A lightning delay halted play with NC State ahead 28-0 with 11:33 to go in the second quarter from Carter-Finley Stadium. It is unclear at this time when play will resume.
The Wolfpack have scored rushing touchdowns on each of their four possession, totaling 178 rushing yards. Duke Scott has ran for 115 of those yards with two scores. CJ Bailey and Davion Gause scored the Wolfpack's other two touchdowns.

Every baseball fan is familiar with the scam known as the shell game— after all, it's present, in more innocuous form, in the cap shuffle ubiquitous to scoreboards. Tonight Zack Wheeler offered the visiting Braves a shell game, tempting them with three baserunners through three at-bats… but when the Braves selected their shell, there weren't very many runs underneath.
The start was rather subpar for the home crowd, with Wheeler allowing a pair of singles to the first two Braves, then walking Matt Olson to load the bases with none away. But a pop fly and a strikeout (aided by a canny ABS challenge from J.T. Realmuto) put him just a single out away from pulling off the great escape. Ozzie Albies flew out to center, and the Braves trudged back to the dugout with the dreaded ****** LETIGER (No Outs, Bases Loaded, Ending in Team Incapable of Getting Easy Runs, it's a real term) nipping at their heels.
But the Phillies would give Atlanta starter Martin Pérez a rougher start. Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner worked walks to start off the game, with the former dashing for third on a fly out from Bryce Harper, and slipping right past the tag. A single to right from Luis Arraez scored him, and the bases were then loaded on a walk of Alec Bohm. Realmuto walked to bring in a run (an ABS challenge on ball four proved fruitless for the visitors). The inning ended when Ronald Acuña Jr, looking truly superb, leapt into the air to turn a line drive from Bryson Stott into out number three.
Wheeler's second inning of work was a far smoother affair, with three up and three down. Pérez could not say the same. Derek Hill lined a ball to right, and Acuña suddenly looked far less superb, stumbling and allowing Hill to reach third. He then scored when Matt Olson bobbled a grounder at first.
The roller coaster ride that is Ronald then took another sudden swerve in the top of the third as he sent a Wheeler sweeper deep, deep into the left field seats. But the Phillies were certainly not inclined to let themselves be outslugged in their own ballpark: in the bottom of the fourth, Schwarber knocked a Pérez pitch over the fence in right. Two more hits, both with two outs, ensued, and Pérez's night ended.

Most of the focus for Liverpool fans towards the end of the summer transfer window was on the club's efforts to sign a right winger to bring a little balance to a lopsided frontline, and to that end the club make an effort try to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton as well as Ismaïla Sarr from Crystal Palace.
Both moves failed, with Liverpool moving first for Minteh in their late window push before pivoting to Sarr when Brighton rebuffed £50M and £60M offers. Given Minteh is out until October or November due to injury, going higher after that was never seriously considered. What, though, in all of this for Minteh?
Liverpool may have missed out on a much-needed signing, but the 22-year-old player missed out on a lucrative move to a bigger club. Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler was asked about the mindset of the player at his pre-match press conference ahead of their game on the weekend against Leeds United.
"He still wears the Brighton badge," Hurzeler said. "He's been here for two years now and we've achieved great things together. Therefore, it's also about him now to commit. This will be the case this season: if the whole team is successful, then Yankuba will maybe fulfil his dream in the next transfer window."
Liverpool fans will be quick to read a potential January move into Hurzeler's response, and certainly depending on how the season progresses for the Reds it might be the case that January moves will be made. He does also stress that it's about Minteh buckling down and performing well this season.

