There is no timetable or final decision on Tony Romo's fate with CBS Sports, the company's president David Berson told reporters Tuesday afternoon at the annual NFL on CBS media day in New York.
"What I can say is it's an evolving situation, and therefore we're still **** sing," Berson said. "Since it continues to evolve, and we're on the eve of the season, I felt it's very important that our team, the many, many hundreds of people who work on the NFL and CBS, have certainty and direction, so we can definitively plan and focus on the production and marketing as we came off the season."
Romo, who was not in attendance in New York, was arrested in Wisconsin on July 23 on suspicion of operating under the influence. He was placed on indefinite leave by the company a week later, with JJ Watt replacing Romo on the network's top broadcast crew alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson. Both Nantz and Wolfson told Yahoo Sports that they've been in contact with Romo since his arrest but they were keeping those conversations private and wouldn't speculate about if and when the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback would return to the broadcast booth.
"I don't want to begin to try to make a comment about that because that's going to be David's decision," Nantz told Yahoo Sports, referring to Berson. "Tony's been a friend of mine for a long time. He was a friend long before CBS put us in the group together. I'm thinking a lot about Tony and his wife, Candice. He's always been a friend of mine for as long as I go. We've always been with him, and naturally, we will be in touch with each other."
Romo, 46, is in the seventh year of a reported 10-year, $180 million contract with CBS, working alongside Nantz and Wolfson and calling three Super Bowls for the network. Berson called Romo's leave of absence a personal and legal issue and wouldn't comment further on his arrest. In deciding to put Romo on leave, Berson said he had to consider the impact on CBS' image and brand.

Kendra and Joseph Duggar have withdrawn their not guilty plea after being charged with four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment following a search of their Arkansas home.
In March, the reality TV star, 31, who is the younger brother of convicted ****** offender Josh Duggar, and his wife, Kendra, 27, were arrested and charged with false imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child, with sources revealing to People at the time that the accusations came as the result of a "home inspection."
Initially, the couple entered a not guilty plea and were expected to make an appearance in court on August 10.
However, they instead opted to enter a plea order by the court, which means they can either enter a guilty or no contest plea for those charges and avoid their court hearing.
Following that updated plea, a judge will now decide whether the parents should face any time behind bars or pay any fines. If convicted on all counts, they could each face a jail sentence of up to eight years and be forced to fork over thousands of dollars.

Former NFL defensive end and broadcaster Marcellus Wiley's domestic battery case is over.
Prosecutors in Florida opted not to pursue charges in Wiley's case after his arrest last month, according to both USA Today and TMZ. Monday's decision, per the reports, came after testimonial evidence received in the case was "not corroborated by any physical or other evidence."
Wiley was first arrested on July 4 in Orlando, Florida, on one count of domestic battery. Wiley's wife told police that he had poked her in the face with his finger and threatened to kill her, and that he had "an unreported history of violence toward her," via the The Los Angeles Times. Wiley was released the next day on bond.
Wiley's wife, Annemarie Wiley, a former cast member of "The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills," later accused him of rape and said that he physically abused her and their children. A California judge granted a temporary restraining order against him last month, and she filed for divorce the same day.
Wiley has been accused by multiple women of ***** ual ***** ault in civil lawsuits previously, too. He has denied the allegations against him, made both by those women and his wife.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Lawyer Kamalpreet Chohan ran her finger down a list of 57 names of people scheduled to appear during a morning of hearings at the immigration court in California's capital and pointed out one glaring absence.
"None of these folks are represented," she said.
Chohan is the coordinator of a program that sends volunteer lawyers to immigration courts to ***** ist people without representation and help them navigate the complicated legal system where the stakes are a future in America or deportation.
Appearing without a lawyer opens up even greater risk under the second Trump administration, with the courts playing a key role in its mass deportation agenda. Courts are increasingly denying asylum, deportation officers have arrested immigrants in court hallways, the administration has packed courtrooms to cut backlogs and reduced lead time on hearings, prompting people to miss them.
Data shows that legal representation can be vital to winning in court but many immigrants, unable to pay for a private lawyer or find a pro bono one, navigate the system without an attorney at their side.

The Seattle Seahawks and general manager John Schneider have a history of treading cautiously with players who have troubled pasts, but sometimes the the possibility of adding a promising young talent is too good not to explore.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Sunday that the Seahawks hosted former Detroit Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold for a visit on Sunday. Arnold, who was drafted 24th overall in 2024, was released by the Lions on June 29 after he was arrested on eight total felony counts ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery. Here's a summary from the last time Arnold's name was linked to the Seahawks:
Authorities accused Arnold of orchestrating the abduction and beating of three men whom prosecutors believe were wrongly suspected of stealing luxury goods and $100,000 in cash from Arnold's AirBnB rental in Florida. Prosecutors further claim that although Arnold was not present at the time of the abduction and beating, he directed his ****** ociates to hold, beat, and pistol-whip the victims.
Arnold posted bond and is eligible to sign with any team. He previously visited the Houston Texans in early July.
The visit comes during third-round pick Julian Neal's ongoing absence as he navigates through a leg injury. Although head coach Mike Macdonald said Neal is not expected to be sidelined long-term, the team's interest in another cornerback indicates Neal's status is definitely something to monitor in the coming days.

