High-performance computing is currently undergoing a massive generational shift. Deciding between Astera Labs Inc (NASDAQ:ALAB) and Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:AMAT) means choosing between a fast-growing connectivity specialist and an established ******* an of manufacturing equipment.

When you're overmatched as the Carolina Panthers may be on Sunday against the Chicago Bears—sometimes, you have to pick your battles. Stopping everything that head coach and play-caller Ben Johnson wants to do offensively simply isn't realistic given the schematic and talent mismatch on that side of the ball.
However, if the Panthers are going to defy the odds and their sorry Week 1 history to pull off a win, they have to find a way to make Chicago's offense one-dimensional. And the quickest way to do that is by shutting down the Bears' ground game, which is led by running back D'Andre Swift.
Last season, Swift led the Bears with 1,087 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Backup Kyle Monangai ranked second with 783 rushing yards to go with five scores on the ground. As a team, Chicago ranked third in the NFL with 144.5 rushing yards per game.
Containing that potent rushing attack will be easier said than done, but it's critical that the Panthers find a way to do so. While defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero will direct the symphony from the sideline, it'll be Pro Bowl inside linebacker Devin Lloyd—who was signed to a three-year, $42 million pact this offseason—who shoulders most of the responsibilities on the field.

His overall returns therefore look stronger in isolation than his performances across the entire period suggest. Tilak endured a particularly difficult run during India's tour of the UK, and his inconsistency has remained a concern despite the occasional big score. That makes his position in India's batting order an even bigger talking point ahead of the Afghanistan series.

It was Jan. 9, and he thought he was attending a routine immigration hearing — not deciding on the rest of his life in just seconds, having to choose between returning to Cuba or risking deportation at any moment. He didn't have a chance to confer with his wife and sister who were waiting outside.
De La Cruz had spent five years putting down roots in the United States after crossing almost a dozen countries by car, foot, bus and boat. He thought of what he and his wife had accomplished after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into Texas in August 2021, obtaining the immigration forms in hopes of requesting green cards via the Cuban Adjustment Act.
"The first thing I did was call my aunt and I told her, 'I'm in the United States. I'm in the United States.' And we began to cry," he recalled.

Lily Reynolds enjoyed a tremendous first full season pitching on the varsity level as a sophomore for Colonie in 2026.
Before her final two high schools seasons, Reynolds has already provided longtime University at Albany softball coach Chris Cannata her verbal commitment to pitch for the Great Danes of the America East Conference.
"I just realized that I wanted to stay home and be around my family. That was really the big deciding factor for me - not necessarily the D-I label," Reynolds said of her decision.
"She called me (Wednesday) and I told her this is the best news ever," said Colonie coach Kelly Colvin, who played at Shenendehowa and UAlbany. "Lily has put in so much hard work with us at Colonie and with the (Capital District) Fusion. It is really cool to see it pay off for her. We're all very excited."
During her sophomore season, Reynolds compiled a 7-2 record with a 1.61 earned run average and 115 strikeouts over 91 1/3 innings for the Wolf Pack. She was named to the Times Union all-star team as a first-team selection.

