Klay Thompson was ice cold in his first preseason with the Miami Heat, but the four-time NBA champion isn't fazed by his shooting struggles heading into the 2026-27 regular season.
Speaking after Sunday's practice at Kaseya Center, Thompson maintained that he expects to shoot at his usual level once the games "count," brushing aside concerns about being too far over the hill entering his age-36 campaign.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra also voiced his confidence in the veteran shooting guard as anticipation builds for Wednesday's season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Brought in over the offseason to help create ***** e around Heat stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo on Miami's revamped roster, Thompson looked out of sorts throughout the preseason, shooting 7-for-26 overall (26.9%) and 3-for-20 from 3-point range (15.0%).
It was a small sample size, as Thompson appeared in four of Miami's five exhibition contests and never played into the second half of any of them as the Heat went 3-2. Still, his shooting blunders went viral on social media, fueling ridicule.

Heat news: Giannis, Bam Adebayo working out as teammates is a big Miami flex appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The world is yet to find out just what kind of havoc the tandem of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo can wreak on the basketball court together as Miami Heat teammates. But the rest of the NBA has a clear reason to be scared of the duo, which is already building chemistry on the court.
Miami recently shared a video showing the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Antetokounmpo and Adebayo going down to work in the gym together.
The Heat pulle off the biggest trade of the NBA offseason, as they won the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes. They sent a huge package composed of Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, a couple of future first-round picks, a pick swap and a future second-rounder to the Milwaukee Bucks in July in order to acquire Antetokounmpo and veteran power forward Bobby Portis.
"The Greek Freak" will turn 32 years old in December, but he is very much still at the top of his game. In what turned out to be his final season with the Bucks, the 10-time NBA All-Star averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 ***** ists, while shooting 62.4 percent from the field. He only played in 36 games as he was limited by injuries, but he's healthy now and should be out on the court when the Heat make their 2026-27 NBA season debut.

Klay Thompson's father has warned the critics of his son ahead of the new season.
Following a disappointing two-year stint with the Dallas Mavericks, Klay Thompson agreed to a contract buyout with the Western Conference side.
At 36, Thompson is undoubtedly out of his prime, but it didn't take long for the 4x NBA champion to find his next destination.
Thompson quickly agreed to a two-year deal with the Miami Heat as he is all set to become teammates with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

Heat predicted sign $37M injury-prone veteran, ex-Lakers reject that Bam Adebayo is pleading for originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Miami Heat are having quite the offseason, and it has only gotten better as the summer has gone on. Miami is looking to make serious noise this season and is in a good position after its latest acquisitions.
The Heat have added several veterans who should eventually develop strong chemistry after spending more time together. One player Miami's center, Bam Adebayo, reportedly wants the team to bring back is Gabe Vincent.
"As the Miami Heat continue to explore ways to build out the supporting cast around Giannis Antetokounmpo in year one, Gabe Vincent is a name that has naturally come up. And, according to some recent reporting, he's a former Heat player that Bam Adebayo would love to see get a second chapter with the organization," AUCH's Michael Saenz wrote.
In a recent report, NBA insider Brett Siegel mentioned that a Vincent reunion with Miami is likely.

The Miami Heat are known as a storied franchise in the NBA. Under Pat Riley's influence in the '90s, the "Heat Culture" became the team's foundation and philosophy. Although Riley transitioned to a front-office role later in his career, Miami's philosophy remained as Erik Spoelstra took over as head coach in 2008.
Although the Miami Heat were competitive under Pat Riley, the Heat became a different monster under Erik Spoelstra. From managing superstars like Dwyane Wade and LeBron James to nurturing the newer generation of stars like Bam Adebayo, Spoelstra has been one of the most impactful coaches in NBA history.
Currently, Erik Spoelstra also serves as head coach for the USA men's national team ahead of the 2028 Olympics, which will mark the end of his three-year cycle in the role. Coincidentally, 2028 will also mark 20 years since Spoelstra took over the Heat head coaching role, and according to Heat insider Ira Winderman, it may be the ideal opportunity for him to make a move. Winderman shared:
"When you talk about the Heat turnaround, after the 2028 Los Angeles games, to me, it would be the natural time for Spo to maybe move to the front office to step back."
"Right now, I know he loves it. It would make sense. But who knows? Maybe he's one of those coaching lifers. Maybe he's Hubie, and he's going to come back, you know, in a different way and keep doing that, just like I think Pat Riley will never fade away."

