone for how he felt or what he was there to do." — 8/18/2026 Los Angeles Times

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In the past few recruiting cycles, Michigan football has managed to get some higher-caliber wide receiver talent. But it's been a lot of selling something that hasn't exactly been working -- at least not to the level that most top-flight pass catchers gravitate toward.
Last season, the Wolverines had the 107th passing offense, and it was 131st the year before. Even in the three-year College Football Playoff run, the pass game wasn't exactly electric -- it was 82nd in 2023 (the national championship year), 83rd the year before, and, oddly, 68th with Cade McNamara at the helm in 2021.
Now, with Bryce Underwood at quarterback, the former top player in the country, Kyle Whittingham and company want to change the perception of what the maize and blue are capable of through the air. Wide receivers coach Micah Simon discussed how he and offensive coordinator Jason Beck have produced results, and that their past is something they're using to appeal to recruits who are interested in the Wolverines but are perhaps reluctant to pull the trigger.
"We're always going to play to our strengths," Simon said. "That's the No. 1 thing when you create explosive offenses. Whatever we feel the strength of our team is, that's what we're going to play to.
"A couple years ago in New Mexico, we were actually a little more balanced than people might remember. We had a 1,000-yard rusher at running back, a 1,000-yard rusher at quarterback. He also threw for almost 3,000. Had a couple wideouts that were pushing 900 and 800 yards each. So we were super balanced that year. Last year at the other place, a little more run-heavy. But when you have five senior O-linemen and two first-round-pick tackles that's what you're going to lean into.

The Arizona Cardinals aren't expected to be very good in 2026. However, after the start of the preseason, perhaps they won't be quite as bad as people have believed.
While they are projected to have the lowest win total in the NFL, in new preseason power rankings from NFL.com, they aren't at the bottom of the league.
Surprisingly, they are ranked 26th.
Once you're done sipping the Carson Beck Kool-Aid (I know, it really is refreshing), come take a seat with me and consider where the Cardinals are right now. They're entering 2026 with a veteran bridge quarterback, another respected backup behind him and a rookie who turned heads in the Hall of Fame Game. While it carries a lower ceiling, that scenario suddenly doesn't sound too bad, especially when considering the weaponry Arizona has ***** embled: newly minted Madden NFL 99 Club member Trey McBride, No. 3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love, former No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr. and 1,000-yard receiver Michael Wilson. Not bad! Much of the Cards' success will depend on whether they can protect Jacoby Brissett and if they can consistently get stops defensively. But despite this No. 26 ranking, I'm shifting toward a sunnier outlook with this team.
Now, ranking 26th isn't exactly good. However, when the perception has been that they will be the worst team in the league and now they are ahead of six, it is a start.

PHOENIX — Just a week ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers fought back against the belief that they automatically wrapped up their third consecutive World Series championship at the trade deadline with the acquisition of Tarik Skubal.
These days, the Dodgers are battling the idea that they're suddenly an old, broken-down team that will have to fight for its lives just to win the NL West.
Funny what eight losses in nine games, including 15 of the last 24, can do to your perception.
"There's no concern in here," Dodgers veteran All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman said Sunday after the Dodgers' 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. "We're a good team."
Any more questions?

In the Q2 2026 investor letter from Gator Capital Management, the firm reported strong absolute performance across its funds, demonstrating notable outperformance relative to the Financials sector, even though it slightly lagged the broader market. The funds' investments in small and mid-cap Financials continued to outperform the largest banks and insurance companies during this quarter. Gator Financial Partners, LLC achieved a return of 14.82%, Gator Offshore Partners, Ltd returned 14.58%, and Gator Qualified Partners, LLC saw a gain of 13.98%. In comparison, the S&P 500 Total Return Index gained 15.20%, and the S&P 1500 Financials Index returned 9.36%. The letter also highlights an investment thesis regarding Navient Corporation, emphasizing that, despite being viewed as a declining servicer of legacy student loans, Navient is well-positioned for future growth. Please review the Funds' top five holdings to gain insights into their key selections for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Gator Capital Management highlighted Navient Corporation (NASDAQ:NAVI). The firm shared its investment thesis on Navient Corporation (NASDAQ:NAVI), a US-based technology-enabled education finance for education company. On August 4, 2026, Navient Corporation (NASDAQ:NAVI) closed at $9.36 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $879.74 million. Navient Corporation (NASDAQ:NAVI) posted a one-month return of 15.84%, while its shares lost 24.82% over the past 52 weeks.
Gator Capital Management stated the following regarding Navient Corporation (NASDAQ:NAVI) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Navient Corporation (NASDAQ:NAVI) trades at roughly 40% of tangible book value as investors continue to view it as a runoff portfolio of legacy student loans, in other words, a melting ice cube. We believe that Navient is becoming a growth lender again, and investor perception will shift in time. The private student lending market is entering its first meaningful expansion in more than fifteen years, an activist investor has completed a major restructuring of the company, and early evidence suggests Navient's loan portfolio may be returning to growth for the first time in years.
To understand the opportunity in Navient's stock, we believe it is important to understand some of the dynamics and history of the student lending industry. Since there are only three publicly traded companies focused on the student lending industry and their combined market cap is only $10 billion, the vast majority of investors are not knowledgeable on the subject…" (Click here to read the full text)