Washington's new offensive coordinator, David Blough, has never called an NFL offense, so there is no real film that tells us exactly what Vic Fangio will be preparing for. We can make educated guesses based on Blough's background and what Blough has said publicly, but anyone claiming to know precisely what this offense will look like is guessing.
It's really hard for me not to spend the whole article comparing Sean Mannion and David Blough, but the similarities are so obvious. Blough only stopped playing quarterback recently and spent the past two seasons as Washington's ******* istant quarterbacks coach under Kingsbury. Before that, his playing career put him around a wide range of offensive coaches, including Ben Johnson in Detroit and Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota. Washington has also been open about wanting to move away from some of the philosophical elements of Kingsbury's offense, particularly by becoming more balanced and using more under-center play action. Sound familiar?!
Blough's challenge is deciding how much to change. Daniels has already spent two seasons getting comfortable in Kingsbury's system, particularly operating from shotgun, using tempo, and using his legs a lot. Daniels looks like someone suited to a shotgun, spread-heavy RPO offense.
Throwing all of that away would make very little sense. At the same time, Washington didn't change coordinators because it wanted the exact same offense, so I would expect the eventual structure to keep some of the shotgun and RPO elements Daniels already excels at while adding more motion, heavier personnel, under-center formations, and a more connected run and play-action game. Bloomberg reported on August 25, 2026, that BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK) cut the minimum size for converting large Bitcoin holdings directly into shares of its iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF to $1 million in July, down from $25 million when the in-kind conversion process first became available. The fund has facilitated more than $5 billion of these conversions, up from more than $3 billion when Bloomberg first reported on the trend in October, according to Robbie Mitchnick, BlackRock's head of digital ******* ets. The process, which can take more than a week, lets holders move Bitcoin from private wallets into a regulated fund structure while retaining price exposure. Mitchnick said "kidnappings, ransom demands, and custody failures" motivate some holders to make the switch. Rival issuer Bitwise has cut its own minimum even further, from $100 million to $3 million, Bloomberg reported.
This is a fast-scaling new source of fee-generating ******* ets for BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK). The $5 billion processed through IBIT is up from $3 billion just months earlier. It shows accelerating adoption of a service that pulls previously self-custodied Bitcoin wealth directly into BlackRock's ******* et base rather than competing for ******* ets already inside the traditional financial system.
Cutting the minimum by 96% meaningfully widens who can use the service. Dropping the threshold from $25 million to $1 million brings the option within reach of family offices and wealthy individual holders, rather than limiting it to the largest Bitcoin holders. That gives BlackRock access to a substantially larger pool of potential conversions as the practice becomes more common.
IBIT's scale gives it a head start in capturing this migration. The fund already holds roughly 3.645% of Bitcoin's total supply and lists net ******* ets of $60.65 billion. It is scale advantage that likely makes it the default destination for holders deciding where to move their coins, reinforcing BlackRock's position as conversions boost industry-wide.
The process remains manual and slow despite the lower headline minimum. Bitwise chief investment officer Matt Hougan said the conversion process industry-wide is "still bespoke, from introducing a client to a market maker to working with the adviser, but it's becoming more standardized," and Mitchnick himself said conversions can take more than a week. That means BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK) has not yet turned this into a fully automated, scalable pipeline even as it markets lower minimums to a broader audience.

The Kyle Whittingham era was supposed to embody toughness, discipline, playing smart, and doing things the right way. After saying all of the right things and appearing to be confident in what Michigan football would bring to the table in his debut in Ann Arbor, Whittingham's team was not only the opposite of everything he espouses, it was a debacle in every way. The Wolverines were a miracle away from, at best, the second-worst loss in program history, and given what the head coach's teams had been for two-plus decades in Salt Lake City, it's a head-scratcher.
The opening offensive drive was as impressive as the rest of the game was bad. Despite mistakes, quarterback Bryce Underwood sliced through the Western Michigan defense like a hot knife through ***** er, making what ended up being fall camp bluster look prescient. But that was it. 75 yards on the opening drive, and a 47-yard Hail Mary aside, it accounted for all but 154 yards accumulated all game. The offense, against a supposedly overmatched foe, made the Sherrone Moore-era offense look like the air raid by comparison. The defense got off the field, surrendering little in terms of points, sure, but it also allowed the Broncos to hold the ball for over 40 minutes, including a 13-minute, 40-second drive spanning from the third to fourth quarters. When the offense got the ball back, it quickly relinquished possession after three plays, managing seven yards on first down before deciding that moving the ball forward was anathema to its goals.
And then there were the other mistakes: missed ***** ignments, an ***** ortment of penalties, and all-around bad play. It wasn't just the opposite of what was expected; it was the opposite of how Whittingham's teams in Utah played for 21 years.
"I'm going to reserve judgment on that until I dissect the film," Whittingham said after the game. "But we talked about how we improved dramatically through fall camp. That's a fact. I mean, there's no one that attended practice that wouldn't tell you anything different. We had former players there, and everybody had the same ***** ysis. And so, and we're not -- I'm not saying that Bryce played a bad game. This isn't on Bryce Underwood. This is, like I said, it's on me, and I've got to figure out a way to have these guys better prepared and be able to get into a rhythm offensively. The easy word for what happened at the end of No. 16 Michigan's win over Western Michigan is "controversial." That might not work, though, as everyone seems pretty unanimous on what happened.
With only a few seconds on the clock, Michigan attempted a 47-yard Hail Mary that fell incomplete as time seemingly expired. A replay review predictably ensued, with the Big Ten's replay center eventually deciding to put one second back on the clock.
Michigan's second Hail Mary attempt had a better outcome, with the Wolverines pulling off a wild 13-12 win.
However, anyone with the ability to pause and slo-mo the replay shown on television can tell you the clock clearly struck zero while the ball was in the air on the first attempt. The clock should have stopped as soon as Western Michigan safety Micah Davis touched the ball because he had stepped out of bounds. But, again, time expired while the ball was in the air.
There should not have been a final play, as far as any outside observe can tell. It is rare that a blown call feels this obvious, this blatantly irreconcilable with the plain fact of a clock on a screen.

