Most investors bury their mistakes in a footnote. Warren Buffett prints his in the shareholder letter, in plain English, with his name on it.
For most of the past decade, the story around Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) (BRK.B) and its industrial businesses was maintenance rather than growth. Railroads, utilities, insurance float, a slow grind of cash into the same pile.
The exciting money went somewhere else. It went into chips, cloud contracts and anything with a graphics processing unit bolted to it.
That framing skipped a physical step. Before one chip in a new data center draws a watt, somebody has to build the machine that produces the watt.
And the hottest, most stressed piece inside that machine is a cast slab of superalloy that only a handful of companies on earth know how to pour without cracking it.

Greg Abel took over as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) at the start of 2026. Former CEO Warren Buffett left Abel a huge gift: nearly $400 billion in cash on the company's balance sheet. Abel has put some of that cash to work buying Taylor Morrison Home, and some has been spent on publicly traded stock investments. However, Abel has also decided to buy back Berkshire Hathaway stock. That could be a positive sign. Here's why.
Under Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway didn't make a habit of buying back stock. The world-famous investor preferred to put cash to work by buying shares in other companies or buying companies outright. When he did buy back Berkshire Hathaway stock, it was because he believed the shares were undervalued.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
This dynamic is clearly explained in the company's 2025 10k, where the company states: "Berkshire's common stock repurchase program currently permits Berkshire to repurchase shares any time that Berkshire's Chief Executive Officer, after consultation with the Chairman of the Board, believes that the repurchase price is below Berkshire's intrinsic value, conservatively determined." The only limit on repurchase activity is that it can't reduce the company's cash and short-term investment balance below $30 billion.
Some market watchers had hypothesized that Berkshire Hathaway bought as much as $11 billion of its own stock in the second quarter, but the real number turned out to be roughly $4.5 billion. That said, the number was still quite large and, even then, given the huge cash balance the company has, it didn't put the company anywhere near the $30 billion cash limitation.

Up next on the cover of ELLE is none other than Julia Garner, who makes an appearance on the October edition of the magazine. In her American ELLE cover debut, the American actress lights up a cigarette in the unconventional cover photograph, captured by the photographer Allan Hamitouche. At some point after a busy first official day of shows, everyone needs a french fry. And luckily, Chanel had that arranged: the brand took over Balthazar on Thursday evening for a party to celebrate the debut of Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu, a new fragrance fronted by Gracie Abrams.
The crowd was heavy on of-the-moment young stars, including "Sterling Point" actors Ella Rubin, Keen Ruffalo and Amélie Hoeferle; "Euphoria" breakout Anna Van Patten; "Saturday Night Live" cast members Marcello Hernandez, Sarah Sherman and Veronika Slowikowska; actors Nick Robinson, Lux Pascal, Adam DiMarco, Hayes Warner; Knicks player Tyler Kolek, as well as Coco Jones, Amber Mark, Janicza Bravo, Olivia Jade, Kai Schreiber, Vivian Wilson, Paloma Elsesser, Imaan Hammam and more.

Anne Hathaway brought fisherman sandals into the summer-to-fall stretch at New York Fashion Week on Thursday. The actress attended the Moncler Fifth Avenue flagship opening in New York City with her husband, Adam Shulman, wearing The Row's black leather Capri Knotted Slides with a relaxed double denim ensemble. The shoes may have been the most understated part of the Erin Walsh-styled outfit, but they made a strong case for one of fashion's most useful transitional styles. With the seasons beginning to shift, Hathaway delivered an easy styling lesson for when the weather is unpredictable: wear a shoe that can do both. Warren Buffett spent his final stretch as Berkshire Hathaway's chief executive building the largest corporate cash reserve in American history.
He sold more stock than he bought for 14 consecutive quarters and effectively froze share repurchases across his final six, CNBC reported.
By the time he handed the role to Greg Abel on January 1, 2026, Berkshire's cash pile stood at $373.3 billion, a CNBC interview with Greg confirmed.
Three months into Abel's tenure, that reserve climbed to a record $397.4 billion at the end of the first quarter of 2026, according to Berkshire's 10-Q filing.
Six months into the job, Abel has reversed both positions. Berkshire became a net buyer of equities in the second quarter for the first time in more than three years, with buybacks also surging to $4.5 billion.

