When you're overmatched as the Carolina Panthers may be on Sunday against the Chicago Bears—sometimes, you have to pick your battles. Bought by the recently reinstalled Alan Brown, Palmer's issues rarely came down to ability. Although fans felt they never got to see the same all action displays he produced at previous club Stoke City they still recognised his versatility and commitment to winning, particularly during one early appearance when against Stoke he took over from the injured Jimmy Montgomery in goal. It was an example of the type of self-sacrifice Brown would usually appreciate and yet the pair were unable to ever strike up a working relationship, a clash of personalities meaning that the notoriously formidable manager and his unconventional recruit often ***** ed heads.
Palmer would invariably take his football seriously but as a character struggled to acquiesce to Brown's rigid structure and expectations. Just weeks after losing her Miss North Carolina USA crown, Brittany Boltinhouse is heading back to the pageant stage.
The 27-year-old dethroned state ******* leholder was announced as Miss Global Honduras 2026 in the pageant's Aug. 31 Instagram post, and now she will represent Honduras at the Miss Global competition in Thailand this October. The announcement marks her first major public step since being stripped of the Miss North Carolina USA ******* le in early August, ending a reign that lasted little more than a month.
"Road to Thailand!" Boltinhouse wrote on Instagram, while unveiling her new sash. She paired the announcement with a Winston Churchill quote echoing "never give in," signaling resilience after weeks of public scrutiny and legal battles.
Her appointment comes as Boltinhouse continues to challenge the public fallout from her removal through a defamation lawsuit, alleging that the Miss USA Organization and A Blaize Productions, which holds the state license for the Miss North Carolina USA pageant, unfairly characterized her after she lost her ******* le.

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State football coach Eric Morris started his press conference Tuesday with a question.
"Excited?" Morris asked.
The obvious reason to be excited is because it's time to talk about a football game. OSU opens its season at 2:45 p.m. Saturday at Tulsa (ESPNU). It's been a long nine months since Morris took over as OSU's 25th head coach. It's been an even longer two years in Stillwater as the Cowboys have a 4-20 record in that span.

Everton have announced the transfer of fullback Nathan Patterson to Torino in Serie A. Though the the transfer fee was not disclosed, it is rumoured to be under £1 million with a hefty 30% sell-on fee attached as well.
The 24-year-old leaves Everton after four and a half seasons, having joined from Glasgow Rangers in January 2022 and ushered the club through a couple of relegation battles.
He only featured in 68 games in his time here, having failed to win David Moyes' trust to become the starter at a position of need for the Blues for close to a decade since the decline of former club captain Seamus Coleman.
Despite featuring in all three group games for Scotland at this summer's World Cup, on his way out of the club Patterson even had to endure the insult of Moyes forgetting his name, calling him 'Craig Patterson' at a recent press conference. He will leave the club on good terms with the fans though.

With the season opener on the horizon, the Hawkeyes gave fans a glimpse of what things will look like on Saturday with the release of their Week 1 depth chart. The first depth chart of the season is always filled with interesting notes and eye-opening decisions. This year's edition is no different.

Here's a look at some takeaways from the Week 1 depth chart.
The biggest thing fans were curious to see was which quarterback was listed as the starter. Kirk Ferentz made it clear that the battle is still ongoing. He listed Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski as the starter with the "OR" tag tying them together. It appears the starting quarterback battle will linger into Week 1, with both guys getting significant reps in the game.

The Oklahoma Sooners released their first official depth chart for the start of the 2026 college football season. The Sooners will open the season Friday at 7 p.m. against the UTEP Miners, and now we can see what the starting lineup will look like.
The Sooners entered training camp with several position battles underway, and some of those will continue into the season. But it looks like the Sooners have figured out arguably the most important one, the offensive line.
Though the projected starter at center, Jake Maikkula, won't be available for the start of the season, it looks like Oklahoma's found their guy, at least for this week. Ryan Fodje, a former four-star and top 10 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class, will get the start against UTEP.
Fodje started six games for the Sooners as a true freshman, helping Oklahoma at both guard and center last season. Coming into training camp, he looked to be Oklahoma's starting right guard, but flipped to left tackle to fill in for Michael Fasusi, who was limited with an injury. While Fodje was at left tackle, true freshman Noah Best stepped in at right guard and received rave reviews.
Best is locked in as an "or" starter with veteran guard Heath Ozaeta. But the rest of the offensive line is set with Fasusi at left tackle, Eddy Pierre-Louis at left guard, Fodje at center, and E'Marion Harris at right tackle. It's a veteran group that will set the tone for the Oklahoma Sooners' offense in 2026.

As BYU wrapped up preseason training camp last Tuesday and turned its attention to its opener against Utah Tech on Saturday, head coach Kalani Sitake said the process of turning his program into a bonafide contender in a power conference is mostly complete.
"The goal (when BYU joined the Big 12 in 2023) was to get to where we are at right now, so we don't have a lot of excuses," Sitake said.
"We have great depth. We have a lot of talent, and we have to do our job as coaches to get it done."
One of those jobs is to identify the very best players on the team and put them on the field in positions where they can succeed, even dominate.
That task starts with putting together a depth chart and settling any position battles — there weren't really that many this month — that were still up in the air.

Tampa Bay must trim its roster to 53 players by Sunday evening, and while many of the decisions will involve players who entered training camp fighting uphill battles, the Buccaneers' improved depth could also lead to a few surprising names being left off the initial roster. Here are three players who could find themselves on the wrong side of the numbers.
Of all the potential cuts, Sean Tucker would probably be the most surprising. Tucker has shown he can produce when given opportunities, and he led Tampa Bay with eight touchdowns last season. He also brings value on special teams and has averaged 5.1 yards per carry over his first three NFL seasons. The issue is Josh Williams's emergence and the $3.5 million price tag Tucker carries. That's quite the price for an RB3, especially with Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell firmly established as Tampa Bay's top two backs. Tucker and Williams are competing for one spot unless the Buccaneers keep four running backs. Todd Bowles admitted Saturday that the competition went "back and forth" throughout the preseason and called it a tough decision. Williams getting offensive snaps ahead of Tucker during the preseason finale was also noteworthy. Tucker's track record makes him difficult to move on from, but roster construction and cost could ultimately work against him.
Payne Durham has been a regular part of Tampa Bay's offense over the past three seasons, but the changing makeup of the tight end room could put him in a more vulnerable position than expected. Cade Otton remains entrenched as the starter, while rookie Bauer Sharp has continued to make a case for a role. Even though he has shown more than his more direct competition, Devin Culp, Ko Kieft being healthy adds another body to the room who contributes on both offense and special teams. Durham's biggest argument is his blocking. At 6'6 and 253 pounds, he has provided the Buccaneers with a physical presence at the position and has experience playing meaningful offensive snaps. But if Tampa Bay believes Sharp can eventually handle some of those responsibilities while offering more upside, Durham could become an unexpected casualty of the numbers game.
Josh Hayes has survived Tampa Bay's final cuts in each of the past three seasons largely because of his special teams ability, but this could finally be the year his roster spot becomes vulnerable. Hayes has been one of Tampa Bay's most consistent special teams contributors and has also provided emergency depth in the secondary. But Tampa Bay has added more young talent to its secondary, creating a situation where the Buccaneers could prioritize upside at cornerback rather than keep a player primarily for his special teams role. Ayden Garnes and "Pepe" Williams have made the most of their opportunities with the starting corners dealing with injuries and have turned conversations of the corner room being a weakness to being one of their strengths.