In the past couple of months of the NBA offseason, we have seen teams fall out of championship contention, and others rise into the conversation. In an offseason highlighted by multiple blockbuster deals and a superteam formed in Philadelphia, the majority of the big moves had already been made. Yet, there were still a few All-Stars to be claimed.
For the most part, NBA fans had an idea of who the contenders were going to be this season. That was until Klay Thompson and DeMar DeRozan each found new homes for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season.

The Heat made news that shook the NBA world earlier this offseason, trading draft capital and young talent for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. This immediately put the Heat into contention, yet they had no significant talent outside of their frontcourt duo of Giannis and Bam Adebayo.

Why Heat fans are ecstatic after Giannis Antetokounmpo's latest post on Instagram originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
As the new Miami Heat superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo knows he has a big season ahead of him in the 2026-27 campaign. Considering that everyone has expected him to leave the Milwaukee Bucks for a long while now, they have even bigger expectations for him to deliver on that hype.
While it seems like a huge challenge for any player to overcome, Giannis seems giddy to prove everyone wrong. A two-time MVP showing a lot of confidence is nothing new, but he has been quite vocal about how he expects the 2026-27 season to go.
While a lot of people's attention is on the Philadelphia 76ers because of the superteam they have created in the offseason, that should not take away from what the Heat just did. They have gone from being a mediocre team over the past few seasons to becoming a potential contender.
Getting a two-time MVP does that, but it also shows that Giannis himself believes in the project. He is ecstatic to be part of the Heat now, and he will be ready to showcase why he and Bam Adebayo are arguably the best frontcourt partnership in the league.

Lakers get bad news in pursuit of veteran star originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers are in a bit of a bind as they try to piece together a post-LeBron James roster. It's not easy losing a franchise star player, one of the main faces of the franchise, after eight years together. So, the Lakers are in need of some big changes.
As the offseason continues, reports have indicated that the Lakers had their eyes on Klay Thompson as a target to get high-level perimeter shooting. He would also add a much-needed veteran presence to their roster.
Those dreams vanished on Friday. NBA insider Shams Charania has revealed that Thompson is "expected to sign with the Miami Heat after he clears waivers upon a contract buyout with the Dallas Mavericks," per sources from ESPN.
That hurts. It's not something the Lakers can't overcome. Missing out on Thompson means a lost opportunity for the Lakers to add a sharpshooter to their lineup. It also strengthens one of their rival teams, which already has stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

The Miami Heat have already undergone one of the largest NBA improvements this offseason after winning the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes. However, the Eastern Conference franchise is at it again with another former league champion, Klay Thompson.
The former Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks star is embarking on a new chapter for the 2026-27 season with Miami. In many ways it's a perfect situation for a veteran player joining a team with a lot of young talent.
ESPN's Sham Charania broke the news Friday as Thompson clears waivers following his time in Dallas. The franchise opted for a contract buyout for the league veteran after spending two seasons with the Mavs.
Meanwhile, Thompson won't be expected to be the main scorer given Giannis' presence as well as other players like Bam Adebayo and Norman Powell.

