KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Pop superstar Taylor Swift was back at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night, and sitting alongside Tom Cruise, to watch new husband Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs open the NFL season against the Denver Broncos.
It was the first time Swift has seen Kelce play since they were married over the summer.
The 14-time Grammy Award winner decided to skip the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, though it wasn't necessarily a big surprise. Even though "The Eras Tour: The Final Show" was nominated for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded), the category winner already was announced at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, with "The Muppet Show" taking top honors.
The Emmys had fun with the possibility of Swift's attendance, airing a recorded bit where the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" cast, led by host Mariska Hargitay, is trying to figure out whether she will be there. Swift herself appears at the end, though not as herself.
"Maybe she'll do one those cool, pre-taped sketch things to support the host," Swift's character says.

Less than a day after the passing of legendary country music icon and entrepreneur Dolly Parton, another beloved celebrity has shuffled off this mortal coil. Tim Curry has passed away at the age of 80. The actor succumbed to health effects from a 2012 stroke on August 25, 2026.
Tim Curry was the child of a British Navy veteran and spent his youth in various foreign countries until settling in the seaside town of Plymouth when he was 11. He was interested in acting from a young age and turned that interest into serious study at the University of Birmingham. When he graduated in 1968, he was almost immediately cast in the London production of the hit play Hair.
It was there that history would be made when Tim Curry met Richard O'Brien, the writer of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The iconic role of Dr. Frank N. Furter was written specifically for Curry and elevated him to fame when it was adapted to film and became a cult classic. It was his flamboyant, Bowie-esque performance that made him a household name, even as his career in British television was also bringing him success.
He continued to act on stage throughout his career, but the 1980s saw him move to Hollywood as more film roles became available to him. He played the villain, aptly named Darkness, in Legend, and submarine medical officer Dr. Yevgeniy Petrov in The Hunt for Red October. But it was his comedy roles as the butler Wadsworth in Clue and as the harried hotel concierge Mr. Hector in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York that brought him back into the spotlight after his Rocky Horror fame.
Curry did play dramatic roles, such as the conniving Cardinal Richelieu in The Three Musketeers and fortune-hunter Herkermer ******* lka in Congo, but on film, it was his zany antics that earned him recognition. His 1996 appearance as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, a movie that built its success from the novelty of having made A Muppet Christmas Carol with Michael Caine, cemented Curry's status as a star. Like the ******* ens adaptation, the Muppet version of the Robert Lewis Stephenson classic became one of the most definitive film versions of the book.

Tim Curry, the English actor best known for his star turn as Dr Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic musical film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," has died at the age of 80, US media reported Wednesday.
Curry, who had struggled with his health for more than a decade after a debilitating stroke, died at his home in Los Angeles, TMZ said, citing unnamed sources.
The actor, who launched his career in London's West End theater district, first played the gender-bending mad scientist in "Rocky Horror" before reprising the role in the 1975 film, which is still a staple of midnight cinema showings more than 50 years later.
His other credits include the sinister clown Pennywise in a 1990 television miniseries version of Stephen King's "It" and films that included "Charlie's Angels" and "Muppet Treasure Island."
An impressive theatrical resume that began in the 1960s saw him do turns at the Royal Court Theatre and the Citizens Theatre, taking on roles written by Shakespeare, Brecht and Tom Stoppard, among others.

Lumen Field was designed for a moment like Friday’s. Under a blue sky dotted with clouds, the US men’s national team celebrated their victory over Australia with a lap around the stadium to thank their fans for creating a worthy atmosphere.
I’ve reported from four matches so far at this World Cup and the set list remains largely the same, no matter the venue. You’ll hear Dai Dai and Seven Nation Army. The growing boos that accompany the onset of a hydration break will be drowned out by Livin’ On A Prayer.
After the game is where the venues can play their own favorites. In Vancouver, that meant Freed From Desire. On Friday, Seattle opened the Great American Songbook and turned to one of its most weathered pages: Take Me Home, Country Roads.
The song has, of course, been belted out by soccer fans around the world before. We can’t say for certain that Seattle was trying to reclaim the song for the co-hosts, but the reaction from fans, who sang along in unison, and players, who soaked in the moment, has driven home that it ought to be a staple at US games.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a better artist to use for this purpose than John Denver. He’s a familiar figure across these 50 states, one of the first musicians schoolchildren are introduced to, a smiling soul flanked by mountains and the Muppets. My grandparents knew the song well. So, I’ve been told since Friday’s game, do my niece and nephews. It has endured since Denver’s tragic death in 1997.
