Frasers Group has acquired department store chain Harvey Nichols from FTI Consulting, the business consulting company that had been appointed administrator to oversee its sale.
Owned by billionaire Mike Ashley, the UK retail conglomerate has not confirmed the value of the transaction, though several media outlets have reported it to be £40m ($53.9m).
Harvey Nichols had been struggling with trading and operational pressures for some time before the sale.
Harvey Nichols CEO Julia Goddard said: "Today marks an important milestone for Harvey Nichols and provides a strong platform for the next phase of the business's evolution under the ownership of Frasers Group."
The acquisition brings six UK stores into Frasers' portfolio: the Knightsbridge flagship in London, which recently underwent refurbishment, together with outlets in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester.

Who bought the Lakers? Meet Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, the billionaires behind the record-setting deal originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
One year after getting a new owner, the Lakers now have two more.
Los Angeles' signature basketball franchise was sold to business tycoons Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for an eye-watering $12.5 billion fee, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne — the largest price ever shelled out for a sporting franchise.
Kushner and Iger take over for Mark Walter, who bought the franchise for a pretty penny in 2025. Walter and diversified holding company TWG Global retain ownership of a wide array of sporting franchises following Wednesday's transaction, including the Dodgers and Chelsea.
Here's what you need to know about Kushner and Iger, the latest set of tycoons set to take charge of the Lakers.

Billionaire Mark Walter is reportedly selling the Los Angeles Lakers to former Disney CEO Bob Iger and venture capitalist Josh Kushner for a record-breaking $12.5 billion.
"As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. We have immense respect for the leadership and vision of Jerry and Jeanie Buss," Kushner and Iger told ESPN in a statement Wednesday. "Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles."
The pair had been involved in the NBA's expansion process in Las Vegas before unexpectedly shifting their focus to the Lakers and making an aggressive offer to buy the team, sources told ESPN. The shocking sale comes just one year after Walter, the CEO and chairman of diversified holding company TWG Global, acquired a controlling stake in the Lakers from the Buss family for an estimated $10 billion valuation, setting a record at the time.
"Owning the Los Angeles Lakers has been one of the great honors of my life – an extraordinary investment, but what I will carry with me is the community, the fans, and a city that treats this team as family," Walter, who purchased the franchise just last year, said in a statement to ESPN. "I am grateful to Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff for welcoming me into this chapter. The Lakers belong to Los Angeles, and I have every confidence the best is still ahead."
Walter, 66, has investments across several professional sports teams. Through TWG Global, he has interests in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Sparks, Premier League soccer club Chelsea and the Professional Women's Hockey League. He also owns several auto racing teams through TWG Motorsports, including Cadillac's Formula 1 team.

In a stunning turn of events, billionaire Mark Walter is selling the Lakers to former Disney CEO Bob Iger and venture capital executive Josh Kushner in a deal reportedly worth $12.5 billion, less than 14 months after Walter reached an agreement to acquire the iconic NBA franchise.
The latest sale adds about $2.5 billion to the Lakers' valuation since Walter and his partners acquired them from the Buss family and sets a valuation record for a control sale of a U.S. pro sports franchise, topping Walter's own mark from last year.
Walter, however, has since come under federal investigation for alleged tax fraud involving insurance companies he controls. There are separate probes underway by U.S. prosecutors and the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.
It is unclear to what degree that situation is connected to the Lakers sale, if at all, but the reselling of the franchise still represents one of the most surprising events in recent sports history.
"As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world," Iger and Kushner said in a joint statement. "We have immense respect for the leadership and vision of Jerry and Jeanie Buss. Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles."

Josh Kushner and Bob Iger are set to become the new owners of the Los Angeles Lakers.
In a surprise turn of events, less than a year after Dodgers kingpin Mark Walter took the keys from the Buss family, he's flipping the franchise for a jaw-dropping $12 billion-plus.
The buyers? Venture capitalist Josh Kushner and former Disney man Bob Iger. The duo originally had their eyes on a Las Vegas expansion team, but when the chance to own purple-and-gold royalty popped up, they pivoted fast and a deal is set to be completed.
If approved by the league, this record-shattering Lakers takeover officially ushers Hollywood's favorite basketball team into a whole new era.
Kushner, a billionaire investor, is the founder of Thrive Capital, a venture capital firm with early stakes in tech giants like Instagram, Spotify, and OpenAI. He is also the co-founder of Oscar Health.

The Los Angeles Lakers could soon change hands again in a deal that underscores the soaring value of California's most iconic sports brands.
A group led by businessman Joshua Kushner and former Disney CEO Robert Iger has agreed to purchase the Lakers from owner Mark Walter in a transaction valued at $12 billion, according to statements released by the parties involved. If approved, the sale would set a new record for a North American sports franchise, eclipsing the $10 billion valuation attached to Walter's purchase of the team last year.
"As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world," Kushner and Iger said in a joint statement.
The buyers behind the record-setting Lakers deal come from two very different corners of the business world.
Joshua Kushner is a billionaire entrepreneur and venture capitalist best known as the founder of Thrive Capital, a New York-based investment firm that has backed some of the technology industry's biggest companies. Through Thrive and other investments, Kushner has built a reputation as one of the nation's most influential tech investors. He is also part of the Kushner family, a prominent name in real estate and business. Kushner is also the brother of Jared Kushner, who served as a senior adviser in President Donald Trump's first administration and is married to Trump's daughter. His father, real estate developer Charles Kushner, has served as U.S. ambassador to France since 2025.

UK-listed Frasers Group has emerged as the leading contender to acquire department store chain Harvey Nichols, Sky News reported.
The takeover is expected to involve Harvey Nichols briefly entering administration, with FTI Consulting lined up to act as insolvency practitioner under a pre-pack administration arrangement.

If the acquisition proceeds, it would end 35 years of ownership under Hong Kong billionaire ***** son Poon, who bought the retailer in 1991.
Harvey Nichols dates back to 1831, was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1996, and subsequently returned to private ownership.

Wall Street has developed an expensive habit when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI) stocks. Every quarter has to be bigger than the previous one. Simply beating expectations no longer earns applause. Investors now want results that shatter forecasts, raise long-term expectations, and justify sky-high valuations. Anything less can send shares lower.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) learned that lesson the hard way after reporting its second-quarter results for fiscal 2026 on Aug. 4 after the market closed. The chipmaker edged past ***** ysts' expectations on both top and bottom lines and even lifted its long-term outlook, reinforcing confidence in the company's AI-driven expansion. Yet instead of celebrating, investors headed for the exits, sending AMD stock down 7% on Wednesday. The reaction underscored a new reality on Wall Street that a solid "beat-and-raise" quarter no longer guarantees a positive market response when expectations are already sky-high.

On August 5, SanDisk (SNDK) posted the best quarter in its history. Revenue skyrocketed 372% from a year ago to $8.97 billion, gross margin hit a record 84.6%, and both revenue and earnings beat the Wall Street consensus. The company even added $14 billion to its buyback program. The performance looked extraordinary by almost every measure. Yet the stock, already well off its highs and volatile for weeks, fell 5.4% further after the release.
What spooked investors was not the quarter, but the outlook. SanDisk guided next quarter's revenue to a midpoint of $10.55 billion, which reflects huge growth. But it still ended up being less than Wall Street's estimates of around $10.8 billion. The stock has swung hard in the past year. From roughly $40 to its 52-week high of $2,354, then cut well over half before a slight recovery again in the past week. The expectations were still very high, and a lot of investors were ready to sell on any bad news. In such a case, missing guidance was enough to send it lower again.
