The Cooper Companies Inc. (NASDAQ:COO), a leading medical device company, announced its third quarter fiscal 2026 results on September 9. Topline went up 1% to $1.066 billion in comparison with the same quarter last year, which also included 1% organic growth. The company posted quarterly adjusted diluted EPS of $1.15, which represented a 4% jump from Q3 FY25. During the quarter, $339.1 million was spent on repurchasing around 4.9 million of the company's common shares. This leaves management with $1.5 billion of repurchase capacity, which remains available after the Board had raised its buyback authorization from $2 billion to $3 billion.
The quarter featured several encouraging highlights. These include earnings that exceeded projections, notable growth across the fertility segment within CooperSurgical, record free cash flow generation, and a major tax resolution in the company's favor.
GAAP gross margin went up from 65% in Q3 FY25 to 67% during the recent quarter, largely reflecting the comparison against fiscal 2025 inventory write-downs tied to a CooperSurgical product line exit. Adjusted operating margin improved by 30 basis points to 26%, supported by cost discipline and productivity gains, though partly offset by currency headwinds.
Interest expense fell to $21.5 million from $25.4 million a year prior, reflecting lower rates and reduced average debt. Free cash flow surged 66% to $273.0 million, driven by $341.7 million in operating cash flow less $68.7 million in capital spending.
Due to unfavorable currency movements and rising manufacturing costs, the Q3 gross margin settled at 67% on adjusted basis. This was a 60 basis point drop from Q3 FY25. Certain areas of the business grant caution, such as the CooperVision segment. It generated flat organic growth amid notable weakness across the Asia Pacific and Americas regions.

XPO, Inc. (NYSE:XPO) reported that preliminary August 2026 North American less-than-truckload, or LTL, tonnage per day increased 3.7% from a year earlier. Shipments per day rose 5.7%, while average weight per shipment declined 1.8%. Final July figures showed tonnage per day increasing 5.8%, shipments per day rising 5.9%, and weight per shipment slipping 0.2%.
The two months indicate stronger shipment activity, but August's wider gap between shipment and tonnage growth points to lighter freight. The investment question is whether XPO, Inc. (NYSE:XPO) can convert additional shipments into better network density and fixed-cost absorption without allowing extra handling costs to dilute margins.
Higher shipment counts can improve the utilization of routes, service centers, dock doors, and equipment. XPO, Inc. (NYSE:XPO) operates an ****** et-based North American LTL network that moves approximately 16 billion pounds of freight annually. More shipments moving through that infrastructure can spread terminal, technology, and equipment costs across a larger revenue base.
The second quarter provides evidence that XPO, Inc. (NYSE:XPO) has recently translated volume and pricing growth into stronger economics. North American LTL revenue increased 15.2% to $1.43 billion. Fuel-surcharge revenue accounted for part of that increase, rising to $314 million from $183 million. Separately, yield excluding fuel increased 4.4%, shipments per day rose 2.8%, and tonnage per day increased 1.0%.
XPO, Inc. (NYSE:XPO) reported a company-defined non-GAAP adjusted operating ratio of 79.9%, an improvement of 300 basis points. XPO, Inc. (NYSE:XPO) calculates adjusted operating ratio as one minus adjusted operating income divided by segment revenue, using unrounded amounts. Adjusted operating income removes amortization and restructuring costs and adjusts for gains on real estate transactions. XPO, Inc. (NYSE:XPO) also reported a damage claims ratio below 0.2%.

On September 8, ServiceTitan, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTAN) reported its fiscal second-quarter financial results, which showed impressive growth. The company's revenue increased 21% year-over-year to $292.8 million and non-GAAP free cash flow reached a record $50.5 million. The company's non-GAAP operating margin also improved to 15.2%.
A key highlight of the quarter was the growing adoption of ServiceTitan, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:TTAN) AI-powered Max package. The company exceeded its target as the number of Max locations more than doubled during the quarter. It now expects to reach more than 700 Max locations by the end of the fiscal year.
The company also said that it is currently focusing on Max and AI, as these represent the highest return on investment. However, this also means that the company is deferring expansion into new commercial trades.
GTV Growth Slows Despite Strong Results
While overall results were solid, ServiceTitan, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTAN) saw some moderation in gross transaction volume (GTV) growth. GTV increased 17% year-over-year in the fiscal second quarter, down from the 23% growth seen in the first quarter. The company attributed the slower growth mainly to lower lead volumes among customers, particularly in the HVAC market.

Two cybersecurity heavyweights, Rubrik, Inc. (NYSE:RBRK) and CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD), both released Q2 FY2027 earnings in late August/early September while deepening their strategic alliance. On September 1, the companies announced a joint agentic identity resilience workflow orchestrated by CrowdStrike's Charlotte Agentic SOAR. By uniting CrowdStrike's Falcon Next-Gen Identity Security with Rubrik's Identity Resilience, joint customers can now detect, investigate, and recover from compromised identity environments in hours instead of days.