Kevin: Running game
I think the Orange will keep things vanilla but last week UAlbany averaged over 7 yards per carry against UNH. This means Syracuse should be able to control the line of scrimmage and chew up yardage without having to show any new wrinkles before they face Cal. On defense, I'm watching to see how Vince Kehres has his defense attack the running game of his opponent. Can the Syracuse front seven get into the backfield and force the Wildcats into obvious passing situations?
Mike: Early receiving impressions
I'll take the other offensive category featuring a vastly different cast than last year. With both Justus Ross-Simmons and Tyshawn Russell not in the two-deep for Week 1, I'm intrigued to see who in the room takes first steps towards being a prominent target this season. Could Umari Hatcher finally return to 2023 form? Do any of the underclassmen start an early breakout? And will the tight ends be a factor in the pass game this season? The reps should be spread around here so let's see who shines.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an investigation into scoreboard manufacturer Daktronics on Wednesday in relation to an alleged sponsorship deal the company had with Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.
Daktronics acting CFO Howard Atkins revealed the investigation on an earnings call on Wednesday, and said that they have received requests for information from the NBA. Specifics of the SEC's investigation are not yet known. It marks the first public acknowledgement that the NBA is including Daktronics in its investigation into Leonard and the Clippers.
"As you might expect, we have received requests for information from the NBA. Additionally, the Securities and Exchange Commission is seeking information from us concerning the company and Mr. Leonard," Atkins said. "We take these requests seriously and are cooperating. At this point, out of respect for the respective processes, we will not be providing further comment."
Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers have been under scrutiny and an NBA investigation for nearly a year after an alleged no-show sponsorship deal with the now-defunct sustainability company Aspiration. That deal reportedly paid Leonard million for no visible work in an alleged bid to circumvent the NBA's salary cap.
A report last month from "Pablo Torre Finds Out" claimed that Daktronics also hired Leonard to a multimillion dollar sponsorship deal that didn't result in any work from Leonard. Daktronics built the $100 million video board at the Clippers' Intuit Dome.

After IndyCar had its second most-watched race of the season for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix on Aug. 23, neither of its races at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend reached 1 million viewers.
The first race of the weekend, the Snap-On Makers and Fixers 250, received 509,000 viewers on Fox on Saturday before being postponed 90 laps and less than an hour in due to rain. IndyCar initially scheduled the race's restart to occur Sunday morning, but more rain led the series to push back the resumption of the first race until after the afternoon running of the second race, the Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250. Sunday's resumed coverage averaged 309,000 viewers on FS1. Both numbers are a season low.
IndyCar kept the Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250 in its previously scheduled timeslot (1 p.m.) to keep the television window the same. That race received 950,000 viewers, which is a 32% increase from IndyCar's one Milwaukee Mile race in 2025 (720,000 viewers). Race viewership peaked with 1.181 million viewers from 3 to 3:15 p.m., when Pato O'Ward took the checkered flag. O'Ward won both races to get his season total to three wins.
In its second year on Fox, IndyCar is averaging 1.731 million viewers per race – which is up 27% from last year (1.362 million viewers). Fox now owns one-third of Penske Entertainment, IndyCar's parent company, and airs all its races on the network channel (except rescheduled races like Saturday's).
IndyCar hoped to keep the momentum from the one-time Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C., going. The series, however, was unable to get back to 1 million viewers.

The latest reports on Monday indicate that Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur now have an agreement in place for the transfer of central midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, who is set to join the Bianconeri on loan with a potential obligation to buy.
According to the latest updates from Sky Sport Italia, Tottenham have now given their green light for Sarr to travel over to Italy to complete his transfer to Juventus.

