Texas football news: Robert Griffin III says Longhorns let Arch Manning down appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Texas Longhorns took on the Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday night in a star-studded affair that saw Kevin Durant testing his quarterback skills and Matthew McConaughey narrating an exciting hype video. Texas QB Arch Manning took the field in a matchup against budding rival Julian Sayin but had a rough first half as Ohio State seized a 23-3 lead headed into the fourth quarter.
Manning threw an interception that fans couldn't believe, as he lofted a well-placed pass that was bobbled, dropped, and picked off. With just 60 yards at halftime, Manning's performance was heavily scrutinized, while former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL Pro Bowler pointed the finger at his Longhorns teammates.
"Texas' WRs are letting Arch Manning down," Griffin III said matter-of-factly as the game continued to progress.

Texas football news: Watch Kevin Durant test his QB arm at Ohio State clash appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Texas Longhorns welcomed Ohio State to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday for a big game that didn't go the 'Horns' way early, as the Buckeyes jumped out to a 20-3 halftime lead. Texas quarterback Arch Manning made a brutally honest admission about last year's game film of his team's loss to Ohio State but did little to change it as he completed only 50% of his passes in the first half for 60 yards with one interception.
The game included celebrity pregame appearances from Houston Rockets star and Longhorns alum Kevin Durant along with actor Matthew McConaughey, who narrated an ice-cold hype video before the marquee matchup.
Durant got plenty of attention as he was seen on the sidelines showing off his quarterback skills on the same night as Manning and Ohio State QB Julian Sayin's duel. He appeared calm and content in a black T-shirt, long pants, and white baseball cap, looking like he could pass as a college quarterback while slinging passes with ease.

He also brought out his friend and "True Detective" co-star Woody Harrelson who was seen chatting with athletic director Chris Del Conte. Gov. Greg Abbott was there, too.
Then there were the sports legends of the school in attendance. Former running back Ricky Williams and quarterback Colt McCoy were also spotted as well as former Texas volleyball player Madisen Skinner.

Falcons news: Bijan Robinson's text he's received from Matthew McConaughey is heartwarming appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Atlanta Falcons will be opening their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the hope is that their offense can take things to another level. That will depend on a lot of things, but one of the main factors will be Bijan Robinson, who has put himself in the conversation for the best running back in the league.
Outside of shaking and baking opposing defenders, Robinson also has a love for acting, and he's brought up numerous times that he has a friendship with Matthew McConaughey. When Robinson signed his latest extension, he mentioned that McConaughey was one of the people who reached out to congratulate him.
Since people know that, Kay Adams asked Robinson on her show what the most random text he's received from the actor was.

Who would've thought when he was fired from Saturday Night Live that Shane Gillis would go on to become one of the biggest comedians on the planet? His stand-up comedy took off, he has his own series, Tires, available with a Netflix subscription, and he also just so happens to be a spokesperson for Bud Light, one of the biggest beers in the nation. Hopefully, all three of those things are still true later this week, following a viral clip where he (allegedly) indulged in a rival beer.
Gillis was seated next to Matthew McConaughey at an MLS game between Austin FC and FC Dallas. The official MLS account posted a clip, which showed Gillis sitting with a Dos Equis, which is owned by Heineken and is a major rival to Anheuser-Busch. It appears someone noticed the camera on the comedian and quickly handed the man a Bud Light. Check out the funny moment:
Anyone who watches professional sports has no doubt seen Shane Gillis in several Bud Light ads. He's acted as a celebrity face of the brand for a couple of years now, and his ads are very memorable and very funny.

The Atlanta Falcons' front office cut it close, but they got the last major order of business done just before the start of the preseason next week. That would be the massive contract extension they gave to running back Bijan Robinson, with his new three-year, $66.75 million deal making him the league's highest paid player at his position.
After getting his fifth-year option picked up, Robinson still had two years left on his former contract when he signed the new deal - a rarity around the NFL even for a player of Robinson's caliber.
For his part, Bijan says he will never forget the faith the Falcons showed in him, per Josh Kendall at The Athletic.
"I think it's kind of rare to do a running back deal two years early, so for them to do that is something I will never forget," Robinson said. "It's a testament to the faith they have in me, and I think that's pretty cool."
Fellow players, fans and coaches have been sharing their reactions to the deal ever since - but Robinson told Kendall that the first person to text him congratulations was actor and Texas Longhorns superfan Matthew McConaughey.

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson received a well-deserved contract extension on Tuesday, signing a three-year, $75 million deal including $51 million in guaranteed money. Robinson is now the NFL's highest-paid running back, but he isn't taking it for granted.
The former top-10 pick has been an ideal teammate both on and off of the field. Plus, Robinson's combination versatility and durability over his first three NFL seasons have made him one of the most consistent players in all of football.
Robinson said he heard from several people upon signing his new contract, including movie star Matthew McConaughey and former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith. While McConaughey will draw the most headlines, his relationship with Robinson has been well documented for many years.
Smith, who was Atlanta's head coach from 2021-2023, shared some advice with Robinson once the deal became official.
"Just because you got this contract doesn't mean you've got to start buying everything," Smith told Robinson via text.