CrowdStrike continues to operate at a massive scale with strong cash generation and expanding margins. For Q2 FY2027, CrowdStrike reported total revenue of $1.47 billion, up 26% year-over-year, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) reaching $5.84 billion (up 25%) after adding a record $333 million in net new ARR. GAAP net income turned positive at $5.3 million ($0.01 per diluted share), while non-GAAP net income reached $322.9 million ($0.31 per diluted share). Operating cash flow hit a Q2 record of $530.3 million, with free cash flow reaching $377.4 million. Expanding its momentum, CrowdStrike announced a partnership with OpenAI on September 2 to secure Codex agents and integrate GPT-5.6 Cyber into Falcon, prompting Raymond James to raise its price target to $250 from $240 on September 3, citing an "AI double whammy."
Rubrik, meanwhile, represents the hyper-growth challenger outperforming Wall Street's top-line expectations. For Q2 FY2027, Rubrik's total revenue surged 38% year-over-year to $427.3 million (up 43% when normalized for material rights), while Subscription ARR grew 33% to $1.66 billion. While GAAP net loss per share narrowed to $(0.30), Rubrik achieved non-GAAP net income per share of $0.20 ($0.47–$0.53 guidance for full FY27). Operating cash flow reached $76.8 million, generating $65.7 million in free cash flow. While CrowdStrike holds the stronger overall financial profile given its $5.84 billion ARR scale and $377.4 million free cash flow generation, Rubrik leads in top-line growth velocity.
CrowdStrike's bull case rests on its leadership in endpoint and identity security, proven GAAP and non-GAAP profitability, and deep AI integrations with platforms such as OpenAI and Charlotte AI, which could drive further platform consolidation and high-margin ARR growth. However, slower percentage growth compared with younger peers, elevated valuation multiples, and lingering customer scrutiny following past software update disruptions remain key risks.

On September 2, F5, Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV) announced a key integration with MuleSoft, a Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) company, federating F5 AI Guardrails directly into MuleSoft's Agent Fabric Omni Gateway. As enterprises rapidly scale agentic AI capabilities, security teams face growing governance gaps and risks from prompt injection, data leakage, and toxic outputs. This native integration gives security and platform engineering teams centralized policy enforcement, proactive threat mitigation, and low-touch policy tuning without forcing organizations to re-architect existing infrastructure.
While the partnership strengthens both ecosystems, examining their latest financials reveals two enterprise software giants moving at distinctly different scales and growth trajectories.
F5, Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV) reported strong Q3 FY26 results, generating $865 million in revenue (up 11% year-over-year). Revenue growth was anchored by a 19% jump in product revenue, led by a 32% surge in systems revenue ($240 million). F5's bottom line remained exceptionally robust, expanding non-GAAP operating margin to 35.0% and delivering non-GAAP net income of $272 million ($4.73 per diluted share, up from $4.16).
Salesforce operated at a much larger scale in its record Q2 FY27, generating $11.3 billion in quarterly revenue (up 11% year-over-year). Growth was fueled by subscription and support revenue of $10.8 billion and expanding adoption of its Agentforce platform, whose annual recurring revenue (ARR) neared $3.9 billion. Salesforce posted a non-GAAP operating margin of 34.1%, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $5.90, while raising its full-year FY27 revenue guidance to $46.1B–$46.4B.
While both companies run near-identical, highly profitable non-GAAP operating margins (~34%–35%), Salesforce leads overall financial health due to its massive free cash flow generation, cRPO backlog of $33.5 billion, and broader ecosystem dominance.

On August 27, AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN) and Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN) scored a shared clinical victory. Positive high-level results from the Phase III CROSSING trial showed that their co-developed severe asthma drug, TEZSPIRE, achieved statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements across both co-primary endpoints, histologic remission and the frequency/severity of dysphagia, and all key secondary endpoints at week 24 in patients with eosinophilic esophagitis. These benefits were sustained through week 52 across both tested doses, accompanied by a safety profile consistent with its approved indications. While CROSSING highlights their joint R&D success, a closer look at their standalone financial performance reveals distinct growth trajectories.
Both pharmaceutical giants delivered solid Q2 2026 results, but AstraZeneca is showing stronger overall financial momentum. AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN)'s Q2 revenue increased 6% year over year to $15.38 billion, supported by its Oncology franchise, which grew 18% in H1 to $14.12 billion, and its Rare Disease portfolio, which increased 13%. Core EPS rose 21% to $2.63, beating expectations, while management reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook for mid-to-high single-digit revenue growth and low double-digit Core EPS growth.
Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN) reported Q2 revenue of $10.1 billion, up 10% year over year, while non-GAAP EPS increased 4% to $6.29. Although its key growth products advanced 26%, mature products faced significant biosimilar pressure, with Prolia revenue declining 32% and XGEVA falling 34%. Amgen nevertheless raised its 2026 revenue guidance midpoint to $39.4 billion.
Overall, AZN holds the financial edge due to stronger EPS growth, broader portfolio momentum, and less exposure to the biosimilar erosion affecting AMGN's mature products.
Amgen's bull case is supported by robust growth in key products, which increased 26%, and $3.5 billion in Q2 free cash flow, providing substantial capital flexibility. Wells Fargo raised its Amgen price target to $435 from $400 on September 4, citing potential upside from HORIZON and pipeline ****** ets such as olpasiran. New Phase III VESALIUS-CV data also showed Repatha reduced the risk of death by 20% in high-risk adults without a prior heart attack or stroke, with heart attack risk reductions emerging as early as six months. However, accelerating biosimilar competition affecting legacy franchises such as Prolia and XGEVA remains a key risk to sustained margin expansion.

