No surprises here as the TE1 overall in 2025 and 2024 appear in the first tier. The ceiling with these two players is limitless in a way other tight ends can only dream of. McBride posted the third-most points for a tight end in NFL history last year, largely by setting the receptions record at 126. That goes down as 10 more than any other tight end in league history. Bowers holds the record for fantasy points by a rookie tight end. Even in a down 2025 season, his 43.3 PPR points in Week 9—on the back of a 12-127-3 receiving line—are the fourth-most for a tight end since the turn of the century. In both season-long and single-week measures, these two tight ends stand above the rest.
I strongly considered moving Loveland into Tier 1 and Warren into Tier 3. Loveland's final four games (including the postseason) were off the charts. He was targeted 48 times in total and topped 90 yards in three contests. Ben Johnson funneled him a 31 percent target share and a 35 percent air yards share. The Bears asked Loveland to be the centerpiece of their passing attack late in his rookie season and he only got better with more on his plate.
Warren, on the other hand, fizzled out down the stretch, finishing as a weekly TE1 for the final time in Week 12. With Daniel Jones under center, Warren was on pace for a monstrous season. Warren averaged 12.9 PPR points per game in 12 contests with Jones healthy. He was posting 1.9 yards per route run and .21 targets per route. Loveland finished the year at 1.9 and .23. We're likely looking at two very similar seasons if Jones stays healthy. Maybe he doesn't in 2026, but that's not a good reason for Warren to go two rounds after Loveland in fantasy drafts.

The Chicago Bears were back at training camp on Tuesday for their sixth practice of the summer, and there was plenty to break down from Day 6, including the performance of quarterback Caleb Williams.
Williams is entering his third season following a breakout sophomore campaign where he set a franchise single-season passing record, led an NFL record seven fourth quarter comebacks (including the postseason) while leading Chicago to an 11-6 record, NFC North ***** le and playoff win. That was all in one season with head coach Ben Johnson. Now, all eyes are on Williams this summer as he continues to develop under Johnson and make a huge leap in Year 3.
We're taking a look at the good, the bad and the noteworthy with Williams from the sixth practice of Bears training camp:
It was a sloppy showing for the offense, but there was some positive from Tuesday's practice. The connection between Williams and tight end Colston Loveland continued to flourish, as Bear Report noted that Loveland continues to be one of Williams' top targets. "They had a nice connection today down the right sideline as Williams threw him a lob pass and Loveland went up and got it over rookie Dillon Thieneman."
Overall, it was a rough showing for the offense. According to Dan Wiederer, this looked like the "sloppiest offensive showing of camp to date. Easily." There was plenty of physicality and intensity on display, which even led to the first scuffle of training camp between two rookies. Overall, it was a win for the defense and the offense had its share of struggles. There was some good injury news as running back Kyle Monangai returned to team drills as he overcomes a soft tissue injury. There were also some notable developments in several position battles.

Heavy focus on the run game, 13 personnel: Tuesday's padded practice featured heavy focus on the run game and 13 personnel, both of which will be key to Ben Johnson's offense being successful. Before practice, defensive coordinator made it clear there would be a heavy focus on 13 personnel, and Courtney Cronin noted that it was "clear the emphasis is gonna be running out of 13." According to Bear Report, they "went more run heavy today, by design. The run game should be strong once again. Working a lot of run concepts with the 12 and 13 personnel." They also noted that Chicago was mixing in receivers when they went 13 personnel.

Drafting fantasy football teams can have the same vibe. It's organized chaos. You have a plan, and the fantasy gods laugh at you. The draft grades you receive afterward are enough to make you log out and forget you even joined a league before opening kickoff. Trust me, I've been there. And I still short-circuit sometimes when I'm on the clock. But after a few years of cobbling together winning teams, here are a few Dos and Don'ts to simplify things when trying to build a squad.
Admittedly, disregarding a player's name and focusing on their production sounds exactly like something a nerd like myself would suggest. The thought runs counter to the excitement we experience every Thursday, Sunday and Monday. Specifically who touches the ball is what keeps us debating about this beautiful sport all the way until the next season starts.
On the one hand, the highlights and constant attention to offseason news and notes are what shape the market. Puka Nacua and Colston Loveland (featured in the top-10 plays) are two of the best at their position. We should value them accordingly. But the other side of that coin is the notion their production (not talent) is unique. In turn, if you don't draft that particular player, you've fallen behind. However, you can find similar levels of opportunity elsewhere.

Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland is entering his second season with the franchise and has momentum heading into this fall.
Loveland had a strong rookie season, totaling 58 receptions for 713 yards with six touchdowns. Loveland was particularly dangerous in the playoffs, including a massive performance over the Green Bay Packers in a 31-27 win in the wild card round. Loveland had eight receptions for 137 yards and was the first rookie tight end to have eight or more receptions and over 100 receiving yards in a playoff game in NFL history.
Loveland and Bears quarterback Caleb Williams developed a strong rapport in 2025, and the chemistry the duo exhibits has Williams believing Loveland can be the best at his position.
"He can become the best tight end in the league," Williams said on Wednesday. "But stats, and us going out there and proving it, is what it is going to take. And to be able to do that, we've got to put in work. We've got to build a connection, hang out inside and outside the building, have tough conversations or have open communication throughout the year and throughout camp. So, it's going to be exciting. It's going to be fun. He's a target to throw to."

The Chicago Bears were back for the third practice of training camp on Friday, which welcomed fans to Halas Hall for the first open workout of the summer.
The Bears put on a show for the fans on Day 3, which was dominated by the offense and featured several standout performances. Quarterback Caleb Williams is off to a hot start this training camp, and his connection continues to grow with his returning cast of weapons in Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. There was also an interesting left tackle battle update, where for the first time this summer it wasn't Braxton Jones running with the first team. Meanwhile, the defense put up a bit of a fight during red zone drills, where Williams threw his first interception of camp.
Here's what we learned from the third practice of training camp:
The Bears offense has overwhelmingly dominated the first three practices of training camp, although the defense has had a few moments. On Friday, it was quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent putting on a show for fans leading Chicago's explosive passing attack that's remained mostly unstoppable. According to Chris Kwiecinski, "Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent stole the show. They were in command, deadly accurate and anticipated routes so well." Williams' connection with Colston Loveland and Rome Odunze thrived while Bagent developed a nice rapport with Jahdae Walker, per Michal Dwojak. Even after Williams threw his first interception of the summer to Jaylon Johnson during red zone work, he "regrouped and made positive plays after."
The Bears offense had another impressive showing, but their one flaw came during the first red zone period, which was dominated by the defense. According to Courtney Cronin, both Montez Sweat and Austin Booker had sacks on back-to-back plays. Williams was picked off by cornerback Jaylon Johnson during a 7-on-7 red-zone drill, but he was able to bounce back later. Mark Carman noted that there was "some sloppiness in the red zone" where "Caleb showed some frustration and leadership." But the offense closed things out on a strong note with a successful two-minute drill, where there was 1:37 left, two timeouts, on own 39 with game tied at 10-10, per Adam Jahns. They went sox plays before Williams connected with Loveland for a 14-yard touchdown. But the best part according to Jahns? "Williams and Bears offense overcame a sack halfway through the drill. Williams-Loveland connection came through."

Last season, the Chicago Bears won many of their games in dramatic fashion. Quarterback Caleb Williams led the NFL in comeback wins last season with seven, including a thriller over the Green Bay Packers, which marked the Bears' their first playoff win since 2010.
However, the Bears roster will look a bit different this season with Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III now serving as Chicago's top two wide receivers. Defensively, the Bears also have two new starting safeties with veteran Coby Bryant coming from the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago's first-round draft pick Dillon Thieneman.
Talking with Kay Adams of "Up & Adams" on Monday, Williams expressed his excitement for the upcoming season and how this team is different from the "Cardiac Bears" from last season.
"It's gonna be really exciting," Williams said. "It's gonna be really fun to watch. It's going to be more entertaining than last year, hopefully not as much of a heart race. It's going to be a little more entertaining, entertaining throughout the whole game and what we're going to bring to the table as a team. You can feel it. You can see it. The confidence, it's not thinking, it's what goes on outside."
Chicago has numerous playmakers on both sides of the ball that will help make this season more entertaining than last year. Tight end Colston Loveland and Burden now have a year under their belt and the Bears added to their receiving core by drafting tight end Sam Roush.

