Hotchkis & Wiley, an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for the "Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. Equity markets posted strong returns in the second quarter of 2026, with the Russell Midcap Index rising 13.8% and the Russell Midcap Value Index returning 13.4%, despite concerns about inflation, a hawkish Federal Reserve, and rising oil prices due to the Iran conflict. Narrow market leadership was evident, particularly semiconductor stocks and other stocks in the AI sector, which saw returns exceeding 100%. The Firm favors quality businesses with attractive valuations, believing that fears regarding AI's impact are overstated. The Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund lagged the Russell Midcap Value Index, achieving a 4.74% return in the second quarter, primarily due to underperformance in technology and energy sectors, while stock selection in healthcare contributed positively. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund highlighted Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS). Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS), a deepwater oil and gas exploration and production company, detracted from the Fund's performance during the quarter due to crude oil price weakness. On August 3, 2026, Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS) closed at $2.53 per share. One-month return of Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS) was 14.48%, and its shares gained 37.50% over the past 52 weeks. Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS) has a market capitalization of $1.50 billion.
Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund stated the following regarding Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS) is an independent offshore E&P company with producing ******* ets in the US Gulf of Mexico and Ghana. We own it because its offshore operating expertise, quality ******* ets, attractive reinvestment economics, and compelling valuation create a favorable risk/reward profile. The stock declined during Q2 due to broader crude oil price weakness following the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. We believe oil undersupply could continue for months and that prices could remain above normal levels, even if the reopening progresses smoothly. Given the company's strong ******* ets, high returns on investment, attractive valuation, and reduced liquidity concerns, our investment thesis remains intact."
Kosmos Energy Ltd. (NYSE:KOS) is not on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds Heading Into 2026. According to our database, 43 hedge fund portfolios held Kosmos Energy Ltd. Baron Capital, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Baron Health Care Fund". A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Fund gained 11.99% during the quarter, compared with the 10.48% gain for the Russell 3000 Health Care Index and the 15.44% gain for the Russell 3000 Index. Since inception, the Fund appreciated 10.61% on an annualized basis, compared with 10.02% for the Benchmark and 14.83% for the Index. Strong stock selection in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, health care equipment, and life sciences tools and services supported the Fund's outperformance, although limited exposure to managed care stocks reduced relative returns. The Fund remains positive on health care due to improving biotechnology funding, strong acquisition activity, recovering managed care margins, and growth from an aging population, chronic disease, medical innovation, and higher health care spending. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know the best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Baron Health Care Fund highlighted argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX). argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) is a commercial-stage biopharma company that develops various therapies for the treatment of autoimmune diseases in the United States and internationally. On August 03, 2026, argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) closed at $830.79 per share. The one-month return of argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) was -9.69% and its shares gained 23.10% over the past 52 weeks. argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) has a market capitalization of $51.66 billion with a 52-week trading range between $631.47 - $953.58.
Baron Health Care Fund stated the following regarding argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Biotechnology company argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) is best known for developing Vyvgart, the leading FcRn inhibitor for the treatment of autoimmune conditions. Shares rose after a period of prior weakness, which may have been partly driven by the retirement of longtime CEO Tim Van Hauwermeiren in early 2026. We view the transition to Karen Massey, who previously led the company's operations, as largely non-disruptive and believe she is well positioned to continue executing the company's strategy. Shares also benefited from optimism ahead of several clinical readouts, including data from studies of Vyvgart in immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy and dermatomyositis, expected in the third quarter of 2026, as well as empasibrupart in multifocal motor neuropathy, expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Vyvgart continues to launch well in generalized myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, where we believe it has established itself as an important treatment option. We expect Vyvgart to demonstrate efficacy across an expanding range of autoantibody-driven autoimmune conditions over time and remain encouraged by argenx's pipeline progress."

The Los Angeles Dodgers have two pitchers back on the mound who have been missing all year long — Gavin Stone and Bobby Miller.
Miller and Stone have not pitched competitively throughout the season, leaving them on the outskirts of the 40-man roster on the 60-day injured list.
However, they are both with the Oklahoma City Comets in Triple-A, emerging once again as the postseason nears.
Miller and Stone were grinding in Arizona at the Dodgers' complex, and now, they have made enough progress to join the Comets, according to Alex Freedman, broadcaster for the minor league affiliate.

