Former Tennessee football wide receiver Joshua Palmer made the game-winning play for the Buffalo Bills in their season opener against the Houston Texans on Sept. 13.
Palmer was targeted only twice, but his last target from quarterback Josh Allen resulted in a 34-yard touchdown reception with 1:34 remaining in the fourth quarter that lifted the Bills to a 36-31 win at NRG Stadium in Houston.
It had been 680 days since Palmer last scored an a touchdown in an NFL game.
Palmer played four seasons at UT between 2017-20 and caught 99 passes for 1,514 yards and seven touchdowns. The Los Angles Chargers picked Palmer with the 77th overall pick in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
One game into his sixth season in the NFL, Palmer has now caught 205 passes for 2,624 yards and 11 touchdowns. He enjoyed three productive seasons with the Chargers, but has seen his playing time decrease ever since. In 2025, his first year with the Bills, Palmer played the fewest offensive snaps of his career.

Josh Allen's dramatic winning drive sends strong message to rest of AFC originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Buffalo Bills needed Josh Allen to rescue them one more time. Their franchise quarterback delivered.
Allen directed a 96-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter to lift Buffalo to a 36-31 victory over the Houston Texans. He completed the comeback by finding Joshua Palmer for a 34-yard touchdown with 1:36 remaining.
Houston still had an opportunity to answer, but Greg Rousseau forced a C.J. Stroud fumble near the Buffalo goal line to secure the victory. It was an early-season reminder that defeating the Bills requires more than taking a late lead. Opponents must finish the job without giving Allen another meaningful possession.
Allen completed 20 of 29 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for two scores, accounting for four of Buffalo's touchdowns in the win. His final touchdown throw was made possible by a missed opportunity from the Texans.

Xabi Alonso admitted he would love Chelsea to give him a "boring game" after their defensive woes allowed Hull to escape Stamford Bridge with a 2-2 draw on Saturday.
Alonso's side were cruising after Morgan Rogers drilled home in the seventh minute, but once again they paid the price for some sloppy defending.
Hull's Algerian winger Mohamed Belloumi blasted the equaliser after Chelsea failed to clear a long ball.
And Belloumi put the tireless Tigers in front when his deflected shot flashed in before half-time.
Cole Palmer's incisive run and cut-back in the 66th minute allowed Joao Pedro to bag Chelsea's equaliser.

Chelsea welcome newly promoted Hull City to the Bridge today, though Hull have not been playing like newcomers, earning seven points from their first three games, keeping three clean sheets along the way. Can they resist our free-scoring attack? Let's hope not!
Xabi Alonso has made a couple changes to the usual early mix, with Maxence Lacroix taking a seat on the bench after starting every single game so far and Malo Gusto deployed at nominal left wing-back, at least according to the published lineup.
Here we go!
Chelsea starting lineup (3-4-2-1)
Martínez | Hato, Colwill, Fofana | Gusto, Lavia, James (c), Neto | Rogers, Palmer | João Pedro
Substitutes from: Penders, Acheampong, Lacroix, Chavarría, Barco, Quenda, Gittens, Estêvão, Welbeck

Chelsea return to Stamford Bridge on Saturday looking to respond to last weekend's defeat at ****** nal, but Hull City will offer a very different kind of test.
Xabi Alonso's side have scored eight goals in their opening three Premier League games and followed that with a 6-3 League Cup win over Leeds in midweek. Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and João Pedro have already become the main attacking reference points, while Chelsea have scored inside the opening five minutes in all three of their league matches.
Hull, though, have built their impressive start in almost the opposite way.
Sergej Jakirović's newly-promoted side have taken seven points from games against Manchester United, Coventry and Aston Villa without conceding a goal. They remain the only Premier League team yet to be breached this season.
The clean sheets do not mean Hull have dominated games. They had just 26.5% possession against Villa and have regularly been happy to defend in a compact 5-4-1, give the opposition the ball and wait for opportunities to counter. Goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis has already played more passes into the opposition half than any other Hull player, which says plenty about their willingness to go direct.

