The latest Brotherhood Podcast is out, and this time, Cayden Boozer interviews new ***** istant KJ Conklin.
He talks about his path to Duke, which includes some interesting stops before he got to the San Antonio Spurs, where he worked as ***** istant coach and director of player development for the Austin Spurs, their NBA G League affiliate. Here's a bit of what he had to say about his path and what he's learned:
"I think every, I think the biggest lesson I've learned is is everywhere I've went, I've made very meaningful relationships. And most of all, and it's what I really appreciate about this place is the people make the place.
I mean, we obviously here, we're extremely fortunate with the things we get on the day to day. And then we get to, I've experienced a lot of things as a part of the Duke brand and the standard that we have here. But the people and the meaningful relationships that you make along the way is what you remember the most."

Hey Commanders fans, what do you know about Robert Henry Jr?
With the Washington Commanders rookies having already reported for the 2026 training camp, let's learn about Henry. Initially, it is perfectly understandable if no one in the Commanders fan base knew of Henry in his first two years of college. You see, he played for Jones College in Ellisville, Mississippi, a junior college in 2021 and 2022. Henry then transferred, finding a new football home at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
Playing at UTSA from 2023-2025, Henry blossomed in his senior season, accumulating 1,045 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 151 carries, averaging 6.9 yards per attempt. One of the things that Commanders scouts no doubt noticed about Henry was his development in his ability to break off an explosive run for big yardage. Henry produced five rushes of 70-plus yards in 2025. This was not only the best, but was three more than any other FBS player. Henry was named a first-team All-American Athletic Conference and was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist.
Standing 5-foot-9, weighing 196 pounds, Henry is not exactly Derrick Henry in stature. This is another reason Henry went undrafted in April's 2026 NFL Draft. When the seventh and final draft rounds had concluded, there was Henry still available, and the Commanders ****** ed him, signing him to an undrafted free agent deal.
The Commanders' running back room has Jacory Croskey-Merritt "Bill" and Jeremy McNichols returning from the 2025 team. Chris Rodriguez departed, signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent. During one year with the San Antonio Spurs, Chris Paul became a valuable mentor for his younger teammates. He was by far the oldest player on the roster, so he was naturally the leader the players turned to for advice.
The biggest beneficiaries of that were the youngsters from the 2024-25 Spurs team: Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle. In fact, Wembanyama always hung out with Paul, as they even went to France to train. Wemby himself told Paul about his past as an academy player, which left Paul gobsmacked.
As a player who grew up in the United States, Paul had an established path to the NBA. That is playing through high school, getting recruited to play college basketball, and then getting drafted to the NBA. That has been a long-standing path to the league, but the rise of international players has shown there are other ways to reach the NBA.

Nebraska baseball earned a spot in the 2027 Battle at the Ballpark next season. The Huskers are one of four teams to play, including Air Force, Army West Point and Notre Dame.
The three-day tournament will be hosted by the San Antonio Missions, the San Diego Padres' Double-A affiliate at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium on Feb. 26-28, 2027. The tournament will have two games per day, with each team playing each other in a round-robin format.
Nebraska finished last season 43-17, leading to it hosting an NCAA Regional. The Huskers are the only team in the Battle at the Ballpark lineup that reached the NCAA tournament. Notre Dame earned a 31-22 record last season but missed the NCAA tournament after falling in the second round of the ACC tournament. Army finished 28-20 and fell in the Patriot League Baseball Championships. Air Force finished 27-28 and finished 2-2 in the Mountain West tournament.

Chaminade women's volleyball coach Kahala Kabalis Hoke on Wednesday announced the addition of six players, including four transfers, for the upcoming season.
Setters Allison Panter and Shannon Sheehy enrolled at Chaminade in January and played for the Silverswords beach volleyball team.
Panter previously attended Portland State and Sheehy began her collegiate career at San Francisco.
The other two transfers are outside hitters Anna Panchartek (Southeastern Louisiana) and Siria Guerini (Telematica Pegaso in Italy).
The incoming freshmen are Cheyenne Chanche of Harlan High in San Antonio) and Hailee Tamayo of Point Loma High in San Diego. Both play defensive specialist/libero.

