American Olympic gold medalist and PWHL star Kendall Coyne Schofield has announced that she is pregnant with her second child.
The 34-year-old, who married former NFL offensive lineman and Super Bowl champion Michael Schofield in 2018, shared the news on social media.
The announcement sheds light on Coyne Schofield's absence from the ice on Wednesday night, when Team USA faced off against Team Canada in Windsor, Ont. While named to the national team's fall training camp rosters, Coyne Schofield, a staple of the U.S. program since 2011, did not dress for the game.
A four-time Olympian, Coyne Schofield won her second gold medal at the Milan Cortina Winter Games in February. She has won seven IIHF Women's World Championships and established herself as one of the foundational figures in women's professional hockey and a key player in the creation of the PWHL.
Coyne Schofield gave birth to her first child, son Drew, in July 2023. Six months later, she was back on the ice for the PWHL's inaugural season in January 2024 as captain of the league's Minnesota franchise. The team won the first Walter Cup championship, and then another in 2025. Individually, Coyne Schofield has been one of the very best players in the PWHL over the last three seasons. Only Canadian captain Marie-Philip Poulin and teammate Taylor Fox (née Heise) have scored more career points than Coyne Schofield's 63 career points in 77 games, all scored with the Minnesota Frost since the PWHL's inaugural season in 2024.

Ford picked the Fourth of July to remind everyone it's serious about Le Mans, and it did it the smart way — not with a spec sheet, but with a sound. On Independence Day, Ford Racing posted a short clip of its still-secret prototype: a sheet half-draped over the bodywork, the blue-and-white development camo peeking out around the door, and the naturally aspirated V8 idling behind the ******* pit. No power figure, no full reveal, just a few seconds of engine note dropped on the country's 250th birthday. As teasers go, it's a good one, because the noise really is the whole point.
Strip away the marketing timing and there's a substantial program underneath. Here's what's actually beneath that cover, pulled from Ford's own materials and the championship's rulebook rather than paddock rumor.
Ford's own release confirms the car uses a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V8, designed and built in Dearborn, sharing its architecture with the V8 Ford already races in the Mustang Dark Horse R, GT4 and GT3. Program boss Dan Sayers says it's already turning promising numbers on the dyno. What Ford has pointedly not published is a horsepower figure — and that isn't coyness, it's the regulations.
The Hypercar class doesn't reward building the most powerful thing you can. The FIA and ACO cap combined output at 500 kW — roughly 680 horsepower — and set a minimum weight of 1,030 kg, then lean on Balance of Performance to squeeze the whole field toward the same lap time. They even clamp torque meters onto the driveshafts to measure and limit that power live, on track. So whether Ford's 5.4 makes 700 or 900 on the bench is almost beside the point: once it races, it'll be pegged to the same ceiling as a Ferrari's turbo V6 or a Cadillac's V8 and balanced against them. The engineering that actually wins here is fuel efficiency, cooling, reliability, and how little you give away over 24 hours — not a dyno headline.

Three women’s hockey players — Chloe Primerano, Abbey Murphy and Caitlin Kraemer — are participating in the Edmonton Oilers’ development camp this week.
In recent years, women such as Marie-Philip Poulin and Kendall Coyne Schofield have been on the ice during NHL teams’ development camps as guest coaches — Poulin with the Montreal Canadiens, Coyne Schofield with the Chicago Blackhawks. But in this case, this trio of players will be full participants.
Oilers general manager Stan Bowman had the idea to invite elite women’s hockey players to camp after watching the Milan Olympic women’s hockey tournament as an ****** istant general manager with the U.S. men’s team.
“They were putting on a show for everybody,” Bowman told The Athletic. “It was really high-level hockey on display and I was so impressed by it, that’s when it came to me — we should take some of these players and try to bring them to camp.”
Bowman contacted Murphy, Primerano and Kraemer in May asking if they’d like to attend the week-long camp, which began on Monday. Kraemer told reporters in Edmonton on Tuesday she thought the text from Bowman was spam. Primerano also had difficulty believing the invitation.