Heat 'desperate' to sign $298M generational shooter, ex-Warriors future Hall of Famer, 5x All-Star originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Miami Heat have had a disappointing offseason, to say the least, even after adding a player like Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster deal. The free-agency portion of the summer, however, has gone about as poorly as it possibly could have.
After missing out on several targets, Miami is now heavily interested in Klay Thompson. The Heat have made it clear that bringing in the four-time NBA champion is a major priority.
"If the Mavericks don't find a trade for Klay Thompson, his representation will likely request a buyout. There appears to be mutual interest between the Heat and Thompson, who could maximize his shooting alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, plus potentially LeBron James," NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.
As of now, Thompson is believed to be interested in two potential destinations: the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami. Both teams could be attractive options for the veteran as he considers his next destination.

Tyrese Haliburton reveals that Giannis Antetokounmpo is impossibly hard to scheme against originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Now that he is on the Miami Heat, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a weapon for the team. Everyone in the NBA is familiar with his impact when he was playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, but now he will be the star in South Beach alongside Bam Adebayo.
He is one of the most dominant players in the league, so it is not surprising that other players are wary of him and the Heat moving forward. As the Bucks' fiercest rivals, Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers were quite familiar with the Greek Freak.
Over the years, the Bucks and Pacers became fierce rivals. While the Bucks have had tremendous success, it seems Antetokounmpo and the team struggled to win against Haliburton's Pacers. It was a fierce rivalry with trash talk on both sides, but it seems Indiana won the war, especially with the two postseason series victories.
Despite how it looked, the Pacers did struggle against the Bucks from time to time. They might have a lot of wins against them, but head coach Rick Carlisle was hard at work making adjustments, setting up schemes, and preparing his team to play against the Bucks.

The Boston Celtics spent the early part of the offseason battling the Miami Heat in the trade market, as they both pursued Giannis Antetokounmpo. Unfortunately for the Celtics, the Heat won that battle, landing the two-time MVP for a haul of young players and draft picks.
On Christmas Day, Boston and Miami will go head-to-head once again, except this time it will be on the court. If we ******* ume that this will be the first meeting between the two teams, Boston will be forced to face up to the reality of what could have been, had they landed Giannis in the summer. After all, it was missing out on Giannis that ultimately acted as the catalyst for Brad Stevens pulling off a highly controversial deal to send Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Games between Boston and Miami always carry some extra weight for the fans. The two teams are rivals and consistently find themselves battling for position in the Eastern Conference. While the Heat aren't expected to be a contender this season, having Giannis on the roster means they can't be counted out, especially with Bam Adebayo anchoring the floor next to him.
For the Celtics, the matchup against Miami will be both a good barometer of the level they're performing at, and what they're missing in Giannis. On the flip side, it could also be a reminder of how difficult it would have been to build a contender around an aging Giannis who needs multiple high-level shooters around him in order to be anywhere near his best.
Either way, Christmas will provide Celtics fans with a glimpse of how things could have been. The only question is whether they'll come away from that game wishing Boston won that trade battle, or grateful that things turned out the way they did, even though it ultimately turned the Sixers into a powerhouse.

In the wake of offering candor regarding his parting from the Miami Heat, All-Star guard Norman Powell has found himself in the middle of a social-media firestorm over his offseason relocation to the Chicago Bulls.
In a wide-ranging interview with Fadeaway World, Powell expressed disappointment of not being offered the opportunity to return for a second season with the Heat, other than if he accepted a minimum-scale contract.
"I know everybody was hoping I was coming back. Then there was stuff coming out about me possibly not being in Miami. They never came to the table," Powell said of his free agency. "So Chicago came to the table along with a few other teams to sit down and talk with my agents just about what the best deal is and what is the outlook on the future for me and my basketball career."
Powell, 33, wound up with a two-year, $44 million contract with the Bulls, with only the first season guaranteed, making it possible he could be relocated before February's NBA trade deadline.
The Heat could have had the resources to match that 2026-27 salary from the Bulls had Bobby Portis Jr. not been included in the deal with the Milwaukee Bucks that landed Giannis Antetokounmpo. Instead, the oversized contracts of Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo left the Heat short on cap ******* e and Powell on the outside after a single Heat season.