If there's one thing you learn after a few seasons of New York Fashion Week, it's that the shows are only half the fun. Sure, everyone spends the day running from runway to runway, but once the sun goes down, the fashion crowd has an entirely different schedule to keep. There are dinners, ****** tail parties, store openings, after-parties—and, inevitably, some nights that go much later than planned.
The spring/summer 2027 season is officially underway, and so is the party circuit. Things kicked off on September 8, when Siegelman Stable hosted a dinner at Pendry Manhattan West, where Carmelo Anthony, US Open semifinalist Frances Tiafoe, and New York Knicks guard Tyler Kolek, fresh off the team's championship season, all made appearances.
But the following night really got things going. On September 9, Bulgari brought Dua Lipa, Lisa, and Anne Hathaway to the High Line for a special Serpenti Infinito unveiling before the festivities moved to Boom. Lipa arrived at the after-party with her new husband, Callum Turner, and later hit the dance floor with Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams. Elsewhere in the city, Ugg and Willy Chavarria toasted the global launch of their collaboration at Ray's, while Coach followed its 85th-anniversary runway show with a club-style after-party of its own. Not bad for the first two nights—and the fashion week social calendar is only getting busier from here.
Ahead, find the best photos from New York Fashion Week's parties, dinners, and late-night celebrations, with plenty more to come as the week unfolds.

For guests heading toward the Boom Boom Room for Bulgari's New York Fashion Week party, a surprise detour awaited them: the night actually began up on the High Line.
There, Bulgari ambassadors Anne Hathaway and Lisa glimmered in jewels as a small crowd gathered for the unveiling of Bulgari's "AuruBoros." Curator Beatrice Galilee took to the mic to give some context for the installation, which was created by Berlin-based artistic duo Plastique Fantastique (Marco Canevacci and Yena Young).

The most notable change in Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) massive, roughly $360 billion stock portfolio this year has been the conglomerate's large increase in Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)(NASDAQ: GOOG).
While Berkshire initiated the position last year under Warren Buffett's leadership, the company has significantly increased its stake in Alphabet under new CEO Greg Abel. Between the end of 2025 and the end of the second quarter of this year, the value of Berkshire's Alphabet position soared from about $5.6 billion to nearly $37.8 billion, making Alphabet one of Berkshire's largest positions.

Perhaps even more interesting is that as Berkshire was buying, Alphabet's returns have declined. Will Alphabet break Warren Buffett's cardinal rule of investing?
In a surprising interview with CNBC in July, the 96-year-old Buffett, who remains executive chairman of Berkshire, revealed he had initiated the Alphabet position last year, meaning he and Abel likely decided together to significantly increase Berkshire's stake.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway just made it clear that its interest in The New York Times isn't a one-time move.
After tripling its position in the first quarter of 2026, Berkshire (BRK.B) added even more New York Times (NYT) stock in the second quarter, growing its share count by more than 3.5%, according to Berkshire Hathaway investment holdings data.
It is a notable vote of confidence in legacy media from the most closely watched investor on Wall Street, especially as the news industry faces real headwinds from big tech platforms and AI search tools.
According to the latest 13F filing data, Berkshire held 15.7 million shares of New York Times stock as of June 29, 2026, worth about $1.1 billion.
That is up 553,465 shares from the prior quarter, a 3.65% increase, and the position now equals 9.78% of the New York Times Company's outstanding shares.

Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) has long been one of the most closely watched consumer stocks. Coca-Cola's flagship beverage anchors the stock, and its success is arguably the biggest factor in supporting the 64 consecutive years of dividend increases.
Moreover, under Warren Buffett's leadership at the time, Berkshire Hathaway has owned the stock for decades, holding 9.3% of Coca-Cola's outstanding shares.

