On August 19, Ferrovial (NASDAQ:FER) announced it had been selected to deliver the I-24 Southeast Choice Lanes, a 26-mile project running between Nashville and Murfreesboro. It is the largest single capital investment in Tennessee's history and the state's first public-private partnership. The price tag is $9.2 billion, though Ferrovial isn't carrying it alone, since its DriveTN consortium also counts Transurban and Tikehau Star Infra as partners.
Choice lanes are familiar ground for Ferrovial, which has replicated the model in Washington, D.C., Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth. On Virginia's 66 Express corridor, similar lanes shaved up to 50% off peak-hour travel times. That is the pitch for I-24, a stretch of highway that already ranks among the region's most jammed: drivers who opt in get steadier speeds, and those in the free lanes should see less traffic too.
The business behind the bid looks healthy, too. Ferrovial's July 28 results showed adjusted EBITDA up 21.6% on a like-for-like basis to €746 million over the first six months of the year, with U.S. highways doing most of the lifting. Those roads are sending cash home as well, since Ferrovial received €357 million in dividends from North America. And the construction order book reached an all-time high of €18 billion, so plenty of work is already in hand. The pipeline keeps filling: Ferrovial bid on I-285 East in Georgia in July, and its D35 Highway bid in the Czech Republic was the most cost-effective submitted, with technical evaluation still underway.
Beyond the roads, the balance sheet looks sturdy. Ferrovial ended the first half with €1.3 billion in net cash, excluding infrastructure projects, meaning cash outweighs debt outside those projects. The airport arm is progressing too: Ferrovial has finished funding the $1.1 billion in equity it pledged for New Terminal One at JFK, and construction there is 92% complete.
Start with the line that looks worst on the page. Net profit for the first half of 2026 came in at €258 million, versus €540 million for the same period of 2025. An email sent to an investor from the FBI's Dallas Division shared with The Real Deal revealed that the agency has opened an investigation into Venetos, Lurin Capital and **** ociated entities. The note provided an email address through which victims can provide comments and ask questions: LurinVictimsfbi.gov.

After watching home prices explode during the pandemic, one recent buyer has a question that probably sounds familiar to anyone who has looked at real estate lately: How can this possibly continue?
The buyer, who recently purchased a home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, asked Reddit's r/RealEstate community where the ceiling is if home prices keep appreciating while incomes struggle to keep pace.
"At some point don't we just reach a point where no one can afford a home?" they asked. They were even worried that continued appreciation could eventually make their own home difficult to sell because there wouldn't be enough buyers who could afford it.

Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer addressed the reports linking him to the NBA during the offseason.
The Blue Devils head coach was reportedly linked to Dallas Mavericks through the offseason as a potential replacement for Jason Kidd. The Mavericks ultimately hired former Michigan coach Dusty May.
Scheyer discussed the NBA interest on the Glue Guys Podcast on Monday, Sept. 14.
"If anybody that knows me, I wouldn't be able to live with myself not seeing this thing through, that's just the bottom line," Scheyer said. "I'm at a one-of-one place where (it's) not often you get your dream job when you're 33, and that's what happened to me."
Scheyer took over for Mike Krzyzewski in 2022 after spending nine seasons on his predecessor's staff. A former Duke national champion and two-time team captain, Scheyer is entering his fifth season as the program's head coach. He owns a 124-25 career record, the most wins by any Division I head coach in their first four seasons, and has led the Blue Devils to three ACC Tournament championships, three NCAA Elite Eight appearances and one Final Four.

The New York Giants are adding former Dallas Cowboys running back Phil Mafah to the practice squad, the team announced Monday.
Following the incredible upset win over the Cowboys to begin the season, the Giants add some depth to the running back room behind Cam Skattebo.
A former seventh-round pick with the Cowboys during the 2025 NFL draft, Mafah has only appeared in one career game since entering the league. He has five carries for 18 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions on two targets for 11 receiving yards.
The Giants aren't planning to make any major changes to the running back room. While Skattebo will lead the way, there was a clear rotation with Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy Jr in the backfield. Najee Harris was a healthy scratch in Week 1.
In other roster news, the Giants waived wide receiver Dalen Cambre from the roster.

