Amazon Business is now a $60B operation serving 11 million customers worldwide. In this FreightWaves Today interview, Amazon Business exec Daniel Silverfield breaks down what that scale means for procurement, supplier consolidation, same-day grocery delivery and AI-driven savings. The big takeaway: business buyers want fewer suppliers, better visibility and less waste in purchasing. Silverfield explains how Amazon Business is pitching exactly that to everyone from small companies to Fortune 100s.
Amazon Business has hit $60 billion in annualized gross sales and now serves 11 million customers worldwide, with 1.8 million organizations added this year alone — a growth rate that puts it on par with a Fortune 100 company if it were standalone. The platform, which launched roughly a decade ago after Amazon noticed businesses already shopping on amazon.com, is increasingly central to how companies across sectors manage procurement, from office supplies to same-day groceries.
The scale matters to shippers, carriers, and brokers because Amazon Business is driving a fundamental shift in B2B purchasing behavior — consolidating supplier pools, centralizing data, and moving procurement from quarterly reporting cycles to an always-on, AI-powered model. Every order that migrates to the platform is one fewer touchpoint for traditional distributors and one more shipment flowing through Amazon's own logistics network.
Daniel Silverfield, head of value and selection for Amazon Business, said the platform saved customers $880 million on Prime free shipping last year and $1 billion through business-specific discounts. The company added 30% new items year over year and recently launched same-day grocery delivery across 2,300 U.S. cities in the first half of this year, a capability customers had been requesting for some time.
"The big shift that we're seeing is that people are moving to a continuous, always-on, conversational-powered procurement journey where agents may be looking for the best price while they're asleep, maybe negotiating on their behalf while they're asleep, and then surfacing to them the best product to buy," said Silverfield.

Silver (SI=F) December futures opened at $64.18 per ounce on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, up 0.5% from Tuesday's closing price. Silver prices rose this morning, reaching $65.08 as of 6:42 a.m. ET.
This morning, silver prices have lifted out of the $63 to $64 range they maintained all week ahead of one of the most anticipated Fed meetings in some time. Market observers are anticipating the first Fed rate increase in three years.
According to the CME Group's FedWatch tool, there is still a 92.5% chance the Fed will raise the target range for the fed funds rate by 25 basis points, the same as yesterday. On Monday, the chances were pegged at 86.5%. On Friday, the percentage was 69.4%.
Higher interest rates are a headwind for precious metals and crypto prices since these investments do not pay interest.

Claire Danes attended the 2026 Emmy Awards as a nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her performance in The Beast in Me.
Gilbert Flores/Variety via Getty Images
I had an overwhelming feeling that her platinum-silver silk-satin Armani Privé one-shoulder gown, with micro-crystal embroidery along the lining, was inspired by the archives. The silhouette and futuristic feel immediately took me back to Mr Armani's Spring 2011 collection, but the design is actually based on a Silvana Armani gown from the Fall 2026 collection.
Should Claire have worn the stunning burgundy runway version?
As much as I adore that rich hue and the velvet fabric, I think Claire made the right choice. The silver feels better suited to both the occasion and her red carpet style, while still retaining everything that made the original design so striking.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever wing Sophie Cunningham has thoughts on what a new WNBA commissioner should bring to the table. And she's already had conversations with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who is leading the search for the new WNBA commissioner, about it.
Silver reached out to Cunningham, she said on Monday, as her agents are close with him.
"I have talked to Adam Silver a couple times, and I think he's a great guy who's very knowledgeable and full of wisdom," Cunningham said. "Just getting to talk to him and hear his perspective of his approach to the NBA is huge. Who he's kind of looking for, I think if you want to know the real answers, go to him, but I think he's going to put someone in place who really wants to take our league to another level than it's already at. Our league is booming, so why would we not want someone who is going to try to make it even more booming?"
Cathy Engelbert, who has been the WNBA's commissioner since 2019, announced on Sept. 4 that she would retire at the end of the year. Engelbert ushered in a lot of growth to the league, including six new teams across the U.S. and Canada, but garnered a lot of criticism for her lack of relationship with players.