The Trucking ***** ociation Executives Council (TAEC) says a year of coordinated federal and state enforcement has resulted in sweeping changes to cross-border trucking, commercial driver licensing and highway safety.
In its "Trucking Resurgence: The Fight for Fairness and Safety Progress Report," released July 23, the organization said actions by federal and state authorities and law enforcement agencies have significantly strengthened oversight of cross-border trucking operations and commercial driver qualifications.
TAEC represents executives from state trucking ***** ociations across the country, including Arizona, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Iowa, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Texas.
The report builds on the group's "Trucking Resurgence" action plan released in 2025 calling for tougher enforcement against what it describes as bad actors exploiting weaknesses in trucking regulations.
Among the report's biggest areas of progress is what TAEC calls "Cross-Border Workforce Integrity."

Aaron Judge has been cleared to begin light workout activity, and the New York Yankees captain said he will return this season from the rib injury that's sidelined him since May 31.
"Oh, I'll be back this season. I don't know why I wouldn't be," the three-time AL MVP said Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. "That was always the plan to come back — sooner than later, definitely. But I never had a thought of not playing this year."
Judge was on the field in baseball gear Wednesday afternoon, stretching, jogging and doing shuffle slides with a resistance band. He was given the green light to take a step forward in his recovery progression after undergoing his latest scan Tuesday.
"Better news. Healing up. So, you get a chance to progress a little bit, do some running, do some more upper-body stuff, and kind of progress towards getting back out on the field and swinging it," he said. "I wish it was completely healed and the fracture was gone and start playing tomorrow, but that's not the case. But, great step forward."

Ashton Daniels took his first reps inside Doak Campbell Stadium during Florida State football's scrimmage on Tuesday, Aug. 4, and the Seminoles' coaching staff liked what the fifth-year put on tape.
Both head coach Mike Norvell and offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr were complimentary of Daniels' growth from spring practice to preseason. The duo said the transfer signal-caller made some big throws in timely situations during the scrimmage.
"He was completely locked in. We had some big third-down situations and him just being comfortable in the pocket, going through his progressions and putting the ball where it needed to be," Harris said in a press conference a day after the scrimmage.
"There were times when our defense gave us certain looks, and he had to slow things down to get us the right play. And he did that flawlessly."
The pre-snap reads and adjustments are an area both Harris and Norvell noted, and it's a positive for Daniels. Turnovers have been an issue for him in his career, with 22 interceptions and 16 fumbles, so if he's recognizing what the defense is throwing at him quicker, that could keep turnover numbers down and get the ball in the hands of FSU's playmakers.

NEW YORK — Aaron Judge jogged and stretched on the field at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, marking a significant step in his recovery from a broken rib.
Judge received clearance to begin light activity — including running and upper-body resistance work — after medical scans Tuesday showed progress with his injured rib.
The fracture is not completely healed, Judge said, but it has improved to a point where the Yankees slugger could ramp up his workload.
"It was great," Judge said after his on-field work. "I'm moving fine, moving great. My biggest thing was I wanted to start testing it a little bit and see what we've got, especially after getting some good news, so we can get one step closer."
Judge, 34, has not appeared in a game since May 31 due to the right rib stress fracture, an injury he believes he suffered while diving in right field more than a month before then.

The company is undergoing its largest portfolio refresh in a decade, transitioning over 30% of the North American MDA portfolio to new products to drive premium mix and market share.
Operational progress was supported by a 100 basis point tailwind in net costs as the company moved past the heavy inventory reduction actions taken in the first quarter.
Strategic footprint changes in Iowa, Brazil, and Mexico are being implemented to accelerate vertical integration and automation, though the vast majority of benefits are expected in 2027.

