According to MLB.com's Jason Beck, infielder/outfielder Javier Baez will return from the injured list and play center field.
Baez missed several weeks with a right ankle sprain. He takes the roster spot of catcher Jake Rogers, who was designated for ***** ignment by the Tigers on Tuesday, per a team announcement.
"The Detroit Tigers announce that popular catcher Jake Rogers is being DFA'd, and yes, Tarik Skubal will be making his start tomorrow, perhaps the last one in a Tigers' uniform," USA Today's Bob Nightengale wrote on X.

During a segment involving Joe Henry and Danhuasen dancing and pumping up the crowd, Garcia was in the ring with a guitar playing along. Eventually, Garcia turned in Hendry, blasting him with a guitar, while The Judgment Day's Dominick Mysterio and JD McDonagh delivered a beatdown on Hendry, Danhausen, and the Mini-Hausens.

Julie Andrews smiles alongside her beloved poodle, Shy, in the 1950s.
Singing along with Julie Andrews while she rehearsed for "My Fair Lady" was one of her dog Shy's favorite things. Andrews was performing eight shows a week in London in the late 1950s, so every day she'd play her piano to run scales and vocalize — and the grey poodle felt it should be a duet.
"It was adorable," Andrews said. "She'd lift her little chin and nose and just really gargle away in a real proper note. Eventually — it was adorable but very distracting — she could actually come down the scale as I came down the scale."
If Andrews tried putting her dog in another room of their apartment, she'd spy Shy's little nose poking under the door until she relented and let the spirited dog rejoin rehearsal.
Her constant companion also frequently accompanied Andrews to the theater when it was showtime.

But, the Heat aren't favorites quite yet. They're still behind a handful of NBA teams, and there's one question for Miami that really stands out.

All or nothing. Nothing else matters. Super Bowl or bust. Bold statements like these are as expected from pro athletes as they are cliché. It's a mindset NFL fans demand to hear from their favorite players and it's a mindset that some fans even take on themselves. Some fans might say it out loud so many times they actually believe it.
When Dak Prescott recently said the Dallas Cowboys had Super Bowl expectations, no one batted an eye. Throughout his career, Prescott has led some of the best offenses in the NFL. 2026 is shaping up to be more of the same with Prescott operating at the top of his game and his **** nal of weapons having never looked better.
Yet the Cowboys defense provides some unavoidable cause for concern. They are coming off a season where they were at or near the bottom of the NFL in almost all major categories and they enter 2026 with more than a few major questions left to answer. But coming off a 7-9-1 campaign and having missed the postseason for two consecutive years, how realistic are Super Bowl expectations in 2026?
"It's always been my mindset," Prescott said of his Super Bowl expectations. "It's the one thing I truly love about the Cowboys organization and the fanbase. It's all or nothing."
It's possible Prescott actually believes this but it's far more likely he's saying what he feels he's supposed to say. It's hard to believe anyone outside of maybe the Los Angeles Rams or Seattle Seahawks actually believes this "all or nothing" mantra this season. The investments those two teams made are significant, and based on recent play, the extreme expectations for them are realistic. The Cowboys have neither of those factors working in their favor.

The New York Yankees' offense is missing some key bats right now, but their starting rotation is still one of the best in baseball.
Cam Schlittler, Max Fried and Gerrit Cole are an elite trio to have in a rotation. Carlos Rodón will return soon as well, but the Yankees may be interested in making the group even better. According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Detroit Tigers are "super close" to making Tarik Skubal available, and MLB insider Jim Bowden has been told the Yankees would pursue him.
"If the Tigers were to trade Tarik Skubal, (the Yankees) will play there," Bowden said on the Foul Territory Network.
A rotation featuring Skubal, Schlittler, Fried and Cole would be a nightmare for any team in a postseason series. Pair that with a healthy offense that has Aaron Judge, Ben Rice, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton, and the Yankees are favorites in the American League.