Gold and silver investors have had to contend with some sharp price moves so far in 2026. Gold, for example, surpassed $5,500 per ounce early this year, but has since retreated significantly from that record high, with the price of gold sitting closer to $4,275 per ounce as of mid-September. Silver, on the other hand, has also experienced sizable price swings as investors have responded to shifting expectations for inflation, interest rates and the economy.
And those price movements could become even more **** ounced in the days ahead. The Federal Reserve meets September 15 and 16, and persistent inflation has increased the possibility of another rate hike. That prospect matters for precious metals investors because changes in interest rates can quickly alter where investors put their money and how much they're willing to pay for **** ets such as gold and silver.
Still, the outcome isn't as simple as higher rates automatically leading to lower precious metals prices. Gold and silver are being pulled by several competing forces right now, and the Fed's decision is only one of them. So, if the central bank does raise rates this week, what could it actually mean for gold and silver prices — both immediately and in the months that follow? That's what we'll examine below.
Find out how you can use gold and silver to protect your portfolio today.
If the Fed raises rates at its September meeting, gold and silver prices could face some short-term pressure, as higher interest rates tend to make other interest-bearing options, such as bonds and savings products, more attractive. Gold and silver **** ets don't pay interest, though, so some investors may be less willing to hold them when they can earn higher returns elsewhere.

1420 ET – Gold futures hold steady as a pullback in oil prices helps offset the impact of an inflation report that increased expectations for a Fed interest-rate rise next week. Front-month gold settles little changed on the day in New York at $4,366.20 a troy ounce, and is down 1.4% for the week. Gold and silver remain within a range of strong support, says Peter Cardillo of Spartan Capital, and if the Fed does raise interest rates next week “it’s symbolic since the bond market had already tightened.” Silver settles up 0.4% at $64.554 a troy ounce, down 2.3% from a week ago. (anthony.harrupwsj.com)
1306 GMT – Gold prices rebounded after oil prices fell more than 2.5%, easing some inflationary concerns. Futures in New York rise 0.3% to $4,422.40 a troy ounce, but remain on track for a weekly loss. U.S. consumer prices accelerated in August, bolstering market expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates next week. According to the FedWatch tool, traders are now pricing in a nearly 87% probability that the U.S. central bank will raise interest rates next week, from around 67% earlier on Friday. Still, “while the markets appear to be placing their proverbial bets on a hike, it’s likely that members of the FOMC won’t be quite as unequivocal,” says Kyle Rodda from Capital.com. “The doves on the committee, of which there are many, are likely to argue the case that the dip in annual core inflation justifies patience.” (giulia.petroniwsj.com)

Consumers just can't catch a break. According to Friday's Consumer Price Index report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), inflation is holding steady as surging gas prices empty shoppers' wallets.
But that's not all. Year-over-year data about household debt paints a dim picture of the state of consumer finances. However, this week's home sales report offers a silver lining, showing it might be a good time to buy a house.

Keely Hodgkinson made serene progress into the 800m final at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships in her first race back since taking silver at last month's European Championships.
The 24-year-old skipped the final rounds of the Diamond League and the Final in Brussels last week due to discomfort in her hamstring but looked relaxed and comfortable as she clocked the quickest time of the two semi-finals, 1:57.57.
As usual Hodgkinson led from the front before winding things up in the closing 200m, finishing well clear of American Addison Wiley in 1:58.14 and Australia's Sarah Billings, who clocked 1:58.37.
There was drama as Veronica Vancardo was accidentally brought down by Eloisa Coiro as the Italian attempted to edge past on the inside in the closing straight, with Hodgkinson and the other runners going to console the Swiss athlete, who appeared badly hurt. Officials later advanced her to the final after reviewing the footage and deeming she was tripped.
Hodgkinson told BBC Sport: ""I'm happy with that, I'm glad to be back running. It was a lot of fun. It's been a month since I last raced so it's nice to get that run out through the legs, hopefully go a bit better tomorrow."

Silver (SI=F) December futures opened at $67.94 per ounce on Thursday, September 10, 2026, down 1.0% from Wednesday's closing price. Silver prices are backing off this morning, reaching $66.62 as of 6.58 a.m. ET.
Even though the opening silver price was down 1% from the previous session's closing price, silver's $67.94 was the precious metal's strongest opening price so far this week. However, silver prices do seem to be backing off this morning in early trading.
Investors are awaiting the Producer Price Index (PPI) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) data due today and tomorrow, respectively, for one final look at prior inflation data before the Fed meets for its two-day rate-setting meeting starting on Tuesday.
Currently, there's a 62.2% expectation that the Fed will raise rates next week, which could further limit silver price growth in the short term.