The pharmaceutical sector was hit with major pipeline news on September 1 when Novartis AG (NYSE:NVS) paused eight clinical trials of rap-cel, its experimental CAR-T cell therapy targeting autoimmune and neurological disorders. The suspension, effective August 24, followed three patient deaths caused by severe, life-threatening immune reactions (immune effector cell-associated hemophagocytic syndrome). Novartis is currently conducting a safety review alongside independent monitoring boards. Following the news, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY) voluntarily paused trials for its competing CAR-T treatment, zola-cel, as a precautionary measure after detecting transient inflammatory side effects.
Looking at Q2 2026 earnings, Bristol Myers Squibb is currently demonstrating stronger financial momentum. Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY) reported total revenue of $13.0 billion, up 6% year over year, driven by a 15% increase in its Growth Portfolio to $7.6 billion, led by Opdivo, Qvantig, Reblozyl, and Camzyos. Non-GAAP EPS reached $2.04, while net income totaled $3.3 billion, or $4.2 billion on a non-GAAP basis. The company also raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance from approximately $46.0–$47.5 billion to $49.0–$50.0 billion and increased its non-GAAP EPS outlook to $6.75–$7.00.
Novartis AG (NYSE:NVS), meanwhile, reported Q2 net sales of $14.4 billion, up 3% in U.S. dollars and 1% at constant currencies, supported by Kisqali and Kesimpta, which grew 43% and 32% at constant currencies, respectively. However, generic competition reduced growth by 14 percentage points, while core operating income remained flat at $5.9 billion and GAAP net income fell 19% to $3.3 billion. Novartis reaffirmed rather than raised its full-year guidance, calling for low single-digit sales growth and a low single-digit decline in core operating income.
Overall, Bristol Myers stands out as the stronger financial story this quarter, with its Growth Portfolio offsetting legacy patent-cliff pressures and supporting a guidance increase, while Novartis continues to contend with generic erosion weighing on earnings.
Novartis' bull case rests on strong double-digit growth from high-margin blockbusters such as Kisqali, Kesimpta, and Scemblix, supporting robust Q2 free cash flow of $5.6 billion. However, CAR-T safety setbacks could threaten a key pipeline platform, while intense generic competition has already reduced top-line growth by 14 percentage points.

On August 31, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD), Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO), and Humain announced that their joint AI infrastructure buildout in Saudi Arabia is officially live. The deployment links AMD's Instinct MI355X GPUs and EPYC CPUs directly with Cisco's Silicon One-based 800G switches, giving Humain a foundation to offer GPU-as-a-service across the Middle East. Beyond this immediate launch, the trio plans to deploy up to 250 MW of capacity powered by next-gen AMD MI400 Series GPUs starting in 2027, staying on track for a massive 1 GW platform by 2030.
The milestone highlights how compute and networking have fused into a single market. But financially, AMD and Cisco present two very different investment profiles.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD)'s Q2 2026 results demonstrated massive top-line expansion, driven almost entirely by data center demand. Revenue surged 50% year-over-year to $11.5 billion, while non-GAAP EPS rose 82% to $1.66. Its Data Center segment alone more than doubled to $6.7 billion (+107% YoY), accounting for 58% of total revenue as EPYC server chips and Instinct GPUs continue to gain enterprise traction.
Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO)'s Q4 and full-year FY2026 report reflected a mature cash-flow powerhouse capturing an architectural transition. Q4 revenue grew 18% YoY to a record $17.3 billion, pushing full-year revenue up 12% to $63.3 billion. Non-GAAP EPS for Q4 reached $1.22 (+23%), with FY2026 non-GAAP EPS hitting $4.33. Cisco logged $9.3 billion in AI infrastructure orders for the fiscal year (up 4.5x YoY) and maintained a non-GAAP operating margin of 35.9%, generating $14.2 billion in annual operating cash flow.
While AMD clearly leads on top-line growth velocity, Cisco holds the upper hand in raw profitability, structural gross margins (66.3%), and shareholder return via capital repurchases and dividends.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (NYSE:HPE) announced an expanded collaboration with Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL) on September 2 to scale Oracle's global AI infrastructure using HPE Juniper Networking across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data centers. The partnership builds on over a decade of joint engineering, leveraging HPE's routing and switching platforms to support OCI's expanding gigawatt-scale GPU superclusters. To align long-term incentives, HPE issued stock warrants to Oracle.
Following the announcement, Wall Street delivered fast price target hikes: Barclays' Tim Long raised HPE's target by $12 to $79 (Overweight), citing server upside and robust margins, while Morgan Stanley's Sanjit Singh boosted Oracle's target by $3 to $210 (Equal Weight), noting a tactically positive setup driven by GPUaaS demand.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (NYSE:HPE) and Oracle both delivered strong results, although Oracle operates at a significantly larger scale. HPE reported record Q3 2026 revenue of $12.2 billion, up 34% year over year, driven by strong server demand and a 74.9% increase in Networking revenue to $2.9 billion. GAAP diluted EPS reached $1.06, while strong execution led management to raise full-year FY26 revenue growth guidance to 34%-37% and its free cash flow target to at least $3.75 billion.
Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL), meanwhile, ended fiscal 2026 with record Q4 revenue of $19.2 billion, up 21% year over year, and full-year revenue of $67.4 billion, up 17%. Q4 Cloud Infrastructure (IaaS) revenue surged 93% to $5.8 billion, while full-year GAAP EPS rose 34% to $5.83 and Remaining Performance Obligations (RPO) jumped 363% to $638 billion.
Overall, ORCL leads in hyper-growth and long-term backlog, reinforcing its position as the stronger software and cloud play, while HPE is demonstrating stronger near-term hardware momentum and attractive cash flow generation for value-oriented investors.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) represent two sides of a historical silicon transition. A September 2 report from MacRumors highlighted a key milestone: Apple notified developers that universal Mac App Store apps requiring macOS 13 or later can now drop support for Intel-based Macs. Removing Intel binary slices simplifies app development and reduces download sizes. While symbolic, the move underscores Apple's completed transition to Apple Silicon and highlights Intel's diminishing footprint within Apple's high-margin ecosystem.
Financially, Apple is faring significantly better than Intel.
For Q3 2026 (ended June 27, 2026), Apple reported record quarterly revenue of $109.4 billion, up 16% year-over-year, driven by double-digit growth across iPhone, Mac, and Services. The company's gross margin reached 50.1%, supported by a 2 percentage point favorable impact from tariff refunds. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) surged 29% year-over-year to $2.02, which included a $0.11 favorable boost from tariff refunds. Operating cash flow and active installed base both set new June quarter records.
Intel's Q2 2026 financial results (ended June 27, 2026) delivered $16.1 billion in quarterly revenue, up 25% year-over-year, marking its fastest top-line growth in over 15 years. Intel reported a GAAP net loss of $11.0 billion (GAAP EPS of -$2.16), largely driven by non-cash charges and mark-to-market adjustments. However, on a non-GAAP basis, net income reached $2.2 billion ($0.42 diluted EPS), nearly doubling consensus expectations. Non-GAAP gross margin expanded to 41.8% (40.4% GAAP) on strong product mix and factory yields.
Apple's bull case centers on expanding Services margins, strong ecosystem lock-in, and the potential for Apple Intelligence to drive further demand and engagement across iOS and macOS devices, supporting high-margin growth. On the other hand, Apple faces risks from elevated valuation multiples, sluggish growth in Greater China, where Q3 revenue reached $14.7 billion, and ongoing global antitrust scrutiny over App Store fees.