Ruben Dias says former City captain Bernardo Silva is the most underrated footballer he's ever played with.
Men's Team
Bernardo spent nine seasons at City between 2017 and 2026, featuring in more games under Pep Guardiola than any other player throughout a period of historic success.
As a versatile midfielder who could be an effective threat on the wing or provide a solid foundation further back, Bernardo often came out near the top when it came to running stats too.
The Portuguese international was never undervalued by his team-mates, or the world's outstanding coach in Guardiola, but Dias feels the outside perception of him may not have been as laudatory as it could have been.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Iowa fans and fans across the country.
Big Ten Media Days wrapped up last week and with the annual trek to Chicago came the media projections for each and every team in the conference.
We noted in our rundown last week that Iowa had three pre-season All-Big Ten nominees in offensive linemen Kade Pieper and Trevor Lauck, as well as defensive back Zach Lutmer, who also garnered votes for defensive player of the year in the conference. They were joined by TE DJ Vonnahme, who earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten.
As for the team overall, they were picked to finish 8th in the conference according to the media.
But the media doesn't always know what they're talking about (unless, of course, they're fan media on ablog, then they are always right about everything) and when it comes to perception of the Iowa Hawkeyes, that can be especially true. So last week we asked the fanbase where they expect to see the Hawkeyes finish in the conference standings in 2026.

It's fantasy football draft season.
What a glorious sentence. Training camps are underway in earnest, preseason kicks off this week and the season will be here before you can spell "Kyle Juszczyk" (which takes me about 25 business days on average). Whether you've been following the beats all summer or are just now tuning back in, one of your best tools for taking the temperature of the fantasy football community is Average Draft Position, or ADP.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
But that ADP is subject to change — quite a lot — over the next month. So, as we hit the heart of mock drafts (and eventually real drafts) and these ADPs continue to shift, here are 10 players whose draft cost I'm watching closely.
The closer we get to September, the more ADP shifts away from the brainchild of degenerates and diehards — like me — and closer to the consensus of the average fantasy player. Oftentimes, that comes with a notable shift in perception on rookies. Running back Jeremiyah Love was drafted third overall out of Notre Dame and is the top rookie in fantasy ADP — a potentially game-changing talent. But the Cardinals entered training camp with a lot of question marks on offense and have raised even more with recent comments about James Conner and Tyler Allgeier. Historically speaking, Love's draft capital suggests he will be a workhorse, but a long look at Arizona's roster raises some red flags about efficiency and scoring chances. The breakdown of snaps and touches will likely remain something of a mystery until Week 1 (or beyond), so fantasy drafters will have to work off conjecture for now.

The world is still not ready for cyberattacks. Cities, hospitals, schools, businesses, and even the U.S. government continue to face mounting cybersecurity risks, with artificial intelligence (AI) making security issues far more complicated. After all, as Palo Alto Networks (PANW) notes, "AI enables threat actors to move from initial access to exfiltration in minutes, effortlessly bypassing traditional defenses."
In response, Microsoft (MSFT) recently unveiled its first cybersecurity AI model: MAI-Cyber-1-Flash. The company also introduced Project Perception, an AI-powered security platform designed to help organizations detect, ******* yze, and respond to cyber threats more quickly.

