TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) plans to invest $10 billion alongside its partners in Angola over the next five years, with the goal of maintaining and potentially increasing its oil production in the country. TotalEnergies currently produces around 450,000 barrels per day in Angola, making it the country's largest oil operator and accounting for more than 40% of its total output.
The investment will go toward existing operations, new exploration, and projects aimed at replacing production from Angola's aging offshore fields. One of the biggest projects in the pipeline is the $6 billion Kaminho development, which is expected to start producing oil in 2028. TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) is also expanding its exploration efforts after signing agreements for two additional offshore blocks. On top of that, the company recently announced a new discovery in Block 17 that could add roughly 6,000 barrels per day to production.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — The Trump administration has provided a $99.6 million loan to a U.S.-owned cell phone network operator in Africa to expand American tech presence on a continent where China's Huawei is a leading player.
The loan from the U.S. government's Export-Import Bank was announced by the operator Africell on Friday. It is the only U.S.-owned cell network operator in Africa.
Africell said in a statement the loan would "boost U.S.-based employment in the telecommunications sector and strengthen American technology leadership abroad." It said the money would allow it to invest specifically in American and European technology for its operations in the southern African country of Angola.
Africell also operates in Congo, Sierra Leone and Gambia, it said.
Huawei is the world's biggest supplier of telecommunications network equipment and is estimated to have supplied more than half the 4G and 5G network infrastructure in Africa.

The longstanding Thanksgiving rivalry game between the New Bedford High and Durfee football teams will take on a new twist this year.
As one of the state's longest running matchups, the Whalers and Hilltoppers will square off in the 135th edition on Thanksgiving Eve with the game being played at 4 p.m. at Fenway Park in Boston.
Presented by Cross Insurance, there will be four traditional Thanksgiving rivalry games played at Fenway Park on Nov. 24 and 25, the Boston Red Sox announced on Thursday, Sept. 3. General admission tickets are $20 and allow admittance to both games that day.
"It's really exciting," said New Bedford athletic director Tom Tarpey. "The players and staff are really excited."

Less than a day after the passing of legendary country music icon and entrepreneur Dolly Parton, another beloved celebrity has shuffled off this mortal coil. Tim Curry has passed away at the age of 80. The actor succumbed to health effects from a 2012 stroke on August 25, 2026.
Tim Curry was the child of a British Navy veteran and spent his youth in various foreign countries until settling in the seaside town of Plymouth when he was 11. He was interested in acting from a young age and turned that interest into serious study at the University of Birmingham. When he graduated in 1968, he was almost immediately cast in the London production of the hit play Hair.
It was there that history would be made when Tim Curry met Richard O'Brien, the writer of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The iconic role of Dr. Frank N. Furter was written specifically for Curry and elevated him to fame when it was adapted to film and became a cult classic. It was his flamboyant, Bowie-esque performance that made him a household name, even as his career in British television was also bringing him success.
He continued to act on stage throughout his career, but the 1980s saw him move to Hollywood as more film roles became available to him. He played the villain, aptly named Darkness, in Legend, and submarine medical officer Dr. Yevgeniy Petrov in The Hunt for Red October. But it was his comedy roles as the butler Wadsworth in Clue and as the harried hotel concierge Mr. Hector in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York that brought him back into the spotlight after his Rocky Horror fame.
Curry did play dramatic roles, such as the conniving Cardinal Richelieu in The Three Musketeers and fortune-hunter Herkermer ******* lka in Congo, but on film, it was his zany antics that earned him recognition. His 1996 appearance as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, a movie that built its success from the novelty of having made A Muppet Christmas Carol with Michael Caine, cemented Curry's status as a star. The person spoke to The **** ociated Press on condition of anonymity because the team had not confirmed the agreement. ESPN reported that **** inga's contract includes a player option for the second season, which would give the seventh overall pick from the 2021 draft an opportunity to hit the free agent market in a year.
Kuminga will fill an obvious need in the frontcourt for the Timberwolves, who traded Julius Randle and Naz Reid as part of their offseason acquisition of point guard LaMelo Ball.
Kuminga, who will turn 24 on Oct. 6, averaged a career-best 16.1 points during the 2023-24 season for the Golden State Warriors, who drafted the Congo native but never found the right fit for him before ultimately trading him to the Atlanta Hawks in February. **** inga fell out of favor with Warriors coach Steve Kerr and out of the rotation last season, making his departure an inevitability. He played in only seven of his last 38 games with the Warriors.

