Oil prices fell this morning on news of a pause in strikes between the U.S. and Iran. WTI crude oil fell almost 7% to $83.15 a barrel, boosting market sentiment and lifting the Dow slightly. However, investors are braced for further volatility and will be watching the Federal Reserve meeting this week. The Fed is widely expected to leave rates unchanged in July, but inflationary pressures caused by ongoing tensions in the Middle East and high spending by tech companies could prompt it to raise rates before the end of the year.
On the other side, renewed artificial intelligence (AI) valuation concerns weighed on markets. This week will bring earnings from Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Apple, and Amazon, and investors will be paying close attention to capital expenditure plans. Aliyah Boston's strong start against the Seattle Storm came to a sudden and concerning end Tuesday night.
The Indiana Fever center left the game during the second quarter after crashing hard to the floor at Climate Pledge Arena. Boston landed directly on her right knee and immediately reached for the injured area as teammates and members of Indiana's training staff rushed over to check on her.
Boston was eventually helped to her feet and taken to the locker room. Although the Fever initially listed her as questionable to return, she did not check back into Indiana's 103-93 victory. The scene was especially troubling because Boston has already battled a lower right leg injury this season. She played only five minutes in Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game, giving her additional time to rest before the Fever resumed their regular-season schedule.
Boston was injured midway through the second quarter while running a pick-and-roll with Caitlin Clark. After setting a screen, Boston rolled toward the basket and appeared to get tangled up with Storm rookie Flau'jae Johnson. Her momentum carried her forward, and her right knee absorbed much of the impact when she hit the court.

NEW YORK — The New York Yankees finally added a catcher on Tuesday … via a minor league contract.
The team signed veteran backstop Christian Bethancourt and ***** igned him to Triple-A before beating the White Sox, 3-2, in Chicago. The move shouldn't have any impact on the Yankees' pursuit of a righty-swinging catcher prior to the Aug. 3 trade deadline, though options appear limited for them and a handful of other needy clubs.
While Bethancourt is a right-handed hitter, he's ideally just another experienced Triple-A depth catcher for the Yankees alongside J.C. Escarra, a lefty. That depth could prove useful down the road since big league backup Ali Sánchez is out of minor league options.
Sánchez, a right-handed hitter who crushed the first homer of his career in Tuesday's win, would likely be forced out if the Yankees trade for a catcher to pair with the lefty-swinging Austin Wells.
Bethancourt has played in parts of eight big league seasons with the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, Athletics, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs, but he hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2024. He had a .775 OPS (.783 vs. righties, .736 vs. lefties) over 59 games for the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate this year.

On Tuesday, a pair of Seattle veterans made the case for grass during training-camp press conferences.
Defensive lineman Leonard Williams was asked whether seeing temporary grass at Lumen Field for the World Cup made him wish the grass would remain permanently.
"For sure," Williams told reporters, "I think the whole NFL felt that way. We obviously prefer to be on grass. It's less impact, better on the body. I understand there's a lot of things that go into having grass in the stadium that I don't fully understand yet, but if it was up to a player and it just came down to grass or turf, we obviously prefer grass."
Receiver Cooper Kupp was initially more concise. "That would be sweet," he said with a laugh.

WR Kayshon Boutte: Boutte continues to make big plays on a daily basis. On Tuesday, his biggest moment came when he caught a deep touchdown from Drake Maye during 11-on-11s. Lining up in his typical spot as an X-receiver, the fourth-year man was able to get a step on safety Kevin Byard on a go route and showed some tremendous ball tracking and concentration skills to complete the over-the-shoulder catch for a score of 40-plus yards.
It was not Boutte's only reception on the day. He also caught a throw from Maye over the middle during 7-on-7s and added pair of catches when backup Tommy DeVito targeted him on out routes. It was an active day for a player who, through four practices, has been New England's most impactful wide receiver.
QB Drake Maye: The Patriots' quarterback started a bit slowly and his connection with A.J. Brown remains a work in progress, but he overall had a good day — an encouraging development after struggling with accuracy during the last full-speed practice on Sunday. Maye got into a rhythm during 11-on-11s, finding Boutte on his long touchdowns and also connecting with Hunter Henry and Rhamondre Stevenson for long completions.

