The Chicago Bears were back for the third practice of training camp on Friday, which welcomed fans to Halas Hall for the first open workout of the summer.
The Bears put on a show for the fans on Day 3, which was dominated by the offense and featured several standout performances. Quarterback Caleb Williams is off to a hot start this training camp, and his connection continues to grow with his returning cast of weapons in Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. There was also an interesting left tackle battle update, where for the first time this summer it wasn't Braxton Jones running with the first team. "It's gonna be really exciting," Williams said. "It's gonna be really fun to watch. It's going to be more entertaining than last year, hopefully not as much of a heart race. It's going to be a little more entertaining, entertaining throughout the whole game and what we're going to bring to the table as a team. You can feel it. You can see it. The confidence, it's not thinking, it's what goes on outside."

After a tough series with the New York Mets, the Atlanta Braves returned to Truist Park for a four game set with the Washington Nationals. Though a close one, the Braves came out on top during game one, defeating the Nats 5-4.
Grant Holmes turned in a shaky start, allowing three runs through 4.2 frames. Fortunately, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Mike Yastrzemski picked him up and each homered.

Clemson basketball's first game of the 2026-27 season ended with a victory. But that wasn't the headliner; rather, it was the way the game ended, coming to a screeching halt in the fourth quarter due to "wet court conditions."
The Tigers defeated BC Silute 40-35 on Wednesday at the Stella Azzurra Sport Complex in Rome, opening their three-game tour of Italy with an abbreviated win. Officials stopped the exhibition with 8:23 remaining in the fourth quarter after moisture continued accumulating on the floor and made the court unsafe.

The Washington Commanders are underway at training camp! That, of course, means the season is right around the corner, and we'll soon have answers to our biggest questions.
One of the questions is how the running back rotation will work out. Jacory Croskey-Merritt had a respectable rookie season, but the team added Rachaad White, Kaytron Allen, and Jerome Ford this offseason. Any of that trio could push for a large role, meaning Croskey-Merritt has his work cut out for him.
The second-year running back is coming to camp prepared, though. During the first day of camp on Wednesday, Croskey-Merritt showed up noticeably more built. The running back reportedly put on eight pounds of muscle over the offseason due to wanting to break more tackles.
"I just want to be stronger, be able to break more tackles," Croskey-Merritt said. "I just want to be able to do more stuff, and I think it's going to pay off, man."
The running back played in all 17 games as a rookie and ended with 805 yards and eight touchdowns. Croskey-Merritt had a mediocre stretch over the middle of the season, though, and he struggled to break through contact. The hope is that the experience and added weight will help in that area in 2026.

Not much to report on, as inclement weather wiped out games for Lehigh Valley, Reading, and Jersey Shore on Tuesday night. But the two teams that avoided the East coast rain were victorious.
The Threshers scored 13 runs across the fifth and sixth innings to record an easy win over the Hammerheads. Victor Cardoza was the biggest contributor with three hits including his first home run of the season. First baseman Nolan Beltran also had three hits and scored three runs, while third baseman Robert Phelps had two hits and three RBI out of the leadoff spot.
With that run support, the Threshers pitching staff didn't have to be great. Starter Sean Youngerman allowed two runs in four innings, and Giussepe Velasquez earned the win by giving up one run in two innings.
The Phillies went up 3-0 thanks in part to a Nelson Prieto home run in the fourth. The Rockies began to come back, but RBI singles by Juan Parra and Francisco Renteria established a four-run lead that would withstand some shaky relief pitching by David Victorino in the eighth. (Runs scored on a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch).
Samuel Ortiz gave up one run in five innings to earn the win, and Jose Romero pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his second save of the season.

One of the most intriguing players across the NFL this season is Chicago Bears second-year wide receiver Luther Burden III, who has a massive opportunity in front of him.

Aston Villa are still awaiting the outcome of their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as they try to register Brian Madjo, who joined from Metz for £10m in January and does not turn 18 until January next year.
Under-18s cannot complete international transfers, but Villa have argued Madjo was born in London and should be exempt, despite having three caps for Luxembourg.
Fifa does allow some exemptions for minor players to make moves, including if a 16 or 17-year-old transfers within the European Union - something the UK is no longer part of.
At 6ft 4in, Madjo has already been compared to Belgium's Romelu Lukaku and his leveller against Real Sociedad to make it 2-2 after 56 minutes was simple enough but showed a predatory instinct.