The Zambia women's national team have failed to reach the knockout stage of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations and will thus miss out on competing in the 2027 women's World Cup.
Despite beating regional rival Malawi 2-1 in their final WAFCON group-stage match Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco, the Copper Queens were eliminated after Nigeria defeated Egypt in the other Group C match. Zambia was eliminated based on the total number of goals scored among the top three teams.
As a result, WAFCON debutants Malawi have reached the knockout stage of the continental tournament and kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 Women's World Cup.
The final minutes of both fixtures were climactic. Malawi, Nigeria (who are 10-time and reigning WAFCON champions) and Zambia were all level on six points as both games progressed. This eliminated the head-to-head deciding factor between them in favor of the number of goals each of those teams scored against each other.
Malawi upset Nigeria with a 3-2 victory in their first WAFCON match on July 28, thrusting the Super Falcons in a nervy third-place position in their group following Zambia's 6-0 victory over Egypt the same day. Nigeria steadied themselves on Aug. 1 with a crucial 1-0 victory over Zambia, but still finished the second matchday in third place behind their opponents. Malawi secured their second victory of the tournament with a 1-0 win over Egypt that kept them top of the group heading into the final match day.

The Seattle Seahawks held their seventh of 10 public training camp practices on Wednesday. It was another warm (and, due to the wildfire smoke, hazy) day at team headquarters in Renton, and the VMAC berm was filled to capacity yet again for what was a non-padded practice for the reigning Super Bowl champions. While the pads may not have been there, there was still a lot to take in.

Former Teen Mom: Young + Pregnant cast member Rachel Beaver says she exchanged private messages with Lil Wayne while attempting to arrange an in-person meeting with the rapper.
Screenshots published by entertainment outlets appear to show discussions about flights, childcare and scheduling the proposed visit around Beaver's birthday. The plans never progressed beyond the messages, and the two did not meet.
The Ashley's Reality Roundup first published Beaver's account on June 3rd. TMZ revisited the story approximately two months later and released additional details from the alleged exchange.
The Ashley said it reviewed videos showing that the initial direct messages came from Wayne's official Instagram account. Wayne has not publicly confirmed that he participated in the subsequent text conversations.
Beaver told TMZ that she contacted Wayne after people watching one of her TikTok livestreams encouraged her to message him. Her opening message referenced former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans, who previously claimed that Wayne had flown her to Los Angeles.

Given the recent changes in the Detroit Lions' linebacker room, Derrick Barnes will be a key figure for the 2026 season. Alex Anzalone departed in the offseason and rookie Jimmy Rolder will miss some time due to a recent hamstring injury.
According to Detroit Lions senior writer and insider Tim Twentyman, Barnes has been expanding his role on defense.
Through the first couple days of training camp, we've seen Barnes play an increased role in passing downs when the Lions are in nickel (five defensive backs and two linebackers). He had the biggest play for Detroit's defense during Thursday's practice when he stepped in front of and intercepted a Jared Goff pass intended for tight end Sam LaPorta in a team period. - Tim Twentyman, DetroitLions.com
"The way our defense is designed on that play, the position I'm playing, the job I'm doing on that specific play, it's kind of hard to see where I am in the coverage we're in and what my role is for the quarterback," Barnes said of last week's interception.
"I was kind of reading JG (Goff) a little bit, his eye progression, seeing a few routes coming across the field and I was like, 'Maybe I can just get in the window.' Really just did my job."

NEW YORK — There was an Aaron Judge sighting in the Yankee Stadium outfield Wednesday afternoon, and the Yankees captain wasn't just standing around.
He was stretching and running.
This was progress.
Sidelined since June 2 with a fractured right rib, the three-time MVP was reimaged again Tuesday, and the MRI results this time showed enough healing to add outside running to his rehabbing, which still doesn't include hitting and throwing.
"The minute they said, 'We're going to start running,' I said, 'OK, I'll meet you outside,'" Judge said before the Yankees-Cardinals series finale.