CHICAGO (AP) — The expectations are not new for Lincoln Riley or Southern Cal. He faced them as a first-time head coach at Oklahoma before arriving at USC, and the Trojans have faced them nearly every year for generations.
Still, in Riley's five years at USC, those expectations have perhaps never been higher than they are this fall. With more than a dozen contributors returning, including star quarterback Jayden Maiava, the country's top-ranked freshman class and a handful of impact transfers, a lot of the pieces that were missing during the first few years of Riley's tenure have now fallen into place, on paper at least.
"It's what it's supposed to feel like here," Riley said Tuesday at Big Ten football media days. "I've said this multiple times: I mean, the only two places that I've been a head coach at were blue-blood schools that have the highest of expectations. Honestly, I've really not known anything different. We're a product of our own experiences. That's been mine.
"Every year, I expect to win. I expect us to win. I expect us to compete for and win championships. That doesn't change. I certainly will give you what has changed: We're more equipped than at any point in the previous few years. That's not a hope or wish, those are facts. There's a lot of facts to back that up."
Riley cited institutional alignment including NIL support and a new $200 million practice facility, the addition of new defensive coordinator and longtime TCU head coach Gary Patterson and the overall depth of talent on the roster among his reasons for optimism that he can get USC back to where it is used to being.

An early look at the Madden 27 ratings is here, and there are some surprises for fans.
One of those comes when taking a look at the highest-rated rookies in the game. There are several recognizable names among that grouping, and unsurprisingly, every name on the list was selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. However, there is one prominent player selected in the first round this year that was shockingly omitted from the top 10 rated rookies.
Despite capturing the Heisman Trophy last year and being selected by the Las Vegas Raiders as the No. 1 overall draft pick, Fernando Mendoza was not among the top 10 rated rookies in the new game. The cut-off to make that list was a 78 overall rating, while Mendoza only sits at a 74 overall – missing the top 10 by just a few points.
But reports indicate that the franchise plans to run with Kirk Cousins as the starter this year, so his rating should reflect that he may not make as big an impact in his rookie season. And no one is going to care about his Madden rating in July if he does make the field and plays well this season. It is just a game, after all.
But someone has to be among the top 10 rated rookies in the game, so who made that list? Well, at the top of the list was running back Jeremiyah Love, the third overall selection in the draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Love procured an 82 overall rating in the game. Joining him with an 82 rating was safety Caleb Downs, who was picked by the Dallas Cowboys with the 11th overall pick in the draft.

I broke down the 2027 scouting classes in my early summer scouting series, and the room has a ton of potential with a long list of potential standout players. I broke down the offense and defense in articles and I suggest reading those for a broad aspect of the room. Brock Bowers remains an elite tight end, and arguably the best in the NFL, but the Raiders do have some questions behind Bowers after the 2026 season. Former 2nd rounder Michael Mayer is sent to be a free agent, and with a good season he should be looking at a decent contract as a TE2, blocking specialist. Additionally, Ian Thomas is set to be a free agent and Las Vegas also has former UDFA Carter Runyon, who's flashed, but it's likely even with retaining Mayer the Raiders should add another TE.
These rankings are extremely early, and they will evolve over not only the summer but the next 8-10 months throughout the season, and into draft season. Some lists will feature 10, 15, 20, or more ranked prospects but I'll include others on the list below to note.
Jamari Johnson, Oregon – 6'5/260, R-So
Johnson was a key focal point of the Ducks offense last year with 32 receptions, 510 yards, and 3 TD after coming over from Louisville. He's better than Kenyon Sadiq, and in my opinion has a chance to be a better prospect than Bowers. Johnson has absurd movement skills, he's shown exceptional length, fires off the ball, and Johnson also shows a ton of quickness and movement in his route running. Johnson has fluid hips, he makes his cuts well, and Johnson shows an innate ability to adjust to the ball in the air and come down with tough catches. Where he makes a ton of impact is as a run blocker, where Johnson uses his length and athleticism with good technique, and a ton of lower body power to get off the line of scrimmage and into ***** e. Johnson will need to continue his play as the starter at TE, instead of the supplementary piece, but he has the core traits, athleticism, and technique to be a top 10 pick.

Once again on Monday night, New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe came under immense scrutiny regarding his defensive miscue. However, the Chicago White Sox failed to make a comeback out of it.
In the ninth inning with one out remaining and the Yankees leading by five runs, Volpe dropped a routine fly ball off Colson Montgomery. As a result, White Sox's leading runner, Sam Antonacci, came around to score as the game continued. Yankees reliever Camilo Doval was taken out of the game, and David Bednar had to walk in to get the final out. In the end, the Yankees won 9-5.
Despite Volpe's error not impacting the result of the game significantly, the Yankees shortstop received harsh treatment from fans.
"The never ending proof of why he should be nowhere near the majors. HE IS NOT FIT FOR THIS LEVEL OF BALL Yankees!!!" one fan wrote. "Can somebody, ANYBODY, send him down for good or trade him already?!?!? What's it gonna take?!?!?"
"He had no business trying to catch that. Jazz [Chisholm Jr.] should've been there or an outfielder. This is ridiculous," another added.