On August 11, Humana Inc. (NYSE:HUM) announced that its Medicaid plan, Humana Healthy Horizons in Indiana, is collaborating with HealthStream, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSTM). The partnership expands access to workforce training for caregivers, aiming to recruit and retain talent in rural and underserved communities. While one provides healthcare coverage and the other builds the software to train healthcare workers, both companies are capitalizing on the industry's critical focus: solving caregiving shortages and optimizing healthcare delivery.
HealthStream emerges as the operationally cleaner, higher-growth performer, while Humana continues to navigate a more complex transition marked by regulatory and profitability pressures. Humana Inc. (NYSE:HUM) reported Q2 2026 GAAP EPS of $5.73 and adjusted EPS of $7.61, with an Insurance segment GAAP benefit ratio of 91.2%. The company reaffirmed its full-year adjusted EPS guidance of at least $9.00 but lowered its FY 2026 GAAP EPS forecast to at least $6.52 from $8.36, reflecting non-cash adjustments and value creation charges. Although individual Medicare Advantage membership is expected to grow approximately 25% in 2026, lower Star Ratings remain a significant drag on profitability.
HealthStream, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSTM), meanwhile, delivered record Q2 2026 results, with revenue rising 12.5% year over year to $83.7 million. Operating income increased 41.4% to $8.3 million, while net income climbed 23.8% to $6.7 million, or $0.23 per diluted share. Adjusted EBITDA also increased 16.9% to $20.6 million. The company's debt-free balance sheet, supported by $66.7 million in cash and cash equivalents, further strengthens its financial flexibility. While Humana operates at substantially greater scale, HealthStream is demonstrating stronger operational leverage, margin expansion, and balance sheet flexibility.
Humana's bull case is supported by strong Medicare Advantage membership growth, with the company targeting a 25% increase in 2026, alongside strategic expansion of its CenterWell primary care business and state Medicaid footprint, including its recent Illinois win. These initiatives could strengthen its long-term recovery and expand its addressable market. However, the bear case centers on elevated medical benefit ratios, which reached 91.2% in Q2, as well as regulatory pressures in Medicaid and continued Medicare Star Ratings headwinds. These factors could further squeeze margins and weigh on net earnings.

On September 2, NetApp Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP) reported its Q1 FY27 results, posting record quarterly net revenue of $2.03 billion. Topline for the Intelligent Data Infrastructure company expanded by 30% compared to the first quarter in FY26. The quarter saw a broad-based growth across its core segments, resulting in a record adjusted earnings per share of $2.58, and a quarterly cash dividend of $0.52 per share. The company also strengthened its existing engagements with major players, covering a range of underlying functions.
During the first quarter, all-flash array net revenue went up 47% year-over-year, hitting a record $1.3 billion mark. This drove the overall net revenue for its Hybrid Cloud segment to $1.8 billion, translating into a 30% year-over-year growth. Public Cloud, which accounts for a smaller chunk of the business, saw its net revenue climb by 28%, also setting a record of $206 million. NetApp's total billings clocked in at $2.06 billion, exhibiting a 36% growth compared to Q1 FY26, while its non-GAAP operating margin reached 31.9%.
During the quarter, NetApp finalized the acquisition of an AI-enabled data infrastructure business, DataPelago. The deal is aimed toward facilitating customers streamline and accelerate large-scale AI deployments. On the product front, the company launched StorageGRID 12.1, to support scaling of AI workload through a federated global namespace. It also introduced Instaclustr for its fully managed Model Context Protocol Gateway, along with enhanced support for Azure NetApp Files up to 64 TiB.
NetApp also revealed new features for NetApp Trident software 26.06. These include deeper integration of OpenShift Virtualization, non-disruptive iSCSI rebalancing, efficient volume placement, and additional cloud support.
Despite encouraging numbers reported during the quarter, the free cash flows settled at $401 million. This was a 35% drop compared to figures reported for Q1 FY26. Additionally, NetApp remains heavily dependent on its Hybrid Cloud business, which generated roughly 90% of quarterly revenue, while Public Cloud still contributes a relatively small fraction of the topline despite growing 28% during the recent quarter. This leads to concerns regarding how much of the company's growth story is truly cloud-native compared to conventional on-premises hardware refresh cycles that are strongly tied to AI infrastructure investments. For the underlying all-flash arrays, such AI-linked demand trend could prove to be front-loaded or cyclical in case enterprise capital expenditure decelerates.

