Jerry Jones is confident that Tony Romo won't be defined by his recent arrest.
The longtime Dallas Cowboys quarterback was arrested in Wisconsin on July 23 on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence (OWI), according to police records obtained by USA TODAY Sports. He "performed poorly on SFSTs (standard field sobriety tests)," resulting in him being taken into custody.
Jones was asked about Romo during a recent interview with KDFW Fox 4, when the Cowboys' owner said he has "been talking to" Romo in the aftermath of his arrest, and spoke glowingly about his former quarterback's character and talent.
"I love him," Jones said of Romo. "I love what he's about. I love his character. I love his love of sport. And he's a very, very unique talent. And the real question is – and I don't even have to ask what the answer is: Do you think Tony Romo knows how to get up when he gets knocked down? He had a life of that. And absolutely, that's one of his greatest attributes, is that he can handle adversity.
"And so this is something that he will work through. He is a unique talent. ... So, obviously, I'm a big fan of his, big fan of his family, and let me tell you right now, he's as real as he sounds. He feels every down time, he feels every up time."

In the latest Bitcoin news, Gelephu Mindfulness City, Bhutan's southern special administrative region, has named Toronto-based 3iQ Corp. as the first institutional manager for a portion of its Bitcoin treasury, formalizing what had been a state-level BTC accumulation strategy into an active, named-mandate arrangement.
The announcement, dated July 30, 2026, marks the first concrete step toward deployment since Bhutan announced in December 2025 that up to 10,000 Bitcoin from its national holdings would be allocated to support GMC's long-term development.
The mandate grants 3iQ discretionary management over a defined portion of GMC's Bitcoin reserves, though the press release does not disclose the specific amount of BTC, the custody arrangement, permitted strategies, or the fee structure.
That opacity is notable for a sovereign-linked reserve mandate; operational details that traders would typically expect to accompany an institutional announcement of this scale remain absent.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — CBS NFL ****** yst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle when he was stopped by police last week and later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.
According to one of three citations released by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the "open bottle of an alcoholic beverage" was discovered in the passenger's side of Romo's black Jeep during an inventory before it was towed.
Another citation said police stopped Romo on Interstate 43 on July 23 after he was seen passing cars in a gore area, which separates interstate traffic from cars entering from an on-ramp. Police said Romo questioned what a gore area was during the stop.
Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, booked and released. Court records show Romo was later cited for refusing "to take test for intoxication after arrest." He has a court appearance scheduled for Sept. 21.
According to body camera footage released earlier this week, Romo told deputies he had been coming from a golf course and was on his way "to visit grandma and grandpa" when he was stopped.

WNBA star Brittney Griner has filed for divorce from her wife, Cherelle Griner, ending eight years of marriage, in Fulton County, Georgia, on Thursday, July 30. The two were married in 2018 but had been living separately since July 24, as per court documents obtained by People. The Connecticut Sun center was already out of the playing lineup due to her left knee injury.
Griner met her 33-year-old partner during her college days at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. They also share a two-year-old son, named Bash. The player is seeking joint custody for their son.
Griner was embroiled in controversy when she was detained in Russia in February 2022, after she was found in possession of vape cartridges with cannabis oil.
Griner's wife, who is an attorney, was her advocate in that case. The player was released on December 8 of the same year in a prison exchange for Viktor Bout.
Cherelle Griner and her WNBA partner were together during the most difficult period of their lives in 2022. After the Russian authorities detained her, she was sentenced to nine years in prison. When she returned home to her then-wife, Griner had a long recovery process, and Cherelle was there for her.

Paul Pierce is no longer disputing that he is the father of infant son King Rafael.
The legal fight now centers on how much monthly support he should pay and how custody should be divided.
In newly reported court documents, the retired NBA star opposes Princess Santiago's request for $29,811 per month in child support and $100,000 toward her legal expenses.
Pierce proposes paying approximately $4,145 monthly. He argues that his current finances bear little resemblance to the earnings he received during his 19-season basketball career and says another source of income will end in September.
Pierce earned more than $200 million during his NBA career, which ended with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017. His filing argues that those career earnings should not be treated as evidence of what he can currently afford. Pierce reported approximately $1.5 million in income for 2025 and said his earnings have steadily declined since leaving professional basketball.

Tony Romo, the former NFL quarterback and top CBS television ******* yst, has reportedly been placed "on leave" by CBS following his OWI arrest after a golf tournament in Milwaukee.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the news July 31, eight days after Romo was pulled over and taken into custody by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office on suspicion of operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Full videos of the arrest and subsequent field-sobriety tests have been released.
Schefter also wrote that, for now, another Wisconsin high school alumnus will take Romo's place in the lead booth – Pewaukee High School and University of Wisconsin legend J.J. Watt.
Romo received a citation for refusal to take a test for intoxication and failing the field sobriety test. In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is a traffic violation and typically carries a fine.
Romo was pulled over on Interstate 43 just south of the Marquette Interchange after participating in the Wisconsin Amateur golf tournament in West Bend during the weekend.