Erik Spoelstra celebrates Giannis Antetokounmpo's fit within the Heat's system originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After a few seasons of struggles, the Miami Heat finally have a megastar to lead the charge for them. While Bam Adebayo is a star for the Heat, he is not the typical one who can carry a team with his offensive play. That is where Giannis Antetokounmpo comes in, who is one of the league's best players.
Head coach Erik Spoelstra is clearly excited to have Antetokounmpo on his team because he has a star for his system. Adebayo will continue to feature in a prominent role, but he will be the second option behind the two-time league MVP.
The Heat have had championship aspirations even before Giannis joined the team. Unfortunately, they lacked the talent to fully compete with the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Pair that with constant injuries, and you have the Heat's inconsistency throughout the past few seasons.
Now that they have Antetokounmpo, they have a superstar who can carry his team to victories almost every night. Defensively, they are one of the most dangerous teams in the league because teams will be terrified of playing against a frontcourt duo of Adebayo and Antetokounmpo.

D'Angelo Russell points out how Davion Mitchell could break out for the Heat originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Since the Miami Heat made big moves in the offseason, the focus has been on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. This has led to a deeper dive for people into the Heat's supporting cast, and it is quite different from what they had in the past few years.
Tyler Herro was the primary option in their guard rotation, but since he got traded for Antetokounmpo, it is on Davion Mitchell to step up. Mitchell has been a reliable guard for a long while, but it seems he is due for a breakout season in the 2026-27 campaign.
For his entire career, Mitchell has been known to be a defensive stopper. He is one of the toughest matchups for any guard because he is strong and quick to react with his rotations. He is also quite smart, which is why he was such a lauded prospect from his college days.
As one of the guards he has to guard all the time, D'Angelo Russell knows how tough it is to play against Mitchell. That is why he sees Mitchell having a big-time season in the 2026-27 campaign because he has seen up close how good Mitchell has gotten.

Between the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the draft, and free agency negotiations starting on June 30, the Miami Heat are keeping themselves busy building a new contender in the East. So what has Miami done so far, and what is next for them?
On June 22, the Miami Heat traded Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, two future first-round picks, a future pick swap, and a future second-round pick for Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis.
This trade marks the beginning of a new Miami Heat, finally pairing a superstar with franchise player Bam Adebayo. Bobby Portis also comes in as a strong backup for the frontcourt duo. A few Heat players have expressed their excitement to play alongside Antetokounmpo. Davion Mitchell, for example, has already been to Greece to work out with Giannis.
Antetokounmpo and Portis sat down for their intro pressers on July 16. Bobby Portis began at 12:30 p.m. and described his excitement in playing for a team he rooted for growing up, "I was born to be a Heatle…my favorite team growing up."
Giannis Antetokounmpo's presser followed at 3:00 p.m. Throughout the presser, he reiterated his work ethic and established his desire to bring championships to the 305, "One of my goals is to win a lot of championships…I think this is the best route for me to do that."

Simone Fontecchio admits he passed up more lucrative offers to stay with the Miami Heat originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
With the Miami Heat desperate for perimeter shooting, they got a big-time steal with how they re-signed Simone Fontecchio. On the current roster, he is their best three-point shooter. In the 70 games he played in the 2025-26 season, he shot 37.5% on his 4.7 attempts per game.
Now that he will be playing alongside Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo, he will have more freedom to move off the ball and get more open shots. Considering he is one of the few forwards who can be relied upon to hit shots, the Heat could have struck gold with the veteran minimum deal they got for Fontecchio.
The modern NBA team needs shooters around their best players to maximize the offense. In this current Heat offense, it is mostly about driving into the paint and finishing at the rim. The two primary options are Adebayo and Antetokounmpo, who are both known to score in the paint or at least from the mid-range area.
It seems they are well aware of the narrative surrounding their perimeter shooting, which is why they have had a lot of workouts in the past few weeks with their shooting. However, they do have some solutions at home, including Fontecchio, who could be a crucial player moving forward.

