ORCHARD PARK - One of the most fascinating aspects of the Buffalo Bills' 5-1 start is how efficient Josh Allen and the offense have been, and given the terrible play of the defense, it's exactly what has been needed.
The Bills lead the NFL in points per game at 32.8, and since the defense has allowed at least 29 points in five of the games, every point was necessary, and that will probably be the case Sunday at Highmark Stadium when the Bills host the Baltimore Ravens.
But here's what's crazy: The Bills have scored all these points despite the fact that they have run just 359 plays, tied for the second-fewest in the NFL. Yes, some of that has to do with playing only six games while others have played seven, but consider this: While the Bills average 59.8 offensive snaps, the Chicago Bears average 72.1, and the Los Angeles Rams average 68.2.
"I just think it's efficiency. Like, I go back to Week 1 when we had the ball at our two-yard line, and then I think three plays and we scored," said center Connor McGovern, recalling a series against the Texans late in the first half when the Bills actually went 96 yards to take a 24-14 lead, one of nine TD drives this season that have been achieved in six plays or less. "We're able to just get up there, calm, cool, if we get that first first down we're just rolling with that."
Of course, part of the low offensive snap count has to do with the Bills' defense not being able to get off the field and the opposition has averaged 32 minutes of time of possession. That's a key reason why the Bills are in hyper speed mode so often.

Angelique S. Chengelis, Connor Earegood, John Niyo, and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Saturday's Michigan-Rutgers game at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey (12:30 p.m., Big Ten Network/94.7 FM).
▶ Angelique S. Chengelis: Rutgers coach Greg Schiano has always been tied to defense, but the Scarlet Knights have struggled defensively this season and ranks 128th in scoring. That could make this the "get-right" game for Michigan's offense, which is sorely in need of a confidence-building performance, especially from the run game and offensive line. Michigan's No. 3-ranked defense likely won't have the challenge it was expecting now that Rutgers QB Dylan Lonergan has been ruled out. He left last week's game at Northwestern in the first quarter because of a hit to the head and backup AJ Surace has struggled with six touchdowns against five interceptions this season. Michigan's defensive backs were expected to have their hands full facing 6-foot-6 receiver KJ Duff, but he is "doubtful" for the game, according to the Big Ten availability report. Pick: Michigan, 31-10
▶ Connor Earegood: Rejoice, Jason Beck. You're going to save your job this week. This Michigan offense may be wasting one of the nation's best defenses, but it will get an important tune-up against Rutgers. You know, the Rutgers team that lost to UMass, which is 1-3 in Mid-American Conference play. Oh, Rutgahs. Its availability report suggests some key starters will not play. Its starting QB is hurt, its star receiver is doubtful. A one-read quarterback could probably pick its defense apart at full strength. That's a good opponent for a true freshman in Tommy Carr to face in his second career start, after the **** er of the unknown wore off last week and showed you that maybe, just maybe, it isn't the guy under center who's the problem but rather the guy calling his plays. If Beck takes some inspiration from the Michigan Stadium videoboard and runs the ball between the tackles from time to time, Michigan should roll to an easy win. If it's another stinker, it will make for an interesting crowd in next week's rivalry game. Pick: Michigan, 34-7
▶ John Niyo: If Rutgers can't cure Michigan's offensive woes, nothing will. Greg Schiano's days appear numbered in Piscataway, and the statistical numbers make it obvious why: Rutgers ranks 128th nationally in scoring defense and has given up 161 points in four Big Ten games thus far. Of course, that's more points than the Wolverines have scored in seven games this season. But this defense should be the cure Michigan's inefficient run game needs, and no matter who's playing quarterback, there'll be opportunities to create explosive plays in the pass game. In four Big Ten games, Rutgers already has given up 15 plays of 30-plus yards. Pick: Michigan, 34-16
▶ Bob Wojnowski: There's no such thing as a breather for the Wolverines, with six of their seven games decided on the final possession. Last week's OT loss to Indiana wa

Chicago Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill did not hide his frustration after Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. He called the performance a major step backward, criticizing his players' effort, skating and attention to detail.
The Blackhawks entered the game looking to build consistency. Instead, they struggled defensively and allowed Detroit to control the game, despite captain Connor Bedard's early goal.
"We had just way too many guys that wasn't close, not enough good," Blashill told NHL reporters.