The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs are debuting all-white uniforms against the Western Ketnucky Hilltoppers. Georgia will wear white pants, white jerseys and white helmets for the first time in school history.
Georgia has worn alternate uniforms four times during the coach Kirby Smart era. The Dawgs are 4-0. Georgia still traditionally wears a white or red jersey along with silver britches and a red helmet.
The Bulldogs wore black jerseys in a 2016 home win (35-21) over Louisiana Lafayette. In Georgia's last road trip to Arkansas, back in 2020 quarterback Stetson Bennett saved the day after a slow start. Georgia wore red pants and slightly altered white uniforms in the 37-10 win.
In 2020, Georgia also wore black jerseys at home in the Bulldogs' 31-24 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a game where JT Daniels passed for over 400 yards. Georgia wore the same black jerseys, which have a red Dawg collar, in Georgia's last-second 24-21 Peach Bowl win over Cincinnati.
Of course, Georgia's most memorable alternate jersey game is when the Bulldogs beat Auburn at home in 2007 with black jerseys. Georgia will look to move to 5-0 in alternate uniforms under coach Smart on Saturday, Sept. 12 against Western Kentucky at 12:45 p.m. ET.

ET.

The Kering Foundation hosted its fifth annual Caring for Women Dinner in New York, with a guest list that included several familiar faces in Gucci. Host committee members Pamela Anderson and Nacho Figueras were joined by Camila Morrone, Paris Hilton, Alix Earle, Rita Ora, Cindy Bruna, Alex Consani, Bethann Hardison and more.
Noam Galai/Getty Images for Kering Foundation
After a run of five colourful looks at the Venice Film Festival, Pamela Anderson switched gears in a Gucci Primavera long-sleeve jersey dress, styled with black pumps and a silver crystal-embellished clutch.
Does she look good? Yes. But I think this also confirms that bolder colours work better for her. After seeing how much those shades enlivened her Venice wardrobe, I find myself instantly missing the colour here.

President Donald Trump hasn't been permitted to drive on public roads since taking office in 2016, in accordance with long-standing Secret Service protocols. These rules, introduced after the **** assination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, prohibit both the president and vice president from driving themselves — even after they leave office.
HELLO!'s US Royal News Correspondent Alexandra Hurtado shared her expert insight into the topic. "After becoming president in 2017, President Trump himself said he liked to drive, but could no longer do so. While he may have given up the driver's seat of a car, he has been seen during his presidency behind the wheel of a golf cart," she shared.
Like all modern U.S. presidents, Trump was chauffeured in "The Beast," a heavily armored Cadillac limousine. Despite no longer getting behind the wheel, Trump has maintained an impressive car collection over the years, featuring luxury brands such as Cadillac, Rolls-Royce, and Lamborghini. **** O! takes a closer look at the luxury cars Donald Trump has owned over the years.
Donald Trump sat with his grandson in The Beast (@ Instagram)
Just before his first election in 2016, Trump was spotted behind the wheel of a brand-new Rolls-Royce Phantom – a fitting choice for someone with a taste for luxury. Decades earlier, he also owned a 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, believed to be one of the first cars he ever purchased. According to reports, he would take it out for a spin on special occasions, making it a cherished piece in his early collection.