Evan Williams is one of the Green Bay Packers' biggest draft success stories in recent times as a fourth-round pick who had an impact on their defense almost immediately as a rookie and has since settled in as a valued starter.
Not one of the more heralded draft prospects, the Packers traded up to get Williams back in 2024 and were proven right in their conviction on the former Oregon and Fresno State safety.
After a strong first year, Williams followed it up in 2025, as shown by his percentile ranks at the safety position in his first and second seasons.
Williams only started seven games as a rookie, as he was originally behind Javon Bullard, before he made the move to the slot. From there, Williams never gave up the starting safety spot opposite Xavier McKinney, starting all but one game in 2025.
His snap count almost doubled from 533 to 979 between his first and second year, and even with the larger workload, there was no dip in Williams' performance.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz on Sunday blamed former President Biden for the Pentagon being low on munitions but denied that the depletion is negatively impacting the war with Iran.
"We have to take a step back here in that a lot of stockpiles were depleted not only from what we gave Ukraine over the last … four or five years," Waltz told host Kristen Welker on NBC News's "Meet the Press."
Waltz also said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth "inherited a depleted situation" from the Biden administration due to U.S. strikes on the Houthis — which the Trump administration carried out for nearly two months last year due to the Yemeni terrorist group targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea.
NBC News reported Friday that U.S. military commanders have been selectively choosing which Iranian missiles and explosive-packed drones to intercept amid an effort to preserve the Pentagon's diminishing supply of weapons that block projectiles from reaching their targets.

The U.S. dollar, euro and British pound enter a pivotal week as investors prepare for the Federal Reserve's July 29 to 30 meeting and the ECB's decision last week while new data comes through. Most **** ysts expect that the Fed will leave rates where they are, although the market will be watching out for clues from Chair Jerome Powell given that the latest US data has confirmed the strength of the economy.
June retail sales were up by 0.2% on the month, while the control group increased by 0.4%, and initial claims for unemployment benefits dropped to 208,000, a three-month low, underlining the strength of the consumer and the labour market. This week brings out the second-quarter GDP, the PCE inflation print for June and July non-farm payrolls which could alter thinking around the second half of the year.
The ECB decided to keep its deposit rate at 2.25% as it sees inflation edging toward its 2% target while remaining data-dependent. ECB President Christine Lagarde said growth remains weak, with members continuing to **** s the impact of the economic effect of trade and higher energy costs on the economic environment.
Sterling remains supported by expectations that the Bank of England will proceed cautiously after it kept Bank Rate at 3.75%, and it sees the UK policymakers juggle between curbing inflation and a steady wage-growth and a cooling labour market. UK mortgage approvals, consumer credit and business surveys are released this week as they provide evidence for the economy ahead of the next Bank of England meeting.
The U.S. Dollar Index is maintaining a healthy uptrend after bouncing off support in the 100.50 zone along the uptrend line. Currently, the index trades at 101.28, keeping the 50-day EMA (101.12) and 100-day EMA (101.01) beneath the index level. The RSI is sitting at 53.

Both Alphabet and Tesla posted negative quarterly free cash flow, but their profitability, balance sheets and stock swings after earnings show quite different dangers.
Tesla (TSLA) and Alphabet (GOOGL) got the same tough message from Wall Street to start: Investors are no longer prepared to pay for artificial intelligence spending without asking about its cash flow impact.
But their stocks tell two distinct tales presently.
Shares of Tesla sank more than 14% on July 23, while Alphabet slid almost 7% after both companies disclosed negative quarterly free cash flow and detailed plans for increased spending. The selloff also dragged on the broader market, as the Magnificent Seven account for over 30% of the S&P 500's value.
But by July 27, Alphabet was up about 3%, trading near $328.60 in late-morning trading. Tesla was last down about 1.4% at $308.76.

When Florida State was preparing for the 2025 season, defensive tackle Kevin Wynn was looked at as one of the top incoming freshmen and a player who could have an immediate impact. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned for the former four-star prospect.
Wynn suffered an injury late in fall camp that held him out of FSU's win against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the season opener. He ended up playing in just four games last season and recorded one tackle. Now, Wynn is healthy, and he's also about 30 pounds lighter at 317.
According to defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, Wynn has made the most of his opportunities during the summer. He feels that Wynn has taken more strides than anyone.
"Juju, I think, had the biggest jump this summer. He's lost 40 pounds," Knighton said via Warchant. "He's moving well, which is helping his body with the day-to-day. Now, he's able to, like I said, focus on football. He's in great shape, and he's ready to show he can be an every-down player."
Wynn was an absolute force during his high school days at Greene County High School in Greensboro, Georgia. He racked up 84 tackles for loss and 14 sacks (seven as a senior). He displayed an incredible burst and great power, which is why he lived behind the line of scrimmage and became a top 100 recruit.