Detroit Red Wings star Dylan Larkin, frustrated with the lack of progress on his trade request, is taking the Connor **** ebuyck playbook.
Larkin reported to training camp while waiting for the Red Wings to pull off a deal. **** ebuyck didn't show up and was suspended by the Winnipeg Jets.
The award-winning goalie and fellow U.S. Olympian was the first of the two to be traded, heading to the New Jersey Devils for a big haul. Now Larkin says he won't play.

The "disappointed" Red Wings have suspended Larkin without pay, interim general manager Shawn Horcoff said.

LAS VEGAS - In the zaniness of the play that resulted in his touchdown flip to Keon Coleman, Josh Allen didn't really know what happened.
He had Bills Mafia to thank for that.
"It's so hard in these away games, which feel like home games, once you hear the crowd go crazy, you're like, 'I don't know if it's a touchdown, I don't know if it's an interception,'" Allen said with a smile Sunday night following the Buffalo Bills' latest nutty victory, a 33-30 shootout over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Oh, it was a touchdown, one of the highlight plays of a season that is already filled with them for Allen and the Buffalo offense.
"That was a show, for sure," Bills center Connor McGovern said. "That was one of those, I stopped, I was like, holy (crap), he just did that."

Prince Harry is opening up like never before about grief and what losing his mother, Princess Diana, at age 12 has meant for nearly every chapter of his life since.
In Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss, a new MasterClass available Oct. 8, the Duke of Sussex, 42, sits down with neuroscientist and grief expert Dr. Mary-Frances O'Connor for an intimate and at times deeply emotional conversation about loss, trauma and the ways grief can affect both the brain and body.
Rather than a traditional interview, the class — timed ahead of World Mental Health Day on Oct. 10 — unfolds as a candid exchange between Harry and O'Connor, a professor of clinical psychology and psychiatry at the University of Arizona whose research focuses on the psychological and physiological effects of bereavement. Together, they explore the science of grief and resilience while Harry draws extensively on his own life — from losing Diana and serving in Afghanistan to therapy, panic attacks, his marriage to Meghan Markle and life as a father.
"I didn't cry when I was told my mom died, only at her burial, and then not again for nearly two decades," he says near the start of the class. "I was convinced that was strength, but it wasn't. It was a 12-year-old boy with no permission to fall apart and no roadmap for how to heal."
"You would think I had the best help in the world. I'm a prince for God's sake, but I was still grieving and didn't have any place to put those feelings," he continues.

Piper Sandler believes Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) is the leader in ASIC chips, holding 75% share of the ASIC market for AI inference. On September 9, firm ******* yst David O'Connor initiated coverage on the stock with an Overweight rating and a $460 price target.
O'Connor estimates demand running twice the available supply for Broadcom, which makes the ability to deliver chips central to his thesis. Even though the chipmaker boasts demand, component availability and deployment timing will determine its conversion into earnings.
The biggest advantage that Broadcom holds is that it doesn't need to win new customers, but to keep expanding what it ships to the ones it already has. The company is already ramping Meta's MTIA program and OpenAI's Jalapeno chips, along with two other customers.
Google's TPU program remains Broadcom's major volume ASIC program, while Anthropic is also scaling deployments using AVGO-enabled TPU compute. Broadcom also boasts a rising networking attach rate, which is currently around 30%. This would likely generate an estimated $20-30 billion of total content per gigawatt of deployed capacity.
The firm has a line of sight to 12 gigawatts of demand in fiscal 2027, rising toward an estimated 38 gigawatts by fiscal 2030. This underpins a roughly 51% EPS compound growth rate through the decade.