The offseason is nearly down for the New York Knicks and they're close to fully realizing their roster, but with just NBA roster spot remaining for New York, how the team manages that roster spot will be crucial.
One glaring need for the Knicks before the season begins is to land another center to replace Ariel Hukporti, who signed with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. Without Hukporti, the Knicks don't have a solid third option at center to back up Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond, so addressing that deficit in their roster is critical.
The same could be said about the power forward slot. Beyond OG Anunoby, the Knicks can rely on Towns to slot in at power forward, running a double big setup that relies on Towns' ability to ****** e the floor with his shooting ability, but having more support at the four would serve the Knicks well.
The free agent market may be limited, and the Knicks' desire to stay under the second apron should be considered, so with all of that in mind, there are three free agents that the Knicks could reasonably target to full out their roster in time for the pursuit of another championship.
Mason Plumlee has bounced around the NBA the last few seasons, playing with the Charlotte Hornets on a minimum contract during the 2024-25 season before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, then subsequently waived by the Thunder. As we near August, we're about to flip the driest part of the NBA's year-round calendar. All of the offseason moves are done. Everybody's focus has shifted toward the 2026-27 season. For now, though, teams across the league get to relax for a bit before training camp begins.
For NBA players, though, right now is when most of your critical developmental work takes place. The ample time off allows guys across the league to put in serious work and upgrade their bag. Especially for young players still learning the ropes of the NBA.
Jared McCain is somebody who's taking advantage of his resources. He's spent time in Canada with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. After being an NBA trade deadline acquisition, this is the first time he's had a chance to take a breath and fully embrace being on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Thunder added McCain in a buy-low move from the Philadelphia 76ers. The 22-year-old suddenly became important at work. In just three months, he was jettisoned to the top of the depth chart. Injuries to Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell forced him to learn on the job in the game's highest stakes imaginable.
All things considered, McCain did solid. He had two 20-point games that helped the Thunder push the San Antonio Spurs to seven in the 2026 Western Conference Finals. Ultimately, the short-handed squad fell in Game 7. But his microwave scoring was one of the brighter takeaways.

Former Spurs ***** istant Chip Engelland is leaving Oklahoma City to join the Houston Rockets, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania.
Engelland, long known as one of the league's best shooting coaches, built his reputation over nearly two decades on Spurs coaching staffs under Gregg Popovich from 2005-22. While in San Antonio, he built a relationship with Rockets coach Ime Udoka, who had two stints with the Spurs as a player (2007-09 and 2010-11) and served as an ***** istant coach from 2012-19.
After leaving the Spurs four years ago, Engelland helped build a championship team in Oklahoma City along with head coach Mark Daigneault and general manager Sam Presti, another former Spurs staffer. The Thunder went from the fourth-worst record in the league the season before Engelland arrived to having the best record in the Western Conference for three straight seasons and an NBA ***** le in 2025.

Following the 2025 season, 31 players departed from the Oregon Ducks roster via the transfer portal, seeking more opportunity elsewhere. Reserve quarterback Austin Novosad was one of the more prominent names to do so.
Rated as a four-star and the No. 13 quarterback in the 2023 class, Oregon managed to flip Novosad from Baylor after five-star Dante Moore spurned the Ducks and himself flipped to UCLA. A top 200 prospect, the flip was considered a significant win for Oregon especially how quickly it came after losing Moore.
But the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Novosad never could quite carve out a role with the Ducks. He saw his most action in 2023 as a freshman, completing 9-of-11 passes for 52 yards in garbage time. That ended up being the peak, as he was the third-string quarterback in 2024 and once again in 2025.
Having transferred to Bowling Green of the MAC, where he's projected to be the starter this fall, intrigue is following the former Oregon passer. While The Athletic ranked Novosad as a Tier 7 (113th out of 138 overall) quarterback in college football, the lowest tier, he was named among seven of the most fascinating signal-callers to keep an eye on in 2026.
"We never saw much of Novosad at Oregon," The Athletic's Antonio Morales wrote. "He spent the 2023 season behind Bo Nix, 2024 behind Dillon Gabriel and Moore, who joined the program after a season at UCLA, and 2025 behind Moore and Brock Thomas, who appeared to unseat Novosad for the backup role last year. Novosad has attempted 15 career passes, and 11 of those came in 2023. It's been a while since he's received extended playing time. Sooner or later, Tony D'Amico will deliver a new attacking signing to Gian Piero Gasperini. The question is: How far down his list of targets will he have to go to land a new weapon for Gasperini? With Mason Greenwood heading to Turkey, Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa, and Crysencio Summerville to Saudi Arabia, the three players most closely linked to the Giallorossi have now signed elsewhere.
Now, it seems that Roma has zeroed in on Antonio Nusa of RB Leipzig as its new main target. However, the price tag being bandied about for Nusa may be even higher than the reported agreed-upon fee Roma had with West Ham for Summerville. And there appears to be competition from Premier League side Newcastle, which may push the reported €55 million minimum negotiating point higher.
So, with that in mind, D'Amico will have to have be ready to pivot to plan E or F before long. And those appear to be Andreas Schjelderup of Benfica e Said El Mala of Koln. We reported on Schjelderup a couple days ago, but he may be too rich for Roma's blood. That leave El Mala as the more likely alternative.
El Mala is a 19-year-old winger who is part of the Germany under-21 setup and is coming off a 13-goal and 3-assist campaign for Bundesliga side Köln. It's reported that Borussia Dortmund had an €26 million fixed fee, with €16 million in possible bonuses, offer rejected by Koln. The reason: Köln will only listen to offers of €50 million and up— a fee that seems a bit high for a player with a limited track record.
But with Roma having difficulty securing more proven profiles at a similar fee, could D'Amico pony up the cash just to get fresh talent through the Trigoria doors?

