(NewsNation) — The attorney for Elizabeth Siders pushed back on suggestions 16 children recently pulled from squalid conditions in Hamden, Ohio, are "almost feral," as one authority described.
"We've already debunked the myth that these kids were almost feral," lawyer Tommy Stolly tells Chris Cuomo on the latest "Crime Time" podcast. "The ones that were of appropriate age had social media pages. There's evidence of that online now."

Authorities on June 30 raided the Vinton County residence of 33-year-old Siders and her husband, Gary Siders Jr., 36, and charged them with felony child endangerment. "They looked like almost feral animals," Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson told reporters. "It was terrible."

(NewsNation) — Gary Siders Jr., the Ohio father of 16 charged with child endangerment after his children were found living in a "house of horrors," was charged in four separate public indecency incidents over a nine-day span just a month before his arrest.
Siders, 36, was charged with four counts of public indecency before authorities raided his home in Hamden, a village about 75 miles south of Columbus. Court records obtained by People show the alleged incidents occurred May 23, 27, 29 and 31.

While details of the allegations were not available, court records indicate all four counts stem from an alleged violation of an Ohio law that prohibits "recklessly exposing the person's private parts."

Neighbors of the family in tiny Hamden, employees at local stores where they shopped and even the investigators who responded to the scene have been left to wonder that aloud and to themselves, and the limited information shared by investigators doesn't offer a full answer.
The children weren't enrolled in school, the family moved around over the past two decades, and neighbors said they'd never spotted the kids. The children remained mostly confined to a small room in the house, investigators said, under deplorable conditions.
"Right under our noses and ******* ody was able to help them sooner," said Emily Collins, 27, owner of VC Farm & Floral in nearby McArthur. "It's just crazy that all the wonderful things going on in our little Hallmark town and this is what puts us on the radar. It's really sad," said the mother of three, who was compelled to decorate the sidewalk with bright flowers and stars drawn in chalk to cheer herself up.
Authorities said they had gone to the home Tuesday on an unrelated investigation and discovered the children — ages 1 1/2 to 18 years old — some of whom were unable to speak.