Lilac is the unexpected colour of the night, with Florence Pugh and Sarah Pidgeon wearing the same hue, but sadly, the colour is where my enthusiasm ends with this Prada gown.
And the issues remain the same. I feel like I'm just repeating myself at this point.
Have a signature by all means with this silhouette, which in this case comes with a cape-style back featuring symmetrical bows, but when the tailoring and fabric – this time silk faille – consistently become the main talking points for the wrong reasons, it's just disappointing for such a big brand.

Back in April, Morgan Stanley had highlighted how accelerating Agentic AI demand could boost demand for central processing units (CPUs) beyond the graphic chips that have dominated the AI theme so far.
"As AI transitions from generation to autonomous action, the computing bottleneck is shifting towards CPU and memory, driving a step-change in general-purpose compute intensity."
The firm estimated that agentic AI could add $32.5–60 billion to a data-center CPU market already exceeding $100 billion by 2030.
Piper Sandler now backs this claim, ******* erting that Agentic AI is driving demand for Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)'s CPU server products amid limited supply. On September 9, Piper Sandler ******* yst David O'Connor initiated coverage on Intel with a Neutral rating and a $110 price target.

After a goalless opening 87 minutes, Joel Chima Fujita broke the deadlock in the 88th minute to finally give St. Pauli the breakthrough they had been searching for.
The result ends St. Pauli's wait for a first league victory of the campaign, having collected just three points from their opening four matches before tonight's meeting. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the season after beginning the campaign unbeaten.
There was plenty of attacking intent from both sides during an entertaining first half, although neither could find the breakthrough.
Wolfsburg came closest inside the opening five minutes when Fabian Reese struck the crossbar from a free-kick, while St. Pauli goalkeeper Ben Voll was then forced into action to deny Muhammed Damar.
The hosts responded as Connor Metcalfe tested Jakub Zielinski from distance before Abdoulie Ceesay came close to opening the scoring in the 12th minute. The St. Pauli forward met a dangerous free-kick from close range but headed straight at the Wolfsburg goalkeeper.

ESPN College GameDay was very profitable for one University of Texas student. Each Week on the pregame show, former kicker Pat McAfee picks one student to take part in his Kicking is Easy field goal contest. This week, he picked Connor Kacena-Merrell from Zionsville, Indiana. And Matthew McConnaghey was on hand to help.
The Texas student from the Indianapolis-area complimented McAfee on his philanthropic efforts and said he enjoyed watching McAfee and new Pro Football Hall of Famer Adam Vinatieri at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Colts.
The freshman also said he would donate half his winnings to Building Tomorrow, an Indianapolis-based non-profit organization that works with communities in East Africa to give children access to quality education.
Kacena-Merrell had plenty of leg in his first attempt, but pulled it just a little bit wide right. McConnaghey and ESPN College GameDay's Kirk Herbstreit each promised to add $100,000 to the pot and gave Kacena-Merrell a second chance. Kacena-Merrell took advantage.
The UT student booted a strong kick right down the middle to win $1.2 million dollars. No matter what happens at the Texas-Ohio State game tonight, it was a great day for the young man from Indiana.

Holdingford, MN — First and 10 from the thirty-yard line, down seven with three timeouts and just under three minutes left to play.
It is what every little kid playing football dreams of when they are playing in the backyard. The situation was perfect. With about half of the City of Holdingford gathered around the field, and an eerie thunderstorm looming behind, the ambiance surrounding Holdingford Field was palpable.
In a game where Royalton scored zero offensive points, quarterback Connor Boser and the Royals had the perfect opportunity to right the ship and spoil coach Brody Anderson's home opener.
Becker Football: Meet the future medical professional and D-I recruit leading the Bulldog offense
Although it may not be exactly where he wants to be come crunch time, Anderson was unphased.