Opinion rankings are just that: opinion, but there are trends with these things, and when it comes to stadium rankings of college football programs, Ohio Stadium (affectionately known as the Horseshoe), where Ohio State plays, is generally ranked pretty highly. The architecture, the updates, the history, and how loud it gets on the banks of the Olentangy all play into the atmosphere and the perception of a stadium.
The latest of these stadium rankings comes from our mothership, USA TODAY, and a panel of four writers that ranked the top 25 college football stadiums. Some leaned into the visual appeal, some into how hard it is to play, and some into tradition, but in the end, ten staff members came up with a comprehensive 25-stadium list, and Ohio Stadium is very high on the list as you'll see below.
We go through the stadiums with the top ten first, from ten down to No. 1, then the rest of the top 25. This list will differ based on who makes it and from what part of the country it is penciled in from, but this is a more national one starting with No. 10.
What USA TODAY says:
"Florida fans singing Tom Petty's 'I Won't Back Down' before the fourth quarter might be a new tradition. It's also peak college football. The Swamp can roar with the best of them, even if the Gators haven't matched their glory years in recent seasons. Consider last season: Florida went 4-2 at home, including an upset of Texas, and 0-6 away."

Four years ago, when the Browns, Panthers, Falcons, and Saints entered a four-way competition for quarterback Deshaun Watson, Cleveland was the first team to which Watson said, "No thanks." A five-year, fully-guaranteed contract quickly changed his mind.
Still, there's been a lingering perception that Watson didn't really want to play for the Browns. Before too long, it seemed as if the Browns were counting the days until they could move on from Watson.
Will that change? On Friday, owner Jimmy Haslam kept the door open on Watson returning in 2027. On Saturday, Watson made his feelings for Cleveland clear.
"When I first got here, there was a lot of stuff going on, as the world knows," Watson told reporters. "But I don't have any bad feelings toward Cleveland. I love Cleveland. Me and my wife have our house on the east side, so we're here all the time. We were here this summer. If you ask around, I'm at pretty much all the restaurants, hanging out, so I haven't had a bad experience outside of different times in the stadium. I don't know why that narrative is out there that people think that I don't like Cleveland. My family and I have been enjoying our time here, if the opportunity shows up, we'll see where it goes."
The first step will be winning the starting job. The second step will be playing well enough to return. And the third step will be fending off any other teams that may want Watson, if he re-establishes himself as a high-level NFL starter.

After a break of several weeks, Real Madrid have recorded another success in the transfer market as they landed the Levante forward Carlos Espi after paying his release clause on Thursday. Furthermore, they continue to work towards the signing of Yan Diomande, while the operation for Rodri Hernandez is currently on hold.
Another operation they are working on and which can have significant implications for their team is that of the renewal of the winger Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian has been engaged in negotiations with the Merengue club for several months now, but the two parties have still not reached an agreement, with only a year left on his contract.
Now, Real Madrid are keen to bring this matter to its conclusion, and according to MARCA, they have already informed the player's entourage that their latest offer is the final one, and there will be no further negotiations. The winger will either accept this offer, or they will put him on the market this summer, to avoid losing him for free next year.
In case the Brazilian does not agree to a departure, the possibility of him being left on the bench could become much more real if the Merengues end up signing Yan Diomande, who can play on both wings.
Los Blancos' perception of the winger has not changed. They continue to consider him a key player for their team and also agree that he deserves a raise after the growth he has shown in the last few years. However, they are not willing to break the wage structure for any player, irrespective of how important he is.

The wide receiver position is absolutely loaded in both fantasy football and reality. It's so hard to put together any sort of position ranking list without feeling like you left someone off or slighted a really good player or two. And yet, I'm going to give it a shot for yet another season in this annual exercise … and I'll absolutely feel the aforementioned regret, shame, etc.
After pouring hours into charting a ton of the guys drafted the last few years for Reception Perception, I decided to sit down and rank the top-15 wide receivers who are currently 25 years old or younger heading into the 2026 NFL season (not including rookies).
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
Note: These are not simply fantasy rankings. Instead, this is how I view these guys as pure individual NFL players removed from the context of their situations. One player I did not include here was Travis Hunter, who is quite likely to play more cornerback than wide receiver this season (key distinction) for the Jaguars. As a wide receiver only, however, I'm a big fan and think he could compete for a top-10 spot if he got the developmental reps he needs.
Since he entered the league in 2023, Puka Nacua leads all wide receivers with 600 or more routes in yards, first downs and successful targets per route run. Every season he gets a little bit better, with 2025 being the year he added more vertical separation to his bag.