1444 ET – Gold futures make small gains despite a rise in Treasury yields after the Treasury Department said it would buy back $6 billion in bonds this week, less than some in the market expected. The dollar weakened, however, which tends to support gold. An easing in ******* anese yields and continued central bank buying—with China’s central bank adding 20 tons in August—also helped support prices, while the market remains focused on U.S. inflation data later this week, Konstantinos Chrysikos of Kudo.com says in a note. Front month gold settles up 0.5% in New York at $4,416 a troy ounce. Silver gains 2.5% to $67.942 a troy ounce. (anthony.harrupwsj.com)
1150 ET – Gold futures are steady as bond yields rise after the Treasury says it will buy up to $6 billion of longer-term debt at its Thursday buyback operation. The precious metals market is also focusing on this week’s inflation data—producer prices due Thursday and consumer prices on Friday. Gold’s recent slippage came as high Treasury yields, firmer Fed rate-hike expectations and rising oil prices “collectively outweighed dollar softness,” Kaynat Chainwala of Kotak Neo says in a note. Softer inflation readings would reduce the probability of a rate increase “and open the path toward the $4,500 resistance zone,” while an above-estimate result along with high energy prices “would likely reinstate selling pressure and bring the $4,300 support zone into focus.” Front month gold is up 0.2% at $4,401.20 a troy ounce. Ever since Keely Hodgkinson became Olympic champion two years ago, she has not just taken talk of breaking track's longest-standing world record in stride but embraced the possibility.
For 43 years Jarmila Kratochvilova's time of 1:53.28 has stood unbothered, a mark that even World Athletics president Sebastian Coe has previously said he is wishing out of existence following decades of innuendo and suspicion around it being clean.
Now, at last, eclipsing it feels inevitable; although in the **** e of three months Hodgkinson is no longer the favourite to do so.
The summer of 2026 has belonged to Audrey Werro, irrespective of whether the Swiss can round off a perfect season at this weekend's inaugural Ultimate Championships in Budapest.
And while only a fool would write off Hodgkinson becoming the fastest of all time in 2027, the latest rival to have demoted the British superstar to a major championship silver medal seems the most likely.

PHOENIX – Despite finishing with a 4-13 record after the 2023 season, the Arizona Cardinals took a silver lining into the offseason, one that had the potential to set the foundation for a new era.
General manager Monti Ossenfort and then-head coach Jonathan Gannon had 11 draft picks to work with entering the 2024 NFL draft, and when all was said and done, the team came away with 12 total selections.
Two years later, that draft class is still trying to provide significant returns on the investment under first-year head coach Mike LaFleur.
Each member is also facing the scrutiny of being a third-year player, which is widely viewed as a make-or-break opportunity. Under the NFL collective bargaining agreement, decisions regarding fifth-year options for first-round picks, impending contract expiration for non-first-round picks and long-term contract extensions can not be made until after a player's third season.
Seven of the Cardinals' 2024 draft picks fell inside the first three rounds. Here is a breakdown of how each one has fared after two seasons, along with their status heading into the 2026 season, which begins Sunday in Los Angeles against the Chargers.

LAS VEGAS — When the Golden Knights traded Pavel Dorofeyev to the New York Rangers back on June 26, general manager Kelly McCrimmon knew he had to find a way to replace the 37 goals Dorofeyev scored for Vegas last season.
In signing Braeden Bowman to a six-year contract extension, McCrimmon is betting that Bowman can fill some of the void.
Bowman's deal, which kicks in for the 2027-28 season and runs through 2033 has an average annual value of $3.4 million. He's scheduled to make $875,000 this coming season in the second year of his recent two-year deal.
It seems like a lot of money for someone with limited NHL experience. But the Knights like what the 6-foot-1, 205-pound 23-year-old winger gives them — a big, physical net presence with a scorer's touch. And if Bowman develops as McCrimmon hopes, that $3.4 million could look like a bargain down the road.
Bowman split time between the Golden Knights and the Henderson Silver Knights last season. His NHL numbers were eight goals and 18 ***** ists in 54 games. In the AHL, he had better than a point a game with 12 goals and 14 ***** ists in 20 games.
More important, Bowman has played under Ryan Craig, who is now the Golden Knights' head coach. Craig knows Bowman from their time together in Henderson and he'll figure out where best to play him. When Bruce Cassidy was the coach, Bowman played up and down the lineup. With John Tortorella, Bowman only got into one game, that being Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against Carolina.
"He's a great coach," Bowman told KTNV when asked about Craig while at the team's annual golf outing earlier this week at TPC Summerlin. "He's a great person, too. He's honest, fair — everything you want in a coach."
Bowman told the television station that he has spent the summer anticipating a larger role in the NHL and he wants to be ready.
"I just focused on getting bigger, stronger," Bowman said. "I want to make the jump and be a full-time guy, so get stronger, work on my speed and get my pace up."