Real Madrid have agreed a €135 million ($156 million) deal with RB Leipzig for teenage Ivory Coast forward Yan Diomande, the Press ***** ociation understands.
Diomande's rapid rise for Leipzig in the Bundesliga last season led to a host of Europe's top clubs queuing up to buy him and Real appear to have won the race for his signature after tabling a fee of €135 million.
Diomande will become the most expensive African footballer ever should the deal be completed.
Paris St Germain pulled out of the race to sign him last month, leaving the way clear for Madrid to close in on the 19-year-old, who scored 13 goals and made 10 ***** ists for Leipzig during the 2025-26 campaign.
Diomande's extraordinary progress is a classic rags-to-riches story. He had trials with Chelsea, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Rangers before being offered a contract with Spanish side Leganes in March 2025.

Two veteran defensive players who are recovering from injuries are on the track to play in Michigan's season opener versus Western Michigan on Sept. 6 — defensive end John Henry Daley and safety Rod Moore.
Moore has played in just three games since the start of the 2024 season due to a torn ACL and lingering knee issues that required multiple surgeries. Henry Daley, a Utah transfer, had 11.5 sacks and two forced fumbles last season before rupturing his achilles in November.
Michigan defensive coordinator Jay Hill spoke about the progress that Moore and Daley have made, saying he hopes "that they're ready for week one" following a strong first practice of fall camp. Hill noted that all players coming back from an injury are on a "pitch count" at the start of camp, but it sounds as if Moore and Daley both stood out when they did take snaps.
Hill on Moore: "It was pretty fun to see Rod Moore out there again today. I think it was his third play, and he got an interception, so hopefully that's a phenomenal trend for him. He stood out."
Hill on Daley: "He's coming off a very intense rehab, and that's a tough injury. He's about as far along in this progression as I've ever seen anybody with this injury, which is a tribute to John and how he works and the toughness he has. We're going to have him on the field. The way he looked and moved today, we're going to have him on the field. And he's going to help us."

NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge has been cleared to begin light workout activity, and the New York Yankees captain said he will return this season from the rib injury that's sidelined him since May 31.

Still, it will be a while before Judge is back in the lineup. He must first advance to taking swings, and neither he nor Yankees manager Aaron Boone offered a target date for the slugger's return.

CLEVELAND — When the Mets offense is clicking, they have dominated this season.
With Monday night's 6-2 victory, they are now 33-5 this season when they have scored five or more runs. The only problem is that their 38 games with that many runs are the fewest in the National League.
The Mets will be hoping to continue to find that level of production in the second game of the series at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday night at Progressive Field.
In Monday's win, Luis Torrens homered and drove in four runs. Carson Benge tagged a 451-foot home run - the longest blast at Progressive Field since Aaron Judge on April 14, 2024. Bo Bichette added his first home run since June 24.
The Mets will be hoping that is a sign of a changing tide following the MLB trade deadline when they dealt eight major league players, including seven pitchers.

The Washington Commanders added a big-name veteran to the receiving corps with the signing of WR Stefon Diggs to a one-year, $12 million contract on Wednesday. The move comes as NFL teams progress through the first full week of training camps — with the first preseason game on Thursday between the Panthers and Cardinals.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
Adding Diggs gives the Commanders — and QB Jayden Daniels — another weapon in the passing game next to Terry McLaurin. The Yahoo Fantasy Forecast wasted no time getting into it and breaking down what the move means for 2026 fantasy football.
Chris Allen believes that Washington as a landing spot for Diggs makes a lot of sense when you looked at the depth chart. Treylon Burks was set to be the No. 2 wideout behind McLaurin. Behind those two was going to be a hodge podge of names including Van Jefferson, Dyami Brown and Luke McCaffrey.
Adding Diggs gives new OC David Blough a player who can play that Z-receiver role or work out of the slot, per Allen. Hindsight may be 20/20 but this move makes a lot of sense.