So, with that in mind, D'Amico will have to have be ready to pivot to plan E or F before long. And those appear to be Andreas Schjelderup of Benfica e Said El Mala of Koln. We reported on Schjelderup a couple days ago, but he may be too rich for Roma's blood. That leave El Mala as the more likely alternative.
El Mala is a 19-year-old winger who is part of the Germany under-21 setup and is coming off a 13-goal and 3-assist campaign for Bundesliga side Köln. It's reported that Borussia Dortmund had an €26 million fixed fee, with €16 million in possible bonuses, offer rejected by Koln. The reason: Köln will only listen to offers of €50 million and up— a fee that seems a bit high for a player with a limited track record.
But with Roma having difficulty securing more proven profiles at a similar fee, could D'Amico pony up the cash just to get fresh talent through the Trigoria doors?

They have spoken directly with Leipzig and haven’t used too many intermediaries. The German side made it clear that they want €60 million and would go down to only €55 million. That’s their take it or leave it response.

Easy come, easy go. Except in the case of Roma’s ill-fated pursuit of Crysencio Summerville, nothing was easy. NEW YORK (AP) — Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and former NBA MVP Derrick Rose were revealed Wednesday as the cover athletes for NBA 2K27.
Wembanyama is on the cover of the Standard Edition, Clark is on the Deluxe Edition and Rose will appear on the limited-time Ultra Edition.

While the final decision is not yet set in stone, it is presumed that Aaron Philo — who arrived in Gainesville through the transfer portal to join his previous offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, Buster Faulkner — will be lining up under center to start the season. The redshirt sophomore has the upper hand on redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr., who served as the primary backup last year, and true freshman Will Griffin heading to the opener of the 2026 campaign.
With that in mind, The Athletic's college football writers Antonio Morales and Sam Khan Jr. recently ranked every projected starter at the position from 1 to 138, organizing them all into seven distinct tiers. Philo finds himself ranked No. 55, which puts him in Tier 4 — right in the middle of the pack.
"Philo saw limited snaps (63 in 2025) while backing up Haynes King at Georgia Tech, so there's still much to learn. He has been effective in his limited duty, accounting for 29 explosive plays in his 180 career snaps (a 3.4% explosive play rate would be top 30 nationally if sustained over starter snaps)," they said.
"I think he's a really good player," one SEC **** istant said. "The thing about him is he needs a lot of help. He's not a runner. He's not going to go out there and win the game himself, but he'll make the easy throws if guys are open."

The San Antonio Spurs guard has teamed up with Under Armour and Sharpie on a special Fox 2 colorway featuring hand-drawn artwork inspired by the people, memories and moments that have shaped his life.
The Sharpie x Under Armour Fox 2 will be released July 23 for $130.
Rather than designing just another colorway, Fox said he wanted the sneaker to reflect who he is.
"Some of the sketches on here - you see the fox, obviously, playing off my last name. My logo's in it, basketball, Swiper," Fox said.

Texas coach Sean Miller offered a laundry list of reasons for why he's thrilled the Longhorns will face the Baylor Bears next season in a neutral site contest at the Frost Bank Center.
The "San Antonio Hoops Showdown" is set for Nov. 15, the Spurs announced Tuesday. Tickets for the 264th all-time meeting between the programs will go on sale at noon on Oct. 1 at FrostBankCenter.com and Ticketmaster.com. Start time and television broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
"We wanted to play a high-quality opponent knowing we're going to challenge our team to the highest level, and Baylor does that," Miller said. "The fact that they are also from our state is icing on the cake."

Bournemouth are in talks with Benfica to sign Portugal defender Antonio Silva as a replacement for Marcos Senesi.
The Cherries have targeted the 22-year-old following Senesi's decision to leave on a free transfer and join Tottenham Hotspur.
Silva is seen as a good ball-playing replacement for the Argentina centre-back, although Benfica have paused further progression in the talks as they look to get through Europa League qualifying.
The Portuguese club face St Gallen in Switzerland on 23 July, with the return a week later in Lisbon.
Silva has been a regular for Benfica since breaking into the first team in 2022 and has featured in the Champions League, Europa League and Club World Cup.

The Delaware Wrestling Hall of Fame will induct four former state champions and a person behind the Beast of the East's growth this fall.
State champions Paul Antonio and Kanamti Solomon from William Penn, Randy Brown, who wrestled at Laurel and Delmar, and Smyrna's Brent Fleetwood will be joined by contributor Dr. Michael Axe.
They'll be honored Oct. 16 at a 7 p.m. banquet at the Chase Center, preceded by a 5 p.m. unveiling at the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame across the street at Frawley Stadium. Tickets are $50.
The 2026 inductees:
Antonio won state championships at 160 pounds in 1989 and 1991 and at 171 pounds in 1990 after placing third as a freshman at 152 for William Penn. He also was runner-up in the national high school championships before becoming a 4-year starter, 2-time NCAA Tournament qualifier and 1996 Eastern Wrestling League 158-pound champion at Clarion.