WEST LONG BRANCH -- Monmouth football had a new coach and almost an entirely new starting offense when they hit the practice field to embark on the 2026 season on Thursday, but the expectations haven't changed for the Hawks.
Despite losing the weapons that accounted for 73% of the production for the top offense in the country at the FCS level, Monmouth was chosen as the second team in the Coastal Athletic ****** ociation preseason rankings behind only the defending conference champion Rhode Island.
Most teams undergoing this level of change are not burdened with expectations, but it's a testament to the growth of the Monmouth program and the respect for the transition from formerly the longest-tenured coach in Division I to a longtime ****** istant that was a mastermind behind the Hawks' gaudy offensive production. Good or bad, the Hawks remain indifferent to outside ****** sments.
"You always want to focus on execution over expectations," first-year head coach Jeff Gallo said. "It'll come down to how well we execute what we do. That is what's important. Expectations are—it's all about how you execute. And we always say, we're performance over perception."
3 big takeaways from Monmouth football coaching change to Jeff Gallo

The story of the week became a much bigger story than it should have been because the 49ers deliberately delayed acknowledging that the Kyle Shanahan car accident had happened for 11 days. On Tuesday, Shanahan opted to correct the record as to the public record that placed blame on the other driver.
Via Matt Barrows of The Athletic, Lt. Nicolas Martinez of the Palo Alto police department confirmed that a mistake was made when entering the information into the database.
"I can confirm that Kyle Shanahan's statement that he provided is correct and that he was found at fault for the collision," Lt. Nicolas Martinez said in a statement. "There was a clerical error in the preparation of the report that was transmitted to the State database. We are in the process of correcting that error. It is the officer's discretion at the scene of the collision as to whether they issue a citation to either party. It is not uncommon for officers to elect to not issue a citation to either party involved in a collision. Neither party in this situation was provided preferential treatment."
That doesn't change the perception that Shanahan received preferential treatment, both as to the decision not to cite him and the extreme secrecy that applied until the 49ers were opening training camp and had no choice but to disclose it.
Regardless, the truth is finally coming out. The decision to keep it under wraps from July 14 until July 25 served only to make people wonder why it was handled that way. And it will still cause some to wonder whether the whole story has been shared.

Quarterback play is always paramount in modern college football, as opposed to past decades when the running game mattered most in the sport. This is true in the Big Ten. Fernando Mendoza, the starting quarterback for the **** le-winning Indiana Hoosiers last season, was picked No. 1 in this past NFL draft. This upcoming season, the best quarterbacks in college football reside in the Big Ten. Whoever comes out on top in the Big Ten will have a quarterback who proved to be the best in college football.
Here is my ranking of the top five quarterbacks in the Big Ten:
Dante Moore shone last season, and just like last year, he was in conversations for being the best quarterback in college football. Moore threw for 2733 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. He is dangerous in the pocket and an underrated athlete. Last year, he made the most of having great weapons and a great run game, helping lead Oregon's prolific offense to a college football playoff berth. This season, he enters with more continuity and a deeper set of weapons at each of the skill positions. I expect Moore to have a big season and end the year off being the undisputed #1 overall pick just like Fernando Mendoza.
Sayin's season last year was incredible, and he was extremely efficient. He had all the resources to be in that position with weapons, Jeremiah Smith, and Carnell Tate, but he still maximized his opportunity as a freshman starter. He ended the year with 3323 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. The connection he has with Jeremiah Smith is already a proven one, and he showed he can run the offense even better than Will Howard did the year prior. However, as expected from most freshmen, under the bright lights, he did fall short in the College Football Playoff vs the Miami Hurricanes and in the Big Ten championship vs the Indiana Hoosiers. Although his season was special, he still has more room to grow. If he takes that next step, the Ohio State Buckeyes will have another national **** le trophy in their case.
Jayden Maiava still does not get the credit he deserves for how good he truly was last season. In his first season as a starting quarterback, he led the Trojans' offense to being a top unit in the country. Lincoln Riley's offense was dangerous and high scoring because of how good and confident Maiava was last season. Maiava threw for 3431 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Maiava is a gun slinger, and he takes a lot of shots, but playing more under control would do wonders for his perception and draft stock. If he can have a similar season, with fewer interceptions and showcase his running ability more, there is reason to believe he can be one of the first quarterbacks taken in this next draft. The success of the Trojans this year falls on Maiava's back, but I am confident he will take a step forward and not back in year 2.