The John Harbaugh era got off to a rousing start last night with the New York Giants defeating the division rival Dallas Cowboys 28-20 at a raucous MetLife Stadium. (When was the last time "raucous" and "MetLife" appeared in the same sentence about a Giants game?) Let's see what the **** ysts at Pro Football Focus thought of the individual player performances.
Focusing first on the passing, Jaxson Dart's 23 of 29, 230-yard, 3 TD, 0 INT performance was given a grade of…65.8, smack in the middle of their "average" range. I'm sure fans will take Dart's highly efficient game, as evidenced by his excellent 134.2 NFL passer rating last night, every week. PFF, though, grades on degree of difficulty and taking care of the ball. Dart didn't have any interceptions, but in PFF's eyes he had two turnover-worthy plays, which they see as being just as bad. He also did not have any "big-time," throws, i.e., **** placed accurately into tight windows and especially those that go deep downfield for explosive plays. Dart only threw three **** beyond 20 yards and only completed one. To quote Seinfeld, "Not that there's anything wrong with that," but that's what PFF values. Dart did what he had to do to win the game. In the long run, he'll have to show that he can hurt opposing defenses deep on a consistent basis, but for one game the short-range passing game was just fine.
Let's look at the effect of pressure:
Dart was an amazing 19 of 22 when kept clean, including all three of his TD passes. When pressured he was 4 of 7 for 57 yards, but both of his TWPs came under pressure.

Watt, who finished No. 1 in Chron's Top 25 Texans Ranking and current CBS Sports ******* yst, took the No. 1 color commentator role alongside CBS play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz for Sunday's tilt between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. Watt replaced Tony Romo, of Dallas Cowboys fame, in the top spot after the former quarterback went on indefinite leave following his arrest on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Wisconsin earlier this summer.

The Wisconsin Badgers comfortably beat the Western Illinois Leathernecks on Saturday, but the score didn't capture the full picture, as it was an up-and-down game for the home team at Camp Randall Stadium.

By the time Lincoln Financial Field's clock struck 0:00 late Sunday afternoon and the Eagles had survived a 24-22 Week 1 win over the Washington Commanders, a palpable sense of relief could be felt by the fanbase.

Hope season for the New York Giants lasted longer than most teams this year, and so too did the questions that hung over their offseason.
With the second-to-last kick-off of opening weekend, Giants fans had to wait, and wait… and wait to find out what their team would look like in 2026. Likewise, they also had to wait until the last minute to find out whether star receiver Malik Nabers would even play against the Dallas Cowboys.
Nabers' status remained unclear even into Sunday afternoon, and reports eventually emerged that Nabers would be a true game-time decision.
Even Nabers himself wasn't sure if he'd be ready to go against the Cowboys. He even told his family to not come to the game, in case he wouldn't be able to play.
"I really didn't know; my family didn't even come to this game because it's a one-on-one battle that you have go through. You have to do it for yourself," he said after the game. "I didn't want everybody here, I didn't want my family here and I feel like I let them down by not playing, so I had to do it for myself first. I had to go out there, feel it out, feel like I was doing it and I felt good."

Yet if it wasn't for a tackle from John Harbaugh, Malik Nabers' name might not be in the box score at all. The New York Giants star receiver had been on the fence about playing all week long, hesitant to step onto the MetLife Stadium field – the same field where he suffered a torn ACL last season.
Nabers figures to be a key piece to the Giants' offense, but he needed some reassurance before giving it a go on "Sunday Night Football" against the rival Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. And that reassurance came in the form of a tackle from his new head coach during walkthroughs, quarterback Jaxson Dart shared after the game.
"Things were just up-in-the-air, we didn't know exactly what was gonna happen," Dart said, "Me and Coach Harbs kinda had some conversations and he's like, 'You know what? I think that once he gets hit for the first time and realizes that he's OK, he's gonna feel confident.'"
Dart said that in Harbaugh's mind, that meant the coach had to tackle his star receiver.