Success stories rarely follow a straight path, and several of today's biggest stars once imagined futures in courtrooms rather than on movie sets or concert stages. Before becoming household names, many pursued law degrees, legal training, or seriously considered careers in the legal profession. Their journeys demonstrate that education can open many doors, but passion often leads people in unexpected directions. By choosing careers in entertainment instead of law, these celebrities reshaped not only their own lives but also the industries they entered.
Gemma Chan came remarkably close to becoming a corporate lawyer after studying law at the University of Oxford and securing a prestigious training contract with the renowned London law firm Slaughter and May. Instead, she chose drama school, a decision that eventually led to acclaimed performances in films such as Crazy Rich Asians and Eternals. Similarly, Gerard Butler earned a law degree from the University of Glasgow and worked as a trainee lawyer before deciding that acting was his true calling. Leaving the legal profession proved to be a defining moment, launching him into a successful career that includes blockbuster films such as the Has Fallen series.
Several other stars also balanced legal ambitions with creative dreams before making life-changing decisions. Kim Kardashian pursued California's legal apprenticeship program, inspired by her father, attorney Robert Kardashian, while becoming an outspoken advocate for criminal justice reform. Rebel Wilson completed a double degree in law and arts before comedy ultimately won her over, later explaining that her legal education sharpened her ability to **** yze characters and human behavior. John Legend also considered attending law school after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, but instead followed his passion for music, eventually becoming one of the few entertainers to achieve the prestigious EGOT, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
Another notable example is Matthew McConaughey, who originally planned to become a criminal defense lawyer while studying at the University of Texas. Shortly before applying to law school, he reevaluated his goals, switched to film studies, and embarked on the acting career that would eventually earn him an Academy Award. Although each of these celebrities followed a different path, their stories share a common message: career plans are not set in stone. Whether they completed legal studies or simply explored the profession, they proved that success often comes from having the courage to pursue what truly inspires you, even when it means leaving a promising career behind.

Matthew McConaughey delivered a patriotic, inspiring speech ahead of America's 250th celebration.
Ahead of the Fourth of July and the nation's 250th birthday, McConaughey sought to rally fellow Americans with a video message Friday. The actor posted a two-minute clip on social media explaining why he believes the country is great — and why there is no room for cynicism.
"We didn't start this country on any kind of proof, we started it on a belief that was worth fighting for," McConaughey said. "A wager that was worth betting on. An act of faith that a self-governing people could be something worth being and becoming. Here we are 250 years later – the bet's still on the table, folks. We have not cashed in, and lets hope we never cash in. We need skeptics, yes we do. We do not need cynics. One cares enough to question, which we should, and the other ones already quit. We don't need you."
You can watch the full video yourself below.
He finished: "So, here we are today lighting the fire, breaking the bread, raising a glass to our family and friends, and maybe even the neighbor we don't agree with. Today, we're going to let the kids run barefoot after dark, baby. That's the celebration. Not that we've arrived anywhere, but to the fact we're still on our way. Take inventory, with the one in the mirror and together. Here's to more dancing in the home of the brave. Happy 250th, America. Just keep living."

Have you ever wondered what sends shivers down the spines of Hollywood's brightest stars? While most of us know these celebrities for their huge talents and fearless personas, even the boldest A-listers have their peculiar fears. From everyday objects to strange animals, get ready to discover which of your favorite stars have surprising phobias that might be just as quirky as their red-carpet looks!
Known for his laid-back Southern charm, Matthew McConaughey has a fear that's anything but chill: revolving doors. The actor has openly discussed how these common fixtures make him uneasy — a curious contradiction to his usually easygoing persona. "I don't like revolving doors, and I really don't like that blind spot when you're driving and go into a tunnel," he said, as reported by IMDb.
Soccer legend David Beckham may be flawless on the field, but off the pitch, he admits to an obsession with order. In a 2006 interview with ITV1, per Independent, Beckham revealed he suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder, explaining, "I have to have everything in a straight line or everything has to be in pairs."
Elegant and graceful, Nicole Kidman surprises fans with her unusual phobia: ******* erflies. Despite facing high-pressure movie sets with ease, she admits she is genuinely scared of these delicate insects after encountering them at home while growing up in Australia. "I have tried to get over it. … I walked into the big ******* erfly cage at the American Museum of Natural History and had the ******* erflies on me, but that didn't work," she told Contact Music, according to Fox News.
The fierce supermodel Tyra Banks can handle anything on the runway, but admits to an intense fear of dolphins. Over the years, she's spoken out about her unease, making this the most unexpected phobia among top models, as reported by Cheat Sheet.
