Former Florida center Micah Handlogten has found a new home, although his return to college basketball still depends on receiving another year of eligibility.
Handlogten has committed to Ole Miss, according to multiple reports, giving the 7-foot-1-inch big man a chance to remain in the SEC after spending the past three seasons with the Gators. He entered the transfer portal in April following Florida's 2025-26 season.
One question surrounding Handlogten's eligibility is whether he signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Utah Jazz. There are conflicting reports on whether Handlogten actually put pen to paper, which could hurt his case for a return to the college ranks.
Before coming to Florida, Handlogten spent his freshman year at Marshall, where he averaged 7.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game and was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year.

Jalen Washington had been on track to playing a fifth season in college for Tennessee basketball, but the Court of Appeals of Tennessee issued an order staying the temporary injunction that would have awarded him an extra year of eligibility on Aug. 26, making him ineligible for now.
"After considering all the relevant factors and, in particular, the NCAA's likelihood of success on the merits based on the legal issues presented, we conclude the trial court's August 19, 2026 order denying a stay pending appeal constitutes an abuse of discretion," the order from the Court of Appeals states.
Washington was a key addition for the Vols, who boast a talented backcourt but thin frontcourt. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound center transferred to Vanderbilt for the 2025-26 season and averaged career-highs in points (8.9), rebounds (5.6) and blocks (1.3) per game while shooting 61.8% from 2-point range. He would be the Vols' best post player if he's eligible.
A federal court in Tennessee ruled on July 31 that Washington and 16 other college basketball players, who are currently suing the NCAA over new eligibility rules, would suffer "immediate and irreparable harm" if they were not allowed a fifth year of eligibility. That opened the door for Washington to join UT's roster on Aug. 3.

The person spoke to The **** ociated Press on condition of anonymity because the team had not confirmed the agreement. ESPN reported that **** inga's contract includes a player option for the second season, which would give the seventh overall pick from the 2021 draft an opportunity to hit the free agent market in a year.
Kuminga will fill an obvious need in the frontcourt for the Timberwolves, who traded Julius Randle and Naz Reid as part of their offseason acquisition of point guard LaMelo Ball.
Kuminga, who will turn 24 on Oct. 6, averaged a career-best 16.1 points during the 2023-24 season for the Golden State Warriors, who drafted the Congo native but never found the right fit for him before ultimately trading him to the Atlanta Hawks in February. **** inga fell out of favor with Warriors coach Steve Kerr and out of the rotation last season, making his departure an inevitability. He played in only seven of his last 38 games with the Warriors.

Kim Mulkey lost a key piece to her frontcourt suddenly on Monday.
LSU women's basketball announced that center Kate Koval opted to leave the program due to personal reasons.
"Kate came to see me on Sunday and told me that after much consideration, she will be leaving the program for personal reasons," Mulkey said in a statement. "We will respect her privacy on her decision, but we had a long talk about it, and it was a hard decision for her. I know it is hard because she loves LSU. Kate is a great person. She has to do what she feels is right for her, and we fully support her in that. We wish her all the best."
Koval transferred in to play for LSU last season after starting her career at Notre Dame. She started 17 games and averaged 8.3 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 56% from the field per contest. She helped LSU reach the Sweet 16, too. It's unclear where Koval will end up playing next, though she can not join a new program for the 2026-27 campaign.
While specifics of her departure aren't known, there is speculation that it has to do with LSU's signing of 17-year-old Anna Minaeva.

The The 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward was granted a fifth year of eligibility by a judge in Louisville on Friday, and announced his commitment to Kentucky yesterday, providing a major boost to the Kentucky frontcourt.
Last season at Missouri, Mitchell averaged just over 18 points, 5 rebounds and over 3.5 **** ists in nearly 34 minutes per game while being named Second Team All-SEC.