When asked about his thoughts on why things didn't work out at Old Trafford, Højlund singled out the arrival of Ruben Amorim after Erik ten Hag's dismissal.
"I don't think anything specific went wrong. I arrived at a club with a manager: it was a difficult year, with many injuries, but we won the FA Cup and I was the top scorer. Then we went through a difficult period and Amorim arrived, an excellent coach but with a different playing style. The team had to adapt, and it was complicated. We all struggled. My first year was a success, the second wasn't. But I played in the Europa League final; if we had won, it would have been a different story. That's football: sometimes it goes well, other times it goes badly, but I'm very happy to have played for the club I dreamed of as a child."

Communities across North Yorkshire are preparing to welcome the Tour of Britain men's cycling race on Saturday.
The fourth stage of the men's tour will start in Helmsley, with the cyclists travelling through Ripon on their way to the Yorkshire Dales before finishing in Leyburn.
Stretching approximately 103 miles (166km) with 8,800ft (2,699m) of elevation, it is expected to be the race's most challenging day and "could play a key role in deciding the overall winner" of the competition, according to British Cycling.
Almost £10,000 has been awarded to towns and villages along the route to enable them to create community displays and decorations celebrating the race's visit to the area.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Thursday cleared the air over chief selector Ajit Agarkar's absence from the board's review meeting, while dismissing speculation about changes to the senior men's selection committee.
Agarkar was not present at the meeting, which focused on India's recent performances and the team's preparations for a packed international calendar leading up to the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Saikia explained that Agarkar was out of station when the meeting was called at short notice and was unable to join virtually because he was in an area with poor connectivity.
"Today he (Agarkar) was out of station, so he could not be a part of the meeting. "There was no discussion on the selection committee. Our whole focus was on performances in England and Ireland, as well as the recent Test series in Sri Lanka and what we are going to do in the upcoming series before the ODI World Cup, which is our ultimate goal," he said.

"We have not discussed all these things regarding the team selection, team combination, who will be playing in what format. For that, selectors will take a call. Today, the selectors were not part of the discussion. So when the selectors meet to select the team for the West Indies series, as well as thereafter for the New Zealand series, they will consider whatever parameters are to be considered by them," concluded Saikia.
India face a packed schedule over the next several months, with the team set to play Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series before the Asian Games in ****** an later this month. The West Indies will then tour India for three ODIs and five T20Is, followed by a demanding multi-format tour of New Zealand featuring two Tests, five ODIs and five T20Is.
India will subsequently host Sri Lanka for three ODIs and three T20Is before facing Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series in January 2027. The marquee ****** ignment will be the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy again

The Supreme Court is allowing President Donald Trump to press on with his White House ballroom project — over a strident objection from Chief Justice John Roberts and the court's liberal wing.
The justices' 5-4 ruling maintains the high court's hold on a federal appeals court ruling that called for a halt to the project after concluding it lacked approval from Congress.
In an unsigned order Monday, the Supreme Court's majority said a historic preservation group that sued over the project appeared to lack legal standing, while national security concerns favored allowing the construction to continue. The majority did not opine on whether the project is legal.
Writing for the dissenters, Roberts said the project is "likely unlawful."
"The White House is an iconic American building whose symbolism and history are wrapped up in its architecture," Roberts wrote, adding that it is critical to "ensure that those responsible follow the rules in deciding what to tear down and what to build up at the People's House."

NASHVILLE — With just under 1:30 left in Jackson State football's season opener against Tennessee State, things were not looking good for the road team.
JSU led TSU by two points, but a 24-yard completion allowed TSU to work the ball into the red zone with plenty of time left.
Two plays later, an incomplete pass, followed by a delay of game penalty and a sack, forced TSU to set up for the game-winning field goal attempt. However, the kick never happened after a botched snap and hold, and JSU held on to win 26-24 at FirstBank Stadium on Aug. 29.
"Honestly, I just really trusted the defense," wide receiver Jabari Jones said of watching TSU's final drive. "They went out there and stopped them, forced the field goal, and hey."
The circumstances of TSU's final play proved how crucial special teams were in deciding the result of this game.