The Chicago Bears beat reporters were all pretty much in agreement in their praise for the offense on day two of training camp practice.
"Good day overall for the offense," shared Bear Reports' Zack Pearson, who had a nice recap thread about the day.
"Massive day for Luther Burden, he was the most targeted receiver on the field," wrote FOX32's Devan Kaney. "Caleb Williams looked great, completing the majority of his passes."
CHGO's Adam Hoge shared that it was "One of Caleb Williams' better practices. Well over 70% today. Only 4 incompletions all day in 7-on-7/team, and two were tipped at the line."

LAKE PLACID — As America continues to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its berth, the legacy of one of the nation’s greatest moments continues to be chronicled at a studio in Loveland, Colorado.
Sculptor Rob Eccleston has made significant progress on the "Monument to a Miracle" sculpture honoring a time when 20 U.S. hockey players shocked the world at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid by defeating the heavily favored Soviet Union in the Miracle on Ice. The team, coached by Herb Brooks, then overcame Finland two days later to secure an improbable gold medal.
“When I presented the sketches to the team, they said it was really nice, but we really want it to be based on the photo of them on the podium because on our backs is USA, not our names,” Eccleston said. “It’s not about us as individuals. It’s about the team. And that spoke volumes to me. It made me more interested in doing the project than ever before because it showed the humility of these amazing hockey players.”

The Colorado Eagles are going to look very different this upcoming season. With 11 free agents choosing to move on from the club, it was important that the Colorado Avalanche start investing in its youth. The Avs extending Taylor Makar's contract for two additional years is one way that they can show it. His extension was not because he shares the same last name as his older brother Cale; it is because he earned it. Taylor still has more to achieve and he might have a breakout season this upcoming year.
Last season, in Makar's first full season in the pros, he did a lot better than expected. He was used in every role from the penalty kill to the power play. His 14 goals and 10 **** ists led all rookies on the Eagles. His ability to adapt during games became his greatest **** et. Makar would find the weakness on the edge of the defense and go on the rush for an opportunity. It usually led to the Eagles getting a scoring chance or starting pressure in the zone. The biggest problem that the Maine Black Bear had was taking penalties. Makar had 56 penalty minutes in 52 games in the AHL. Most of them were at the worst time of the game for the Eagles. Now former head coach Mark Letestu mentioned it was Makar's one weakness. That he needed to learn to control his stick and his massive size.
Makar impressed the Avalanche with a call-up last season and played in 12 NHL games. So much so that he is one player named by Jared Bednar who will get ample chances this upcoming season. Makar showed drastic improvement during his opportunity with the Avalanche, coming very close to a goal frequently. Makar's learning experience in the AHL and the NHL will come in handy this coming season. He will be less hesitant, allowing his play to be more of a second nature. Chances are very high that the power forward could see top-six minutes while playing in Loveland and hopefully increased minutes on the bottom-six in Denver. If we put these factors together, Makar could see his first point in an Avalanche sweater and his first 20-goal season in his career.
Taylor has done a lot to distance himself in the way he plays his game from the way Cale does. Fans should not hold him to the same expectations as they do his older brother. I think Taylor could morph into a long-lasting bottom-six forward that can kill penalties and hit the offense off the puck. He may not take the same path as Cale did, but they will end up on the same bench once again this season.

After leading the Bears to their first playoff victory in more than a decade, Caleb Williams enters his third year with arguably the deepest collection of skill-position talent of his career. Chicago's offense is no longer built around one star receiver; it now features a balanced mix of explosive tight ends and productive running backs.
With that being said, not all weapons are created equal. Here's how Williams' supporting cast ranks heading into the 2026 season.
Loveland has quickly become the centerpiece of Chicago's passing attack. The former first-round pick possesses the rare combination of size and athleticism that makes him a nightmare matchup for linebackers and safeties. He can line up in the slot or split out wide, giving Ben Johnson endless flexibility when designing the offense.
Williams has always excelled at throwing over the middle and extending plays outside the pocket. Few players benefit more from that improvisational style than Loveland, whose feel for finding open **** e is already among the league's best. If there's one player most likely to lead the Bears in receptions and receiving touchdowns, it's Loveland.
Though some may consider it bold, Burden has the highest ceiling among Chicago's wide receivers. Johnson's offense thrives on getting explosive athletes the ball in **** e, and Burden fits that mold perfectly.