The 2016-17 Warriors might be the greatest team of all time, but Kevin Durant believes the 2026-27 76ers are as good on paper. Durant implied that's what he thought during a USA Basketball event on Sunday, and he doubled down on Monday when replying to a fan on Instagram who said the two teams "ain't close." "Ain't close lmao," Durant replied. "Joel, mvp recently. Jaylen brown, recent finals mvp, Tyrese Maxey, all star the last 3 years. We all know what bron does. Klay Thompson, never a mvp candidate in nothing, 22ppg. Draymond, 14ppg 7 rebounds 6 ***** ist, Steph a mvp just like Joel was. I don't get how the warriors team is better on paper."

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo discussed the current status of his relationship with LeBron James after the 41-year-old snubbed Miami for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Adebayo's first public comments after James' decision included him sharing his top-five players of all time, while naming four of LeBron's past opponents.
However, the center's comments about his relationship with James indicate they still have a good bond with each other.
Adebayo was being interviewed at a youth basketball camp, where he broke the silence on his relationship with James after Miami's recruitment of him failed.
"I'm cool with Bron. I consider Bron like a brother, honestly. We've been Olympic teammates, but even before that, we've always had down-to-earth conversations. I'm happy for him. You want what's best for somebody. That's really how you go from there"

Right now, the Heat have significant interest in adding four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson.
"Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson, a five-time All Star and the fourth-most prolific three-point shooter in NBA history, has emerged as a player of strong interest to the Miami Heat, multiple sources said in recent days. The Heat has interest in adding Thompson whether LeBron James joins the Heat or not, a source said," Miami Herald's Barry Jackson wrote.

Last month, Donovan Mitchell agreed to a four-year, $273 million contract extension with the Cavaliers. On Saturday, he exchanged vows with longtime partner Coco Jones in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family. While the couple has yet to share official wedding photos, NBA stars Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, and Bam Adebayo were among the guests, putting their Eastern Conference rivalry aside for the celebration.
Videos shared on Jaylen Brown's Instagram Stories showed Coco Jones and Donovan Mitchell dancing to Musiq Soulchild's "Love" during the ceremony. The wedding also gave NBA fans another classic Jalen Brunson GIF.
Brown filmed the Knicks guard from across the room as Brunson stared awkwardly into the camera before suddenly shouting, "JOSH!" to call over teammate Josh Hart.
That said, a few months ago, Brown playfully confronted Mitchell during All-Star Weekend, asking why he hadn't received a wedding invitation. Mitchell, however, had the receipts, turning the brief exchange into a hilarious viral moment.
"I'm glad you put it in front of the camera," said the Cavs star. "We've been waiting on your ******* to respond. You and Jalen Brunson didn't respond to the message. We've been waiting on y'all."

Heat's Bam Adebayo gives blunt feelings on LeBron James signing with 76ers instead of Miami originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Miami Heat were one of the few teams that went all in on their pursuit of LeBron James this offseason. Miami made a strong push to convince James to join the organization, but it was a slow process as he took nearly a month to make a decision that would have a lasting impact on the final years of his career.
The Heat believed they were firmly in the race for James. Miami president Pat Riley even addressed the team's pursuit of the superstar forward.
"To be transparent about it, we've had discussions over a week ago, maybe a week before that about it. But right now, I think we're like everybody else. Just waiting to see what he does," Riley told the media.
Miami was hoping for a reunion with James, who won two championships with the organization during his first stint with the franchise in the 2010s. This time, the Heat envisioned a new Big Three featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, and James. However, James ultimately decided to finish his career with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Bam Adebayo reacts to LeBron James choosing the Philadelphia 76ers over the Miami Heat originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After LeBron James announced that he was leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, it led to teams showing interest around the league. Even if he is already 41, LeBron is still one of the most appealing players in the league due to his winning pedigree and tremendous talent.
When he saw the Philadelphia 76ers trade for Jaylen Brown, he saw a team that showed ambition. He was enamored by that, which led to him eventually signing with the 76ers. It was a tough pill to swallow for some teams that wanted to sign him, including his former team, the Miami Heat.
As one of the Heat's stars, Adebayo would have loved to have James setting up for lobs and pick-and-rolls. It would have been an electric trio between Bam, LeBron, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Unfortunately, it did not pan out for the team from South Beach.
While they managed to sign LeBron 16 years ago, Philly was too enticing to pass up. Adebayo was disappointed because the Heat would have been a much better team, but he is happy with what they have now. Adebayo and Antetokounmpo in the same frontcourt is dangerous, and they know that too.