On September 2, Michael Genovese from Rosenblatt Securities reiterated his Neutral rating for Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:CRDO). The **** yst increased his price target for the stock from $215 to $235, which implies upside potential of almost 38% as of September 4 closing. Genovese's upward adjustment in price target in based on the company's recently announced Q1 FY27 results, leading him to increase his projections for FY27 and FY28. Despite that, he has a Neutral stance because he still wants more visibility around the company's ZeroFlap Optical Transceivers proof points, as well as the incremental revenues from its acquisition of Dust Photonics in May.
Photo by Yogesh Phuyal on Unsplash
Credo's acquisition of DustPhotonics gives it a vertically integrated connectivity stack covering DSP, silicon photonics, SerDes and system integration. This allows the company to tap into both optical and electrical interconnects across the entire AI infrastructure buildout. Together with its optical DSPs and ZeroFlap transceivers, the deal is expected to be a key growth driver in FY27, supported by resilient hyperscale customer sentiment.
Following the DustPhotonics transaction, Credo reported a strong first quarter for FY27. Topline of $479 million jumped 115% compared to Q1 in FY26. Adjusted non-GAAP net income of $236.3 million was up 140% year-over-year, as the company broadens its connectivity portfolio stack. It now spans copper and optical solutions, ranging from millimeters to kilometers, which enables Credo to meet the scaling needs of AI infrastructure with energy-efficient and reliable products.
For FY27, Credo expects a strong inflection with optical revenues expected to exceed $600 million. Management projects contributions over $100 million each from silicon photonics, ZeroFlap optics, and optical DSPs. Full-year revenue growth is expected to be over 85% year-over-year. Adjusted gross margins are likely to remain consistent with fiscal 2026 levels, along with adjusted net margins of around 50%.

On September 3, a caller asked whether to rotate out of artificial intelligence stocks and add to Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY) rather than chase Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) or Cardinal Health (NYSE:CAH). Mad Money host Jim Cramer said:
Well, I'll tell you… I think it's always good to look at Lilly as a stock that I think has a lot of things that are going well, but I want to wait. Well, actually, you know, tell you the truth… It's pulled back. I think you're fine, I think you're fine to add some. I'm going to okay that. And I understand JNJ's moved a great deal. It's been a great club hit and Cardinal has been terrific, too. So, thank you for referencing those two really good ones.
Cramer was also asked to rank J&J, Lilly, and Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) by another caller. He said:
Okay, so let's take them. J&J is best of breed, AAA balance sheet, 18 drugs… You're not going to have any expiration problems, okay? Lilly has one huge drug that we know is going to be a franchise for many, many years. I do like a diversifying pattern more. And Pfizer's starting to creep up and is playing catch-up, but I need a reason to recommend it. So I'm going to say J&J and Lilly and then Pfizer.
The latest results largely explain the differences in Cramer's ranking. Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY) has the strongest growth profile by a wide margin. Second-quarter revenue jumped 48% to $23 billion, while reported EPS increased 26% to $7.94 and non-GAAP EPS rose 33% to $8.38. Mounjaro revenue rose 91% to $9.9 billion, while US Zepbound revenue increased 44% to $4.9 billion. The company also raised its 2026 revenue guidance to $85 billion-$87 billion.

Shares of big data software pioneer Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR) rallied 51.5% in August, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Palantir became a darling of the AI era over the past couple of years, and hit a very high valuation at its peak last November. Since then, the "SaaS-pocalypse" has taken a toll on the entire software sector, including Palantir, as fears of disruption from leading AI labs cut its stock price nearly in half, from its November 2025 highs to its June 2026 lows.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
The downturn set Palantir up for a bounce higher if it posted continued strong financial results. Its second-quarter August report provided that, in spades.
In the second quarter, Palantir delivered 93% revenue growth to $1.94 billion, while adjusted (non-GAAP) earnings per share grew 156% to $0.41. Both figures handily beat ****** yst expectations. This amazing growth marked a stunning acceleration from the 48% revenue growth in the year-ago quarter and the 85% growth in the first quarter of 2026. On August 5, Cytek Biosciences (NASDAQ:CTKB) reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, and the report reads like two different companies at once. Revenue climbed, margins widened, and the installed base of instruments kept expanding. At the same time, the net loss more than doubled from a year earlier and adjusted EBITDA swung negative. For a company selling hardware into cell ***** ysis labs, that split between growing revenue and growing losses is the story investors need to untangle.
Total revenue reached $48.1 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 6% from the second quarter of 2025, and the growth came from more than one source. Cytek expanded its installed base to 3,933 instruments as of June 30, 2026, adding 142 units in the quarter, and each new machine tends to pull in service and reagent sales over time. That dynamic already shows up in the numbers: recurring revenue from service and reagents hit $18.5 million in the quarter, and on a trailing 12-month basis it now makes up 35% of total revenue, up from 32% a year earlier.
Gross profit told a similar story, climbing 19% to $28.3 million, with GAAP gross margin rising to 59% from 52% and adjusted gross margin reaching 61% from 56%. Some of that lift came from a one-time tariff refund, but even stripped of it, adjusted gross margin still improved to 56%. Cytek also launched the Borealis, a 7-laser flow cytometer built for 60-color panels, and rolled out more automated configurations of its Aurora Evo line, giving the sales team new hardware to sell into the rest of 2026. Full-year revenue guidance moved up to a range of $207 million to $212 million, raising the midpoint by $1 million.
The same quarter that grew revenue also widened the losses. Operating expenses rose 15% year over year to $39.7 million, with general and administrative costs jumping 24% to $16.8 million because of litigation-related expenses, severance, and other personnel costs. R&D spending grew 10% to $9.7 million, and sales and marketing rose 9% to $13.2 million, so the increase was not confined to one line item. The loss from operations widened to $11.4 million from $10.6 million a year earlier, and net loss more than doubled to $12.2 million from $5.6 million.
Adjusted EBITDA, which strips out stock-based compensation and currency swings, swung to a $1.5 million loss from a positive $1.3 million a year earlier, after also adjusting for a write-off tied to an early-stage technology investment. The tariff refund that boosted this quarter's headline gross margin also means the underlying figures, 53% GAAP and 56% adjusted, are the more honest baseline going forward. Cash and marketable securities held roughly flat at $262.0 million as of June 30, 2026, down only slightly from $262.2 million three months earlier, so the balance sheet has not yet felt the strain.