The Nasdaq reversed into the red, losing 0.4%. The Dow rose more than 400 points, or 0.8%, but pared its gain. The S&P 500 trimmed its advance to 0.1%, with six of its 11 sectors moving lower. Tech gained but lagged the rise in the defensive materials and health sectors. The S&P 500 and the Dow ended with record closing highs on Tuesday. Small caps turned lower Wednesday, pushing the Russell 2000 down 0.4%.
On the Dow, Walt Disney (DIS) climbed following the entertainment giant's third-quarter earnings report, but pared gains. The Nasdaq was hurt by slides in Astera Labs (ALAB) and ******* eX, as each fell more than 10%, and a loss of 6% in Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
Reports Wednesday citing Iran's Foreign Ministry said Iran reached a memorandum of understanding related to coordinates for routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
Stocks opened higher Wednesday after President Donald Trump late Tuesday told reporters there had been progress in talks about reopening the Strait of Hormuz and that an agreement could be announced Wednesday or Thursday.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., one of Congress' most outspoken progressives and a member of the "Squad," won the 12th Congressional District's Democratic primary Tuesday evening, teeing up her re-election for a fifth term.
Tlaib's primary victory against Michigan state lawmaker Shanelle Jackson and Inkster Mayor Byron Nolen continues a string of victories for progressives as the Democratic Party's far-left wing enjoys ***** ounced primary election success that has strengthened the hand of its coalition. It has also widened the range of positions held by their candidates.
When Tlaib and fellow Squad members joined the House of Representatives in 2019, their campaigns stood out for their far-left views. Tlaib and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in particular, stood out because of their membership in the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
Eight years later, the DSA has backed Tlaib again.

Rodri has made his preference unambiguous: Real Madrid or nothing, according to Diario AS, with Barcelona's recent enquiry failing to register as a genuine alternative in the Manchester City midfielder's thinking. The Spanish newspaper reports that the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner is unfazed by the Blaugrana's interest and has a singular desire to return to his home city and play in white.
Rodri has not been coy about his intentions. Speaking publicly earlier in the saga, he made clear that declining an offer from one of the world's best clubs was not something he was prepared to do, and that the door on his end remained open. That has not changed since Barcelona entered the picture.
Diario AS report that despite an evident on-field chemistry with several Barcelona players through the Spain national team – Pedri and Lamine Yamal among them – Rodri has given no indication that Camp Nou holds any appeal. The only shirt he is thinking about is Real Madrid's. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich had also been linked at various points, but both pulled back from a move once it became clear he wanted the white shirt, according to Goal.
Barcelona's interest, per Goal citing Cadena SER, has not yet progressed to a formal approach to Manchester City. Barcelona made contact with Rodri's entourage but have yet to speak to City directly. Frenkie de Jong's injury sparked Barcelona's interest in Rodri, though the Catalan club have since learned where his priority lies. Barcelona's focus remains on completing the signing of Cancelo and a striker following Robert Lewandowski's departure, and Goal notes that after spending 110 million euros on Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Baesio, finding a further 75 million euros for Rodri would be very difficult.
The awkward reality for Rodri is that his preference is not yet matched by equal enthusiasm from Los Blancos. Diario AS reported earlier in the year that Rodri did not feature in the club's future plans, and The Times noted that interest at the Bernabéu had cooled, with concerns about his fitness underpinning the hesitation.

Barcelona are making one more run at Julian Alvarez, and the message from Madrid still looks pretty simple, pay huge money and probably still get told no. According to TeamTalk, the Catalan club are trying to force the issue before Joan Laporta's August 10 deadline, while **** nal are staying close enough to act if the door opens.
This is where the story gets interesting for **** nal. Barcelona may be making the noise, but **** nal appear to have the cleaner route if Alvarez genuinely wants out. TeamTalk reports that **** nal are "ensuring they remain firmly in the picture" and have "continued to position themselves as the leading alternative should Barcelona's pursuit ultimately collapse." That matters, because transfer sagas are rarely won by the club making the most headlines. They are won by the club best placed when reality bites.

Barcelona's senior transfer staff have reportedly travelled to Madrid to try to break the stalemate. Deco and Joao Amaral are said to be meeting Alvarez's agent, Fernando Hidalgo, and hoping for progress with Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil. The problem is obvious. Atletico have already shown their stance, and it has not shifted.
The opening Barcelona offer was "worth around €100million (£85.7m / $115.4m)." That was not enough. A fresh bid is now expected at "around €115million (£98.6m / $132.7m)." Even that may change very little. Atletico have "no intention of selling Alvarez" and, crucially, "have no desire to strengthen either Barcelona or Real."