I have happy memories of this fixture because one of my three goals for Chelsea came against Hull City in the FA Cup.
Hull haven't conceded yet and they are the team I have been most wrong about so far this season.
With every passing week, they are putting more egg on my face but it can't keep happening, can it?
It probably can, but I am still going for Chelsea to win this. The Tigers have defended brilliantly so far, but they are not going to keep out Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro.
Hull will defend ferociously but, as Chelsea showed in the Carabao Cup against Leeds on Wednesday, they have enough quality to play through teams who sit in; and, if they score first, then Hull will have to open up - that's my theory anyway.

The Fantasy Premier League season is entering week four and plenty of managers will be getting itching fingers, with so many chips at our disposal.
Is it time to play a Free Hit or a Wildcard?
BBC Sport FPL expert Holly Shand looks at some of the biggest dilemmas facing FPL managers heading into gameweek four.
Chelsea striker Joao Pedro (£7.7m) is the most-owned player in the game, in 72.5% of sides. Given that Chelsea have scored eight goals already this season, and face promoted Hull City at home next, it feels like the right time to be moving towards a double up on their ****** ets.
Cole Palmer (£9.6m) and Morgan Rogers (£7.6m) came on as half-time substitutes in the Carabao Cup against Leeds United on Wednesday, with Palmer scoring a double including a penalty, and Rogers chalking up three ****** ists.

It was a welcome sight for the Sutter Union High girls volleyball team when it came into the gym following the long Labor Day weekend.
The Huskies had flip-flopped with Bear River for the top-spot in Sac-Joaquin Section Division V and lead the Bruins by .13 one-hundredths of a ratings point entering Thursday's MaxPreps rankings drop. Computerized rankings help fill out at-large berths and final playoff positioning for all 16-team brackets in October, according to SJS playoff criteria.
No. 1 Sutter entered the week with the first of its two home Golden Empire League matches Tuesday night against El Camino, a rather routine straight-set (25-14, 25-9, 25-14) sweep for Sutter to move to 1-0 in league and 18-5 overall.
Kenzy Shannon led with 10 kills while middle blocker Taylor Palmer produced nine off the hands of senior setter Kalena DeLaCerna, who collected a team-high 17 **** ists.
Sutter ended the week late Wednesday with a home match against league foe Natomas. Results will be published on Friday.

A source claims that Prince William and Kate Middleton are in no rush to react to the Sussexes' return to the UK. According to the insider, the couple is watching the developments from the sidelines and sees no need to communicate anything publicly. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in the UK on August 26 and are currently staying in private accommodation outside London.
A source told PEOPLE that Prince William and Kate Middleton are avoiding any "knee-jerk" reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the UK. "They are watching this ***** e. It's private — they don't feel the need to say anything or demonstrate anything outwardly," they said.
The insider also claimed that the Waleses are in no rush to restore their relationship with the Sussexes. They added that their reconciliation "will be a slow build. There is a deep sense of betrayal."
Earlier, Royal expert Richard Palmer stated that the Waleses may need to coordinate with the Sussexes to avoid any diary clashes. In i-Paper, he explained that though Markle and Harry will continue to be private individuals, they will eventually garner significant media interest. This could also potentially overshadow the working royals.
"While visiting a charity in Los Angeles may go largely unnoticed, there will be far more media attention when they carry out visits in the UK, especially if one of the working Royal Family is doing something similar and possibly trying to communicate a different message, sources said," he explained.

Arsenal needed to come from behind to win a breathless game 2-1 against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium as Kai Havertz scored for the third time in the Premier League against his former club.
Havertz netted midway through the first half to equalise after Morgan Rogers, who the champions missed out on signing during the transfer window, had stunned home fans with a volleyed goal after 77 seconds.
The Germany international was instrumental too in Martin Odegaard's 50th-minute winner, executing a delightful dummy to leave Chelsea's defence flatfooted and create room for the captain to rifle home.

It may still be just the start of the new season, but some clear lineup preferences have already emerged — presumably not just for the WAGNH Community but for Xabi Alonso as well. Namely, we know that our best front-three at the moment are Cole Palmer, João Pedro, and Morgan Rogers. And we know that we have to have Maxence Lacroix alongside Levi Colwill in defense. And we know that we want Reece James on the pitch in some way, shape, or form.
So the major decisions in the lineup choices currently revolve around midfield, wing-backs, and the third defender.
For the latter, the WAGNH Community prefer Josh Acheampong over Wesley Fofana by a 49-39 margin.
For the wing-backs, the voters want Jorrel Hato and Pedro Neto, with Pep Chavarría garnering only 27% and Marco Palestra still out injured. Malo Gusto checks in at 43 per cent, not nearly enough at this position, or midfield.
For the midfield, perhaps most crucially, the vote favors Roméo Lavia alongside James. Moisés Caicedo's unknown injury status is reflected in his measly 24 per cent vote share. Still ahead of Valentín Barco, at just 20.