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (NYSE:SWK) entered into a definitive agreement to sell Excel Industries to Bad Boy Mowers. Excel Industries, which includes the Hustler Turf Equipment brand, is expected to generate approximately $300 million of fiscal 2026 revenue.
The purchase price and expected proceeds were not disclosed. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions. Until closing, Excel Industries will remain in continuing operations and will not be classified as a discontinued operation.
Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (NYSE:SWK) does not expect the transaction to dilute adjusted EPS. Adjusted EPS is a company-defined non-GAAP measure calculated as diluted GAAP EPS excluding certain gains and charges, including divestiture-related items, restructuring, footprint actions, and gains or losses on business sales.
The sale advances the portfolio-simplification strategy of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (NYSE:SWK). Divesting a specialized turf-equipment platform could reduce complexity and concentrate investment on larger brands and markets.
Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (NYSE:SWK) plans to continue investing in its Outdoor business, including electrical products and high-performance residential ride-on and zero-turn mowers. The remaining portfolio includes DEWALT, CRAFTSMAN, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt and BLACK+DECKER, providing established platforms for outdoor growth.

Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) shareholders approved the proposed acquisition by CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) on September 4. The merger agreement received 39,595,867 votes in favor, compared with 66,113 against and 16,786 abstentions. Approximately 39.7 million shares, representing 80.8% of shares outstanding as of the record date, were present or represented by proxy.
The vote satisfies a major condition for the all-cash transaction. CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) agreed to pay $150 per share, valuing Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) at an enterprise value of approximately $8.5 billion. The companies continue to expect a first-quarter 2027 closing, subject to required regulatory approvals and other customary conditions.
CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) described the valuation as 11.5 times estimated 2026 adjusted EBITDA, a company-defined non-GAAP measure, including $175 million of targeted annual run-rate cost synergies expected by year three. CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) defines adjusted EBITDA as earnings from continuing operations before interest, taxes, depreciation, depletion and amortization, with exclusions for impairments, divestitures and investments, equity-method results, substantial acquisition costs and specified pension items.
The result removes the principal seller-side approval risk. The merger no longer depends on another shareholder meeting, and support was decisive among the shares represented. Financing appears less exposed than regulatory clearance: CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) plans to use available cash and committed debt financing, while completion is not subject to a financing condition.
The strategic rationale is tangible. Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) would add 109 quarries and yards, nine asphalt plants, 19 terminals and approximately 35 million tons of 2025 aggregates shipments. CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) expects more than 265 million tons of combined annualized aggregates production. Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) also brings engineered structures serving grid modernization, electrification and data-center construction.

Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $3.41 billion, up 34% year over year. Next-Generation Security annual recurring revenue, or NGS ARR, increased 63% to $9.10 billion, while remaining performance obligations rose 34% to $21.2 billion. Remaining performance obligations represent contracted revenue not yet recognized.
NGS ARR is a company-reported operating metric measuring annualized allocated revenue from active contracts, excluding hardware, legacy attached subscriptions and support, and professional services. The current portfolio includes acquired identity and observability businesses absent from the prior-year base, so the 63% increase is not an organic growth rate. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) also reported a $282 million GAAP net loss after earning $254 million a year earlier.
The commercial indicators support greater customer consolidation onto the expanded platform. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) added approximately $970 million of net new NGS ARR. The $21.2 billion RPO balance provides visibility as contracted revenue is recognized over time.
Cash generation also remained strong despite the GAAP loss. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) produced $1.36 billion of operating cash flow, up from $1.02 billion a year earlier. That cash supports integration work.
Management expects fiscal 2027 revenue of $14.10 billion to $14.20 billion, representing growth of 23% to 24%. NGS ARR is expected to reach $11.075 billion to $11.175 billion, up 22% to 23%. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) also acquired Console, an AI-native platform intended to add agentic workflows to Cortex and extend automated investigation and remediation across enterprise operations.

Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) reported fiscal second-quarter 2027 revenue of $47.0 billion, up 58% year over year. AI server orders reached $60.9 billion, while recognized AI server revenue totaled $16.4 billion and ending AI server backlog reached $95.0 billion.
Orders and backlog are company-reported operating metrics, not recognized revenue. Orders measure booked demand, while backlog represents orders awaiting conversion. The backlog provides substantial revenue visibility, although Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) did not disclose its conversion schedule.
Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) raised its fiscal 2027 revenue outlook by $25 billion to $192 billion and increased expected AI-optimized server revenue from $60 billion to $74 billion. However, cash flow from operating activities decreased 13% to $2.225 billion. First-half operating cash flow still increased 18% to $6.306 billion.
The company-defined non-GAAP cash measures require a closer look. Free cash flow was $986 million, calculated from $2.225 billion of operating cash flow less $1.239 billion of capital expenditures and capitalized software development costs, net of **** et-sale proceeds. Adjusted free cash flow was $8.149 billion after adding the $6.667 billion operating-cash-flow impact from changes in financing receivables and the $496 million net impact of capital expenditures and depreciation for equipment under operating leases. Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) excludes these Dell Financial Services items because their initial funding is largely replaced by cash inflows from related debt.
Infrastructure Solutions Group revenue increased 89% to $31.8 billion, while operating income rose 225% to $4.8 billion. The company-reported ISG operating income rate, calculated as segment operating income divided by segment revenue, improved to 15.0% from 8.8%. Scale, pricing discipline, and operating leverage are producing stronger segment economics.

Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) signed a nonbinding letter of intent under which SOCAR would pay $1.65 billion in cash, subject to customary adjustments. SOCAR would acquire non-operated working interests representing 20% of the Legacy Haynesville and 15% of the Western Haynesville upstream interests held by Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK). SOCAR would also acquire 15% of the 73% ownership interest held by Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) in Pinnacle Gas Services.
The letter of intent requires good-faith negotiations but does not obligate completion. The parties are targeting a definitive agreement by October 31, 2026, and closing by year-end, subject to negotiations, approvals, and customary conditions.
Separately, a Jerry Jones family partnership will fund 85% of the drilling and completion costs for 18 Western Haynesville wells and 80% for nine Legacy Haynesville wells. The total 27-well program is expected to cost approximately $450 million over 12 months. After a 15% return on investment, 50% of the interest covered by the venture will revert to Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK).
If the SOCAR transaction closes, Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) estimates that the proceeds would reduce company-defined non-GAAP net debt from $3.1 billion to $1.5 billion as of June 30, 2026. Net debt is calculated as total debt less cash and cash equivalents. The approximately $1.6 billion reduction would nearly halve the measure and could improve financial flexibility.
The drilling venture allows development to continue without equivalent near-term cash funding. Following completion of the SOCAR transaction, Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) would retain operatorship of the upstream ****** ets and control of Pinnacle Gas Services. Drilling should provide volumes to Pinnacle and help delineate the 545,000 net acres in the Western Haynesville.

Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:CRDO) reported fiscal first-quarter 2027 revenue of $479.0 million, up 9.6% sequentially. Management said the company's connectivity portfolio now spans copper and optical products, while total revenue increased 114.7% year over year. GAAP gross margin fell to 64.5% from 68.2% in the preceding quarter and 67.4% one year earlier.
GAAP operating expenses increased to $188.4 million from $142.2 million sequentially, while GAAP operating income declined to $120.7 million from $155.8 million. Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:CRDO) nevertheless expects another quarter of growth, guiding fiscal second-quarter revenue to $525 million to $535 million. The $530 million midpoint implies approximately 10.6% sequential expansion.
The question is whether revenue growth and the broader AI connectivity portfolio can offset acquisition-related costs and rising operating expenses.
Revenue scale remains the central strength. Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:CRDO) offers active electrical cables, optical transceivers, digital signal processors, silicon-photonics components, retimers, and chip-to-chip connectivity. These products address connections spanning short distances inside AI systems through longer links across clusters.
Absolute GAAP gross profit still increased to $309.1 million from $298.1 million sequentially despite the lower margin. Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:CRDO) ended the quarter with $764.3 million in cash and short-term investments, down from approximately $1.44 billion following completion of the DustPhotonics acquisition during the quarter. The remaining liquidity supports research, product development, and capacity requirements.

MongoDB, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) reported fiscal second-quarter revenue of $771.8 million, up 30% year over year. Atlas revenue increased approximately 29% to $565.9 million, while Enterprise Advanced and other revenue rose approximately 36% to $181.2 million.
Remaining performance obligations, or RPO, increased 91% to $1.52 billion. RPO represents the aggregate transaction price in contracts allocated to performance obligations not delivered or partially undelivered. MongoDB, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) omits contracts lasting 12 months or less from the disclosure. Current RPO, the portion expected to be recognized within 12 months, increased 73% to $797.3 million.
GAAP operating income reached $28.4 million, compared with a $65.3 million loss a year earlier. MongoDB, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) also raised fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to $2.99 billion to $3.03 billion from $2.92 billion to $2.96 billion, with the second-half increase attributed mainly to Atlas.
Growth was broad. Atlas expanded 29%, while Enterprise Advanced and other revenue grew faster at 36%. Total customers increased to more than 70,600 from more than 59,900 a year earlier, and Atlas customers reached more than 69,300.
The margin profile also improved. GAAP gross margin expanded to 74% from 71%, while revenue growth outpaced operating-expense growth enough to produce positive GAAP operating income. This shows MongoDB, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) can scale infrastructure, research and sales costs more slowly than revenue.

On August 4, Essential Utilities (NYSE:WTRG) reported second-quarter results that read like two different stories stapled together. Revenue climbed, the dividend grew for the 36th time in 35 years, and the merger with American Water inched closer to the finish line. But earnings per share actually dipped from a year earlier, and the company had to strip out merger costs just to show flat profitability. For a utility this steady, that split is worth a closer look.
Essential's regulated water segment posted revenue of $357.5 million in the quarter, up 7.6% from $332.3 million a year earlier, and the whole company's first-half revenue climbed 7.2% to nearly $1.4 billion. Much of that growth came from rate cases: state regulators approved $43.9 million in new annual water revenue across Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina and Indiana, plus $12.7 million more for the gas business in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Another $79.7 million in water rate requests and a $163.2 million gas case in Pennsylvania, tied to replacing aging pipelines, are still working through the process.
The company keeps buying its way into new customers, too. In May, it closed a $4.9 million wastewater deal in Bastrop County, Texas, and it has signed agreements worth roughly $282 million to add over 200,000 more customers in Pennsylvania, Texas, North Carolina and New Jersey, including the $276.5 million purchase of Philadelphia-area sewer authority DELCORA. Since 2015, acquisitions have added more than 138,000 customers to Essential's base.
Layer on the pending American Water merger, which cleared Virginia and Ohio regulators this year after nearly unanimous shareholder approval in February, and Essential is positioning itself as a much larger multi-state utility by early 2027. The board's decision to raise the dividend 5.25% to $0.3606 per share, continuing a streak of 36 increases over 35 years, signals confidence that this growth is durable.
Look past the top line and the picture gets less flattering. Second quarter net income actually fell to $105.7 million from $107.8 million a year ago, pulling GAAP earnings per share down to $0.37 from $0.38. Essential had to report an adjusted $0.38 figure just to exclude merger-related costs and show earnings roughly matching last year's. The slide is sharper over six months: net income dropped to $330.1 million, or $1.16 per share, from $391.6 million, or $1.41 per share, in the first half of 2025.