CBS Sports placed Tony Romo on leave Friday morning, "until further notice," in its first public statement since his OWI arrest in Milwaukee last week
"Tony Romo is on leave from his role at CBS Sports until further notice," the network said in a statement.
Awful Announcing has learned that JJ Watt will join Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson as the network's lead NFL broadcast team during Romo's absence, with CBS set to release the rest of its NFL on CBS roster at a later date.
Boomer Esiason told his radio audience barely a day earlier that he didn't expect CBS to comment on the situation at all, a read that lined up with how the network had handled things all week. The Daily Mail had reported days earlier that CBS executives had already closed ranks around Romo, with one source telling the outlet, "I don't want to act like it's not a big deal, because it is. But it's not going to get him fired." A second characterized the arrest as a "lapse in judgment" rather than anything approaching a fireable offense, noting Romo had reached out to his bosses almost the moment it happened.
Romo was pulled over on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee County on the night of July 23, hours after competing in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship, and taken into custody after performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests. Body camera footage of the stop later surfaced on TMZ, including Romo's own reaction to the test results.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office has released a series of videos of NFL broadcaster and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's arrest in Milwaukee last week.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel filed a public records request for the footage shortly after he was taken into custody on July 23.
In the videos, captured on body cameras, the Burlington-reared Romo, 46, appears compliant, though at points seemed confused or unable to hear instructions deputies gave him during their OWI investigation.
A sheriff's office arrest report says Romo was pulled over driving southbound on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee shortly after 6 p.m. because of a bad lane change.
The deputy approached the driver's side of the black Jeep. Romo, who was alone in the vehicle, told the deputy he was coming from a golf tournament, the Wisconsin Amateur Championship golf event in West Bend, and heading to his grandparents' home.

Suri Cruise, the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has legally dropped her father's last name and chosen a surname that honors her mother instead, according to a Page Six report.
Rather than adopting Holmes as her last name, Suri opted for Noelle, her mother's middle name. While it's unclear when she officially changed her last name, Page Six reported that she registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pa., under the name Suri Noelle during her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University in October 2024. She first made headlines in June 2024, when she graduated from New York City's LaGuardia High School and was listed as Suri Noelle in the ceremony pamphlet.
The reported name change comes after years of estrangement from Cruise. Following her parents' divorce in 2012, Suri moved from Los Angeles to New York City with Holmes, who was granted full custody, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The Mission: Impossible star was ordered to pay $400,000 annually in child support, plus medical, dental, education and insurance expenses, until Suri turned 18, the outlet reported.
Before moving to Pittsburgh, Pa., Suri, who has often been described as the spitting image of her mother, was frequently spotted out and about in New York City.
"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests," read a joint statement from Holmes and Cruise following their divorce in 2012. "We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

Ripple has launched Ripple Mint, a platform that lets institutions mint, redeem, and manage Ripple USD (RLUSD) through one console.
The company also invested in Notabene, a compliance firm, to add identity checks and transaction authorization to its stablecoin network. Standard Custody & Trust Company, a New York-chartered trust firm, issues RLUSD under state financial regulation. Jack McDonald, an executive at the company, called the Notabene deal a step toward globally compliant stablecoin transfers.
"Bringing together $RLUSD, Ripple Payments & Notabene's trusted institutional network to help scale compliant stablecoin payments," McDonald said.
Ripple Mint replaces the platform-only setup institutions previously used for RLUSD operations. Users can choose a web console for manual oversight, or new application programming interfaces (APIs) for automated workflows.
The system tracks transactions in real time and sends webhook alerts for fiat receipt, minting, and onchain settlement. Consistent reference IDs tie every stage together, which simplifies reconciliation for exchanges and market makers.

McALLEN, Texas (AP) — A nun who was taken into immigration custody last month in Texas said Thursday that she went into a cold sweat as two armed men approached her while she walked to Sunday Mass in her habit, thinking about the day's Bible readings and carrying little more than her rosary and cellphone.
"At that moment, I did not understand what was going on, what was happening to me," Sister Leticia Ugboaja said at a news conference at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in McAllen, where she spoke out for the first time since U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested her on June 28.
Ugboaja's attorney says she has for years been granted protection from removal to her native Nigeria because she was likely to face torture there.
Ugboaja, 56, was released several hours after being detained while on her way to church near the U.S.-Mexico border. Parish officials' posting about her on social media brought attention to her case, and Congress members ultimately intervened on her behalf. President Donald Trump made mass deportations a central promise of his second administration, with his immigration crackdown leading to unusually aggressive tactics that have faced scrutiny.
Ugboaja, who has a check-in appointment with ICE on Tuesday, said she wanted to speak out to help others, and pleaded for people to have the chance to be heard before being taken into custody.

Actress Angelina Jolie's lingering ties to ex-husband Brad Pitt have officially been severed after their youngest children, twins Vivienne and Knox, turned 18—bringing the former couple's custody agreement to an end.
It marks a significant milestone not just for the teenagers, but for their mother, too. Jolie has made no secret of her desire to leave the U.S., something that she said she was unable to do while she was still bound by the custody conditions set in place in the wake of her divorce from Pitt.
"I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as [the twins] are 18, I'll be able to leave," she told The Hollywood Reporter about her reasons for remaining in Los Angeles.
Jolie, 51, went on to reveal her desire to spend more time abroad, particularly in Cambodia, where her eldest son, Maddox, is from, and where she has owned a home for years.
"When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be ... that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here. [After Los Angeles] I'll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I'll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world."