Bam Adebayo gets honest about why he's not too worried about the Heat's lack of shooting originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo was a major move for the Miami Heat. With that move, he and Bam Adebayo form a fearsome partnership that could be the best in the league. However, it does pose a problem because they might not be as dynamic on offense as many duos.
Defensively, there should not be any problem with Adebayo and Antetokounmpo. Unfortunately, that is only half the game, so offensively, they might have some limits because they do not have the best perimeter shooting.
It is fair to have high expectations for the Heat now because they have an elite duo in the frontcourt. Pat Riley and the Heat's front office did have to send a significant package to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Giannis, so the team is lacking depth.
Trading away the likes of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kel'el Ware, and Kasparas Jakucionis was a big investment for Miami. It was an understandable decision, but it does hamper their offense because those players were big-time contributors for head coach Erik Spoelstra.

Giannis Antetokounmpo's fit with the Miami Heat gets questioned by former dunk champion originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Getting Giannis Antetokounmpo is a huge triumph for the Miami Heat and team president Pat Riley. They finally have the superstar they have wanted for a long time, and he will be playing in the same frontcourt as mainstay center Bam Adebayo.
While this is an alluring team because of its star power, there might be some question marks surrounding the Heat. They have a strong, talented team with Giannis on board, but there might be some issues with the overall fit.
Former Atlanta Hawks mainstay and All-Defensive team member Josh Smith is excited for the Heat like most people. However, he does have some concerns when it comes to the overall fit with Giannis joining the team this offseason.
For the longest time, the model for succeeding with Giannis has been clear since early in his career with the Milwaukee Bucks, and that is surrounding him with shooters. That is Smith's reasoning because the Heat do not have shooters like that, so they might struggle offensively.

No matter where LeBron decides to go, it would be seen as him chasing rings, since almost every team in the league already has stars. "Where does Charles and the legends want LeBron to go? Bobby Portis boldly claims the Miami Heat now have the best frontcourt in the NBA originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After six years of playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Milwaukee Bucks, Bobby Portis will now be playing for the Miami Heat alongside his longtime teammate. This is a huge change for both players, but it seems they could massively improve a team that has needed a frontcourt boost.
Now, the Heat have one of the most promising teams ahead of the 2026-27 season. Giannis steps in as the #1 guy for Erik Spoelstra, but he is not alone because he will be starting alongside Bam Adebayo.
Combining Giannis and Bam in the same frontcourt is already dangerous for most opponents. They will struggle scoring against them because these two are arguably the best defenders in the league.
Offensively, they are also elite, with Giannis standing as the #1 option. Adebayo may not be as explosive as him, but he does have an 83-point game under his belt from the 2025-26 season.

Bam Adebayo said he has no hard feelings toward LeBron James' surprising decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. However, the Miami Heat star let James know he'll be coming for him the next time they meet on the NBA court.
Speaking at a community event in Miami on Tuesday, Adebayo revealed his text to James after the latter spurned the Heat for the Sixers, which feels like friendly banter for these two stars, given they've built a friendship in the past few years.
"There ain't no disappointment. To me, you should always be happy for a person and their decision. He made a decision where he feels like it's his best situation to win. And I feel like I'm a good friend of LeBron's," Adebayo told the Miami Herald.