With the San Francisco 49ers wrapping up their organized team activities and skipping mandatory minicamp, Kyle Shanahan's team is on their long break before training camp at their SAP Performance Facility later this month.
This down time across the NFL provides an excellent opportunity for the fans and media to discuss where players and teams stand before the start of the season.
One example of that is ESPN's annual coaches, executive top 10 lists for each position. On Friday, they released their top 10 tight ends, and 49ers tight end George Kittle came in at No. 3, falling one spot from last year.
"Injuries and durability are becoming a concern, but when he's healthy, he's still the most versatile, dominant, complete tight end," an NFC executive told ESPN. "He's still the gold standard for blocking, running and catching."
Brock Bowers and Trey McBride were the only two tight ends ranked above Kittle, while Sam LaPorta, Tyler Warren, Tucker Kraft, Colston Loveland, Kyle Pitts, Mark Andrews and Travis Kelce rounded out the top 10.

Engram caught 50 passes for 461 yards and one touchdown last season, but if you watched every game, it didn't even feel like he did that much. Still, the Broncos have him positioned as the No. 1 tight end on the depth chart heading into 2026.
Recently, ESPN asked a group of NFL executives, coaches and scouts to rank the best players at each position in the league and when it came to the tight end position, Engram wasn't on their radar.
The top 10 is filled with young players such as Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland. Travis Kelce still sneaks into the top 10 as well.

Perhaps the most important takeaway of this three-day minicamp is not to get too concerned with what's happening during these non-padded practices in June. Case in point, Tuesday's session was all defense and therefore a rough go for quarterback Caleb Williams, according to Clay Harbor, who had a "tougher" but "not terrible" day. Williams "made some nice throws" but also missed Colston Loveland for a "potential explosive" play.
Williams also threw two interceptions (both to cornerback Jaylon Johnson). According to Zack Pearson, one of those came during the two-minute drill on what appeared to be a miscommunication with free-agent addition Kalif Raymond, who admitted he's still getting used to this new Ben Johnson offense. Just another reason not to overreact to practices when game action is still months away.

Imagine you’re drafting tomorrow in a 12-team PPR league. Who would be the top three bust candidates to fade in the fourth round? The following is based on current average draft positions (ADPs).
I don’t see the fascination with Colston Loveland, whose ADP is overall-42 / TE3. It’s as if everyone got the memo while I was on vacation. Except I don’t take fantasy vacations. So what’s happening?
As I’ve pointed out before, the fantasy market tends to overweight players who finished the previous season strongly. Sure enough, Loveland racked up insanely high numbers in his final four contests, posting a combined 28-378-2 receiving line. How did he do it? By getting 48 targets. Rome Odunze missed two of those games and played a relatively minor role in the other two. Meanwhile, Luther Burden took a firm backseat in three of those games.
Loveland dominated for reasons that cannot be easily replicated. A health Burden and Odunze will play larger roles than we saw late last season. Loveland is a fantastic young talent, and he also cannot be expected to get 12 targets per game or even 10. Presumably, he’ll finish among the top seven TEs, but a near-elite finish that warrants a fourth-round pick? I’m not seeing it.
Terry McLaurin is another risky selection. His overall-45 / WR22 ADP ****** umes the nearly 31-year-old can return to his 2024 form, when he needed 13 touchdowns to finish as the WR16 in points per game. Even with nine TDs that season -- if his receptions and yards had remained the same -- he would have been the WR23. Advancing age has lowered his ceiling to a new low.

In the Division II bracket, Anderson and Worthington Kilbourne opened the Region 8 semifinals and Loveland and Harrison finished the round.