Nonetheless, investors should think twice about paying $88 per share for it. For one, that takes its P/E ratio to 27, well above archrival PepsiCo at an 18 earnings multiple.
Additionally, PepsiCo's dividend yields almost 4.2%, well above the near 2.4% cash return investors now earn from Coca-Cola. Still, both stocks retain Dividend King status by virtue of more than half a century of annual payout hikes. Also, Coca-Cola investors should also not ignore the dividend, as it is typically the primary source of returns.

Winnie the Pooh probably isn't the investment guru that first comes to mind when you think about Wall Street. And yet he has offered some pretty sage investing advice: "Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something." The history of investing over the past 50 years very clearly shows that this fictional, honey-loving bear could be on to something. Here's why.
Turning to a real person, iconic investor Warren Buffett, the former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB), has said that "Investing is not a game where the guy with the 160 IQ beats the guy with the 130 IQ. Once you have ordinary intelligence, what you need is the temperament to control the urges that get other people into trouble in investing."
Continue »
The issue of temperament is where Buffett and Pooh intersect. That's because the S&P 500 index's (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) history shows that Wall Street switches between bull and bear markets in a zigzag fashion, while generally moving higher over time. The chart below shows that simply buying and holding the S&P 500 index would have yielded a positive long-term outcome if you had the temperament to do nothing while it gyrated in the short term.
In fact, Warren Buffett has actually suggested that most investors would be better off just buying the S&P 500 index and... doing nothing. That's not entirely true; Buffett would likely recommend continuing to regularly buy an S&P 500 index ETF, such as SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: SPY) or Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO), regardless of market conditions.

Warren Buffett, the former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB), is one of the world's most famous investors. In fact, his long-term success as an investor earned him the nickname the Oracle of Omaha. So investors should pay attention when he issues a warning about elevated risk, as he recently did by suggesting there's a gambling mentality on Wall Street today. However, Wall Street's long-term history still has an important story to tell, too.
Buffett lamented that "we've never had people in a more gambling mood than now," in an interview with Fortune. He even invoked the notion of religious fervor, opining that Wall Street is like a church with a casino attached. That is a very negative view of the market environment, but it isn't unrealistic.

After rushing headlong into cryptocurrencies, droves of people have now taken up prediction markets. Cryptocurrencies have no intrinsic value and are worth only what their owners are willing to pay. And prediction markets, by definition, have binary outcomes based on time-limited events. That predicting the outcome of a sports event (effectively gambling) can now take place at the same broker a person uses to buy stock in a company should be pretty shocking. And yet it is the norm today for many discount brokers.
However, even if you are as worried as Buffett, that doesn't mean you should dump your long-term investment approach. As the chart above highlights, the market has recovered after every bear market in history. In fact, the S&P 500 index (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) has gone on to achieve new highs after every single downturn in history so far. It is highly likely that this trend will continue, even if investment risk is high today.

Berkshire Hathaway CEO Greg Abel told CNBC in an interview Wednesday that Alphabet's strength in AI was a "fundamental" reason behind the decision to invest in the tech giant.
Legendary investor Warren Buffett, who stepped down from his role as Berkshire's CEO at the end of last year, initiated the investment.
Google's position as a "significant player" in AI was a "fundamental" reason behind Berkshire Hathaway's decision to invest in the tech giant, according to CEO Greg Abel.
"We knew it was going to have a significant impact on America and businesses" by watching how the spread of AI is influencing Berkshire's subsidiaries, the CEO said in a televised interview with CNBC Wednesday.
The conglomerate's stake in Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL, GOOG), which was initiated by legendary investor Warren Buffett, is the third-largest holding in Berkshire's (BRK.A, BRK.B) portfolio. Berkshire first revealed its stake last November, when Buffett was in his final months as CEO. Abel took over the role at the start of the year.

Anne Hathaway became the target of MAGA's anger on Tuesday after an anti-abortion website dredged up her old comments on reproductive rights.
Hathaway, in a 2022 appearance on "The View" after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, underscored the importance of a young woman's "reproductive destiny" before remarking on her "own personal experience with abortion."
Buzz: Anne Hathaway Reveals She And Husband Adam Shulman Are Expecting Baby No. 3
"I don't think we talk about this enough; abortion can be another word for mercy," said Hathaway, who, days after SCOTUS' decision, used the anniversary of "The Devil Wears Prada" to point out that the film's young female characters built their lives and careers in a country that honored their reproductive rights.
She later continued, "We know that no two pregnancies are alike and it follows that no two lives are alike, that follows that no two conceptions are alike. So how can we have a law — how can we have a point of view on this that says we must treat everything the same?"