Girona FC will maintain this season the private bus service for match days at the Montilivi Municipal Stadium. This will be the eighth consecutive season in which the club organizes this service, which since its inception has been fully funded by Girona FC.
Despite the economic impact of the relegation, Girona FC has decided to maintain this service, in collaboration with the Girona-based company Teisa, considering that 96% of its users are club members. The entity will continue to cover a significant part of the operational cost, although, starting this season, the service will have a cost for all users. The price will be 1.5 euros per trip or 2 euros for a round-trip ticket.
This measure will allow the continuation of a service that Girona FC has sustained for eight seasons with its own resources and still considers a key tool to facilitate access to Montilivi and promote more sustainable mobility on match days.
Bus Route
The bus route will maintain its usual itinerary and will start in front of the Girona Courthouse. The Mas Gri stop will remain, although the park-and-ride parking will not be available due to ongoing construction. As an alternative, parking will be available in the commercial area located just in front. Before the matches, the Club will share on social media the schedules and the buses that are adapted and equipped with ramps.

The Las Vegas Raiders are set to start training camp within the next month, and as they gear up for an interesting 2026 season, a few players and/or position groups can really make or break the season. The Raiders added a plethora of talent over the last off-season, with the Raiders likely to only return starters at left & right tackle, tight end, runningback, and one wide receiver on offense. Defensively, they likely return 3 starers on the defensive line, one at safety, one at corner, and none at linebacker. Needless, to say the Raiders are turning over the roster with talent, and for a roster that has been void of young talent in previous years, that was crucial. Additionally, they see three or four of their special teams playmakers likely change hands with Daniel Carlson and Jacob Bobenmoyer out, while new kick and punt returners should take the helm as well.

The Raiders parted ways with Daniel Carlson after 8 seasons, and Carlson saw his FG rate fall steadily since 2020 going from 94.3% to 81.5% in 2025. Additionally, his abilities to hit from 50+ also fell down the board competing just 5 of 8 in 2025 after 8 of 11 in 2024, and 11 of 13 in 2022. The Raiders bring in two options, with veteran Matt Gay looking to rebound his career under DeCamillis, and rookie Kansei Matsuzawa dubbed the "Tokyo Toe, and Special-K". Gay converted 17 of his 23 attempts (74%) in 2025 though he was 4/4 in 2 games with the 49ers. He's struggled to regain his form from 2021-2022 where he 2as a Pro Bowler converting 60/64 field goals including 12/14 from 50+. Those two seasons came under new Raiders special teams coordinator, Joe DeCamillis.

As for Matsuzawa, the 2025 consensus All-American went 39/45 in his Hawaii career and another 72/72 on his PAT's. Matsuzawa is relatively new to kicking, having only done so for 5 years now, and he's not been tested from 50+ routinely which will be a big test in the NFL. Matsuzawa has the leg, and he's shown elite accuracy, but also kicking in the NFL comes with it's own challenges. The Raiders have seen their ability, and confidence, to hit field goals dip the last two seasons which has impacted not just their scores, record, but also playcalling. Las Vegas needs to be consistent at kicker to help ease pressure on the offense, and open up Klint Kubiak's playbook.
Dareke Young comes to Las Vegas following Klint Kubiak, and there's a plethora of jobs for him to take on in Las Vegas. The 6'2, 230 receiver has just 72 receiving yards in his career, but he may have a chance to take the "X" role for Klint Kubiak if he can stay consistent which has a chance to lead to 400-600 yards. Additionally, Young's best impact comes on special teams. He's been a proven gunner with a career 24 tackles and 3 FF including 2 FR, and 4 tackles in the playoffs. Young can provide as a kick

After holding a lighter practice on Tuesday, the New England Patriots are expected to ramp back up the intensity for Day 4 of training camp on Tuesday.
The defense got the better of the offense during the last competitive team period, and quarterback Drake Maye threw his first interception of training camp on an intended pass to star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Safety Craig Woodson, who has continued to show significant growth as an NFL defensive back, came up with the takeaway.
All eyes will be on Maye and the offense to see how they bounce back against the stingy Patriots defense. Can the third-year quarterback finally get things clicking with Brown on the field? Will some of the other new faces, like wideout Romeo Doubs and tight end Eli Raridon make more of an impact?

Ohio State has inked a jersey patch sponsorship deal with JPMorgan Chase, sources tell On3. The Buckeyes become the latest college football brand to add a jersey patch ahead of the 2026 season.
The deal spans the full athletic department and all 36 varsity sports. The investment also provides new resources to support Ohio State athletes through NIL opportunities, enhances the Buckeyes' overall competitive success and facilitates academic partnerships across the university.
Ohio State becomes one of the biggest college football brands to date to add a jersey patch to its uniform. The JPMorgan Chase logo will sit above the Big Ten patch on the front of Ohio State's jerseys.
JPMorgan Chase has a longstanding relationship with central Ohio, as one of Columbus' largest private employers. The firm has brought on more than 1,700 Ohio State alumni in the past five years, too. The deal was brokered by Learfield.