On August 6, Nova (NASDAQ:NVMI) reported second-quarter 2026 results for the three months ended June 30, and the numbers marked a new high point for the semiconductor metrology company. Revenue hit $255.0 million, up 8% from the first quarter of 2026 and 16% higher than the second quarter of 2025. GAAP net income reached $75 million, while non-GAAP net income climbed to $86.5 million. For a company built around measuring the tiniest details in chip manufacturing, the quarter itself was anything but small.
The headline figures tell part of the story, but the breakdown underneath is where the quarter gets interesting. GAAP earnings per diluted share reached $2.20 in the second quarter of 2026, up from $2.04 in the first quarter of 2026 and $2.14 a year earlier in the second quarter of 2025. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share went further, hitting $2.51 in the second quarter of 2026 compared with $2.33 in the first quarter of 2026 and $2.20 in the second quarter of 2025. That is back-to-back sequential growth on both a GAAP and non-GAAP basis, not just a single strong quarter against an easy comparison.
Two product lines did the heavy lifting. Nova posted record revenue from its advanced logic devices business, which it tied to the industry's shift toward Gate-All-Around transistor architecture and rising demand for advanced process nodes. Advanced packaging solutions also hit a record, supported by capacity additions across both logic and memory manufacturing. Those are two distinct growth engines firing in the same quarter, which matters more than a single hot product line would.
Management is not treating this as a one-off. For the third quarter of 2026, the period ending September 30, Nova guided to revenue of $277 million to $287 million, GAAP diluted EPS of $2.46 to $2.61, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $2.70 to $2.85. At the midpoint, that outlook points to another double-digit sequential jump in sales. President and CEO Gaby Waisman framed the quarter as validation of the company's long-term plan, citing broad-based customer demand, continued market share gains, and deeper engagement across leading-edge device segments as the drivers behind what he described as increased visibility into coming quarters.
The results were not clean across every line. Gross margin came in at 56.5% in the second quarter of 2026, down from 57.7% in the first quarter of 2026 and 57.8% in the second quarter of 2025. That is a decline on both a sequential and year-over-year basis even as revenue set records, which means the mix of what Nova sold this quarter carried lower profitability than what it sold a year ago.

Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ:WDAY) reported fiscal second-quarter revenue of $2.65 billion, up nearly 13% year over year and above the $2.64 billion ***** ysts expected, Reuters reported, citing LSEG data. Subscription revenue rose 13.9% to $2.471 billion. Chief Commercial Officer Rob Enslin said, "Over half of our net new wins in the second quarter signed up for one or more AI solutions," and AI products drove more than $100 million in new annual contract value, over 25% of all new ACV closed in the quarter. Non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 31.1%, up 212 basis points year over year. CFO Zane Rowe said Workday expects fiscal 2028 subscription revenue to grow by nearly 11%, in line with the pace expected for the second half of fiscal 2027.
The beat came with quantified AI monetization behind it. AI products already account for more than 25% of new annual contract value and are approaching $600 million in annual recurring revenue. It is evidence that customers are paying for AI capabilities today rather than Workday simply promising future upside.
Profitability is expanding at the same time growth continues, not at growth's expense. Non-GAAP operating margin rose to 31.1%, up 212 basis points from a year earlier. It shows Workday's AI investment is being absorbed without eroding the bottom line, a combination that strengthens the case that AI is additive rather than just a cost center.
Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ:WDAY)'s reporting is directly countering the disruption narrative that has weighed on enterprise software stocks. Reuters described the results as "easing investor fears of artificial intelligence disruption," and Enslin's comment that AI is now "a key reason companies are modernizing their core on Workday" shows AI is pulling customers toward Workday's platform rather than away from it.
Forward revenue visibility is improving, not just this quarter's headline number. The 12-month subscription revenue backlog grew 14.2% to $9.03 billion. It gives Workday a larger, growing pipeline of already-contracted future revenue to draw on.

On September 4, Bruker (NASDAQ:BRKR) said its energy and supercon technologies unit, Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies (or BEST), had struck a supply collaboration with Luvata Materials & Solutions to scale up production of RRP superconductors for magnetic confinement fusion. The deal lands right as governments and private developers from Europe to South Korea race to build fusion demonstration plants, and it comes a month after Bruker's core scientific instruments business showed its first real signs of stabilizing. Two very different stories are converging inside one stock.
The Luvata tie-up is not Bruker's first rodeo in fusion. BEST and Luvata previously supplied materials and expertise to ITER, the international fusion megaproject, and to the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, two of the most advanced superconducting plasma facilities ever built. Their RRP superconductors, wires built with the Rod-Restack Process to withstand field strengths between 12 and 20 Tesla, already run inside CERN's Large Hadron Collider and in ultra-high field NMR magnets. That track record matters now because fusion programs are ramping across Europe, the Americas, China, ***** an and South Korea, and Gauss Fusion has already begun evaluating RRP superconductors for its Gauss Industrial Demonstrator and GIGA power plant platform.
The segment is already delivering. On August 4, Bruker reported that BEST revenue climbed 11.9% year over year to $74.2 million in the second quarter, with organic growth of 8.9% net of intercompany eliminations, while first-half BEST revenue rose 12.3% to $141 million. That growth showed up in Bruker's bottom line too. Non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 14.1% from 9% a year earlier, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share grew to $0.49 from $0.32, results strong enough that management kept its full-year non-GAAP EPS growth target of 15% to 17% intact.
None of that shows up on a GAAP basis. Bruker's second-quarter GAAP operating results swung to a $65.3 million loss, versus $11.9 million of GAAP operating income a year earlier, dragged down largely by a $134.9 million non-cash goodwill charge. GAAP diluted earnings per share swung to a loss of $0.41 from a profit of $0.05, and for the first half of 2026 the company posted a GAAP diluted loss per share of $0.39. Impairments do not spend cash, but they are a reminder that some of what Bruker paid for in past acquisitions is now being written down.