This is a bit of a surprise. The New Orleans Saints waived rookie defensive tackle Zxavian Harris, the team announced Saturday morning. Harris signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss this spring but wasn't able to practice after undergoing foot surgery back in March. He started training camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list and was waived without taking a snap at practice.
What's unconfirmed is whether the Saints waived him with an injury designation, which would allow him to stick around on injured reserve and effectively take a redshirt year. The Saints also may have decided the juice wasn't worth the squeeze and are letting him go. We'll keep an eye out for updates on that front.
Either way, it's a disappointing end to the rookie year for Harris. He was seen as a third-round talent who fell out of the draft due to off-field reasons -- in addition to that foot injury this spring, he was arrested twice in college -- and there were a lot of Saints fans hoping he could heal up and make the team. This may not be the end of the road for him but we won't be seeing him in black and gold in 2026.

CBS might not be rooting for a reunion with Tony Romo, but Stephen A. Smith hopes the former NFL quarterback gets back to the network.
In the wake of being arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated last week in Milwaukee, CBS placed Romo on leave "until further notice." With no timetable for his return, Romo has already been replaced by J.J Watt in their lead NFL booth alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.
The decision to quickly replace Romo with a budding star in the booth like Watt has many wondering whether CBS is ready to move on from their lead **** yst of the last nine seasons. Stephen A. Smith, however, believes we haven't seen the last of Romo.
"I think so," Smith said on his SiriusXM Radio show after a caller asked whether we'll see Romo back on-air this season. "God bless him. It was a mistake to put himself in that position. But it happens from time to time. Thank God **** ody was hurt or anything like that. Can't get behind the wheel of a car inebriated in any way. Can't even give that impression. That's a very, very serious transgression, and we can't minimize that.
"But in the same breath, he's been a good dude, he's always been a good dude, and **** ody's perfect. People make mistakes. And hopefully he can move on from here and live his best life and continue to do the great work he's been doing for CBS."

The sister of Meredith Kercher has said a show by Amanda Knox, who was convicted of her murder and later cleared, "normalizes and trivializes violence against women."
British foreign exchange student Kercher was killed in Perugia, in 2007, and Knox, her US roommate, was arrested and later convicted of murder and ******* ual ******* ault in 2009 alongside Knox's then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito.
The couple maintained their innocence and, after years of legal battles, were acquitted of ******* ual ******* ault and murder by Italy's highest court in 2015.
Knox will now perform the show, named Cartwheel, which references a story that claimed she did cartwheels in the police station after her friend's death, at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.
Stephanie Kercher told BBC Breakfast: "It's left a massive void in our lives, and Amanda is naturally free to continue with her life as she wishes, but I think the problem with this particular project is that it is comedy.

NBA YoungBoy was arrested in 2025 for reckless driving, and now footage from the incident has found its way onto the internet.
In April last year, the Baton Rouge rapper was clocked doing 109 miles per hour in his Bentley while driving through Utah. The state's threshold for reckless driving sits at 105 miles per hour, meaning YoungBoy was only four miles over the limit when officers clocked him.
In the newly surfaced footage, you can see the moment police realize who they were dealing. "Guess he's a famous rapper or something," one cop can be seen saying to another.

YoungBoy, whose security team watched the whole thing unfold from their own car, complied throughout, answering every question and obeying every command. However, judging from the look on his face, he might have expected he'd get off with a citation.

Brenda ******* son is facing another legal challenge after a man asked a court for a civil harassment restraining order against the former soap opera actress. The request comes after ******* son's arrest for misdemeanor battery in July. At this point, the judge did not approve the temporary request, court records indicate. A hearing will now determine whether the order should move forward.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Richard Chamberlin filed a request for a civil harassment restraining order against ******* son on Monday. Chamberlin alleges ******* son hit his daughter, Isabella, in the face and chest during a July 8 incident. He also says she ******* ped Isabella with trash bags, made threats, and verbally harassed several people. Those allegations have not been proven in court.
In the filing, Chamberlin claims to be a property maintenance worker and a renter in the building where ******* son lives. He requested that the court extend the protection to him, Isabella, and another tenant. Chamberlin also says that ******* son has stalked and verbally harassed them for the last two months. He requested that ******* son remain at least five yards away from all of them, including his dog.
The judge, after reading the filing, refused to grant a temporary restraining order. The court said the documents did not adequately demonstrate that ******* son had engaged in any violence, threatened to use violence or caused any significant emotional distress. The court scheduled a hearing for Aug. 24 to consider the request. The judge has not ruled on the merits of Chamberlin's allegations.
The filing follows ******* son's arrest in July on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. The actress was arrested and, the same day, was released on her own recognizance. ******* son is best known for playing Jill Foster Abbott on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless. She has not publicly responded to the latest restraining order request at the time of reporting.

Jimmy Fallon spent a portion of Monday's Tonight Show celebrating Trump's defeat in the ongoing Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool saga.
The shallow pool was recently refurbished with a shade of dark blue and outfitted with "advanced nanobubbler technology" to tackle algae blooms that have long plagued the landmark — but algae returned shortly after the multi-million-dollar renovations were complete, and the new sealant started to peel off in chunks that bubbled to the surface.
Late last week, Washington, D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro moved to dismiss criminal charges against former Olympian David Hearn — one of several people arrested on suspicion of vandalizing the monument — after the Trump administration admitted that the damage to the recently installed blue liner was "the result of flawed installation by the contractor."
Fallon, 51, weighed in on the president's defeat, saying, "Trump is upset because his own Justice Department admitted the reflecting pool damage wasn't caused by vandalism, like he said. It was just a result of shoddy construction work.
"Trump claimed someone used a knife to quickly cut the pool liner the length of three football fields. I can barely use a knife to cut open my Amazon box," the late night host quipped.