A versatile and highley rated performer, on paper it seemed to some as if Calvin Palmer's big money move in February 1968 was exactly what Sunderland's struggling squad needed, and yet when he departed two years the later his release felt inevitable – and the man that had brought him was certainly happy to see him go.
Bought by the recently reinstalled Alan Brown, Palmer's issues rarely came down to ability. Although fans felt they never got to see the same all action displays he produced at previous club Stoke City they still recognised his versatility and commitment to winning, particularly during one early appearance when against Stoke he took over from the injured Jimmy Montgomery in goal. It was an example of the type of self-sacrifice Brown would usually appreciate and yet the pair were unable to ever strike up a working relationship, a clash of personalities meaning that the notoriously formidable manager and his unconventional recruit often ***** ed heads.
Palmer would invariably take his football seriously but as a character struggled to acquiesce to Brown's rigid structure and expectations. A squad trip to a cinema the month after signing, during which Palmer decided to leave early, led to Brown disciplining him for a breach of club rules for instance, and once the tone was set a number of other battles followed. By January 1970 Palmer was on the transfer list at his own request, and there was clearly no way back for him.
A court case and subsequent driving ban that month served to emphasise the differences between the player and manager; Palmer had found himself on the wrong side of the law whilst Brown had previously served as a police officer and maintained a strict zero tolerance attitude towards any sort of infringements thereafter. In more modern times it might be sensed that Palmer's nature simply warranted a different approach, but the 'Bomber's' management style never relied on subtlety and in the May he confirmed his decision to cut his losses on the £70,000 fee that had been paid and gave his player a free transfer.
It was presumed that this would be the end of the matter, but Palmer, often accused of being 'outspoken' in those more deferential times, did still intend of having the final word. In August he joined Cape Town City and the following month there was to be a rude awakening for Brown when on this day a national Sunday paper launched a 'warts and all' series detailing from South Africa the views and stories of the now ex Rokerman. Whereas Palmer's seemingly divergent traits would be better understood now it was easy then to tag him as a controversial figure, but even still the new column was quite the exposé, with the account being labelled as an 'explosive' chat with 'football's stormiest rebel'.

Chelsea are approaching the final weeks of the transfer window with an unresolved question at their centre. Enzo Fernandez has been linked with a move to Manchester City throughout August, and the commercial logic of selling is not difficult to construct. What is considerably more difficult is justifying strengthening a direct rival at a moment when that rival's most glaring weakness is precisely the position Fernandez occupies.
Fernandez cost Chelsea €120 million in January 2023. He was bought to be the deep-lying conductor of a new-look midfield – the replacement for Jorginho, the organiser around whom creativity would flow. That vision has never been fully realised at Stamford Bridge, and the reasons why are well-documented.
Every manager Chelsea (7.04) has appointed since his arrival has struggled to make a Fernandez-Caicedo double pivot function out of possession. Fernandez is not physically built to cover large central ***** es. His defensive awareness is sharp enough for international soccer, where Lionel Scaloni's Argentina have found ways to manage around his limitations, but has never been sharp enough at club level to survive without significant structural support.
Enzo Maresca's solution last season was to move Fernandez into the left pocket, push a fullback deeper into the midfield beside Caicedo and slow Chelsea's possession game to keep the team compact. It improved the collective structure and allowed Fernandez to play his best soccer at Chelsea, scoring 15 goals across all competitions. But it came at a notable cost, most visibly, the significant dip in Cole Palmer's form.
Xabi Alonso is not going to replicate that approach. His 3-4-2-1 system places Morgan Rogers and Palmer as dual attacking midfielders behind the striker. That is precisely where Fernandez would be best utilised. But Chelsea paid £117 million for Rogers this transfer window to fill that exact role. The positional arithmetic does not work in Fernandez's favour.