My eleven-year-old is still trying to learn the Dougie. Over a decade since it entered the cultural bloodstream, and it is still moving through generations like a living thing. I grew up on the Running Man, the Kid-n-Play kick step, the Wop. These were not just moves. They were rituals, practiced on living-room floors, performed at local parties. And yet, in most cases, I had no idea who originated them. I knew the artists who introduced them to the zeitgeist. Still, the actual creators, the people whose bodies birthed the movement, had essentially vanished from the record. That gap, between cultural impact and cultural credit, is precisely what Connor Lim is trying to close. So, we brought him onto the latest episode of the FROM THE CULTURE podcast to better understand how.
Lim is the co-founder and CEO of the International Dance League, the world's first global professional dance league. Six city-based teams, a regular season, a championship, and, as of this past summer, a global media rights deal with ESPN. IDL grew out of STEEZY, an online dance education platform he built after a childhood in Queens, completely consumed by the craft. For most people, dance is considered an art form, but Lim sees it as that and much more: a sport. Consider the battle traditions of breaking, krumping, and voguing, and Lim's perspective no longer feels like much of a stretch. In fact, breakdancing made its Olympic debut at the Paris 2024 Games as an official event, a testament to dance's competitive nature. It's this thesis that fuels Lim's ambition for the IDL to make dance as big of a sport as basketball, football, or baseball. However, unlike athletes, dancers have never sat inside a structure that captures the value they generate.

This is a double-edged sword because, even as an art, dance misses out on this value capture. Music has royalties, touring, and publishing rights. These are all mechanisms by which value accrues back to the creator, so an ecosystem forms, and the people who make it are remembered and rewarded. Dance, for all its cultural reach and resonance, has no such machinery. So, knowing the originator served no structural purpose, and the credit simply evaporated. Lim put it plainly: people act as they are incentivized to act, so he's built the IDL on a system of incentives.
The late Charlie Munger, longtime vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, famously stated, "Show me the incentive, and I will show you the outcome," emphasizing that an organization's operational reality and culture are direct reflections of its underlying incentive system. Having participated in the culture IDL is trying to prop up, Lim understands this fund

KKR has made its largest exit from its Strategic Holdings portfolio, representing a significant step towards the firm's ambition of creating a "mini Berkshire Hathaway."
The New York alternatives manager has agreed to sell USI Insurance Services, one of the largest insurance brokerage and consulting firms in the US, to Aon for around $17 billion, the firm announced on Monday.
KKR acquired the Valhalla, New York-based business in 2017 for $4.3 billion. It invested more money in 2020, 2023 and 2025, growing the company through over 90 strategic acquisitions. The exit from Aon represents a 6x return on KKR's original equity and a 3.4x return when accounting for those additional investments.
KKR co-CEO Joseph Bae drew the comparison between Strategic Holdings, which comprises stakes in 18 companies, and Warren Buffett's famous holding company in 2025, at the Bloomberg Invest conference in New York.

Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) bought back $4.5 billion in stock in the second quarter, its first major buyback activity since early 2024. While other companies buy back billions of dollars in stock, Berkshire's buyback program is a unique one.
Specifically, Berkshire buys back stock only when its leaders believe it trades at a considerable discount to intrinsic value. This lets investors use Berkshire's buyback as a signal that the stock might be cheap.
Continue »
Of course, there's more to the story. For one thing, Berkshire started the second quarter with a record high $397.4 billion in cash and Treasuries, and new CEO Abel has been eager to find ways to put it to work.
Also, the second quarter's buyback could be an especially strong signal that Abel believes the stock is cheap right now. Not only is $4.5 billion the most Berkshire Hathaway has spent on buybacks in a single quarter since 2021, but Berkshire's buybacks in recent years have generally occurred while Berkshire was a net seller of stocks.