Juve have moved quickly to secure the Senegal international after learning that Franck Kessie had decided to return to Atalanta rather than join Luciano Spalletti in Turin.
According to Sky, Juventnus will pay a total of €30m between the cost of the loan fee and the buy clause **** uming that Sarr's transfer is made permanent. The obligation to buy will be triggered in the event of Europa League qualification and is Sarr appears in at least 50% of the team's matches in 2026-27.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are continuing to trim their roster ahead of Sunday's deadline to reach the NFL-mandated 53 players.
According to FOX Sports' Greg Auman, Tampa Bay has now made 20 cuts. The group includes quarterbacks Jake Browning and Connor Bazelak, running back Barika Kpeenu, wide receivers Dean Patterson, Eric Rivers and Jha'Quan Jackson, tight ends Devin Culp and Kenny Fletcher, guards Elijah Klein and Nash Hutmacher, and tackle Marshall Foerner.
Defensively, the Bucs have moved on from defensive linemen Jayson Jones, Josiah Green and Travis Shaw, outside linebacker Yasir Holmes, inside linebackers Nick Jackson and John Bullock, and safety Rashad Wisdom.
Tampa Bay also waived kicker B.T. Potter and long snapper Scott Daly.
The most notable move is Browning, whose departure cleared the way for undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels to serve as Baker Mayfield's backup quarterback. More moves are expected before the 6 p.m. ET deadline as the Buccaneers finalize their initial 53-man roster for the regular season.

Jacksonville (2-1) concluded its NFL preseason on Friday. The Jaguars defeated Tampa Bay (2-1), 19-0, at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
Three quarterbacks appeared in the preseason finale for Jacksonville, including former Vol Joey Aguilar.
Aguilar completed 7-of-9 passing attempts for 57 yards. He was sacked two times for 21 yards and finished with a 93.1 quarterback rating. Aguilar also had one rushing attempt for zero yards.
Carter Bradley led the Jaguars with 77 passing yards and one touchdown, while completing 8-of-15 passing attempts. Bradley had a 90.1 quarterback rating and also totaled five rushing yards on two attempts.
Nick Mullens completed 5-of-7 passing attempts for 62 yards and finished with a 98.5 quarterback rating. He was sacked one time for six yards and did not record rushing statistics.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Jalen Milroe has the biggest opportunity yet in his young NFL career coming on Friday night.
Milroe is battling with Drew Lock for the backup quarterback spot as the deadline to finalize the 53-man roster for the regular season approaches – and there might not be a ton of room for Milroe on that roster. Now, with the Seahawks set to meet with the Kansas City Chiefs in their postseason finale, Milroe will get an entire game to prove he's worth a spot on the roster for the regular season.
Milroe has not been particularly impressive in two preseason appearances for the franchise. He has gone 11-for-19 for 88 yards, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns in Seattle's first two preseason games. He has also been sacked five times. But he has proved dynamic with his legs, rushing for 52 yards on just six carries.
Milroe is entering his second season with the Seahawks. Last season as a rookie, Milroe made three regular-season appearances for the franchise, but did not start or attempt any passes. Now, the third-round 2025 NFL Draft selection will enter the final game of the preseason, fighting for a spot on the roster, with a huge opportunity lying ahead of him. Now, we'll have to see if he can capitalize on it.

Embattled FIFA president Gianni Infantino was on Thursday potentially facing a legal suit brought by UEFA accusing him of "criminal mismanagement" over his now-shelved plan to bring private financing into the World Cup.
But, the 56-year-old Swiss chief of world football's governing body gained some respite when UEFA also announced later on Thursday that they were withdrawing, "on a provisional basis", their threat to boycott FIFA tournaments.
That will be music to the ears of Poland, who are hosting next month's women's Under-20 World Cup.
However, the nuclear option of a boycott -- widely seen as pivotal in forcing Infantino into his humiliating climbdown just days after launching the proposal last month -- remains.
UEFA, European football's governing body, said after a meeting of the continent's member **** ociations in Monaco that it had "agreed to suspend, on a provisional basis, the withdrawal by European teams from FIFA competitions in the coming season".

Real Madrid academy graduate Manu Serrano is set to continue his development away from the Santiago Bernabeu, with the young left-back heading to Deportivo La Coruña in search of regular senior football.
According to MARCA, the 22-year-old will join Deportivo and initially link up with the club's reserve team.
The move is nevertheless understood to offer a clear pathway towards the first team, with his multi-year contract including the possibility of a promotion as early as next season.
For Serrano, the transfer brings an end to a long spell at the Real Madrid academy and opens the door to a new chapter at a club looking to establish itself again at the highest level of Spanish football.