Crocs, Pokemon cards and kendamas never go out of style in Hawaii. And neither does the Warriors' four-wide offense, In video sessions with offensive newcomers, receivers coach Jared Ursua shows old footage of the Warriors' passing game. "We've been doing this since January," Ursua said of clips of former UH QBs Dan Robinson, Nick Rolovich, Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan, Bryant Moniz and Cole McDonald. "We are who we are, we do what we do, and this system has always worked." QB1 Micah Alejado has been starring in recent remakes, deciphering defenses ahead of the snap, releasing passes within 2.2 seconds, and throwing to targeted areas on the receivers' routes. "Micah's a special quarterback," said Chang, the UH head coach who calls the offensive plays. "He understands our offense, and he understands what teams are trying to do against us." Ursua has implored the receivers to read the coverages correctly "so Micah can throw at a high level based on our indicators, which is what the run-and-shoot is based off." Alejado has shown toughness, playing through injuries to his right ankle last season. He did not participate in contact drills ahead of the Hawaii Bowl, during which he completed 69.6% of his throws for 274 yards and three TDs. Last season, the Warriors scored on 46.1% of Alejado's full drives. Most pictured his return to England to come with Liverpool; Chelsea fans already seem grateful he's landed in London. While far from the perfect performance, victory in a five-goal thriller against Fulham brought a lot of encouragement.
A mixture of big spending and summer snubs seems to have forged one of the most dangerous attacking front threes in the league. Morgan Rogers showed signs he was worthy of his £117m price tag. Cole Palmer, with a point to prove after his World Cup omission, suddenly looked like a real problem again after what was, by his standards, a dud of a season. His link-up with Joao Pedro took effect within 31 seconds.

"They are going to be a very important part of the team," recognised Alonso, who now wants the trio's team-mates to reach the level they exhibited on Monday night. "To build [the team] around them, no. To build the team with them. They need to take responsibility, they need to lead the rest, they need to inspire the rest, because if they do great, the other ones will follow.

A royal expert suggests Prince William and Kate Middleton may need to coordinate with Harry and Meghan to avoid public engagement clashes. He claims that the Sussexes' return could draw attention away from the royals. He further adds that there could be more media attention on visits in similar contexts to those of the royals.
Royal expert Richard Palmer said that although the Sussexes will remain private individuals, they could attract significant media attention. This could also potentially take attention away from working royals. He wrote to the i-Paper, "While visiting a charity in Los Angeles may go largely unnoticed, there will be far more media attention when they carry out visits in the UK, especially if one of the working Royal Family is doing something similar and possibly trying to communicate a different message, sources said."
Palmer revealed that sources close to the Waleses claim that they will continue their normal lives and won't be paying much attention to the Sussexes. "But after previous disruptions to their agenda caused by diary clashes with Harry and Meghan, they may need to think again," he elaborated. It's learned that Prince Harry had reached an agreement last July with Buckingham Palace to avoid any potential schedule clashes and ease tension. While there have been some disagreements, it's known that their arrangements have largely worked. They reportedly will "play it by the ear" for now.
Another royal expert, Joe Little, claimed that despite the Sussexes' and Waleses' strained bond, the two couples may be required to work together whenever possible to avoid diary clashes.
Earlier, ******* O!'s royal editor Emily Nash revealed that the Waleses are "not delighted" by the Sussexes' UK return. She added, "It's going to be a very, very difficult hill to climb, having them suddenly back in the UK, popping up, doing things publicly, if that's where they go with this. So much has been said and done that has damaged that relationship, almost beyond repair."

Morgan Rogers has said it is an 'honour' to play alongside close friend Cole Palmer for Chelsea.
Rogers and Palmer lined up together for the first time as Chelsea teammates during the club's 3-2 win at Fulham on Monday night, with both players on the scoresheet as the Xabi Alonso era began with three points.
Rogers joined Chelsea in a £117m club record move from Aston Villa earlier this summer, reuniting with former Manchester City academy teammate Palmer.
The pair came through the ranks in City's youth set-up and have featured together for England at various age groups. However, Rogers said it is 'really nice' to reconnect at club level and is confident the two can have success together at Chelsea.
"It was really nice to play with Cole," he said to Sky Sports.