Red carpet glamour may look effortless, but behind every polished celebrity appearance is usually a team of professionals working together. Stylists, makeup artists and hairstylists help stars prepare for major events, making sure every detail feels right before the cameras start flashing. For many celebrities, getting ready is less about following a strict formula and more about trusting experienced people who understand their personal style. The process can feel like playing dress up, with different outfits, beauty looks and accessories tested until everything comes together.
Celebrities often describe the experience as highly collaborative. Stylists may bring several clothing options, but the final choice still depends on what makes the person wearing it feel comfortable and confident. Stars can suggest changes, remove details or add something that better reflects their personality. Even when the glam team does most of the technical work, personal input remains important. The strongest red carpet looks are often the ones that feel natural to the person wearing them rather than simply following whatever happens to be fashionable at the moment.
Preparation can also begin long before the makeup brushes and clothing racks arrive. Eating well, drinking enough water and taking care of the skin can help create a better starting point for the beauty team. Just as important is working with familiar professionals who understand a celebrity's face, preferences and comfort level. That trust can make the hours before an event feel less stressful, especially when the same makeup artist or hairstylist has developed a recognizable approach over years of working together.
Makeup artist Gucci Westman is one example of how personal that relationship can become. Her work has been described as gentle and artistic, almost like painting a face rather than simply applying cosmetics. For a celebrity, having someone who knows exactly how to create a familiar look can provide confidence before stepping into an environment filled with cameras and attention. The same principle applies to fashion styling, where understanding the person matters just as much as understanding clothes.
Stylist Erin Walsh, known for working with stars including Anne Hathaway and Selena Gomez, describes red carpet dressing as a collaboration. Trends can provide inspiration and help fashion continue evolving, but they should not completely control the final look. Instead, pieces of current trends can be adapted to suit an individual's personality, comfort and appearance. That may be the real secret behind memorable red carpet style. The best looks are not created by one person alone, but through teamwork, trust and a shared understanding of what makes someone feel their best.

Investors are getting nervous, and it's easy to see why.
A number of bear market indicators are flashing red right now. According to the Buffett Indicator, named for legendary investor Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway, the market is historically overvalued.
Continue »
Meanwhile, the American ******* ociation of Individual Investors reports that 44.4% of individual investors are expecting a bear market in the next six months, far more than the 32.9% predicting a bull market. That's a 4.5 percentage point jump in the bear-predicting cohort in the past week alone.
But even if a bear market arrives tomorrow -- and, remember, there's no way to know exactly when a bear market's coming -- history has some good news for investors.

Sometimes the most memorable part of an outfit is hidden underneath. Designers have increasingly used contrasting linings to introduce unexpected flashes of color, transforming capes, coats, gowns and dramatic trains whenever they move. From Cate Blanchett to Anne Hathaway, several stars have demonstrated how a carefully chosen interior shade can turn an elegant red carpet look into something far more surprising.
Cate Blanchett delivered a memorable example at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival premiere of The Apprentice. Her custom Haider Ackermann for Jean Paul Gaultier strapless creation appeared predominantly black from the front, but revealed contrasting shades from other angles. A blush pink back and emerald green lining emerged as Blanchett lifted the train, giving the sophisticated design an unexpected injection of color.
Brie Larson used the same idea for superhero glamour at the London premiere of Captain Marvel. Her vivid blue Valentino gown featured an off the shoulder neckline, sculpted bodice and flowing cape. Hidden inside that cape was a shimmering gold lining, creating a dramatic metallic flash whenever the fabric moved. Nicole Kidman took a bolder approach at the New York premiere of Expats, where her sleek black Versace gown revealed a vivid lime green interior through its dramatic thigh high slit.
Helen Mirren offered a softer interpretation at the 2024 Golden Globes. Wearing Dolce & Gabbana, she paired an elegant lavender gown with a matching coat featuring voluminous sleeves. The coat's pink interior became visible as it opened, introducing another pastel shade while maintaining the sophistication of the overall look. Instead of competing with the lavender exterior, the contrasting lining gave the ensemble additional depth.
Anne Hathaway also embraced the technique with a playful maternity look at the Los Angeles premiere of The Last Thing He Wanted. Her custom Prabal Gurung ensemble centered on a blue satin high low top with a striking red interior. Paired with relaxed jeans and pointed red shoes, the contrasting colors framed her silhouette while bringing an unconventional energy to maternity dressing.