CHICAGO – When the House settlement took effect last year, schools could directly share revenue with athletes with a cap in place. That limit doesn't include third-party NIL deals, though, and roster costs continue to increase in college football.
Speaking Tuesday at Big Ten Media Days, USC coach Lincoln Riley spoke in favor of a "true salary cap" in college sports. While he said the landscape is beginning to stabilize a bit, that would make things even better.
[ $19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage ]
Riley noted the discussions around the state of college sports as the NIL era continues to evolve. He doesn't see the craziness being as much of an issue as others on the outside, though. Instead, he argued things are getting better, though he said a salary cap would further help.
"I've always been one, like, I don't want to have less than somebody has," Riley told reporters at the Hilton Chicago. "But I don't necessarily have to have more. I just don't want to be at some massive, massive disadvantage, if you're trying to win a championship. I will say this, despite the perception outside, it has normalized a lot in the last few years.

The Dallas Cowboys held their annual press conference to start training camp on Tuesday, and the idea of the offseason being free of drama came up a lot at the beginning.
Jerry Jones noted that he liked that perception and then matters turned to what lies ahead instead of what is in the rearview mirror. In a very non-Jerry way, the team's owner, president, and general manager was expressing such confidence in the group set to start out in Oxnard by saying that he would be willing to risk future ****** ets in the name of helping them.
Obviously that is a hint that Jones could orchestrate a trade to help the Cowboys. In fact, he said that he specifically spoke to an NFL team about "something" on Monday. It is worth noting that on Monday it was reported that Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea requested a trade. That could just be coincidence, though.
As this conversation was going on, Jerry was asked why he and the team moved on from the Maxx Crosby situation after Crosby's trade from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens fell through. He thought long and hard and then was pretty pointed.
"We didn't. We did not walk away."

During a conversation with Turkey's Socrates Magazine, the 23-year-old was asked about some of the controversial narratives surrounding last season's team. Regarding his pairing with Durant, Sengun said (via YouTube's English transcript): A perception suddenly formed out of nowhere. I've never had an argument with KD, not even once. We've never raised our voices at each other. We always talk, and we always talk after games, too. We especially talked after games we lost. Like, "What are we doing wrong?" I specifically would ask him, "What do we need to do? Where do you think we made mistakes today? Why didn't it work out?" I ask him, and he answers. These things always happen, but like I said, because we're people who hate losing… you can see that on our faces during games. You can read it on KD's face. You can read it on my face. You can read it on Ime's face. KD also has a massive fanbase. I think about it like this. My fans will never view me negatively. I notice this. Like, there are areas where I perform poorly, and I see that myself. But, say, I'm talking to someone on the phone — they'll always blame others. I'm not that kind of person, though. I always hold myself accountable. I don't speak like that with anyone — whether it's a friend or family member. When things like that are discussed, I always say, "That's not how the situation actually is." Do you get me? I can't ease my conscience by shifting the blame to someone else. I don't like those kinds of excuses, and you can't get any better that way.

As suggested by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ardon Jashari may yet have a future at Milan.
The 23-year-old midfielder was on his way out of San Siro after an unfortunate debut campaign that saw him suffer a broken fibula early into the season, after which he struggled to get minutes under Max Allegri, managing just 17 appearances.
But Allegri is long gone now. With Ruben Amorim preparing for the new season Down Under, the Swiss international has a chance to revitalise his nascent Milan career. His ball-playing and tackling capabilities in tandem will be in high demand for the 3-4-2-1 Amorim is widely expected to deploy, a formation that demands a lot of its midfield pivot.
Moreover, Luka Modrić may be continuing for another year, but the quadragenarian can hardly be expected to feature week in, week out, especially on the back of a World Cup campaign and in a season that will see Milan feature in the Europa League.
So Modrić will start next season with limited minutes, if any, and grow into the campaign. In him, a young player like Jashari could find a senior operator to help him hone his craft and become a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Rossoneri by the end of the season. A clean slate under Amorim means Jashari will not have to worry about past perceptions and start impressing on day one.

