It is clear from Tottenham's summer transfer business that they have big ambitions in the Women's Super League next season.
Martin Ho's side have strengthened in the market, building a squad that, on paper, could cause a stir among the league's top clubs.
They finished fifth in the WSL last season - a significant improvement on the year before when they flirted with relegation.
Tottenham broke their club-record signing this summer to bring in France defender Alice Sombath from Lyon, having spent around £375,000 on Signe Gaupset in January.
They also signed forwards Shekiera Martinez and Kirsty Hanson, defender Caitlin Dijkstra, midfielder Victoria Pelova and goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen.

The WNBA's momentum, which started gaining steam with Caitlin Clark's arrival in the 2024 draft, has been unstoppable. Heading into the 2026 season, ESPN's VP of women's sports programming and espnW, Susie Piotrkowski, spoke about the network's view of Clark as a "gateway drug" into women's sports.
"If that brought you in, I'm going to keep you here," Piotrkowski said.
Through the first half of the season, she, along with the WNBA's other media partners in its new 11-year, $2.2 billion media deal, have delivered. The league held its 2026 All-Star Weekend in Chicago over the weekend, and per a report from Austin Karp at Sports Business Journal, WNBA telecasts are up 12% compared to last season at the All-Star Break across its rights partners.
To Piotrkowski's credit, Clark has certainly been the biggest driver of that success, as the top seven broadcasts in the first half of the season all involved her Indiana Fever. Indiana's win over the New York Liberty on July 18, which averaged 2.58 million viewers, was the most-watched WNBA telecast ever on CBS, and the second-most-watched WNBA game this season, behind only Fever-Las Vegas Aces (2.64 million) on NBC and Peacock on July 12.
Unsurprisingly, Clark's ratings impact was also felt over All-Star Weekend.

Indiana Fever fans have long admired Caitlin Clark and Flau'jae Johnson's relationship. Clark and Johnson have maintained their dynamic despite their battles in college. On Tuesday, Clark's gesture towards Johnson after the Indiana Fever's 105-95 win against the Seattle Storm won everyone's hearts.
The superstar guard seemingly asked Johnson to keep her chin up after a rough game. The rookie finished with 16 points, but shot a measly 26.7% from the field and was 0-for-6 from long distance. In Tuesday night's Indiana Fever win over the Seattle Storm, Caitlin Clark was on one. Clark tallied 32 points on 9-14 shooting to go along with 7 ****** ists and 4 rebounds, and the Fever improved to 18-10 on the season.

And, this year, she's shooting 44.3% from the field and 35.4% from three, both career-highs. While turnovers continue to be an Achilles heel, she's averaging fewer per game this year (4.7) than in her rookie campaign (5.6).

The Indiana Fever star was not among the participants the league announced Tuesday, July 21 for Friday's contest at All-Star weekend in Chicago. Clark declined her invitation, USA TODAY first reported. No reason was given.
Clark was not the only player to decline. Minnesota's Kayla McBride also turned down an invitation, according to ESPN.
Reigning champion Sabrina Ionescu is also not taking part, saying she was not invited. The New York Liberty star's 37-point round remains the highest score in the event's history, including the NBA version.
Clark will still be in the main event on Saturday, July 25. She drew 1,023,321 fan votes, second-most in the league, and will captain Team Spoon, named after Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon, in the All-Star Game at 8:30 p.m. ET at the United Center.