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The mass confusion was supposed to be gone by now.
The decisions to sell, buy or stand pat should have been finalized with everyone having a clear direction.
And yet, with just six shopping days left before the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline, we have less clarity now than at the All-Star break.
The Miami Marlins produced their greatest June (20-6) in franchise history, lost a franchise-record 12 games in a row, staged a dramatic comeback against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, and are smack-dab in the NL wild-card race.
The Boston Red Sox, who had the American League's worst record (32-46) a month ago, are cruising now at 55-50, and could be the AL favorites to reach the World Series.

The LeBron James free agency cycle lasted a little less than a full month. Right before the pandemonium began, he informed the Los Angeles Lakers of his desire to play for a new team. Since then, rumors have continued to circulate about where the four-time MVP could end up.
Finally, the decision was announced on July 24, 2026. Joining his fourth franchise, he was going to the Philadelphia 76ers. Now, a veteran insider has gotten the inside scoop on how his new team found out about the decision.
With teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Golden State Warriors also in the hunt, there were a ton of options at James' disposal. With almost all of those organizations making major moves, the four-time NBA champion had a lot to ***** s.
Ultimately, though, the allure of playing alongside one of his favorite young players, Tyrese Maxey, alongside the complete roster the 76ers sported after trading for Jaylen Brown was enough to sway his decision.

The Rams were among the favorites for Super Bowl LXIII before they traded for Myles Garrett in June and acquiring the defensive player of the year has only pushed expectations for the coming season higher in Los Angeles.
Head coach Sean McVay acknowledged those expectations at the start of training camp while noting that "there's a lot of stuff in the midst of the journey that we don't control." McVay wants the Rams to prioritize the things they do control when it comes to preparing for the season and quarterback Matthew Stafford was in a similar frame of mind when he spoke to reporters on Monday.
Stafford said he wants the team to focus on improving their baseline level of play rather than thinking about how high they can climb if everything falls into place.
"We can't help but make each other better, [but] pieces of paper and names on a roster, those don't win football games," Stafford said, via Greg Beacham of the ******* ociated Press. "Teams and players and groups do. . . . Sean said it the other night, we've got potentially a high ceiling, right? We've got great players that have done a lot in this league. What can we do to continue to raise our floor, so if I'm off a little bit, we can still go find a way to win a football game? If our defense is off a little bit, we can still find a way to go win a football game. Continuing to raise that floor is something that's going to be a huge part of our journey this season."
There are a number of ways that a talented team can get thrown off track over the course of an NFL season. The work that Stafford and the Rams do now can't eliminate all of them, but anything they can do to pare that number down will help them weather the inevitable curveballs that come their way over the next few months.

Big news in the sports world this week as LeBron James finally made his decision about where he is going to play next year, and as you know he decided on the Philadelphia 76ers. So, what does that mean for his sports card and collectibles market?

The Campioni di Futuro (mini) rookie card is maybe my all-time favorite. It's odd, it's adorable and it's under $100 for a raw. There's also numbered and different color variations, and while it may not bring you generational wealth, it certainly remains relatively rare for a LeBron rookie.

The Illini will be looking to win at least nine games for the third consecutive season. The schedule features a mix of manageable opponents, national championship contenders, and everything in between. Let's take a closer look at the schedule and predict each game.
Opening night should be an exciting one in Champaign as Illinois enters as a heavy favorite against UAB. The Blazers compete in the American Athletic Conference and simply shouldn't be able to match Illinois' talent level. The Illini are a 27.5-point favorite and should have little trouble cruising to a blowout victory. Fans will also get their first look at the new video board inside Memorial Stadium as Illinois starts the season 1-0.
Duke will be Illinois' first Power Four opponent of the season. The Illini will look to build on last year's 45-19 road victory over the Blue Devils.
Duke finished 9-5 last season and captured the ACC ******* le over Virginia, but the Blue Devils are expected to take a step back after quarterback Darian Mensah transferred to Miami along with second-team All-ACC wide receiver Cooper Barkate. There has long been an elephant in the Federal Open Market Committee's room as it tries to accomplish its mission of promoting maximum employment and stable prices. It's just much, much bigger now, and it's hard to ignore a $2 trillion elephant.
That's roughly how much the US government is issuing in new Treasury bills and bonds each year as the country's budget deficit swells. Its massive spending problem isn't new: The US has run a deficit for more than two decades, helped along by the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. But the economy is looking relatively healthy now, with inflation down from its decades-high record in 2022, shrinking to 3.5% in June. Weekly jobless claims just dropped to their lowest level since 1969. And yet the government is still issuing increasing amounts of debt. Economists say it's unsustainable.
Reducing the federal deficit may be Congress's job, but the central bank, led by Chair Kevin Warsh, has to contend with the economic effects of Treasury borrowing as it determines whether to hike, cut or hold interest rates steady. A committee that already is split on where interest rates should head will gather this week to decide what's next as a growing chorus of experts point to the problem the federal deficit poses.