On July 9, Citi ****** yst Jason Bazinet lowered the firm's price target on Netflix to $100 from $115 and kept a Buy rating on the shares. Bazinet said tepid viewership, an M&A overhang, the perception that Netflix lacks catalysts, and investor enthusiasm for semis have pressured Netflix's share price and sentiment, though Citi remains "more upbeat." Bazinet also said potential new tiers could help Netflix segment more effectively, support top-line growth, and reignite investor interest, while M&A could help fortify its intellectual property position.

One of Ohio State's primary targets in the 2028 class has made a decision, and will be playing for a rival.
Anthony Blalock Jr. is a 4-star offensive lineman from Youngstown. Ohio. He was ranked as the No. 204 in the 2028 class and the No. 6 player in the state of Ohio according to the 24/7 Sports Composite rankings.. Blalock announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday. It was an unfortunate result for Ohio State, who have continued to try to make an effort to keep in-state talent home.
Blalock had emerged as one of the top prospects in the state, standing at 6-foot-5, 305 pounds. He had the type of size that drew the attention of several Power Four programs, including Indiana, Florida State, Texas Tech, and Georgia Tech. Ohio State stayed in the recruiting process until the very end; however, Alabama ultimately won out.
For the Buckeyes, the loss stings because Blalock Jr. could have been a great story about a local kid staying home and turning into a foundational piece for a future Ohio State line. Perception will matter, and Alabama coming into the state and stealing one of the best it has to offer is a humbling experience.
For Ohio State, the focus will shift to the next tier of offensive linemen targets in the 2028 class. This recruitment also served as a reminder that despite the reputation and momentum that Ohio State has had recently on the recruiting side, there is no room to relax.

New York Giants training camp is two weeks away. That reality is at the forefront of everything being written about the Giants right now. Let’s get to the headlines.
“One-hundred percent, yes, truly an opportunity,” Harbaugh said In an interview with the Dominique Foxworth Show. “Those are welcome things because those are going to happen. Those types of things — I told the guys, this is not a one-off. This is not the first time we’re going to be thrown into this very thing, the political, social discourse. So we have to have conversations in a reasonable — in a way that respects one another. So, how are we going to go about this? What do you guys think?
“And, really, honestly, Dominique, I didn’t have to do anything. I didn’t have to say anything, really. The players said it. They laid the ground rules down for the guys and decided how it would be approached going forward. So now, when these waves keep coming in from the ocean and crash against our shore, I think we’ll be better prepared for them going forward because we’ll be expecting them. And we’ll be talking about how we’re going to deal with them.”
Perhaps the most critical part to any success for the Giants in Harbaugh’s first season and beyond will be tied to Jaxson Dart’s progression throughout the summer and into the 2026 season. His presence in the spring has garnered headlines on a much wider scale than anticipated, and with that comes the pressure to deliver – both internal, which is always present for Dart, and external from those ready to make a judgment on the Giants’ quarterback after every play.
And it’s already started: the borderline disrespect of Dart’s game with cries of how he has not done enough to celebrate the Knicks’ championship with teammates or appear in Crocs commercials on social media with Cam Skattebo, that he is acting as if he has accomplished more than he has so far and supposedly tearing apart the locker room by veering into the great political divide. That’s all a crock, of course, but perception becomes reality when critics don’t care about taking the time to figure out what’s real and what’s imagined.

We've argued in the past that the NFL should embrace the transparency the UFL brings to officiating. A member of the NFL's Competition Committee believes it will.
"And I think every once in a while the benefit of this other league we have, I think quite honestly it’s been helpful for our league," Broncos coach Sean Payton recently told Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom.com. "Every once in a while you see something you like, and I think Dean Blandino and his crew, when we kick live right to the booth review, I think that’s healthy. And I think you’ll see that in the next two or three years in our league."
As Blandino told Rich Eisen in April, transparency in officiating "eliminates some of the angst and some of maybe the conspiracy theories." Keeping the review process a state secret makes people think the NFL has something to hide — especially when the UFL and a growing number of college conferences have pulled up the shades and thrown the doors open.
In this age of legalized, normalized, and heavily monetized sports betting, it's important not only to get calls right but to create the perception that they're doing everything they can to get calls right.
"I definitely think you’ll see that coming," Payton said. "I think it’s healthy, and it’s certainly comforting for the fan when you can see how they arrive at decisions. And I think it’s fair, especially to the officials and the people doing the review, to see what we arrived at."