BYU added a massive late addition to its roster as Michigan State big man Jaxon Kohler announced his commitment to BYU. Kohler is eligible to play this coming season as the state of California lawsuit he was part of received a temporary injunction allowing fifth-year graduated players college eligibility. The NCAA may appeal the decision.
The American Fork, Utah native is LDS and was one of the best big men in the Big 10 last year. Kohler spent all four seasons at Michigan State, going from bench player his first two seasons to starting 69 games his last two seasons for Tom Izzo. Kohler went from a back-to-basket big man his first two year two a stretch big his last season. As a senior, Kohler averaged 12.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and shot 39% from three and and 87% from the FT line. Kohler was 0-5 combined his first two seasons from three, and as a senior shot 58-139. While Bam Adebayo is a star for the Heat, he is not the typical one who can carry a team with his offensive play. OXFORD — Antwone Woolfolk will get another season with Miami University.
Miami men's basketball coach Travis Steele announced Sunday that Woolfolk will return for the 2026-27 season, giving the RedHawks an experienced frontcourt piece from last season's historic team.
Woolfolk, an honorable mention All-Mid-American Conference selection last season, will use his fifth season of eligibility while continuing work toward his degree.
The forward averaged 9.8 points and 5.3 rebounds during the 2025-26 season, helping Miami complete an undefeated regular season, capture the MAC regular-season championship and earn an NCAA Tournament berth.

It was well known within Rutgers basketball circles that Nwuli's mother, who lives in the Las Vegas area, has been battling cancer so he'll likely stay in that area for the time being. Two of the Pirates' springtime commitments never made it to campus: 6-foot-8 Rutgers transfer Chris Nwuli and 6-foot-9 Brazilian and G League forward Nathan Mariano.
It was well known within Rutgers basketball circles that Nwuli's mother, who lives in the Las Vegas area, has been battling cancer so he'll likely stay in that area for the time being. Aggressive on both ends and embracing of defense, Nwuli seemed like a good fit for the Pirates and projected to contribute as a key part of the frontcourt rotation.
Holloway left it this way: "He has some personal issues he has to iron out and he won't be with us this year."
Mariano, who saw time with Brazil's senior national team in FIBA Americup and FIBA World Cup qualifying competition and in the G League averaged 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 29.4 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from 3-point range, hasn't passed eligibility muster with the NCAA.

The Heat gave up much of their future to make the blockbuster move, leaving them with no future and very little depth. While their frontcourt is probably the league's best, the backcourt lacks perimeter scoring and, I can confidently say, they are the worst backcourt in the league.

Godfrey announced his decision on Instagram Sunday, positing "Committed" with a photo of him in an Arizona jersey.
Godfrey averaged 12.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in his return to Clemson last season after a year at Georgia. He played his first two seasons at Clemson in backup roles.
Arizona went to the Final Four for the first time in 30 years last season and lost several key players from that team, including bruising power forward Tobe Awaka. After LeBron James announced that he was leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, it led to teams showing interest around the league. Even if he is already 41, LeBron is still one of the most appealing players in the league due to his winning pedigree and tremendous talent.
When he saw the Philadelphia 76ers trade for Jaylen Brown, he saw a team that showed ambition. He was enamored by that, which led to him eventually signing with the 76ers. It was a tough pill to swallow for some teams that wanted to sign him, including his former team, the Miami Heat.
As one of the Heat's stars, Adebayo would have loved to have James setting up for lobs and pick-and-rolls. It would have been an electric trio between Bam, LeBron, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Unfortunately, it did not pan out for the team from South Beach.

Trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo was a major move for the Miami Heat. With that move, he and Bam Adebayo form a fearsome partnership that could be the best in the league. However, it does pose a problem because they might not be as dynamic on offense as many duos.
Defensively, there should not be any problem with Adebayo and Antetokounmpo. Unfortunately, that is only half the game, so offensively, they might have some limits because they do not have the best perimeter shooting.
It is fair to have high expectations for the Heat now because they have an elite duo in the frontcourt. Pat Riley and the Heat's front office did have to send a significant package to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Giannis, so the team is lacking depth.
Trading away the likes of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kel'el Ware, and Kasparas Jakucionis was a big investment for Miami. It was an understandable decision, but it does hamper their offense because those players were big-time contributors for head coach Erik Spoelstra.

Morrow has averaged 11.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.7 ****** ists per game, while shooting 42.1% from the field and 28.4% from three.