Since succeeding Warren Buffett as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB) last January, Greg Abel has made some major changes to Berkshire's stock portfolio. In the two quarters since taking the helm of the Oracle of Omaha's holding company, Abel has both increased stock holdings and jettisoned many positions, including a few held for many decades.
However, Abel hasn't materially decreased Berkshire's positions in Apple, American Express, Alphabet, Bank of America, and Coca-Cola. During Q2 2026, Berkshire trimmed its BofA stake by 5.9%, while increasing its Alphabet position by 45.2%.

These five blue chip stocks now account for around 60% of its investments in U.S.-listed equities. Yet while this indeed represents high concentration, is that in itself a major risk? Not necessarily.
It's unfair to call Berkshire Hathaway's stock portfolio concentrated under Greg Abel's watch. After all, it was Warren Buffett's penchant for long-term, high-conviction investments that led to such high concentration in the first place.

When I think of Dame Julie Andrews, fitness isn't the first thing that comes to mind.
Soaring through the sky attached to a brolly, skipping through the Alps singing, or more recently, narrating the scandals of the ton are all things I ******* ociate with the veteran actress.
But it turns out, we can learn a lot about exercise and longevity from the thespian, who turns 91 in October.
Julie Andrews has been doing the same workout for her whole life (@ Penske Media via Getty Images)
While Dame Julie recently disappointed fans when she revealed she won't be starring alongside Anne Hathaway in the reprise of The Princess Diaries, sharing she feels she is "past all that now,", she is far from taking it easy in later life, sharing two years ago that she has worked out first thing in the morning for her whole life.

Former Warren Buffett watchers are now following CEO Greg Abel's moves as he leads Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) into a new era. So far, the playbook hasn't changed too much, although Abel is definitely making his own stamp on the company.
Buffett himself initiated the holding company's relatively new position in Google parent company Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL), and he attributed the recent aggressive confidence in that position, indicated by a large addition of the stock in the second quarter, to his own influence.

Beyond expanding its stake through public shares, it also bought $10 billion worth of the stock in a private placement. Let's look more closely at this recent purchase.
Buffett was notable for his lack of interest in technology stocks when he was CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. He avoided stocks like Amazon and Alphabet for years, telling investors that he stayed away from categories that he didn't really understand.

Tokio Marine had reportedly been weighing several options including Australia's Insurance Australia Group (IAG) and Suncorp, alongside Canada's Intact Financial Corporation.
Suncorp and IAG are valued at approximately $14bn (A$19.55bn) and $13bn, respectively, whilst Intact carries a market value of around $34bn (C$47.08bn).

Buffett's $37 billion Alphabet (GOOG) stake validates our BUY rating and $437 price target, implying 28% upside with 90% confidence.
Alphabet (GOOG) trades at a P/E of 17, which is well below Microsoft (MSFT) at 27 and Meta (META) at 20, while growing revenue at a comparable rate.
Act now: the ***** yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Google didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
Berkshire Hathaway's roughly $37 billion stake in Alphabet, disclosed as a 48 million share position, has recalibrated how investors view the search giant. Warren Buffett rarely chases mega-cap tech, so his conviction here forces a fresh look at whether Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) still offers meaningful upside from $344.59.
Our 24/7 Wall St. price target for Alphabet is $437.39 over the next 12 months, implying 27.99% upside. We rate GOOG a buy with high (90%) confidence.

In the second quarter, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) was a net buyer of stocks for the first time in several years. Although the large investment in Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL) received the most headlines, there were several other investments Berkshire made that shared a common theme: housing.
To be clear, Berkshire Hathaway CEO Greg Abel hasn't specifically said that he's anticipating a housing recovery. But all the signs point to Berkshire betting big that the near-stagnant housing market in the United States will turn around.