Dame Helen Mirren attended the MobLand Season Two world premiere, held at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London this evening, ahead of the new season's Paramount+ debut on September 18.
Neil Mockford/Getty Images
The actress, who plays Maeve Harrigan, head of the Harrigan crime family, brought her usual dazzle and charm to the red carpet wearing the Jenny Packham Dulcet sequinned gown.
Jenny Packham, a long-time favourite of the Princess of Wales, has built her reputation on eveningwear that celebrates embellishment, so perhaps it was inevitable that the sequins wouldn't be the end of the story. Rhinestones across the shoulders created an almost armour-like effect. It could have felt excessive, yet on Helen it only added to the sense of occasion.
A silver-metal Tyler Ellis Perry clutch and an updo, which showed off her Anabela Chan earrings, completed her look.

Patriots news: Drake Maye's rough opener has Will Campbell silver lining appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
On Wednesday evening, the New England Patriots choked a double-digit second-half lead and dropped their first game of the season to the Seattle Seahawks in a rematch of last year's Super Bowl. Quarterback Drake Maye tossed three interceptions in the fourth quarter alone, including a brutal decision on a late third down when New England was in position to at least tie the game with a field goal.
However, it wasn't all bad news on the offensive side of the ball for New England.
"Will Campbell allowed just 1 pressure on 44 pass block snaps last night, a major improvement over the 8 pressures he allowed in the Super Bowl. He's on pace for a leap forward in year 2 now that he's fully healthy," reported NFL Draft Files on X, formerly Twitter.

Saoirse Ronan made her first return to the red carpet since giving birth to her first child, attending the Orizzonti Corti Fuori Concorso E Concorso screening during the Venice Film Festival at Sala Giardino this evening.
Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty Images
It was an understated return, with the Irish actress wearing a navy-blue Louis Vuitton dress that kept the focus on its clean silhouette. The silver zip running along the side was the only real point of detail.
Considering this was her first red carpet appearance in some time, I wasn't expecting Saoirse to make a dramatic comeback. This felt more in keeping with her style: simple, unfussy and confident enough to let the cut do the work. I also like that the zip gives the dress some edge.
Even the jewellery followed the same approach. Saoirse wore a Les Honneurs earring and Tumbler ear cuff in white gold and diamonds from Louis Vuitton's High Jewelry collection, which added just enough sparkle without changing the mood of the look.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Maybe there is a public embrace to be had by dueling executives Vlad Tenev and Adam Aron.
"I'm open to it, you know, I love debates. I'm open to many things," Robinhood (HOOD) co-founder and CEO Vlad Tenev told Yahoo Finance from the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Tech Conference (video above).
A fierce public war of words erupted on X between AMC Entertainment (AMC) CEO Adam Aron (known as the "Silverback" on X) and Tenev over the brokerage's extensive use of stock tokens that track AMC shares.
Aron ignited the dispute by blasting tokenization — the practice of issuing digital versions of ***** ets, such as stocks, on a blockchain network — as "contemptible," "vile," and "disgusting," demanding a cease-and-desist order while threatening legal action.
"What's the concern?" Tenev fired back, insisting that Robinhood's debt-backed derivatives do not require permission from the underlying companies.

The FIBA World Cup is underway, and the United States women are once again the heavy favorite to walk away with the gold medal. The US hasn't lost in the World Cup since 2006, and this year's roster is stacked with both veteran and up-and-coming talent.
Their biggest threat has long appeared to be France, who have dominated all three games of Group Play action and finished with the silver medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
But, there's another, more under-the-radar team that has impressed in the early days of the World Cup: Belgium.
Belgium beat Australia 80-68 on Monday behind a monster performance from Emma Meesseman, who exploded for 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting, along with 10 rebounds, 8 ******* ists, and 2 steals. Julie Vanloo (12 points, 5 ******* ists) and Julie Allemand (11 points, 7 ******* ists) were also both highly impactful.
Australia is a powerhouse of its own. Its roster includes 8 WNBA players: Ezi Magbegor (Seattle Storm), Chloe Bibby (Minnesota Lynx), Isobel Borlase (Atlanta Dream), Milea Sowah (Golden State Valkyries), Rebecca Allen (New York Liberty), Jade Melbourne (Storm), Alanna Smith (Dallas Wings), and Steph Talbot (Las Vegas Aces).