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese rebounded her way into the record books not once, but twice on Monday night.
In Atlanta's 78-71 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese recorded 26 rebounds to shatter Chamique Holdsclaw's single-game record (24) set back in 2003. By the time the final buzzer sounded, Reese had already surpassed A'ja Wilson's single-season rebounding record of 451.
Reese finished the night with 458 total rebounds for the season, scoring 11 points to help Atlanta clinch a fourth consecutive road win.
The Dream needed every single one of those 26 rebounds to survive their sluggish offense, as Los Angeles kept the game tight, forcing them into tough late-clock situations. Reese pulled down 8 offensive rebounds, with every missed jumper from Atlanta seemingly ending up in her hands.
She logged 38 minutes and added 3 ******* ists and 3 steals. However, her touch around the rim was erratic, shooting 4-for-14 from the floor.

Bayern Munich fan Alexander Zverev said he would love to play a tennis match at the club's Allianz Arena, but admitted it's a complicated thing to get done.
"To fill a stadium that big, you'd probably have to host a doubles match with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal against Novak Djokovic and me," the French Open champion told the Bild newspaper on Sunday.
Among the players he listed, only Djokovic is still active in professional tennis.
"It would probably be difficult to sell out this stadium with just a singles match," Zverev said. Even he, as Germany's number one tennis player, most likely couldn't pull that off.
"I'm not Federer. I don't know if I could draw 75,000 people to the stadium just to see me and an opponent," he said.

Last week, ABC aired its coverage of the 2026 Patriot Games, which were announced by United States President Donald Trump last year as part of the nation's America 250 celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the country.

The Tigers, at the most inopportune time, lost their third straight game and their sixth out of seven, a dispiriting 5-2 defeat against the Kansas City Royals on Aug. 21, at Kauffman Stadium.
Slip-sliding away.
They are suddenly six games under .500 (61-67) for the first time since July 31. At game's end, they were six games back in the Central Division and 2.5 back in the wild-card race.
The Tigers' hitters couldn't do anything against Royals' lefty Noah Cameron. He shut them down over seven innings at Comerica Park on July 24. And he did it again Friday over five innings. He was at 85 pitches and he was coming off a complete-game, two-hit shutout in Anaheim, which is why his outing was stopped after five.

Chicago Bears offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo has stunned NFL fans with his return from a serious knee injury.
The Bears activated Trapilo from the Physically Unable to Perform list on August 16. The move allows the second-year tackle to begin practicing after rupturing his patellar tendon only seven months ago.
Trapilo suffered the injury during Chicago's playoff win over the Green Bay Packers in January. The injury initially appeared likely to end his 2026 season before it even began.
Instead, Trapilo has returned to the practice field2026 during training camp.

Indiana's major sports franchises are donating $250,000 to storm relief efforts, after severe winds and historic flooding caused at least seven storm-related deaths and property damage across Indiana.
The Indianapolis Colts and Pacers Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Indiana Pacers and the Indiana Fever, will donate a combined quarter-million dollars to the American Red Cross, the aid organization that funds disaster relief and operates emergency shelters. The teams made the joint announcement Aug. 16, saying each organization will give $125,000.
The Red Cross is providing shelter, food and other relief supplies to Hoosiers affected by the flooding. The money will help ensure families have access to critical ******* istance and recovery resources now, said Terry Stigdon, CEO of the American Red Cross Indiana Region.
The organization is currently operating or helping to run 13 emergency shelters for displaced residents, Stigdon said. The Red Cross sheltered more than 200 people overnight on Aug. 15 and distributed about 4,700 meals and snacks.
"The American Red Cross was here before the storms hit, we are here now and we will be here for the months to come to help people recover," Stigdon said.