The Duke of Sussex has resigned from the board of wildlife charity African Parks ahead of his move back to the United Kingdom, his spokesperson told The Independent.
African Parks was embroiled in scandal last year after it admitted that some of its rangers committed human rights violations.
One allegation accused a guard of beating, raping and torturing Baka people living in Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of Congo.

Stroeykens, who was linked in the past to West Ham, has had a tumultuous career so far despite only being 21, with injuries having curtailed his progress. Health authorities have identified a person who has died from Ebola in the provincial capital Buta, an official from the National Institute for Biomedical Research told Reuters on Thursday.
Bas-Uele wasn't previously affected by the virus. The new case raised fears that people who have been in contact with the patient may have also been infected.
Delayed detection, conflict and strained health services have helped the virus spread more rapidly than in previous outbreaks.

Sean Carrington spent £550 on a leg tattoo of the World Cup trophy above the words "England World Cup Winner 2026" after The Three Lions' 2-1 win over DR Congo in the round of 32.
The 36-year-old was so convinced Thomas Tuchel's side would go all the way before Argentina prematurely ended England's chances of World Cup glory in a 2-1 defeat.
Now the roofer has returned to Holy Trinity Tattoo Studio in Standish to add "Just joking" underneath.
Following his second trip to the tattoo parlour, he told the BBC: "I'm more bothered that England hasn't won the World Cup than I am to have a tattoo on my leg".

The current outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain of the virus. It was declared on 15 May 2026 and surpasses the previous biggest outbreak between 2018 and 2020, which had nearly 3,500 recorded cases of whom almost 2,300 died.
There is currently no approved vaccine or treatment for the Bundibugyo strain, but vaccines are being developed in the UK and Singapore.

On the back of promising performances in pre-season friendlies against York City and Liverpool, Régis Le Bris is going to have a midfield selection dilemma ahead of the new season.
Granit Xhaka, Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki all showed their class at the World Cup, with Sadiki and Diarra standing out — Diarra bagging a couple of goals for Senegal and Sadiki shining in DR Congo's defeat to England in the round of sixteen.
Whilst these lads are currently on holiday and enjoying a well-deserved break after successful World Cup campaigns, there's an opportunity afoot for other lads to work their way into Le Bris' thinking going into the opening game against Ipswich Town.
Chris Rigg and Enzo Le Fée have been deployed in central positions during our two pre-season fixtures and have been standout performers. Rigg has clearly been on a fitness programme over the summer and has come back a couple of pounds stronger, whereas Le Fée has picked up where he left off at the back end of last season, scoring a fantastic solo strike against Liverpool on Saturday night.
The few games that we played last season without Xhaka in the starting eleven showed just how much we struggle without him, and although he's a certainty to be the first name on the team sheet most weeks, he's coming into the twilight of his career and will not be able to play up to potentially fifty games if we have a successful season.

Former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest striker Britt ******* ombalonga has joined National League North side Harborough Town on an undisclosed contract.
The 33-year-old, who has spent much of his career playing in the Championship and League One, was released by League Two side Barnet at the end of last season.
Assombalonga, a former DR Congo international, who has also had spells at Watford, Peterborough and Turkish side Antalyaspor, has made 486 senior appearances, scoring 173 goals.
"With Britt moving locally, we had the opportunity to bring him in for pre-season and see whether he still had the bit between his teeth," said Bees boss Mitch Austin.
"I'm going to be on him because I want him to have a high-scoring season with us. We want to get the best out of him while making sure he enjoys his football."

BUNIA, Congo (AP) — The death toll in Congo's Ebola outbreak has risen to at least 930, the country's Ministry of Health said on Monday, with 37 new deaths reported in a 24-hour span Friday into Saturday, one of the highest totals.
The deaths were recorded out of the 2,344 cases confirmed as of Saturday, the health ministry said.
The Ebola outbreak that was declared in eastern Congo on May 15 is the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record. The Bundibugyo virus responsible for the outbreak is less common than others that cause Ebola disease, and there is no approved vaccine or treatment.
Ebola is highly contagious and can be transmitted to people from wild animals. It spreads in the human population through contact with bodily fluids such as vomit, blood or ***** , and with contaminated surfaces and materials such as bedding and clothing. The disease is rare but severe and often fatal.
The surge in deaths comes as safety fears have restricted the response in the worst-affected province of Ituri. A total of five provinces have been affected, all in the eastern region where rebel violence is rampant.