The House of Representatives narrowly passed a record $1.15 trillion annual defense budget last week. It still needs Senate approval, but Washington's appetite for military spending is clear, and the US isn't alone. The EU, **** an and Middle Eastern nations have all been ramping up defense budgets, too, creating real sector opportunities for portfolios. Capturing them, however, takes more than pure defense-category investing: It requires knowing where the money actually flows.
"The defense ecosystem is actually much larger than most investors think," said Chris Grisanti, chief market strategist at MAI Capital Management. "It can include industrial companies like autos — GM has a big defense business — and of course technology and communications companies."

The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars have controlled the AFC South the past four seasons. Will that hold true in 2026?
Jacksonville and Houston both earned playoff berths last year, with a razor-thin margin at the top of the division. The Jaguars rode 13 wins to take the AFC South crown, while Houston punched a playoff ticket via the wild card with a 12-5 record.
The Jaguars bookended the last four years with division ***** les, while the Texans won the AFC South in back-to-back years in 2023-2024.
Roster-wise, things will look largely the same in 2026. The Jaguars lost key free agents in RB Travis Etienne Jr. and LB Devin Lloyd, but they will get two-way star Travis Hunter back from injury. Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has been making headlines for years—so much so that she was chosen as the cover model for Vogue's August 2023 issue. So when the pop soloist spilled on her favorite fast-food dishes in the magazine's "73 Questions" series on YouTube, we were all ears.

In the video, Rodrigo talked about songwriting, her inspirations, fashion and—what grabbed our attention—food. After sharing some of her homemade banana bread with interviewer Joe Sabia (we're waiting for the recipe!), she dished on her go-to fast-food breakfast.
When asked by Sabia to confirm her favorite fast-food order, Rodrigo answered, "I love a good McDonald's oatmeal."

The "Who Dey!" chant at Bengals games is one of the best parts of being a Bengals fan and a Cincinnati sports fan. When the Ruler of the Jungle leads The Jungle in the Who Dey chant before kickoff, that gets you going as a fan. After a big touchdown, that's when the "Who Dey!" chant is at its best.
So, where does the chant rank among NFL stadium chants? Sports Illustrated's Karl Rasmussen ranked the 10 best in the NFL, with the "Who Dey!" chant checking in at No. 6. If you've ever wondered how the "Who Dey!" chant came to be, here's how, according to Rasmussen:
The Bengals' chant originated in 1981, stemming from a popular local car commercial and a beloved beer, Hudepohl. Beer vendors at the team's former stomping grounds, Riverfront Stadium, used to offer the local beer by shouting "Hudy!" to fans. That eventually transitioned to "Who Dey," and it evolved further after fans incorporated the song played in commercials by Red Frazier's Ford of Cincinnati, which goes, "Who's going to give you a better deal than Red Frazier … ******* ody!" The combination of both resulted in the Bengals chant. "Who dey? Who dey? Who dey say is gonna beat the Bengals? … ******* ody!"
Rasmussen also ******* yzes the comparison between the "Who Dey!" chant in Cincinnati and the "Who Dat!" chant in New Orleans that Saints fans do in the Superdome. In fact, he ranked the "Who Dat!" chant No. 5, one spot above the Bengals. Of course, there's an ongoing debate between the two teams of which chant came first.
One of my favorite memories as a Bengals fan was being at the Bengals-Saints game in New Orleans four years ago. There were so many Bengals fans who made the trip for the game. Before kickoff, Saints fans started doing the "Who Dat!" chant. In response, Bengals fans started doing the "Who Dey!" chant. It was dueling chants, making for an awesome pregame environment.
